Unfortunately, Isla couldn't completely convince me. Although the location is cozy, I found it a bit too small and loud. It also lacks that special something that would set it apart from other Berlin cafés. The cappuccino tasted good, but I found it to be overpriced in relation to its size - even though I'm willing to pay more for high-quality coffee. The sandwich on offer left something to be desired in both presentation and taste.

We went there for the breakfast, asked if they have a table and seated. Then waited for some time with the expectation of having the menu soon. They didn’t bring the menu, and we didn’t want to wait for the breakfast and ordered cake and coffee. Our coffees were prepared and waited at the bar for a while, because there were no one to serve it. If they told us we should order first or get the food/drink by ourselves we would do that btw. Anyways, cakes were delicious, tahini cream chocolate cake is definitely worth to try.

Super sweet coffee - with a cozy garden in the backyard. Delicious cake - amazing donuts and the soft boiled egg on bread dish looks fantastic. So I will come back. Coffee taste better stronger with double espresso.

Always good to be back to Isla when we are in Berlin. The coffee tastes good. The baked goods are tasty. The staff are kind. The flat white is very good. Better than latte for me as it shows stronger coffee taste. The green coffee mug is nice. The milk taste is a bit too blunt for my taste. Also tried oat milk but didn’t really like. Some says .. the coffee taste used to be better but things do change over time and it is one of the better ones in town.

Isla is a very nice and welcoming food place in Berlin. The food was amazing, especially the Granola, with its crunchy and sweet ingredients. All details are in place! In addition, the the two girls who work there are so kind and professional. Don't miss to visit this place for a fresh, healthy, and fast brunch!

Coffee was great, I tried a kinda grilled cheese sandwich+kimchi (a spicy goal). Everything was good, kuchen were good, atmosphere a bit loudy. Def will be back.

Good food. The food menu gets an update every now and then. They usually have a sandwich or two on it (like grilled cheese) ans some kind of eggs on toast. In the summertime, they have tables in a quiet Innenhof. They usually have pastries from Albatross (very good). The few last times I‘ve been to Isla though it smelled like a chlorine-based disinfectant in there.

Sweet cafe on a normally busy street, Isla was a sunny little haven. The self-roasted Isla coffee was creamy, sweet and smooth; the Mushroom Brioche was spicy and fresh (loved that chili oil), and the other baked good (many from Albatross) were abundant. Service was friendly and fast! I’ll be back!

Coffee and food are on the next level! They've got an amazing menu. On the picture you see a brioche I had with ricotta cheese and sweet potato on top, but there are way more awesome options. The only thing I regret, is that it's not a place to study with a laptop, so I felt a pressure to leave

I came here three different times while visiting Berlin. Staff is very friendly. On the third visit we sat down for breakfast, and I was beyond impressed with the food. So not skip the mushroom Mushrooms on Toast. The Kimcheese sandwich was also amazing. Very cute and simple indoor space.

generally had very great experience at this cafe and the terrace inside seemed really nice. the only thing is that tableware is made of recycled materials (which is amazing), however, it doesn’t really keep the drink warm long enough.

A fantastic coffee and breakfast experience. I’ve visited a couple of different breakfast and speciality coffee places in Berlin and this one remains my personal favorite.

Such a gem of a spot - incredible fruity espresso + the food is unreal. I’ve have the kimchi grilled cheese, spicy peanut tempeh sandwich and several of the loaf cakes slices and all have been outrageously good. Very warm welcoming staff + lovely indoor and outdoor seating to work in a notebook or read. For sure an essential coffee spot to visit when in Berlin

You are very friendly. The coffee tasted very strange - kind of like a second brew/press - but that's just my personal taste. The croissant with egg etc. was funny and also delicious. The fact that you're not allowed to open your laptop to send an email is understandable and strange at the same time. I hope a Charles Bukowski (2.0) doesn't come along at some point 🤡... Writers or others on your part could already be distinguished from stock brokers... As we all know, Berlin is the new Wuppertal - but there's nothing like that even in New York... that's what you ask At most, a sign on the table saying that you live from the sale... I wouldn't come back for that reason - all the best 🍀

Lovely cafe with plenty of seating both in front, inside and out in the courtyard. Good pastries from Albatross. A mainstay in the neighborhood.

