A great local venue for all sorts of performances - they have lots of theatre going on so we’ll worth a visit! Very cool building too. Friendly staff, and a nice bar which has kindly let me host ‘Jazz at The Barn’ every other month.

The Barn Theatre in Welwyn Garden City is a remarkable community theatre steeped in history and cultural significance. Originally a 17th-century timber-framed barn, the building was converted into a community theatre in 1931 and is now a Grade II listed structure. It's fascinating to know that the timbers used in the original barn date back to 1597, likely sourced from Sherrardspark Wood, and the building in its current form was erected around 1830 as part of Lower Handside Farm. The Barn Theatre in Welwyn Garden City is a hidden gem with a rich historical background. Its intimate setting, professional-level productions, and friendly atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for theatre enthusiasts. The theatre's commitment to offering a diverse range of plays in its beautifully refurbished spaces, alongside its role in hosting significant local festivals, is commendable. Whether you're a regular patron or a first-time visitor, the Barn Theatre promises an experience that rivals West End performances at a fraction of the cost. Its importance as a cultural landmark in Welwyn Garden City cannot be overstated. A heartfelt recommendation for anyone looking for quality theatre in a welcoming environment.

Really good standard of performances for a small local theater. They put on around 9 shows per year. They have a bar, and serve tea and coffee at shows. Parking can be tight. Very friendly and helpful staff. The theatre has a lovely classic feel to it.
