Beautiful exposition of mother art, as well as a history of the art scene in Berlin. A detailed explanation is provided about Berlin's influence on art and its development, as well as the alternative styles of art growing in the city during the 60s and 70s.

A very well-curated gallery worth visiting regularly. There usually is more than one exhibition running on the ground floor and a permanent archive on the second floor. German and English tours take place frequently during the day and are free of charge.

Tickets vorab sichern lohnt sich also.

I visited the Berlinische Galerie with some of my local friends during my visit to Berlin. I loved this huge and beautiful place. There are big areas to enjoy contemporary art and it was very i tere Sting to discover all that this gallery can offer. I loved that laser installation by the entrance. If you are into contemporary art, I suggest to check this place out.

Great art museum in Berlin that tells Berlin's story from a different perspective. I think starting the permanent exhibit upstairs and then going to the temporary exhibit downstairs should be the recommended flow.

Had high hopes of this gallery but was disappointed, the Munch exhibit all the other reviews here hyped up was boring, far oversold and too busy, and had people talking non stop. Impossible to enjoy the art and take it in when it's that crowded (Monday mid afternoon), and with tour guides and just general people chatting. The other temporary exhibit about architecture in Berlin was better with some interesting models and write up abouts buildings. The permanent exhibits were a lot more interesting with some really though provoking pieces, but there just wasn't enough of them here! Overall disappointed

In the neighborhood of Kreuzberg, few hundred meters from the well known Jewish museum, this art gallery offers an extraordinary permanent exhibition and very interesting temporary ones. I went for the Munch exhibition, which was truly interesting and moving. The space is very welcoming and the people friendly.

Really fantastic exhibition place. Like how the gallery looks inside. I was there last time for the exhibition „Anything goes? Berlin Architecture of 80s“. It was a lot of interesting photos, drafts and large models of buildings. Would like to come for the next architecture exhibition here.

I made to visit this space in the middle of change of temporary exhibition. Regular display was interested about architecture of Berlin. The choice of german art was a bit less interesting for my opinion, but maybe more educational to overview development of contemporary art in Berlin. Anyway worth to visit. Outside area is also great.

(Translated by Google) The management of the Berlinische Galerie has an attitude that I cannot understand. In the case of Lotte Laserstein, the crucial work was left to others to do the work and they were left behind when all the sparrows whistled the name of the artist from the feuilleton roofs. They begged for donations so that they now have a laser stone in their inventory. This is embarrassing because there are several pictures by at least as important an artist in the BG depot, but her name is not yet omnipresent, something would have to be done for that. So the expressive oil paintings "Construction of the U-Bahn-Spittelmarkt" (1918) and "Kapp-Putsch" (1920) by Else Hertzer remain in the basement as well as numerous other art treasures, because - the management of the Berlinische Galerie would have to leave the desk, take a chance and get into work mode.

This became one of my favorite museums in the city. The first floor is basically about the life of Ferdinand Holder and it was super interesting. The second floor is related more with Berlin's art history. All the texts on the walls are intriguing, all the paintings and sculptures too. Definitely recommend!

It has interesting pieces of art, like the one on the photo where the amount of detail in the drawing is like a very good camera. That is something that amazes me. The other art works are often way more modern and abstract. Museum has an audio tour and text tour.

This is my go-to museum in Berlin. It's compact but packs a punch. Great exhibitions that are heavily educational and interesting. Entertaining audio guides enhance the experience. I went to the Bauhaus exhibit twice last year and most recently to the exhibit of the Swiss born painter Ferdinand Holder. There are also other exhibits at the same time, so you can spend quite a bit of the day here. Great place to take visitors to Berlin. Street parking available.

What a great Sunday I had here. Besides hosting regular amazing exhibitions from artists globally the upper floor is also a great crash course in Berlin art history. One can easily loose themselves here for hours. The entrance process was easy, they have a baggage and coat check. The staff is friendly and they speak English. The space is easy to explore and has access to washrooms. Photography is allowed inside. On weekends the crowds show up. Overall one of my favorite Gallery experiences in Berlin

A nice gallery gathering several expositions at the same time. We have come for Munch one , really nicely exposed and good variety. Even if I find the price a bit of expensive, it is worth visiting.

