Definitely worth visiting this museum. It is amazing what they were able to reconstruct inside of the building. It opens at 10 am, you can enter the building via a side door in the right side of the stairs. The audio is free, so make sure to pick it up. Also: try to get your ticket online since there are dedicated time slots for entering.

To apreciate this museum you must and some history of it's exhibits. It's been a long time since i visited it, but it will stay in my memory forever! But it would be more suitable to see this exhibits in their home countries!

Access the museums from simon gallery. A great cafe and shop is available. The Pergamon museum has a great collection including mosaic, sculptures, Islamic collections. Many families come with their hands on activities with their kids. You can take the audio guides. The museum is accessible.

A must visit museum in Berlin. Museum has so much collection of historical antique items. Ishtar gate is the main attraction and it's beautiful and huge. Also the Roman market fascade is huge and it's well preserved in museum. Audio guide helps in getting the information easily about all the artifacts. Very much recommended museum in Berlin.

Riesig, einfach riesig.

A definite must-see when in Berlin. The descriptions of everything are in English and German. It was a bit disappointing that the Pergamon Altar was closed when we went, but we knew that in advance. It was well worth the ticket costs regardless. You could easily spend an entire day there, but we had tickets to other museums as well for the day, so we were only there for about 2.5 hours. I understand why it’s so controversial. It’s sad to know other cultures lost pieces of their history for these things to be here. However, it’s definitely worth the time and money to see such a well preserved collection of history from around the world, no matter your feelings on it. Such a cool place to learn about history of many different cultures!

Maybe the best museum in the entire world! Even I you hate to see a museum, even if you don’t want to spend even one second in a museum during a coty trip or a holiday, for the Pergamon you must make time! Awesome museum! Unbelievable.

It's a crazy moment for me as I belong to those stolen, Borrowed or sold monuments! I was speechless the whole time observing my history in other people hands! yeah, we know that they got the runes in Smart and legal ways but it was never ethical and respectful for the original owners! You can argue that those monuments belong to the human race and it's safer in European museums but don't forget that they were never asked to share! Besides who would agree on moving a whole temple inside a museum? The stars are for hygienic, cleaning and information explaining (although I can argue with some cuneiform translation).

A wonderful museum, not so big, but very well organized. It contains a lot of unique collectibles and antiquities, and they have a very wonderful gift shop. The special thing about this museum is that many of the important antiquities were originally stolen and they claim that these pieces were purchased from some merchants or owners, but what I cannot understand is: Who owns the Ishtar Gate!! They make millions of euros every month from possessions that do not even belong to them.

It was amazing museum. I wish we could see the sculptures in origin locations. But the museum is good idea to protect them. My advise that you should take your ticket before the visiting day. Because you couldn’t find any ticket in same day. It takes nearly two hours.

What a beautiful place. Coming from California, where history begins in the 1930s, it was stunning to see relics from the earliest religions and rule of law. The recreations are epic and give you a sense of proportion to your own existence.

A museum visit which will live long in my memory. Displays from Ancient Babylon and Assyria, deconstructed and moved to Berlin brick by brick, simply amazing viewing them knowing the history behind them and relating them to the stories from the Old Testament. This is certainly a must visit to a museum which was hidden for so long behind the Berlin Wall.

A lot of interesting ancient materials. Not only the main attraction, Babylon, is quite nice, but also other Ancient temples and materials are really enriching. Upstairs you can also find a lot of Arabic things which are very cool. 100% recommended. If you buy your tickets online, you avoid every single time of waiting 😊

Not a bad place. Not too big but enough to see. Pictures attached. It has very good disability access and the staff are very friendly. You need to leave your bags in lockers and need a euro or a 2 euro coin, which is returned after you take your stuff back out. Very bright and airy. Great perspective with the life size exhibits. Worth a visit but it isn't free.

A very nice museum. However, since reducing in size, it was very crowded inside. Even though it's necessary to book a time slot, it seems that these slots are still very full, so it was a bit overwhelming with how many people were inside at one time. The islamic culture section was really beautiful, and the main halls too of course. I can recommend it for the price and the culture for sure!

