Amazing experience! Visited the Grand Hotel with my partner a couple days ago as a early Valentine's treat and enjoyed their afternoon tea experience. Everything from the quality of the tea down to the tableware itself was such high quality and the service was superb. Fast, friendly and made us feel special and at ease. The sparkling cocktails I would definitely recommend to have with or after your afternoon tea. We'd love to come here again and bring more of our loved ones to share this special experience!

My family and I rented 2 rooms at this splendid hotel. We came from New York to one of the nicest hotels in Birmingham. I loved my stay here. It's located in a great spot, right opposite St Phillip's Cathedral and there are so many upscale restaurants and bars to choose from nearby. Our rooms were clean, bright and with great views of Colmore Row and the service was attentive and the staff was very pleasant and welcoming. Of course, we had the full English breakfast, which was delicious and had many options. Loved my stay at the Grand!

We visited the grand hotel on Sunday 21/08/22 for my partners 30th birthday!! What a treat it was, from the moment we arrived I fell in love with the building it has been restored to perfection!! Loved the quirky touches modern yet in keeping with the building! When we got to our room we had kindly been upgraded to a larger room with a bath, it was beautiful! Thank you!! Then we had a knock on the door and they had sent a little cupcake up for my partners birthday wishing him happy birthday! These are the little touches that make a difference and will set you apart from others and we will 100% be back! We live locally so a lovely treat every now and again won't harm! Location is fabulous for shopping and restaurants! I can recommend this hotel enough in fact I'm looking to book a room for my mum and dads anniversary! Loved our stay thank you keep doing what you are doing! Lu&Josh

Very nice place where to stay in Birmingham. We spent just one night in town, for work. You can feel that details matter here: the bedroom was elegant, the yoga mat and the coffee machine in the room were very much appreciated. The location is quite convenient, especially for who travels by train, since the railway station is literally less than half mile from the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was quite good and the food flavorsome. The staff was extremely friendly, especially the receptionist that helped us with the checkout in the morning. Definitely a very good experience

Upper standard customer service from all staff in particular Dawn of housekeeping, who was very helpful even before the start of her shift. Being disabled I was extremely thankful for the attentive resource of the staff at reception. Breakfast was well managed. My room matched all my highest expectations for comfort. Considering the very busy and bustling area of this hotel I found the atmosphere collected and well organised. I would recommend this wonderful hotel as the best stay Birmingham has on offer.

Stayed for 3 nights whilst in Birmingham for work. Excellent in every way, and this was easily the best hotel I've stayed in for several years. I look forward to returning! Great location. Smart lobby. Friendly and polite staff. Huge room. Huge bathroom. Penhaligons toiletries. Comfortable bed with high quality 100% cotton bedding. Lovely cocktail bar.

Stopped here 3 weeks ago as we are bored with the usual suspects in the Birmingham hotel chain - easily the best hotel in Birmingham - setting great and the room was lovely with the best bed I've ever stopped in away from my own - we could have done with some more information about the car parking facilities here as we parked in Snow hill ( which was painless ) but would have been good to know of the hotel parking option / breakfast was really nice but was packed in and felt like a canteen / railway station and the only criticism from me . Highly recommended.

I booked here for myself and a friend for her birthday. The hotel is wonderfully decorated, immaculately clean and has outstanding staff who operate with grace and to impeccably high standards. From the moment you enter you can see and feel the luxurious and thoughtful touches that this hotel offers whilst maintaining a classic and traditional tone. I believe The Grand Hotel to be the most effortlessly classy hotel I have stayed in for a while with flawlessly presented rooms and remarkable staff. Our short stay was perfection and certainly will be where I make my reservations for future visits to Birmingham.

Beautiful historic hotel, remarkable staff, lovely breakfast and even dog friendly. We have a well behaved Alsatian we travel with and the staff could not have made her and us feel more at home. The room was comfortable, tastefully decorated, had a lovely bath and a nice dog bed.

We met up here for a family catch-up. My brother and his wife were staying at the hotel, and so we had some drinks in the bar before exploring the area. It is a beautiful hotel, immaculately maintained, and the service was excellent, too. Welcoming and friendly. We ordered some beers and cocktails. The service was efficient, and the drinks were delicious. Thanks to all who were working!

I had a delightful breakfast experience at a stunning restaurant. The setting was minimalistic yet upscale, providing a unique atmosphere for my meal. The room I was in was well-furnished and very comfortable. The colors of the carpet, bathroom tiles, and the room itself blended perfectly, giving off a wonderful, minimalist vibe. The reception desk staff were warm and welcoming throughout my visit especially Elijah on front desk made the duration of my stay (5 nights ) amazing throughout with exceptional customer service I will most definitely recommend again special shout out to the main man Elijah

I've just returned from another fantastic stay at the Grand Hotel. Everything was wonderful. Especially the staff. In particular Sam who served our cocktails in madeleines. He was great, so enthused and knowledgeable about the history of the hotel. It was a fantastic experience. We cannot wait to return for another visit. Well done to all at the Grand.