Great place to meet with friends or read a book. A good amount of seating; there’s more space in the back. The coffee was served at a great temperature and tasted really good! I also had the toast with hard boiled eggs and salsa verde. It looked like a small portion but surprisingly filled me up.

The cakes are simply the greatest, and everything I want in a cake and tasty options for vegan and gluten free). I have to restrict myself to just a weekly visit otherwise I would be just be eating too many. Coffee is also good and the service is a delight.

Love coming here for a quiet time alone. To read or to simply people watch. The food and specially the service set this place apart from the other cafes in Berlin :). Just want to point out one small detail that’s been bothering me during my visits, there’s a funky smell that lingers around the counter area ( maybe a clogged sewage or something). If you sit by the window you can really smell it. So it would be cool to have it checked out. Might be a simple fix .

Everything is great about isla. Food is awesome. I love the tempeh sandwich (bring it back haha) and the eggs on toast. Coffee is great. Chili hot choco is to die for. People are super nice. 👌 my favourite go to place. I was even hesitant to write this review because I wanted to keep it as a hidden gem. But they deserve all of the stars.

Good coffee with possibility to base it on sprout milk which is still not popular milk in many places. So it's a nice thing to have this possibility. It's also nice that they have choice of pastries from Albatross. I recommend Queen A and Bostock for sure, the rest I still have to try. They also have good sandwiches for brunch. The only thing is that I think that those sandwiches could be a 1-2 euro cheaper. This is the only minus. I hope I'll be back soon.

I love this place and the food. My favorite is the kimchi grilled cheese. Also, actually, I do appreciate the laptop policy! It makes it more likely to get a table to enjoy your coffee and food.

  • 4/5 Paris G. 2 years ago on Google
Coffee quality one of the best I ever had, I thing the breakfast is to expensive for what you get but tasty. Otherwise I go to that place 4 days a week. They ask me the same working stuff every single time if Im vaccinated and if I want milk to my coffee, it's getting boring after 8 months doing the same think. I'm going there every second day for 2 years but the service is this classic Berlin hipster no laughing attitude, but coffee is good so.

Been here three times. It’s a cute little space with nice coffee. Conveniently located close to Boddinstr. U-Bahn. They also offer a little selection of merchandise and coffee beans. Nice service. It does need some ventilation in my opinion.

Super friendly staff; the woman working there took the time to talk to me about Berlin Art Week, which was really nice of her. I ordered Smokey mushrooms on toast. It was quite a thoughtful and elaborate dish - unfortunately I have the feeling that it was pesto on toast with a sprinkling of mushrooms and peaches - the mushrooms were completely overpowered. Everything was also not-hot not-cold, which was confusing. The bread’s crust was very tough and chewy. I was sceptical about the peaches but they turned out to be a welcome addition. For the work that went into it, 8.50€ is a fair price.

Don’t miss the garden out back. 🪴A small oasis in a busy neighborhood. They’re really the best coffee around, and I highly recommend the warm polenta loaf with caramelized onions.

This little coffee house is a definite must if you are in the area. Saying that we travelled 30mins because of the previous reviews. Staff were really accommodating as we are a party of 5 and the place was busy when we arrived! The fact that we don't speak German wasn't a problem. We ordered and the food came beautifully presented, ticking the senses box before even eating it. We ordered the pulled mushroom on toast with egg, spicy peanut and coleslaw sandwich and 3 grilled cheese sandwiches for the kids minus the kimchi! Everything was shared and went down a treat! Oat lattes could have been a touch hotter but that's the picky side of me as everything else could not have been faulted! Get yourself to Isla Coffee!

The batista with the beard is arrogant and rude, who at multiple occasions refused to service (we are buying bagged coffee, it's just about taking the cash and passing the bag) us either a few minutes prior or after closing, despite us being reoccurring customers. Thanks for making us swear off you, Isla, it has been a good run. P.S.: I simply think it's nice that you are defending your staff here, Peter. However, you know perfectly well that a string of bad customer services could easily turn regulars away, on top of that suggesting them to head to internet or Amazon as an alternative... Well, we used to regard Isla as a community coffee institution with humanity and merit, guess that was entirely wrong. There are plenty of other cafes in the neighborhood anyways.
