Inside, this place is amazing. The displays and dioramas are beautiful and informational. Unfortunately, the service was poor. We arrived at 16.45 and purchased our tickets, but at 17.45 we were suddenly rounded up by an irate and very rude security guard who frogmarched us out. I went to the desk and asked why they listed the closing time as 18.00, if we had to leave at 17.45, and he said that after 17.45 you can stay on the ground floor but not be on the upper floor/s. The security guard however had marched us right to the front door, specifically stopping us from remaining on the ground floor. This left a pretty bad taste in our mouths, especially as if they had have mentioned this when we bought our tickets, we could have started on the upper floors instead of on the ground floor. We missed nearly 2 floors worth of the museum, which was very unfortunate as it has a brilliant collection. In short, displays are amazing, take at least 2 hours to see them all, the upper floors close at 17.45 and customer service was bad.

Marvelous building, such a beautiful architecture. Lovely compendium of animals. The building itself is a piece of art

Very nice and cozy place to visit in the winter or any season since it's indoor. Very informative with a wide collection of animals in German and English translation, although not every is translated. If you have kids, or are a couple then this is a really fun place to visit but you get more kids on Sunday xp I wish they had more sea animals and at least something about dinosaurs.

It is essential to note from the outset that this museum distinguishes itself superbly from its contemporaries. While others demand steep entry fees and yet fall short in delivering value, Koenigs Museum strikes a winning balance with its modest charge of 6 euros for adults, along with a rich offering of knowledge on biodiversity and various landscapes. The rainforest section, in particular, was a standout attraction, providing an immersive experience that truly engaged my curiosity. The vast majority of multimedia equipment, from audio to video, was fully operational, enhancing the museum experience significantly. I was able to absorb a wealth of information, unhindered by large crowds. I wholeheartedly recommend this museum for family outings. Its offerings are sure to delight children and provide an enriching, enjoyable day out. Furthermore, I would like to offer a suggestion to the museum team for consideration. The lighting in areas where laser projection-based videos are displayed could be slightly dimmed. The current level of brightness makes it somewhat challenging to view these particular exhibits.

This natural history museum’s collection started in the 1930s. The building is a must see, staircases and closed wooden doors align the long hallways are beautiful. There’s a small aquarium in the basement. So many interactive exhibits, mostly for children, but my husband really enjoyed the butterfly magnificently glass. The day we visited, between Christmas and New Year’s, meant that the small cafeteria on the second floor was closed. We got a coffee and cookie out of a vending machine near the coat racks. Charming and cheap but the coffee tasted of super sweet chocolate.

We, as a family, always enjoy natural history museums. This one isn't big, but there was more on display than we expected. We were pleasantly surprised. The exhibition on the ground floor is beautiful. Only a few texts are in English. But there's free WiFi, so you can use Google translate. There's no cafe on site and parking behind the museum itself is free of charge. The entrance costs €15 for a family. So, it's a great value.

Cool relatively small zoological museum in a beautiful historical bulding. Unlike many similar museums, they did a great job in showing how actual scientific process in zoology and related fields was organised in the past and today - was really cool to see exemplary collections of similarly looking yet distinct beetle subspecies, or listen to recorded bird songs. The museum is probably perfect for kids, there was a lot of interactive stuff, even a virtual reality corner. Some info was (understandably) only in German, but most often doubled in english.

Comparing to other Natural History Museums in Germany, Museum Koenig was a bit smaller. But it is very nice and educating. If you don’t have / like children, don’t go on Sundays it is too crowded.

We have a 2yr old and we've been keen to show her the world the best we can in a covid pandemic. The museum was a big help. We went on a Saturday before 11am and the place was pretty empty and perfect for a young child to explore. There were plenty of animal displays and information as well as small interactive points. Also the aquarium was well worth a visit.

Beautiful museum with excellent exhibits of taxidermied animals. There's even a mini aquarium in the basement with some very funky looking fish. Some (but not all) of the exhibits had English text for the internationals, which was helpful.

Great museum with many animal specimens. The display cases are reasonably spaced apart from each other and do not make me feel cramped like some museums. The price is also very affordable for the numerous specimens this museum offers. In my opinion, 2 - 3 hours should be enough to enjoy the museum. All in all an evening well spent!

Excellent variety of dinosaur species as also variety of animals/reptiles/insects and birds with good info on it. Hearing option through headsets is also available. Don't forget to press required buttons to highlight (lights up automatically) to read the names of the species you wish to. Quite a big museum with two floors. It's worth a visit.

