Such a great museum, basically free of charge although it did cost me €1 to enter the plane, absolute peanuts for a massive aircraft enthusiast, though. Keep in mind that guests can only enter the plane at 13:00 or 16:00. The cockpit is blocked off, which is a shame as I (and probably many others) was looking forward to sitting within it. One of the security guards (Joachim I believe was his name) is a friendly, kind and amazing person. He couldn’t speak English, and I cannot speak German, but we somehow found a way to communicate and connect. He kindly went out of his way to take photos for me, of me, also to change the language on one of the screens from German to English so that I could understand it too. He also put on his suit jacket and stood at the podium so that I could take a better photo of the area which was quite funny! Something I found fairly interesting was the piece on the two Korea’s and the conflict that has persisted ever since between the nations. There are some fascinating photos, text and footage from both sides of the DMZ depicting the struggle of the people. The museum itself is located quite far from the centre of Berlin but is well worth the trip for anyone even remotely interested in aspects such as the Berlin Air Lift, military history, and the Cold War. There is a café located in the second building selling refreshments, and there are some items on sale also. These include books, maps, post cards, pens etc. I think I spent around 5 hours at the museum, but that’s because I took my time. I had noticed that the museum gradually became busier throughout the afternoon also. If you are in a hurry, you can see everything within 2 hours. Enjoy!

Somewhat small, not very busy and part of it was closed for renovation (Oct 2023). However I found it somewhat charming. Visits to the Hastings plane take place every hour on the hour for 1 Euro through spring and summer. The last cabin used at Checkpoint Charlie when the Wall came down is also here, but closed to the public

Great museum —especially it being free! Although I had bits and pieces of the history down, the museum manages to really formulate the history of the last 80 years of the city into one cohesive story that’s straightforward to understand and share. I especially like that there are so many original items! The outpost building and plane are amazing!

Under the title “How Enemies Became Friends,” the Allied Museum tells a unique story full of suspense and drama. It begins with the German defeat in World War II. In the summer of 1945, a few months after the Red Army marched into Berlin, U.S., British, and French troops followed as victors and occupiers. Together with their wartime allies, the Soviet Union, they aimed to free the German Reich of Nazism. Conflicts soon arose, however. The victorious Western powers wanted to reconstruct Germany on the basis of freedom and democracy. The Soviet Union, in contrast, took its own Communist social system as a model. Berlin became one of the most important scenes of the struggles that have gone down in history as the Cold War. More than once, the cold war seemed about to become a hot one. Nevertheless, German unification in 1989/90 proceeded in peace and freedom. What role did the Western powers play in this process? Above all: How did they come to leave the city again after nearly 50 years as partners and friends? The traces of this eventful period are still present on the historic site today. The Allied Museum is located in the heart of the former American Sector. Alongside the permanent exhibition, our temporary exhibitions address a variety of relevant topics. Events, film screenings, and guided tours of the exhibitions round out the program.

Interesting museum, all of notes are duplicated in three languages, and there are two free toilets here. But aircraft and train carriage are closed during cold seasons. Unfortunately 😔

If you have time, I'd recommend to visit this museum and Deutsch Russisch Museum. I'm sure it's worth comparing the narratives of east and west after the current post cold war era.

Very engaging displays and history surrounding the Berlin wall from the end of WWII to the present. A complicated and painful time on German history. The second museum is about life in Little America and also some fascinating history about an Allied tunnel that was used to tap into Soviet communications. Also some video of reconnaissance missions. It's free and definitely worth your time.to visit.

Wonderful museum and free entry! It shows how the Allied forces delivered cargo to West Berlin during the Soviet blockage of all roads in West Berlin. And only allowing three air corridors for cargo delivery.

A little bit out of the normal path, but they do have a bus station near by which is helpful. This is a fairly short museum to visit. It took about one hour to go through. The museum is basic, but shows several interesting parts of life after the war. The plane was interesting to visit and they show information about the airlift.

Small but interesting exhibition. There were just few visitors which made the experience even better. Museum covers history of Berlin after the II WW. First building is focused on setting post war order by Allier Powers. The second hall tells story of spies and conflicts between the West and the Soviet Union. Worth seeing on the way to Postdam.

The original checkpoint charlie is here, but you can’t go in it. They allow group tours in it , maybe? I walked in with a French group, but the lady kicked me out. Good thing its free, because paying for it wouldn’t be worth it.

A must visit museum, got to know a lot about the history related to the wars and how life was in those circumstances. This is a free museum but I would definitely pay even if there was a entry ticket. You could just walk into the museum free of cost and go through. There is also a place for getting souvenirs (nothing too fancy but at least some basic stuff)

Sehr sehenswertes Museum, welches eigentlich West-Aliierten Mueum heissen müsste.

It's a great place to know the things that got left from the war time, how the planning was, what happened during and after the allieds arrived. There's can good from that time, airplane parts, official uniforms, news paper articles, vehicles and even a wedding dress Made out of courtings from an apartament in that time. And it's free! Totally not crowded, There's a cafe and plenty to see. It was a really instructional experience, first time in this kind of museums and it was so easy to walk through. Totally worth it! 👍

Probably the most boring museum in Berlin. Sure, the facts were pinned to the walls, but absolutely no effort was made to bring it to life. That and the plane, train and checkpoint were all locked. It wasn't easy to get to either. Such a shame really.

