We did the Dialogue in the Dark tour and also checked out the exhibits in the foyer. The exhibits were well done, thought-provoking and provided a lot of cool, new insight and information into barriers and different disabilities. The walk in the dark was an interesting experience, too. However, we were very unlucky with the guide. He was charming, but he kept switching back to German A LOT, on a tour which was menat to be in English specifically. During the visit of the Dark Bar, we only talked German as well. Or more like, our guide had a monologue in German. I speak German, but my boyfriend does not and he missed more than half of the guides explanations and stories, because it was all in German. So he felt very left out and excluded and overwhelmed (he is very introverted, has autism and all the noise in the dark was already a lot to process, but listening to a language he does not speak made it worse and he did not feel like he could speak up and say something). So it was a bit strange to have an exhibition about barriers, including language barriers, talking about how to make society more inclusive for people with disabilities, but then to be so actively excluded. We were both very disappointed. We would have appreciated a calmer more thoughtful guide who you can talk to and have a dialogue with.

(Translated by Google) Today we were silent as part of our company outing for the Tour of the Senses in Dialogue. The guided tour was great, we got a new insight into life without our sense of hearing, which was very educational and wonderfully entertaining and interactive. Thanks to Sören, our guide, who accompanied us great.

Amazing experience ! Very unique and everyone should try this. We experience the life of a blind person, and our guide was a blind person, i believe her name was eva, she was amazing. You use your senses and see the daily struggles our world put in the way of blind people. Very eye opening.

In this place you can try 2 quite unique experiences: live for an hour as deaf-mute person or live for an hour and a half as a blind person. I chose the first one and was very satisfied with that. Our deaf-mute guide was a very fun guy, with an extremely positive attitude. I was impressed with the ease of gestures and the variety of facial expressions he used to communicate. At the end of the visit you could ask him some questions and an interpreter translated his answers. Price of the ticket is 17€.

It was a real eye opener for the whole family (2 adults with 4 kids, ages 19-12). We took the deaf-tour and we got to experience a little bit what life is like for a deaf person living in a society that can hear. With noise cancelling headphones on, we were asked through body- and sign language to communicate and play several games. It was really wonderful while at the same time confrontational. At the end we were given the opportunity to ask the guide some questions with the help of an interpreter, which gave us some further insight at a more personal level what it is like to be deaf and the struggles deaf people face on a daily basis. Tobias (our guide) was truly wonderful, very warm, welcoming and very encouraging to all of us to step out of our comfort zone and try to communicate with him through any means possible. And he was very good at understanding our improvised hand signals and mimics. We enjoyed the experience a lot and were glad we got to do this as a family. Much thanks to Tobias, as well as the interpreter who spoke English as well as German! Really a must-do while in Hamburg!

This is an outstanding way to leap out of your comfort zone! There really is so much more to communication than sound. The guide who showed us around was so enthusiastic & welcomed us into his world, teaching us how to communicate. We felt safe & well looked after & really enjoyed our tour. I think this kind of thing should form part of the standard curriculum for all school children. It would give them insight & understanding of their peers who communicate differently from them.

One if the greater experiences that I've ever had! Now I know how hard is for blind people to manage with the world! Thanks to everyone who works there! It turned my view of life upside down.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting experience in my opinion a bit bumpy start. As in the dialogue in the dark, which has its entrance in the same house, one experiences here by conscious renouncement of a perception sense, here the hearing perception, how difficult the communication is without hearing. Our guide Andrejus was totally friendly and very motivated. He's really gone out of his way to teach a bunch of clueless people the world of sign language and communication without speaking and listening. At the end there was still a question and answer session with a somewhat bitchy interpreter. Price / performance with 17.50 euros for about 1 hour activity quite expensive. Overall, but recommended. The program is equally suitable for adults and children.

JUST WOW! The experience was in English and we booked in german without knowing but the super nice man in the reception was able to add us in the group they had in English at 5pm that day. When we came we didn’t even know what we were going to do. I can’t say much or I would ruin the fun but our guide didn’t speak that well English and I can tell I was amazed by the way she guided us through this experience. She was kind lovely and had a lot of patience. It makes you realise how hard the world can be for a blind person.

Chose to attend Dialogue in the Dark(90 Min tour through the darkness) .I needed an English Guide and the Employees were kind enough to call back twice to confirm the timings of the English guide. The Tour itself was extremely fun. Our guide-Bela clearly knew what he was doing and knew how to make the experience more fun and interactive.Simply Awesome. Keep up the Good work.

Fantastic experience, it really is something new and unusual that I've not heard of anywhere else. Being led through the pitch black darkness by a blind guide was an eye opening experience (pun intended). Our guide, Tobi, made sure everyone felt safe and it was a pleasure chatting with him at the end of the tour. Great bonus: You never get to see your guide since you meet them in the darkness which is also teaching you how a blind/visually impaired person meets and perceives people. Strong recommendation from me.

This was a truly fantastic experience, to immerse yourself in the shoes of those who are visually impaired. Our guide, I believe his name was Mark, was very kind and patient. The lady at the reception desk was also very nice and explained everything well to us in English on arrival. Thank you!

Macht weiter so!

Went for both Dialog im Dunkeln Dialog also im Stillen. Both are super amazing experiences, also fair-price. Without a doubt, a must-do in Hamburg, very eye- (and ear-) opening. Dialog im Dunkeln: a well-designed tour to raise awareness and understanding on ''seeing'' the world in different perspective. Be prepared for the ''challenges'' and chilling time at the end :) Dialog im Stillen: also a nice, peaceful tour. Learned to speak with our hand and face, and listen with our eyes. And of course, with our big heart. The last-minute ticket is also very recommended, also for non-German speaker. My only problem was that 60-Minutes felt so fast (that means, it is far from boring :)). Plus all the people involved were mega nice! Thanks a lot.