What a lovely place to visit when you are in Bonn! The museum costs 5 euros for adults to get in & 2.50 for students and other discounts. There are three stories of natural history to explore and marvel at. The most amazing thing is all the taxidermy animals- it does feel a bit strange to stare at so many dead animals (this is coming from a huge animal lover) but the species are all so wonderfully preserved that it is the closest that many of us will probably be to such creatures as Southern Elephant Seals or Giraffes. You can walk around and just look at some of the animals, or you can take your time and read all the descriptions that the museum has to offer. English and German are both available for most of the museum's written information.

Very old school museum with so-called Dioramas; An old fashioned way of showing stuffed animals in a “natural” setting with dried plants and painted background. My grandfather worked there a hundred years ago as preparator so it was interesting to see the part that was the history about the museum. But I think it is still the same things as then 😊

This is a normal museum. Noting special there, but I guess it's so educative to take kids there to explore the world in an hour. the lady guide was so nice and I give it 4 stars because there is an important bereau "authentic meeting room" that was a wonderful historical experience

The museum is huge, there is so mich to see. If you don't speak German, it is difficult to understand the information... that's my only regret. Beside a lot of children running around, yelling and touching everything, the Koenig museum is a must to see.

It was nice, our five-year old liked all the animal exhibitions but had been looking forward to seeing the dinosaurs. Couldn't find them so we were confused as to whether it may have been a temporary exhibition previously. Cafe was closed on the day as well so we couldn't even get a bottle of water.

After about 15 years, we come back to the museum only to be nicely surprised with the renovation and the interactions/activities provided. The place is ideal for children but visiting all 3 floors with quite young ones could be exhausting. Kids seem to love the little place in -1 where you find fish, frogs, even (river) snakes. There is a parking facility but places are very few in comparison given the museum's size and popularity.

Now this is what I call a perfect museum - no live animals held in captivity; and a massive, beautiful structure dedicated to the natural sciences. Such a diverse range on exhibition - I don’t think any corner of the world went neglected albeit there were certainly some parts of the world with very little to no coverage (such as the Lut desert, which I expected to see in the desert section). My other issue was how I, a budding ecologist, found myself consistently unsatisfied with the lack of detail in some areas - which makes me believe this museum is rather heavily oriented toward children as opposed to curious academics. For example - they mentioned how fishes cannot survive in the desert but certain fishes do prosper in oases in the deserts. Which fishes? That is a question that should have been answered. But it was left for impossible speculation. A child would not want to know the name of such a species but an academic would. I rest my case. Nevertheless. Solid museum. Maybe one day they’ll build a museum like this in my name for my services to the field…

Oh My God One of the best Museums I've ever been to. The concept that there are no labels and you're determining the animals by yourself with a help of the guide, how the lights illuminate the animal you(re reading about, amazing. The arctic biom was a bit outdated when compared with others. But still, this is amazing.

It was a really good place. It was really fun with all the stuff they put. Like hearing a sound and trying to guess what animal that is. Or to see how big some animals are. Or seeing all the bones. It was a really fun experience.

(Translated by Google) Went to the dinosaur exhibition with our two and a half year old at the beginning of October. Very exciting for her, but of course she wanted to touch everything that is not allowed. So it was a little early for her. But I had a lot of fun. The last time my wife saw me so excited was when I bought our car. Cars and dinosaurs are my thing. What to eat was missing. Watching a bag of fries and dinosaurs 😍 (Original) Waren Anfang Oktober mit unserer zweieinhalb Jährigen bei der Dino-Ausstellung.

Wonderful museum! I think all of the animals existing on the world were there. The fact that they have grouped them according to their habitats was really nice, and the habitats themselves were really realistically built. This is indeed a must-see in Bonn. However, they lack some English explanations in some parts, but I think this doesn't affect the joy. Tickets were €5 for adults and €2.5 for discounted (children, students etc). Go find your favourite animal in the world :)

(Translated by Google) A visit that benefits young and old. We love the savannah and the rainforest the most. The topic has been approached with soft tones. The savannah guide is a creative idea, here everyone is asked to think along and find the animals / peculiarities themselves. The photographic exhibition also spoke to us. We were a little out of breath with the dinosaurs, so we stayed here for the shortest time. The story of Alexander König and the creation of the museum is told very modestly. The museum attaches great importance to compliance with hygiene, which we think is really good. Thank you Bonn!
