Has some beautiful beaches and great sunsets. As a matter of FACT, it's the same "sun set " we saw in Hawaii, and just as beautiful !!

Beautiful trip around the harbor! Lovely dolphins following the boat!

This entire place is filled with expensive boats that pay horrendous fees just for a slip. The regular people are left to anchor in a crowded anchorage and for service you have to make a reservation with a marina if you can even find one that has room contrary to what we were told this place is only 50% rebuilt from Irma and service is rare and expensive. I would move further up the keys and find a reasonable area to spend my boating dollars.

Charlotte Harbor is a typical Florida coastal town and it offers many many opportunities for food and Recreation. The laishley park Marina appears to be an excellent place to launch a boat and there is adequate boat parking for trailers. However I will point out the day that I was there was a cold and windy day. One that was not conducive devoting so on a bright and sunny day parking may be more of a problem.

Charlotte Harbor is a great place to take your kids fishing. The peir is perfect with cut outs made for shorter people or wheel chair bound individuals. Plenty of sheep heads around the pilons and the occasional ray. We have seen dolphin working fish in the harbor a few times, even pulled up a small black tip. It can get a bit crowded during the weekends and may or may not run it to some unsavory characters but they are few and far between. FWC does patrol the area on foot and boat so be sure to have your license and the correct size of fish and season. If you happen to get hungry their are plenty of local restaurants and or pubs to grab a quick bite.

Fishing used to be pretty good. A lot of grass has disappeared. Very few redfish. Okeechobee overflow has not helped water quality. Red tide is killing a lot of fish and not being dealt with. There have been a few studies but, NO results. Too bad because Charlotte Harbor is a large attraction for sportsmen and tourists.

The state worker inside the building was extremely helpful. But there is not much else there except to get my passport stamped.