One of the most interesting museums I have ever been to. Would surely recommend to anyone who likes history. Alot to learn and much beauty to admire. It took us about 3 hours without rushing and we were able to walk through all the exhibits. TIP: Make sure to carry an A4 size bag if you would like to carry some water or any thing else inside with you. There is a coat check area and lockers for bigger bags. You just need 1-2 Euro to access them which you can get back at the end of your tour. Enjoy!

Museum is great but the staff is not especially friendly. Some of them are really nice but you can meet really rude people as well. Collection of artefacts is amazing, especially Ishtar gate. Mandatory museum in Berlin, that’s why 5 stars. Staff max 3

    1. Please book your tickets online as part of a greater tour - combined ticket 🎟, you save time and money but be precise. 2. Amazing museum that has to be on your to-do-list 3. For once more, the "great powers" took away massive pieces of history to exhibit them and get money out of it 4. Regardless of the cost of the ticket or the origins of the historical artifacts, the museum is an Ace and please visit the museum during weekdays (!) Unless you book in advance.

Super!

Incredible, a must see when in Berlin. Book your ticket online for timed entry. Get a locker for jackets and big bags. The wardrobe and lockers are free, just put a Euro into the lock. You will then proceed upstairs however, depending on the visitor flow a museum guard will direct you to a line to wait. The museum is filled with treasures. You can easily spend a few hours here.

The Pergamonmuseum is the best of all the museums and makes sense why it is the most visited on Museum Island. The Ishtar Gate was absolutely breathtaking along large collection of Islamic history well laid out, you will not be bored. Tickets often sell out immediately, so be sure to purchase them well in advance

Watch out, apart from buying the ticket online, you have to book a time slot from the website too, otherwise you will not have the entrance granted!! Amazing museum different from any other you will visit, nowhere else you will find monumental art like Ishtar's Gate, or the Pergamum's Altar (currently under maintenance, until 2023).

It’s great museum to get insights about ancient life and culture. It contains very rich exhibitions. The museum is very beautiful inside and outside. Prepare to spend around one-two hours here. Better to buy tickets in advance as possible to meet long queues. Definitely mast see place in Berlin and inside of Museum Island. And better to visit Pergamonmuseum Panorama in the same time.

This is the best museum on Museum Island in Berlin. It is necessary to book tickets online in advance before visiting, otherwise, entry will be denied! Most of the artifacts come from ancient cities that I had been to before. Of course it is way more beautiful to see them in their own place. But I am starting to question how well they were going to be preserved if they were there, day by day.

Splendid museum with awe-inspiring exhibits. I’m not familiar with the middle eastern cultures, so this exhibition was very informative and eye-opening to me. The only regret is that I didn’t manage to finish the exhibition before the museum closed. You probably need about 2-2.5h to see everything here.

A medium sized museum focusing on Middle Eastern/Islamic culture. The main focus of the museum is reconstructions of historical buildings, mostly interior or exterior walls with few three dimensional reconstructions. In addition to this there are a good number of statues, artifacts (such as plates or bases), and figurines. As of January 2020 the main entrance as well as one of the major exhibits, a temple reconstruction, are closed for restoration. This has cause the main entrance to move. Overall a worthwhile museum to visit with content for 1-2 hours. The cost is package with the other local museums but reasonable for the content.

By the time the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum on Museum Island (today the Bodemuseum) had opened in 1904, it was clear that the edifice was not large enough to host all of the art and archaeological treasures being excavated under German supervision. Excavations were underway in the areas of ancient Babylon, Uruk, Assur, Miletus, Priene and ancient Egypt, and objects from these sites could not be properly displayed within the existing German museum system. Wilhelm von Bode, director of the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum, initiated plans to build a new museum nearby to accommodate ancient architecture, German post-antiquity art, and Middle Eastern and Islamic art.

