Great Western Arcade

Shopping center

👍👍 What a fantastic and interesting walkway in Birmingham. I love the symmetry and design. I also cannot stop staring at all the boutique shops: the whiskey, wine, tobacco, shoe, and spectacle shops especially. Good array of restaurants, but the best has to be Loki wine bar and the good intent pub. People often mention shops, Birmingham, shopping, shop, good, arcade, visit, cigars, lovely, Good,

Situated directly across from snow hill station and adjacent to the Birmingham cathedral you will find the great Western arcade, If you have an interest in the architecture of the city, then the Great Western Arcade is well worth visiting. It is listed Victorian arcade which combines historic elegance with modern shopping. You will find numerous small speciality shops, a great place to window shop, with many independent retailers situated there, Little hidden gems in the shape of shops from pubs & purses, cigars & cafes, glasses & hats, sweets & skate wear, bridal & bags, sushi & shoes to a quirky pop up breakfast stand that does the best porridge perfect for a cold winters morning it has everything you need and more in one little strip It certainly gives you a feel of historic Birmingham and the Victorian heart of its city -I don't own the pictures added they were taken of Google

While visiting Birmingham, I decided to check out the cigar shop in the arcade. Upon entering the shop we were greeted by 2 female staff behind the counter. I said that I wanted to purchase some cigars. I felt that the staff were not very confident in advising me on the type of cigars I was looking for. There was very little conversation between us, so I chose 2 cigars paid for them then left the store. Was rather disappointed with the experience overall.

One of the place to visit when you’re in Birmingham. Historical arcade with some unique, independent retailers e.g whisky, tobacco, shaver and etc. #greatwesternarcade #GWA #birmingham #city #travel #shopping #UK #walk

Very friendly helpful staff. The food was spicy but very nice with a good range of textures. The beer and cider we had went well with the food.

Probably Birminghams prettiest arcades, there's Anderson & Hill Deli at one end, a high quality food emporium with probanly the best lunchtime ciabattas (New yorker is my favourite) Miss Macaron is next door and a not for profit pub opposite, worth a visit if your in town!

Had lunch at Land. Absolutely amazing. Food just unbelievable, service absolutely top nothing, drinks matched to each course perfectly. More thank happy to come back from Cumbria for another go. 11 out of 10

This is a very nice trading arcade to look at And to find a bite to eat, get your haircut, find a bar or many other shopping opportunities. It’s a good spot to get out of the rain for while and is very conveniently positioned in Birmingham city centre. There’s parking close by and it’s also close to bus routes

Quaint "Arcade" It could be said, that it is off the beaten track... But it is not. Just on the periphery of the Cathedral, this Arcade is a little wonder of unique shops and bars. From hats to whisky. It is clean, tidy and safe. Worth popping in, for those seeking the individual or the something different.

There are quite a few quaint shops located there. I was actually impressed to see an old fashioned Sweets shops which had the same name as my Surname. I almost felt tempted to go in and purchase a few of the goodies.

This is a lovely experience from entering through the door to dining...if your knees and hips can cope you have the choice of sitting on traditional floor seating or opt for table and chairs . Beautifully presented food sushi of all descriptions a must try and very filling...previously we have had a starter or 2 followed by a standard plate of sushi approx 10 pieces to share (very full tummys). Absolutely DELICIOUS will continue to return to try new things.

Empty shops and bars, little of interest here for me except for the Good Intent pub and the bakers. Nice to shelter in when it's raining. Architecture is interesting but it's just our of the way for everyone but lunchtime workers and those lost.

Interesting range of shops and eating and drinking places, mainly independents. Lovely atmosphere in one of the places that the town planners thankfully didn't demolish postwar!

On the upper level looking down on the beautiful Great Western Arcade. Seating well spaced out and staff friendly. Sort of 1920s vibe. Very relaxed.

Kept to the left and wear a damn mask 😂. I'm all seriousness, I've lived in Birmingham my whole life and there isn't a week I don't shop here. From haircuts to sweets, there's something for everyone!!

Honestly just love this place and always have...even if you don't need anything from the quirky little independent shops I always make sure it's my walk through. Fantastic deli for cheese, shops for wine and whisky, cocktails, sushi and began food not to mention shoes & bags all in a wonderful setting of magnificent architecture. Well worth a stroll

The Arcade is one of the jewels in Birminghams Crown. The interior retains its Victorian splendour and although the businesses inside may change, the Arcade remains Imperious. On this visit we purchased a bottle of mead which is a traditional honey based beer.

It's how the shopping exterior should look with lovely Victorian & Edwardian floor tiles and arches providing a good mixture with the modern shopping architecture in order to bring uplifting beauty, encouraging visitors from all over the country and world to aid Birmingham's economy. Unfortunately the media just associates Birmingham the UK second city with rundown areas and non stop various crimes. Time to turn over over into a brand new positive chapter for Birmingham.

Unique area of shops , independent retailers. Beautiful architecture a gem to be maintained and supported in the Centre of Birmingham. It's lovely to find in amongst all the generic retail world of Birmingham's high streets, same old ,same old. People enjoy different shopping experiences.

Every time I come to this place most of the stores are shut, but look interesting. I never seem to get the hours correct. But, I mainly go to The Good Intent, a Craddock's pub. Good hand pulled beers on offers (Craddock's Crazy Sheep was prefered). The Bar is downstairs as are the toilets, which allows wheelchair access. There is more room upstairs, up a long flight of steps. Also more toilets upstairs.

If you're looking for something a little more upmarket this is the shopping arcade you need to visit. Feathers bridal shop carries incredibly beautiful dresses, Miss Macaroons sells the best macaroons I've ever had, the whisky shop has an amazing range of whiskies from around the world and the bakery bakes an array of delicious breads.

REVIEW 0051022. SUBJECT : GREAT WESTERN ARCADE, COLEMORE ROW, BIRMINGHAM. RATING: 3 Stars = it's ok. NOTES : THE RETAIL OUTLET'S WITHIN THE GREAT WESTERN ARCADE ARE HIGH END/ MAINLY VERY EXPENSIVE, AND THEREFORE BEYOND MY MEANS. N.B ; THE ARCADE IS ARCHITECTURALLY EXQUISITE AND MOST PLEASING TO ONES EYE. ( THE RIGHT ONE. ) BOTH ACTUALLY GUNGERDINS ! IT IS A BEAUTIFUL STRUCTURE AND DATES TO YONKS AGO. LATE VICTORIAN OR 1900's I WOULD ASSUME. THERE IS A FASCINATING HISTORICAL DISPLAY AT THE FAR END, EXIT NEAR RACKHAM'S, THAT DETAILS IT'S ORIGINS. I MUST HAVE A GOOD BUTCHERS NEXT TIME I'M NEAR THERE, IT HAS BEEN MANY, MANY MOONS AND SUNS SINCE LAST I LOOKED UPON NIT.

A few different kind of shops specialising in certain items. One for Whiskey, Wines and craft beer. There's a pub also a few places to eat. All under cover and well maintained.

A lovely collection of shops and worth a visit, even if it’s just to take in the amazing architecture and decoration. Beautiful Building.

Great, atmospheric, old passage with good stores and restaurants. It looks quite large and long in the photos, but in reality it is relatively short. Definitely something to check out when in Birmingham.