I was lucky enough to visit the Munch Exhibition however, I was pleasantly surprised by the aditional treats on offer. Ticket sales and bag drops into the cloak room were quick and easy, the staff were very friendly, kind and warm. I was quite blown away when, after viewing all that was offer from the Munch Exhibition, to stumble into an area with work from the Dada period of Berlin in the 1920s. One of my pet things to do when visiting galleries for the first time is to not research them too much so the element of surprise is there when I do visit. You will find many other wonderful surprises here. I spent around 2 hours admiring the Munch Exhibition and a further 2 hours looking through the rest of the gallery. To be honest, I could have spent a lot more time but was restricted due to other commitments so, my advice is to allow a good 5 hours if you truly wish to soak up all that is on offer. Berlin is a city steeped in rich culture and history. I have returned many times over the years and will continue to return purely because of art galleries like this.

Galleries are not really my scene, but have to say I actually enjoyed it. We went to see the Edvard Munch display which was really impressive. We got the Audio guides which gave the story behind each painting, which was very interesting. The gallery was alot smaller than I expected, but still plenty to see. We had to wait just under an hour to get in, but considering it was free Sunday, it wasn't that long a wait. I found it definitely worth the visit.

Typically, I find it challenging to connect with modern art, but my experience at the Berlinische Galerie was surprisingly different. The artworks, focused on sustainability and the human impact on the natural world, resonated deeply with me. What enhanced my experience further were the well-crafted explanations accompanying each piece, which provided valuable insights and deepened my understanding and appreciation.

We were unlucky to visit while the new exhibition was being prepared. But it turned out the 2 hours we had till the close time was enough only to see the permanent exhibition, so we were lucky :) What we saw was an art journey from the beginning of the empire to the falling of the wall. Interesting, beautiful and educational lesson of the history of art in the times of multiple social and political challenges.

Very nice Museum! You get to know the artists from Berlin. They show a permanent collection on the top floor, I love their high ceiling! Don't miss the video room, they have a big screen, you can take a rest after walking through the show.

A small but very interesting gallery devoted to artists associated with the city of Berlin. The Current exhibition of Ferdinand Hodler, a precursor of modernism, is really impressive! But also the contemporary artist Alicja Kwade has a very impressive room with an intriguing installation. Upstairs, you can seen many great artwork by Berlin artists from the second half of the 20th century. Definitely worth visiting!

Always a pleasure to visit, I was able to see the Munch exhibit. It was lovely see his close relationship with Berlin represented in the exhibit. The permanent exhibition on second floor gives a nice quick overview of Berlin art between 1880-1980 and showcases some less well known artists.

Very much hit and miss, I’ve seen some interesting stuff here but it’s the second time in a row I cover the whole place in 10-20 mins. There are still some gems worth seeing, but for 95% of the exhibition I struggle to find it relevant (or to put it less nicely: found it very boring) Plus ridiculous rules about not being able to walk in holding a jacket.

Could spend hours in there getting lost in all the photos, modern and contemporary art! Sybille Bergemann’s photography was showcased when I was there and it was fascinating to see Berlin through her eyes and in a time where the city was so different.

Went there during open museum Sunday and had tickets with the entry time pre-booked. Nevertheless, we had to wait outside in line for 30 minutes to get in. Inside I was asked to leave my tiny purse- shoulder bag in garderobe, but then I saw many many others with much bigger bags inside - this was annoying. I don’t recommend going there on the open Sunday museum day - organization is not on point and you still have to wait in cold outside even with the time slot ticket

Lovely gallery of mostly German modern art. What I loved about this place was that it was almost empty of other people when I went (a Thursday at about 1:00 in the afternoon) so it was very peaceful. The ceilings are high so and the space is very open which is ideal for displaying a variety of different artworks. A great overview of the history of German modern art.