Magnificient ancient Babylon, Uruk, Assur, Miletus, Priene and ancient Egypt objects and, of course, Pergamon altar and Ishtar gate. The collection expanded with the excavations in Olympia, Samos, Pergamon, Miletus, Priene, Magnesia, Cyprus and Didyma. It's strange that none of these civilizations has a connection with Germany, but they were able to collect and preserve all of these precious collections even through wartime.

Awesome museum! Biblically significant exhibit with the reconstructed Ishtar Gate, originally built by Nebuchadnezzar II of the Babylon Kingdom... Much of the stores appearing in the Book of Daniel! The starkly deep blue and the really tall construction were really beautiful and grandeur. One can imagine the fear and awe that must have brought on to the visitors from the apparent power of the kingdom. This brings a different perspective of how great Daniel's success was i/n the Kingdom as an Israelite. One of several must-see place in Berlin!

The museum is a must-see. It holds inside jewels that are thousands of years old and come from the most ancient civilizations in Syria, Iraq (Mesopotamia), Greece, and the Islamic world. Perhaps the most famous and important are the Ishtar Gate and the Pergamon altar. The building itself is very interesting as it was reconstructed by the British architect David Chipperfield.

Tickets need to be purchased online in advance. We first came here without tickets and they told us all the tickets were sold out for the day. So we purchased tickets online for another day. The museum is really crowded at the moment because it will close for reconstruction from Oct. The famous Ishtar gate and Miletus market gate were magnificent and amazing and without a doubt one of the highlights of the whole museum island. But shame that the main Pergamon altar and Façade of the Caliph's palace were already closed and we couldn’t see them. Also the museum cafe was not accessible from the museum and we had to get out the museum to go to the cafe (museum doesn’t allow reentry) so if we could only spend around 2.5 hours inside of museum until kids got hungry.

We arrived and waited in line for about 10 minutes and were given a ticket for 4 hours time (which was no surprise to us without booking in advance) The museum was very beautiful and interesting, I got the audio guide and followed through the museum learning about the artifacts and art on display. It was very detailed and easy to follow. It took about 2 hours to go through the museum and I didn't listen to every single audio prompt! The displays inside the museum make you feel like you have traveled back in time and is very emersive. The gift shop had some nice treasures at a reasonable price. Tip: the first Sunday of each month the museum (almong with most others) are free to visit.

I've been there around Christmas and it was packed. I managed to go inside and see everything and when I came out there was a 3 hours waiting line to get in. The Pergamon alter was not open to the public on December 2019. I visited the museum with an archeologist that studied this period and places and it was very interesting, I recommend doing a guided tour if possible.

The Pergamonmuseum is nothing short of a wonder in itself. Its rooms are overflowing with some of the world’s most impressive, long buried, treasures. The museum encompasses the vast history of the Ancient East, with collections that can not be experienced elsewhere. The museum is named after the Pergamon Altar, a Hellenistic masterpiece of white stone architecture. The imposing structure invites you to walk the steps of 2000 years of history and behold its intricacies close-up. But don’t get lost in this wonder for too long, as there are many more under the museum’s roof. Artefacts have been gathered from Iran, Asia Minor, Egypt and the Caucasus, and these worlds have been recreated for you to explore within the Pergamonmuseum.

We made the mistake of entering through the wrong entrance (the main entrance had some A4 pieces of paper to say the doors are out of use), so we thought to try the cafe entrance to the left which was open and had people walking in and out. I was greeted by a short-tempered waiter who asked where we were trying to go. After explaining the situation he said “No no, you’ve got this completely wrong, the entrance is clearly there and now you have to exit this way”. I didn’t mind the directness since we clearly made a mistake, but he then ridiculed us to a table of customers who also seemed to relish the thought that some stupid tourists couldn’t understand the pretty vague and misleading entrance instructions.

On the first floor there is a good exposition about the Islam culture. The entrance is 18 bucks if you decide to go to this building plus the one next to it. Bring your student card! It would allow you to access to a 50% discount on entry tickets. Can be students id all over the world.

