Laser eye surgery is something I’ve wanted for a long time, when I met Mark at the first consultation, I felt reassured and confident that he could treat my ‘unusual’ eyes and astigmatism with LASIK surgery. The surgery was straight forward, I followed all the after care advice and attended all the follow up appts. I have worn glasses for most of my life and had poor vision without them. We may be stressed when considering laser eye surgery, I was like you few months ago. I had visited 4 clinics consultations. One of them said I was not fit for laser and they offered me instead lens replacement which I completely refused. However the other 3 clinics including Optegra hospital found out that I am fit for both LASEK or LASIK. LASIK was the right option as my surgeon Mark Wavill advised me and I felt very confident with his advice. I was -8 with stigmetism and getting 20/20 vision was not garanteed. I decided to go a head with LASIK and I am so pleased as I got 20/20 vision, even though I went through hard times where I stayed for 2 months wearing sunglasses indoors and even night times. I suffered sensitvity and dryness. Thanks to god and continous use of medication light sensitivity was treated. Now after 6 months I can say my eyes are feeling normal. I think the result you get deserve the wait and everyone is different, you may go back to normal after a week. At the end I advise you to visit more than one and for me optegra was the best because with Optegra you get to see your surgeon not like other clinics where you only get to see a cosultant not the surgeon him self. Any concerns I had I was always able to see my sergeon at any time. The service I got it was a 5 star service. Well professional staff. My wife & I had been thinking about laser eye surgery as we were fed up with all the specs we had to carry around! We attended an open evening hosted by Mr Mark Wevill at Optegra in Birmingham, & were immediately impressed by the friendly, professional approach with absolutely no pressure. I went to see Mark Wevell eight months ago where I had a lengthy and thorough consultation and decided to go for Refractive Lens Exchange as I just wanted never to wear glasses again, it also had the added bonus of never forming cataracts. I felt absolutely confident with Mark , he was very professional, informative, and made me feel confident and relaxed. Looking back now, I was so nervous despite the fact Mark was so lovely, I just kept thinking it's my eyes and you only get one pair! I have to admit as the day of surgery arrived I was a wreck! I was quite short sighted before Mark Wevill treated me. I had ICL surgery performed by Mr Wevill at the Westbourne Centre in Birmingham to correct my shortsightedness of -11. From the initial consultation I felt that Mr Wevill had my best interests at heart and advised me of the various options, his recommended treatment and the risks involved. He asked me to take time, look at the material he provided and do my own research to make sure I was comfortable and had all my questions answered. I was worried these types of consultations can turn to a sales pitch but this wasn’t the case here at all! Mr Wevill encouraged me to take my time with this decision which I was grateful for. The procedure itself was done in two stages and I received great care both times. Despite being a nervous patient I felt reassured and calm throughout the procedure. I must say the team around Mr Wevill during the surgery and the prep are excellent too and I felt very well cared for. The follow up care was very good, I was surprised at how accessible the surgeon made himself after the operations, to ensure I was able to reach out directly in case of issues. This was again highly reassuring as I knew I wouldn’t be left to fend for myself if something went wrong. I am now four months after the procedure and the lenses have settled in very well. I am very pleased to have gone through this procedure and only wish I did it sooner. It was the right thing for me and I thank Mr Wevill for his kind advice and patience getting me through this process.

I have just completed my final appointment with mark! Achieving 20:20 vision in both eyes! Having researched eye surgeons for 2 years and not feeling comfortable with two other consultations, I knew immediately when meeting Mark that he was the person for me! I am a total wimp regarding anything medical, he surpassed my expectation in every way! His ability to keep me completely calm and his care is like no other! Good eyesight is the most precious of things, so I am very careful in my choice of surgeons. Marl Wevill at Optegra has replaced the lenses in both my eyes and I would not have had anyone else do this for me. His care and attention to detail is truly second to non. Mark was brilliant from start to finish. He made me feel at ease from the first consultation and gave a thorough explanation of each type of procedure and the benefits and risks of each. After my procedure he was very reassuring and even made the effort to ring me on the first evening to see how I was doing. The first few days after my procedure were tough and I was in quite a bit of pain so I got in touch with Mark to check that what I was experiencing was normal. Even though it was a Sunday he rang me back and quickly reassured me that this was normal after LASEK. I am now nearly 5 weeks post-surgery and I have absolutely no regrets and the discomfort I experienced was all worth it. I had LASIK surgery just under 3 weeks ago now and am very happy with my progress so far. I am still very much in the recovery phase, but the difference of seeing without glasses is amazing. About 20 years ago, Mr Wevill carried out bilateral refractive surgery, on both of my eyes. This was done at Harplands Hospital in Manchester. It was carried out in a professional and caring manner. It made such a difference to my day to day living. Waking up at night and being able to see the time, swimming without losing a contact lense, no more eye infections due to wearing contact lenses, being able to read text on the TV and not to mention the savings from the ongoing costs of spectacles and contact lenses. I am now 75 years old and would fully endorse this procedure. It really was an eye opening experience....

