Went here for a meal after a wedding. Was really great food! All come out piping hot, there was around 20 of us... some had starters and some didnt but everything came out hot... always someone behind the bar serving drinks. Very pleasant staff always smiling and having a good chat!! Recommend

Just been to the Why Not Inn for a mid week meal as couldn't be bothered to cook. I haven't been here since I was a kid so didn't know what to expect. I don't think it's changed much & it's been about 24 years since I've last visited. It defo needs a make over but I'm not leaving a review about the decor!! Lol. The food was home cooked & absolutely lovely. My husband & sons steaks were cooked amazing & mine & my other sons dinners were amazing too!! The staff were lovely & the hubby said the beer was good. The prices were very reasonable so would definitely recommend a visit!!

Even though I've ate there with my wife when the previous owner was there , this was our 1st time as a family. Nice little pub and very welcoming. Bar maid was lively funny and polite. Waited 30 minutes for the food which is expected. Scampi was a good size portion and the lamb shank was to die for. 2 mixed grills came but over cooked and dry meat. Shame but we put that down to how busy they were.

Overall a bit of a let down today. The place has recently changed hands so understandably its going to have teething problems. Last weekend was a fantastic Sunday roast everything being home made. This week was seemed to be poorly managed and slow with meals only being brought out one at a time with meat being served cold! No problems with the chef as he is attentative and courteous coming out to his customers and asking for feedback. I feel the problem lies with the old staffing, only catering to the older audience in the pub like the old management did. The place needs new life and new staff that show no bias towards there new customers not just the old Blue Rinse brigade. The new chef shows so much potential and his new dishes are made with a homely rustic feel. Front of house drastically let's down the chef and the customers.

Went to the why not inn today for the weekly £3.99 roast. What a bargain! Definitely recommend the visit in the week. We had beef, mashed potato, mixed veg, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Only negative side was we could have done with a few more roast potatoes, and they were quite hard & burnt. Relaxing atmosphere with very friendly staff. Landlord very pleasant and accommodating.

Had a great meal tonight at the Why Not. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Nice selection of beers/ales on the bar. The menu was extensive, and there was a selection of specials on the board, it was hard to choose! Food was tasty and cooked to a high standard. And we’ve been tempted back by the photos of the tomahawk steak and homemade sausages that the manager shared with us as we were leaving. Lovely historic pub, we’ll definitely be back. :)

First time here and it was my birthday. Such a warm and friendly welcome from Dave the owner. Food was delicious, the steak and kidney pie which had been recommended didn’t disappoint. Dave sent over a free drink for me and even put a candle on my dessert along with “happy birthday” on the sound system. We’ll definitely be going back.

The Why Not is a traditional pub but with a wonderful menu a really great place to eat. The meals are generous in portion and beautifully cooked. They have a wide menu lots to choose from. I have never been disappointed. The Why Not is having new management soon I'm hoping the standards of food stay as they are. Highly recommend a visit at present.

Booked for seven of us as a birthday celebration. Every meal was perfect. The surf and turf was so yummy. My steak was medium rare and it was as good as any overpriced steakhouse, if not better at a very reasonable price too. Oh my days, the chips, the chips are like your mum used to make in a good old fashioned chip pan! All of the food was fresh. You get such a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Definitely be going back here frequently.

What a find. Its friendly and welcoming and reminds me of those pubs you find on the last day of your holiday and wished you'd found it at the start.

We went on Monday night (2nd January) Haven’t been before under new management but have to say everything was perfect . Very clean which I have to say it really wasn’t before . Food was delicious and piping hot . Spoke to the chef who was really friendly and the man behind the bar was the same. They couldn’t be more helpful and dealt with my wheat intolerant husbands meal without any quibble . Obviously trained in this field and knew what was what . Really enjoyed the night and will be back !

Arrived quite early but the new management team were happy to accomadate us. The food and service was just as exceptional as they always have been here. Prices are actually very reasonable here when you look at the quality and portion size. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent choice of real ales all kept at peak condition.

Under new management this local pub has more on the menu than before but prices have increased quite a lot. This means I won't be dining here very often as not a quick bite option anymore. New landlady is friendly and good for a quick drink Not been on an evening so not sure how busy it gets here but normally get a table in the daytime.

Went last month , excellent choices of beer and well kept. Menu was extensive and reasonably priced. Had fish and chips a very large piece of fish and real chips it was all lovely other than had to leave some as too much. Have just rebooked looking forward to going again .

Just had a fantastic meal at the Why Not Inn with the new landlady Lisa. It was the first time we had visited. Food was delicious, the Homemade ale pie was the best my wife had ever tasted, also the apple crumble and custard was outstanding. Will definitely be back very soon 👍

This was our second Sunday visit since the new landlady took over. The carvery was good, with a reasonable choice of vegetables and excellent Yorkshire puddings. I'm vegetarian, but I understand from my husband that the meat was very good . Unfortunately after our plates were cleared, we waited 20 minutes but were not offered desserts or more drinks and as we were seated at a table that was blocked in by other diners it was difficult for me to get to the bar. This would not stop us visiting again, but l do feel it was poor customer service. Generally the staff are friendly ,just not very attentive.

Came for the Sunday lunch carvery and was not disappointed. Fantastic food and friendly service. We will be back.

6 went for dinner and had the trio meat carvery. Beef, chicken, Turkey.. mine and another only had 2 meats, 3 had all the veg others had less. Soup starter was cold and thick. The pubs always been nice and have enjoyed a carvery here years ago but it's not a self service carvery anymore which takes away the element of a carvery in my opinion. Atleast we would all get what we would like on our plate with a self serve once the meats dished out.

Although menu is smaller the food is still great ,beer is still good ,service is great .I have been coming here for a while with friends, so popped in to check what it's like with the new management. Can honestly say it's still brilliant.

Very pleasant traditional pub with more than your usual choice of 'pub grub' Menu caters for lots of tastes with variety of dishes. Will be calling again soon.

Nice local community pub. They have a couple of local real ales on tap, (enville and golden glow) only had the glow, but tasted good and seemed well kept. No parking that I could see, and check opening hours as not open all day. Otherwise a lovely local local. :)

Sunday carvery. Despite mucking them around with the timing of our booking they found us a table. The beef was medium rare just how I like it. Plenty of nice veg too. No room for pudding but the crumble seemed popular with others.

Excellent food as always, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We love this place and will not hesitate to return. Go on treat yourself.

The food is out of this world as is the hospitality. The only downside is lack of parking and wheelchair access. Other than that not a problem with the place

  • 1/5 Rob w. 2 years ago on Google
Poor management and not run to the standards they say. Not really Covid safe as no airflow In the pub. And the heating is always on be aware. Most of the food is brought from Iceland and cooked in the microwave and over charged. (Lasagna, spagboll, lemon sole,). Do not recommend especially the way dave speaks to customers and his staff. Better cheaper pubs out their WHY NOT try another pub :)