The Pergamonmuseum is a listed building on the Museum Island in the historic centre of Berlin and part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

Shortly after the political change, it is no longer a museum, but a construction site. The Spree is ideal as a water dispenser for the renovation. It may be correct that this building is in need of renovation, but the work continues to this day. I'm already excited to see which alleged historical exhibits will be housed in the completed building. Entry will likely cost around EUR 15 to EUR 20. Nevertheless, the architect went to great lengths to present another masterful building in this city. Schon jetzt bin ich gespannt, welche angeblichen historischen Ausstellungsstücke, in dem fertiggestellten Gebäude untergebracht werden sollen. Pergamon Museum is one of the 5 museums located on what is called Museums Island in the heart of Berlin. Pergamon covers the antiquities from the ancient Egyptians to Assyrians, Geek, and Roman periods. Here, you will happen upon full reconstruction of Architectural Monuments. In this review I will cover the ISHTAR GATE. The gate was constructed around 575 BC as part of a processional way, in the inner city of Babylon, in Iraq today. In 1904 a German archeological team excavated the gate and smuggled it from Iraq as the Ottoman authorities, who were occupying the country at the time, turned a blind eye. Today, Ishtar Gate is one of jewels in Pergamon Museum with its glazed colorful bricks that still retain their original colors after almost 3000 years. It was a little sad for me to visit this museum as a turkish person because almost all of the artifacts came from my country. Either they were sold or stolen...but it is sad to see a whole temple taken from a city that actually still exists today in Turkey.

Incridible!!!!! What a nice place to go and learn more about the history of architecture. It is definetly a must go. If you by the Museum pass, you will have 3 days to visit many museuns in Berlin, which is very good to visit the Museum Islândia, where Perganom is located. Here you can ask for a Digital áudio guide and enjoy history and extra information that will open your eyes to places you have never thought about visiting before. You will see the biggest original structure in a museum and enjoy brilliant craftsmanship for tiles, potery, tapestry and many others. It is definetly a MUST GO.

Great museum - not just judging by the artifacts but the building itself. The place is huuuuge! Get a ticket for all the museums to save some money. The 360 panorama experience is a great addition. It lies just behind the museum in a different building.

Fascinating and beautiful, if you are into Mesopotamia or archeology in general, every room on the first floor will blow your mind 🤯, with nowhere else to be seen artifacts and the Indiana Jones style stories behind their discovery. Plan to spend two to three hours here. Do book ahead online (it’s easy and way better than waiting for an hour to get in), as the queue can grow to extreme lengths.

The museum is not large (compared with others in capitals of countries) but the exhibition is amazing. Definitely worth a visit! Also the area around has lots of interesting sights, and there is Berlin Art Festival on Sunday, so it’s a great place to spend the weekend.

Very nice museum You should definitely visit. Buying tickets online is good idea since You don’t have to wait in queue. I highly recommend to take free audioguide. They’re in many languages and help to find out more information about every exhibition.

Magnificent masterpieces from ancient Babylon, which even far more better than the famous museums in London and New York. Highly recommend to visit here if you are in Berlin. The ticket is better to be bought in advance and to book an appointment time.

A speciality museum which showcases some of the most important relics in human civilization. Ishtar gate is magnificent in all its glory. However bare in mind that some exhibits are just replicas with the actual artifact in other museums. Nevertheless a place worth visiting.

The museum blew my mind, this is a must visit place in Berlin. There are things from all across the world, you can spend an entire day reading through all the information. If you’re a history buff, this is really worth it. People argue that it’s not ethical to have all of this taken from different countries but to Germany’s credit they really managed to conserve all of this history; made it available for the entire world to access. I would highly recommend this specially if you’re confused which museum to visit on the island.

Visited as part of Museum Sunday, so didn’t pay for a ticket. I booked a 5pm slot and it was the perfect time to go, there were no queues and most exhibits were relatively quiet. It’s a fascinating museum in general and it’s worth going to both levels, with some of the Persian artefacts being particularly impressive. Interesting decision to require people to leave all coats in the cloakroom, but at least that was free to do.

The audio guide is included, overall really nice exhibition. I was amazed by the size of specific exhibits, I feel like if you are interested in the history hidden behind them you can spend many hours in the museum.