After many years pondering if I should get laser surgery or not, I finally got it done, after my own research I came across Dr Mark Wevill. I decided to contact him at the westbourne centre for an initial consultation, straight from the outset Dr Wevill was amazing. He explained in full detail everything I needed to know pre and post surgery, the different types of surgery, the pros and cons of the surgery and also advised of monovision surgery. Which I was not aware of. This is to eliminate reading glasses for future. I was made to feel very comfortable and at ease from outset. I then opted for monovision surgery and had this few weeks after my initial consultation. The surgery went well, Mark re assured me throughout the whole surgery, and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. The same evening of the surgery, Mark himself called to see how I was doing and if I had any concerns, etc. Which was great. Can only highly recommend Dr Mark Wevill absolutely amazing.

There are far too many good things I can say about Dr Wevill and the general experience of my laser eye surgery but out of respect of a reader's attention span, I'll try to limit it to the things that stood out to me; Before Surgery: Funny story- The first time I met Dr Wevill, before even discussing laser eye surgery, he kindly 'told me off' because he noticed (from my eye scans) a bad habit which was negatively affecting my eyesight. Not only did he kindly alert me to this, he warned me of the possible consequences in the future. I have been going to eye clinics for years and was never told this so I really appreciated him alerting me to this. During Surgery: Throughout the procedure (which wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought), Dr Wevill constantly reassured me that how I was feeling and my eyes were reacting was all very normal for the procedure and I had nothing to worry about. Once again I appreciated this. After Surgery: As many will testify, the worst part of the process is a few hours after the surgery, during this time I was very encouraged by a phone call from Dr Wevill checking to see how I was. In summary, I'm very glad I chose Dr Wevill for my surgery. He is a very kind, caring, and charismatic person who has evidently a passion for his practice. His supporting staff (Korin- PA, and the nurses who supported my surgery) were all very nice people too. I would encourage anyone considering laser eye surgery to stop reading the 'horror stories' online and book an appointment with Dr Wevill.

I recently visited Mark for Lasik eye surgery. I spent a lot of time researching where to get laser eye surgery done and could not be happier with my decision to go with Mark for my LASIK surgery. He was fantastic from day one, talking me through all my options based on my eye health and prescription and the risks in a kind, informative and reassuring way that eased my mind a lot. The procedure itself took less than 15 minutes and I was spoken to the whole time which helped and it was definitely a lot easier than I thought it would be. My eye were quite watery and swollen after surgery but was amazed at how quickly the results came on, especially by the time I had my check-up the next day and had better than 20/20 vision. The recovery was easy and simple and I was even able to travel to Mexico a week later with no issues. Mark was brilliant throughout the whole process and I could not recommend him enough. He was clear and honest about the whole process and I never worried about any 'horror stories' I'd read online because of this. Mark was fab. I was a little apprehensive about the whole thing because the reason for me having laser eye treatment was because I’m not great with touching my eyes, so having tried and failed with contact lenses, i felt it was time to try laser eye surgery. Mark explained everything well, his aftercare was so much better than the big corporate laser eye companies, as he sees you at each appointment / consultation. The aftercare was great and he even gave me his mobile number, in case I had any concerns. The end result is that My eyesight is better than 20/20, so an amazing result! I could not believe how simple and straight forward this journey for me has been! I have wanted laser eye surgery for years but always been nervous and just never got round to booking in anywhere. I had a very positive experience here with Mr Mark Weevil and team in Feb 2022. Mr Weevil was very professional and attentive all the way through the entire process. I had my final review today with my vision being corrected to better than 20/20 and no negative side effects other than mild drys eyes. I am happy to recommend to my friends and family having laser eye surgery done.

Mark was excellent throughout the whole process. He did the tests and the surgery which was one thing that was key to me picking the right surgeon. The surgery went well and was painless, it does get a little unpleasant but Mark did a good job at being gentle letting me know what was going on. One week later from LASEK and I can see well with little irritation. As Mark advised and from my own research, my sight should get better and better over the next few months.

When I initially researched eye surgery on line I was impressed with Mark Wevills extensive knowledge and expertise. I'm not going to sugar coat how challenging the first couple of days are but once you get through it, it's definitely worth it The aftercare is exceptional and the level of care and professionalism and attentiveness is just brilliant. I am so happy with the results of my Lasik treatment. Mark and my initial check up doctor Sam, were both excellent and took the time to answer all my questions before surgery. The nurses during the day of surgery were lovely and the surgery itself was swift and painless, you can feel the experience Mark has under his belt during the procedure. His bedside manners were great, and the place also has excellent Covid-19 safety regulations. My experience after surgery was just a few weeks of dry eyes which cleared up within a month with the eye drops provided for post-surgery care.
