We had such a wonderful time finishing our Open Water Certification. We had a group with different members seeking different certifications over a few days and the shop was incredibly accommodating and organized. We finished our Open Water with Larry and I was so impressed. He was so knowledgeable, patient, and kind. We learned a lot about skills and got really awesome feedback on how to improve diving fundamentals. We’re not from Florida, but we’ll happily come back for more certifications and dives with Calypso—they’re that good!

Best dive shop in Florida. Calypso Divers of Tampa Bay is top-notch. Every person I’ve met or dealt with at the shop has made a positive impact on my diving success. They sell fantastic equipment at reasonable prices (with annual sales in May); Rob is an expert on equipment and all-things diving (I learn something every time I speak with him); Dan is a fantastic instructor, and you feel like you’re diving with friends after just one day together; the owners Larry and Laura are super nice and super good people. With tons of dive experience, Larry’s teaching style is awesome, and he really cares about your dive journey and making sure you learn, live, and enjoy scuba diving. My daughter and I earned our EANx and Advanced Open Water certifications with Calypso this past weekend. It was by far the best diving experience we’ve had in three years of diving. I can’t wait to dive more with the Calypso dive family and highly recommend it to anyone just starting out or to those who have been diving for years.

This pertains to July, 2020. Sorry for the late post. First, I want to thank the owners, Larry and Laura, for their genuine understanding and subsequent assistance in working within our time constraints to get my 12 and 13 year old granddaughters Open Water certified and my son re-certified. Their flexibility and patience are truly appreciated. We also want to give special thanks and recognition to Dan Capobianco for being such a GREAT INSTRUCTOR. He was very effective in teaching us the skills we need and instilling confidence in us to use them properly. He mixes his knowledge and diving skills with just the right amount of humor and empathy. He made the experience way better than we originally expected.

Larry is a skilled, phenomenal and very patient instructor. This dive shop truly deserves five stars. As a student with anxieties I would not have been able to enjoy the gift of scuba diving without them. Larry is a true professional who is calm and kind. On our Advanced Open Water Certification dives I experienced the same level of professionalism from Dan and Douglas. If you want to learn to dive and get certified this IS the place to do it. This shop is top notch!

Have had nothing but good experiences from the first book purchased to the 8 certifications we now have from this shop. Great at advising on equipment as well as leading trips. Larry, Gary, Dan, Kyle, and Todd (especially Todd) are all awesome to work with.

We did our Advanced Open Water Certification with Calypso. The dive shop is amazing with quality equipments and we had a great time getting certified. Todd Marsh was our instructor and guided us every step of the way. The whole experience was comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommend Calypso for first time and experienced divers.

My 11 year old daughter and I went through Calypso for our open water certification. The process could not have been easier and was really fun. Dan is an incredible instructor who had my shy daughter feeling comfortable and confident in the water. I highly recommend Calypso for all your diving needs.

My dad and I got open water certified with Dan Capobianco at Calypso! He is an excellent instructor with lots of knowledge, patience, and tolerance! I felt safe + comfortable with Dan! The entire staff at Calypso is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Calypso Divers of Tampa Bay is an excellent establishment that has top notch training, fantastic equipment and an incredibly friendly staff! I just completed training with Todd and am thoroughly impressed with his teaching methods along with his vast knowledge of the content. He is also really down to earth and very personable. Great trainer!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Calypso! I started conversing with Larry months ago over the phone as I was planning for my OW Diver course and was a bit nervous about everything I needed, as well as planning since I do not live in Florida. Larry and Laura are super thorough and nice whether through email, phone and in-person! Larry helped me try on fins and boots. The pricing is reasonable for the equipment and classes. Dan, my instructor, was absolutely fantastic and I did not feel overwhelmed or anxious at any point during my course. He made my first scuba diving experience fun and I did not feel anxious about my ability to scuba dive after learning with Dan. It took about a week and a half to get my certification # with PADI. I’m so happy with my experience and I definitely will be diving with Calypso again!!