It’s one of the best Museums in Germany 🇩🇪. The Babylon, Millet and Pergamon pieces were massive and so beautiful. I cannot explain with words. The shop was also very good, you can find a lot of interesting books and souvenirs for yourselves. I definitely recommend to get in and listen 🎧 audio explanations for the exhibition.

One can easily spend more than 2 hours here if interested. The collection is huge and enormous. Definitely one of the largest museums. The audio guide is very well designed. The Mesopotamian, Babylonian and Islamic collections are incredible. 12 euros for direct ticket bought at the museum. Online booking in advance could help.

If you haven't seen this museum till now, don't lose the chance to get familiar with the awesome history of great ancient human civilizations, it also can be interesting for kids or teenagers. Apparently it is gradually getting under construction section after another section, unfortunately I missed some important parts due to the reconstruction work, later on I had to check the missing parts on the original video & virtual tour of the museum.

We did no wait because we had purchased the tickets online, but for ticket sale the line was about two hours long(on a Tuesday in the middle of the day). The museum is incredibly constructed and truly remarkable! Very full indeed though. Still, worth a visit while in Berlin.

We still haven't made it in without advance tickets, since it was sold out. There are some fantastic pieces in this collection. The museum itself is ready for the renovation scheduled this fall.

Impressive exhibition. I rate 1 star because of the heating. 20 degrés outside, how dare you waste energy! Have you heard about global warming! You will keep burning (bloody)Russian gas for nothing for how long?

One of the must visit museums on the Berlin museum island and also one of the biggest in Berlin. Plan in at least 2h to see everything but the collection is amazing.

Wow! You need to go to the Panorama exhibition first which is only 10 minutes away to get the full impact of this museum. Whilst I believe artefacts should remain in their original location I have to confess that having the opportunity to see the tiles, freezes and the temple was terrific. I am in awe of the skills required by the stonemasons to produce such wonderful work. You need to book your time as they sell out very quickly and restrict numbers. Worth purchasing the Berlin Welcome card which includes museums on museum Island and transport. The Panorama Exhibition was extra.

Its a great museum - but only 3 stars because its in renovation modus and you donz get to see all the greatness in in. So at the moment in my opinion it isnt worth the time - come back when it will reopen

Super popular museum, tons of tourists and warm AC, also need to watch out don’t put your jacket on the forearm. But they designed a rest corner in special exhibition of Uzbekistan , which is very nice for quiet moments.

Well worth the entrance fee! Many stunning exhibits from across the Middle East. Carefully reconstructed and presented to you. Some of the smaller pieces, away from the huge set piece displays, are just as impressive

One of the best and most ancient museums that I have seen! If you want to visit here I totally recommend it to book the ticket one day before since it has a lot if visitors. Also I have heard that they are going to close the museum from October 2023 for around 10 years for maintenance! So hurry up and do not miss it. Most of the monuments inside this museum are related to the Persian empire period! The first women right is written in that period and you can see that there.

The artifacts were amazing, it’s worth the visit. Though my experience with asking for information was not that pleasant. I asked the lady at the counter where i could get a ticket and she showed me a very ling queue that if one sees it, would be discouraged to join in the line which actually happened to me. But nevertheless i decided to take the chance which was good because then after halfway through the line i saw some people just going past the line and i wondered where they were going. Then I realized that the line i was in was not even for buying the tickets it was for those who had tickets already and they were queuing to get in. So I walked towards the front and that’s where i was ablevto see the counter for buying tickets. I was told that the tickets were sold out for the time frame iwas there then so i had to come back the next day for a 13:30 slot. This confusion could have been avoided if the information counter lady had guided me accordingly. I wasted so much time for this museum but good thing i had the time but for those who doesn’t, please be aware that the long queue is not for buying the ticket. Another thing is that when i was about to enter the museum, there i was told that i had to place my backpack in the locker in the lower lobby so at this point i lost my place in the queue again good thing i still saw where i stood last. I would have expected a more professional handling of the flow of museum visitors in such a popular destination. Better signs and competent staff