While there is a lot of content here I think that this museum could use a major overhaul. But given the price (free) you can't complain too much. Many of the pieces don't really have any curation and some are only in German. When I was there in winter the outside display was closed which was disappointing. The new exhibition was probably the highlight. Getting there can take a while on public transport but the bus stop is right out front which is good.

A nice museum spread over a couple of buildings with and aircraft, plane and checkpoint Charlie also. Worth the visit if you've got time, but not as good as the holocost museum or the topography of terror, the displays are a bit older and don't flow as naturally. Still good, especially for free and you can easily spend a few hours there, but the place could have a bit of a reshuffle and modernisation.

Well-curated, small museum concerning the Western power’s post-WW2 occupation. Focuses a lot on Berlin and specifically the Berlin airlift. A lot of neat, not widely published photos coupled with authentic memorabilia give a window into a bygone era. Also gave a little bit of the Soviet point of view, but mainly as examples of propaganda trying to blunt the West’s perspective. Free admission. Takes an hour to see thoroughly. About 30-40 train ride from central Berlin, plus an 8 minute walk. Not sure if it was worth the trip just to see this, but if you’re in the area, it was a nice hour.

Although small, this museum is quite enjoyable and has some interesting highlights of the cold war era in Berlin. There is no charge to enter the museum and plan on about an hour or so to tour it all. Seeing the preserved section of the Berlin Spy Tunnel and entering the Hastings TG 503 British transport plane were the highlights for me. The old Checkpoint Charlie gate house is here, along with a multitude of artifacts from post WW2 Berlin. If you ever wanted to learn more about the Berlin airlift, this is a really good museum for that knowledge. Worth a visit!

(Translated by Google) the mere fact that the Allied museum in Berlin has free admission makes it, in itself, worth a visit. The museum, as a whole, does not show anything that cannot be seen in other structures that, more or less, deal with the theme of the cold war and the separation between the two Germanys, however, it allows you to spend about an hour (perhaps a little plus) observing interesting finds among which, without a doubt, an old aircraft stands out on which it is allowed to board. The journey to the museum, from the city center, is not short but I think it is worth doing.

(Translated by Google) It is my favorite museum in Berlin after the German Museum of History. The Berlin airlift, not a war museum, supplied food and supplies to the soldiers of the United States and the United Kingdom stationed in West Berlin and to the people of West Berlin by plane during the Cold War. The main theme is Berliner Luftbrücke, and some of the checkpoint Charlie checkpoints and some of the US and British Spy tunnels are also on display. Admission is free. A great piece of history; an exhaustive supply of material. Loved the exhibitions & the displays. Great detail on personal testaments. Needs a better shop & could do with a bit more info on Russian & British zones but that's nitpicking. Would be happy to come again.

This museum is of primary importance for the existence of decocracy in Europe and in the world, but it's clearly slightly neglected, and slightly off the main tourist routes. Except for the main hall, a great exhibition "Little America" about realities of everyday life in American military community in West Berlin. I think the museum needs a better promotion, both on the state and international level.

Great little FREE Museum. It is a bit out of the centre of Berlin (about 30mins on public transport from Checkpoint Charlie) but definitely worthwhile if you are interested in history and life after World War II when Germany was divided amongst the British, Americans, French and Soviets. Very informative with many photos, newspaper articles etc. from the past.

I’d say this place is a must visit if you’re into history, the place has so much to offer, they have lots of guides who speak English fluently as well, they offer so much help and they have so much information about WW and Cold war

The place is awesome. It's free entrance and the information and history provided here is very interesting. I paid an extra 1 euro to go inside Hastings TG 503, a plane used by the Allies after World War II. Overall, it was a very interesting experience. However, I'm only giving 4 stars because the staff aren't able to communicate with some guest. Considering that it is a Museum on the allies, the staff should have been well trained in the Allied Languages. Further, not all the video presentations have translated audio.

A worthy experience for any military history fan. Learnt a lot and it’s very well structured. It’s free and was really cool to see the actual checkpoint Charlie (with no tourists). And a plane that was used in the Berlin airlift.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the Allied Museum but I'm glad I went. There's a good mix of history, explaining the social and political events in Germany after WW2. The museum is free and the displays are in English, German and French.

A place to visit for WWII history buffs. This is a rather small museum. Outside there is an actual British transport plane from the Berlin airlift, an East German guard tower that was moved to the museum plus the last actuall Checkpoint Charlie station.

Part of the history of Berlin and also the former US base and cinema now used as a museum. Talk about moving the museum to Tempelhof Airport. Hope some part of this history / museum remains on this site.

Really enjoyed visiting here. Museum is in two parts, one covers the period from 1945 - 1949 and includes really interesting information and exhibits about the Berlin Airlift. The other section is more varied but includes some great exhibits like the spy tunnel, bits of Berlin Wall and an original Checkpoint Charlie.

Must see for all ww2 and cold war buffs. Most info is available in English As well, but videos arra in German. Loads of info on flight scheduling, goods shipped, accompanied with vintage photos. Relatively small exhibition, 1 hour is adequate tó see everything, hence the 4 stars. Itt is totally free só definitely worth every penny 🤩