This was a terrific experience. It gave me a small sense of how the blind navigate this world of ours. Unbelievable how much I depend on my eyes to inform me of a situation. Our guide, Jeremy, was caring, funny and informative. I highly recommend this tour to anyone. Thank you Dialoghaus Hamburg. Antonio

Today my friend and I visited the dark room. It was a really unusual experience! I recommend it to everyone to feel it yourself how to be in a total darkness! Also, thanks to Jens and Andriy. English-speaking tourists are also welcomed ☺️ PS: we’ll be looking forward to visit “the silent room”

It is an amazing experience everybody should make. I was really impressed with the idea of the museum and being showed what it is like to function as a blind person for this short period of time. Really instructive and thought provoking. Please keep in mind you should book a tour in advance. One of the best museums I’ve ever visited!

Everyone has to come here and have this experience in order to “touch” a world of blind people and understand their life and wveryday struggles. It makes u more sencitive and invcreases the awareness of “dark” side of living. Very much recommended!!!

We went this weekend for the dinner in the dark experience and I can totally recommend. It was a really fun and different experience, our waiter/guide (Bela) was amazing and made the whole experience even better. Only downside is that I find the price (80€) a bit expensive for the food you get, food is ok but not worth 80€, I know is an experience and because of that it will always be a bit overpriced but I think 50/60€ would be more appropriate. Note: bring some cash, drinks are paid inside and need to be in cash!

Fascinating and cool experience! But the guide was very impatient, and the groups were too big and overlapped with the others. It seemed like they prefer quantity over quality.

(Translated by Google) A very special experience to see the world from the perspective of a deaf person. I can really recommend it to everyone. It definitely raises awareness of the subject. It is particularly great that the guides are deaf and you can ask them questions afterwards.

(Translated by Google) Insanely interesting tour in dialogue in silence. We had a very dear deaf woman as a guide, with whom it was really fun to communicate only by hand signals. Was a very educational tour that showed us how easy it is for us "healthy" people in everyday life.

Great tour! We took the Dialog in the Dark tour in English and it was superb! Our guide Jens was talented and handled well the group both in German and in English. He was also very friendly and we felt safe in the darkness. I can warmly recommend this tour and Dialogue House in Hamburg. If you plan to visit Hamburg, make sure to take this tour too!

I did the Dialogue in Silence tour. I loved it! It was a unique experience with having to think differently about communication and along the way I had some “a-ha!” moments understanding a bit about how sign language works and how to communicate more effectively. I didn’t know there would be Q&A with our guide at the end so I regret not having questions at the ready and of course I’ve thought of lots since leaving. It’s also made me think more about accessibility in every day life. It’s even got me wanting to learn to sign. Julia was a terrific host that left a wonderful impression. Thank you!

We had Ray as our English speaking blind guide for our 90 minute tour of living life in the dark. He was fun, informative, and very charismatic. I was amazed at the variety of situations we were able to "experience". I would recommend for anyone able to go.

Great experience. You will learn about the world of blind people. How they perceive the world, how they feel it, and what they enjoy or struggle with. Our guide Eve was a wonderful host - answering our curiosities, being fun and helpful during the 1h and a half that lasts the tour. Definitely recommended!

It's a great experience. I tried the dialogue in the Dark, where we walked totally in the dark. We experience a city, a park and a little flat. It's an eye opening experience! It's was awesome. I reccomend going on tour with Mario, he's a nice blind guy who'll explain is point of view. I totally reccomend :)

What a great and awesome experience... We went through the tour without hearing aka. Trying to be deaf. And the tour were fun and entertaining. It would be more fun having more time to talk afterwards, and maybe learning more about living with the disability :) But great experience.

As a family of nine, we had to book in two groups, but when we arrived, the staff member acted to quickly to accomodate us and put us into one group. I felt challenged as I tried to navigate some of life's routine tasks without my sight. I envied our guide, who was born blind, and has learned how to manage it. He was patient with us most of the time. He shared his perspective and passions, and entertained us with stories and a variety of voice impressions and English accents.

Wonderful experience that helped us to understand even more the value of all our senses. The impression got even better because of amazing guide Andrei, who was joking all the time and shared a lot of his own everyday life experience as a blind person. Highly recommended place to visit!

We had a lovely experience at the Dialogue House. I have been trying to find tickets since two years and I finally found it a couple of days ago. It was interesting to feel and experience complete darkness for a whole 60mins ! It’s interesting how we are guided by other senses automatically when we can’t see and this experience is like a whole new level. ( for eg. listening and touch ). Our guide was fantastic and the whole tour was in English so my friend and I felt comfortable & thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you 😊

I did the "Dialog im Dunkeln" tour and except for the fact that afterwards you realize how lucky you are that you are able to see (and that's great thanks God) - there's nothing special about it. I didn't feel good in the complete darkness, my eyes were also pretty uncomfortable.

We did the Dialogue in the Dark with six participants in total. The guide was really sociable and competent and guided us around really well. A must-do in Hamburg!

Great experience! I did the Darkness-Tour and the guides explained clearly and were friendly, and also witty and personal. Every sighted person should do this to get an understanding for blind people. What I did not expect but what added to the experience, was that the group of visitors in the same timeslot had to work together, first of all not bump in to each other but also other tasks. It was fascinating to interact not just with the environment but also with them.

We had an amazing guide called Andre, he was extremely empathetic and comical. He could guide us through the space with a gentle calm. From the moment we walked into the door we were introduced to educational games that already begin to help us question how we use our senses. I would highly recommend!