We hosted a medical meeting for about 40 people plus partners in Sept 2023. I cannot praise the hotel and its staff enough. From the start the event manager was helpful and accommodating, the process transparent and the inevitable small issues easily ironed out. The hotel and meeting rooms are superb with an old-world grandeur but brought thoroughly up to date with none of the fixtures and fittings looking at all tired (which happens at many older hotels). In a world where many hotels are anodyne and could be anywhere in the world, the Grand stands out as quintessentially English. Management have obviously got things right as all the staff I met from the event manager to the chambermaids, waiters, and the staff helping lay out the ballroom all seemed genuinely happy to be there and to help. The whole event was fantastic and so many people commented on what a fabulous hotel it was. The black tie dinner we hosted in the Grand Ballroom was a highlight with tasty food, and good service. It was also excellent value. We had 78 people for the dinner and I was very concerned that we would feel lost in such a large room but the way it was set out meant that we didn't feel that way at all. My thanks to all at the Grand for making our meeting such a success.

Loved the walkability and the availability of restaurants and items of interest. The staff was unfailingly polite, even when repeating items I should have paid more attention to the first time. Had a little trouble with the TV, and maintenance was there within 20 minutes to fix it. You can't always ask for everything to go perfectly, but you can appreciate the responsiveness when something doesn't. In this case, that minor hiccup was the only hiccup in the entire trip and it was handled promptly and professionally. Absolutely, 100%, without reservation recommend you make a reservation. The Grand makes that decision incredibly easy. Wonderful value for the money.

Wow! This has got to be the swankiest hotel in Brum! We stayed in room 503, a corner double deluxe over looking the cathedral and Colmore Row. Sparkling clean room, sumptuous furnishings and absolute silence! Air con silent and effective, windows opened (a rarity nowadays) and absolutely everything on point. Staff very friendly, and everything lived up to its name - The Grand! Would come back here in a heartbeat, such great value rooms and easy location to the centre of town. Thank you for making 24hrs feel like a whole weekend, great work Team, we’ll be back 🀩

Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms, excellent food and service apart from a room mix up, otherwise 5 star service from the staff. Walk up and down the stairway, admire the art and internal restoration of this beautiful building. The ball room is amazing too. Well worth a stay and for us a repeat visit in the future. Thank you to the Grand Hotel.

This hotel was brand new on my radar, and came highly recommended. I stay in Birmingham once or twice a year and have done so for eons. I've used the Hyatt and Novotel and both joints sort me out perfectly. Perhaps I've now discovered a new accommodation leader?! My room and shower was top. The bar area was big and had plenty of seats and tables available. The gym is small and lacked gear but it had new kit installed and it helped me keep the old physique in check (plus I had the space to myself). The corridors are secure and quiet. The price in this instance was highly competitive (I know at times it's highly steep). Give it a try next time. Location wise it's ideal for City Central activities.

We just popped in for a drink in the bar. Bar looks quite nice. However, the 'house policy' is a bit skeezy. The liquor on the menu is all priced for single shots, as you'd expect. I ordered a whiskey. When the bill came, my whiskey was twice the listed price. The waiter told us that it is 'house policy' to serve doubles, but not to tell patrons about this policy. If you told people when they ordered that the drinks came as doubles, that would be fine. Alternatively, if the prices on the menu were for doubles, that would be fine too. The current blatant obfuscation is tacky, though. The waiter seemed quite flustered and informed us that 'he was just doing as he was told.' So clearly, he'd been told to mislead customers. Delightful. My wife had a mocktail which she quite enjoyed. It was relatively expensive though, considering that it was basically juice with a massive ice cube taking up most of the space in the glass. That's to be expected in a lot of places though, sadly. She would have happily paid more for a decent sized drink. There was also an 'optional' service charge added on that we had to ask the waiter to remove. I despise places that do this. If it's optional, ask before you add it. If you want more money, increase your prices; stop with all this service charge nonsense. We often leave a tip when service is good, but never when a service charge is added on sneakily like this. Overall, the drinks were fine, but the policies here left a bad taste in our mouths. We definitely won't be back. Edit: As you can see from the response below, they don't even care enough to get my name correct, or to leave a contact email or number. There is absolutely no way I'll be wasting my time contacting these twits directly!

I recently had a wonderful stay at Grand Hotel Birmingham and wanted to share my positive experience. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, creating a friendly atmosphere. Check in and check out was a breeze. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, ensuring a pleasant stay. The dining options were excellent, with a diverse menu and high-quality cuisine. The hotel's convenient location made it easy to explore the surrounding area. Overall, I highly recommend Grand Hotel Birmingham for a delightful and memorable stay. Ps. Thanks to the reception desk and the cleaning staff for finding my forgotten passport and notifying me on time. Really appreciate that.

A beautifully refurbished Victorian hotel in the heart of Birmingham that's a short walk from New Street train station, the Bullring Shopping Centre and numerous museums. The front desk staff were so welcoming and friendly, a real asset to the hotel and very helpful, answering numerous questions I had about the area. I was delighted at how comfortable my room was (2 nights in a Junior Suite), it had everything I needed. An absolute highlight is that the hotel is dog friendly, so I was able to my pug Monty along with me, he really enjoyed his stay too :) Will definitely stay here again and would recommend the Grand Hotel to anyone planning a city break in Birmingham.

I stayed here for one night. The room was a lovely size and very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was on when I arrived but a managed to stop it and change it to heat. I didn’t have any soap in the room to wash my hands. I asked the reception and they said they would get some sent to my room. But it never arrived. I used face wash that I had bought with me. Breakfast was disappointing. The full English breakfast was smoked bacon, I like unsmoked and there wasn’t an alternative, a flat mushroom with sweet pickle on top. Who has sweet pickle on a breakfast. It spoilt it. The tea was English tea, which I love, and was bought to the table already poured. But it was extremely weak so it wasn’t pleasant to drink. I like my tea stronger but unfortunately I didn’t have this option. The hotel itself is very grand and beautiful but that’s why it is price it is. The negative side was that it was very noisy as my room overlooked the street and as it was a Saturday night the streets were extremely busy and raucous. As it is central Birmingham it is something to be mindful of in future

Stayed here a couple of nights and it was a lovely, clean room to be honest. Air conditioning set up was perfect with it being summer, bed was really comfortable, room was nice and spacious. Nice to see a fridge was included. The bathroom was huge maybe it was missing a bath tub, but I wouldn't have used it anyway. Great location in Birmingham city centre too. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

The cocktail lounge is beautifully decorated and spacious. A good selection of cocktails and the non-alcoholic one was delicious, too. However, we had to wait almost 40 mins to get our drinks and the staff weren't particularly helpful. Our friend waited all that time just to be told they didn't have what she wanted. We were quite disappointed by the service.

We have been here many times find it one of the nicest places in the centre of Birmingham, for a quiet drink. Old school charm, nice staff & great selection of drinks. We've not stayed, but judging by the general standard, it would be difficult to imagine it being anything other than wonderful.

    1. When we arrived at the hotel, it was absolute tipping down with rain, and I had parked some distance away from the hotel and left our luggage in my car with my wife. I ran to the hotel to ask them where the best place to park was, to my shock and surprise they insisted that they come to the car in the pouring rain and take my heavy luggage and then I would go and park the car. I was surprised because these were two young ladies who were genuinely willing to go out in the pouring rain for some distance and lift heavy luggage despite my protest for them not to. It is very rare to see that level of commitment and willingness to care for guests needs. 2. The hotel itself was very, very nice. and well equipped to a very high standard. 3. It was our 30th anniversary, and once again they surprised us by upgrading our room, and we were sent a complimentary small cake and a lovely message. 4. In general we got a sense that the staff were genuine people looking after their guests.

This hotel is lovely I am here at the moment in room 221. The staff are exceptional and the rooms are lovely. However if you stay here on a weekend and there is an evening event in the ballroom avoid rooms on the second floor over the ballroom as the music is unbearably loud as I lie here trying to relax! I would stay here again as it is a lovely hotel but I would definitely ask for a room on a higher floor or one on the other side of the hotel.

A lovely grand building with spacious rooms (at least the one we had). Comfy bed, lovely bathroom/shower room. Very clean as well. The staff is lovely and helpful. The breakfast is a buffet with Continental food and hot breakfast is to order, unfortunately only one plate per guest, but then, less waste, which makes it alright again (I guess 😊) . The English breakfast and the salmon on Bagel were absolutely delicious. The location is great; 5 min walk from the New Street rail station and just under 10 minutes walk to the shopping centres.

Really enjoyable stay with my wife, lovely big room overlooking the Cathedral, comfortable bed, great breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful at every stage and the cocktails in the splendid Madeleine's bar were great too. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love this hotel. This is my new favourite in Birmingham. So quiet considering its City Central. Love the decor and great having a huge chrome cast TV. I could spend hours in the shower and Molten Brown toiletries are always a bonus. Lovely bar too even if you're not staying at the hotel.

Amazing experience, stayed over the jubilee Bank Holiday with my family and was not disappointed. The hotel was elegant and the rooms extremely comfy. The staff were very attentive at all times esp with my four year old who was running riot! I want to say a big thank you to (Auvin) and the rest of the staff who went out of there way to make our stay comfortable. Will definitely stay again.

Lovely hotel, have attended a couple of events here. Food is great, really good quality. Service is always fantastic. Have never stayed over but the rooms look very nice and super clean etc. Only four stars as it is rather expensive but definitely recommend. Conference and event spaces are great, Grand Ballroom is very impressive.

The hotel is beautiful, rooms are excellent, with a fantastic standard of furnishings, great quality bathroom products and room refreshments, and the little things like a yoga mat were a lovely touch. Breakfast was great, all staff were professional and attentive. Front of house were efficient and knowledgeable and all in all this is certainly one of the best hotel stays I have enjoyed and certainly the best since covid hit. Great job guys very highly recommended. Thank you.

Everything about our stay at The Grand was just impeccable! Staff were very attentive, considerate and welcoming. And for celebrating mum's birthday she was not disappointed. The beds were comfy, breakfast was delicious and the afternoon tea in Madeleine's was just divine. The gym is small but completely functional with good equipment and a wide range of free weights. Would happily stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you to all the amazing staff at The Grand.
