Large collection of paintings, covering an amazingly wide range of painters and eras. If you seek to explore all the floors of the Gallery, don't expect to spend less than 3 hours in it! (Here are some of my personal favorites)

For art fans, be sure to visit this museum. The works are divided in themes and epochs, which takes you into a dive into history. Tour guides are available. I recommend navigating alone (with a map) and getting to know the history of the works. The exhibition rooms are a special charm. It is worthwhile.

This is an amazing gallery with vast amounts of masterpieces. There are so many famous paintings, and it’s almost overwhelming! I was here for 3 hours but could have easily spent the whole day if they had a nice cafe inside. "The Sistine Madonna" by Raphael and "Girl reading a letter at an open window" by Vermeer are the highlights in my opinion.

Sehr beeindruckende Galerie.

(Translated by Google) From the Semper Gallery, go down the stairs to the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery (Pinacotheca). About 10 €. Raphael's large Assumption of Mary, with two cute angels underneath, is at the end. Our Lady of Raphael's Tempe is also a sad beauty. Giorgione's sleeping Venus is also big and beautiful.

(Translated by Google) After the Dresdeners could only see their sculptures in a display depot for a long time, the renovation of the Sempergalerie gave them a place in the city's cultural life that was due to them. Together with the Alte Meister gallery, one of the oldest sculpture collections north of the Alps will be given a room in the heart of the baroque old town. It is regrettable that the thought of the former director Georg Treu to set up a sculpture museum in the Albertinum from antiquity to his time (the early 20th century) does not sustain the redesignation of the Albertinum as a house of modernity, which can hardly be substantiated could be. It is all the more delighted that the sculptures are now accessible again and can work in a fitting setting. Nobody who looks at the variety of treasures from the State Art Collections should pass them too quickly, but slowly ascending the stairs, let form, light and space take effect. You will recognize their intrinsic value and realize that it is worthwhile not to view the gallery simply as a passage to the Old Masters.

It has huge collection of arts and they are simply gorgeous, some part of museum is in renovation now, but there is a lot to visit despite of it. If you are interested in art it's a must-see in Dresden, but it's worth to see for those who are not visiting every gallery in town they're visiting :D

This is an incredible Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden, where rare and impressive art pieces are preserved. I was amazed by the variety and quality of the exhibits displayed here. Special thanks to the staff and cloakroom attendants who were always friendly and smiling, adding positive emotions to my visit. It was an unforgettable experience that I definitely want to repeat!

it is a nice gallery if you are really into an art. I personally like to look at pictures but it cannot really appreciate them. I have visited numbers, art, museums but or cannot really make difference between French, German, Italian except maybe the clothing and the facial features. however, you can get a combined ticket for the porcelain gallery and this picture gallery for only 14 euros which I think is great deal.

Definitely worth the visit. It’s full of history and stories behind these galleries. I would rank this on the same level with The Louvre; of course with less tourists. It is wonderful to walk around the museum without shoulder to shoulder pedestrian traffic. I was intrigued so much by the gallery that I am using it as a report for my Humanities and Art Project. Recommend to art enthusiasts.

This museum is definitely worth to visit if you came in Dresden. There is very good collection of works of famous artists. It is really impressive. The most of the exhibits are on religious motives. It is located close to the opera theater. The ticket cost 6 euro, 4 euro for students. I thin’ it’s a very good price

One of the world's great collections. It will be even better later in 2018 when they open the galleries now closed for renovation. There's an amazing group of large paintings by Veronese that should be much better known, the peerless van Eyck triptych, lots of Cranachs and Durers, many fine Dutch paintings, the Sistine Madonna, and much, much more. I just wish they had a better book about the collection. Not to be missed!

Beautiful collection of paintings by the masters. Wasn't disappointed. One would need atleast 3 hours at the gallery to look at all the artworks and sculptures, so plan accordingly. Tasteful display, reminiscent of the Louvre more than any other gallery I've been to but of course a lot smaller. What I really appreciated was that every piece was also detailed in English and not only German. Many of the artworks are also described in terms of themes, myths and stories, and not just by their titles and years. There are works by Raphael, Raffael, Rembrandt, Cranach, Eyck, Dürer. They also have an extensive collection of Spanish painters, works from the German renaissance, and portraiture. Unfortunately didn't get to see the paintings they house by Vermeer since there was an exhibition going on where they were displaying the paintings and the exhibition was sold out, didn't get tickets to enter on short notice. I was also somehow misled by the website into expecting Caravaggio to be housed there too, but there wasn't.

They are such friendly crews! The curation is very thoughtful, too. There are alway interacting questions written next to the artwork. Painting collection is absolutely worth to see. Sculpture too. There is a room in the sculpture collection where you can paint your own sketches on two marble sculptures. I only wish for more products in the gift shop! Hopefully the museum will produce something about Rubens too. There are simply too many Vermeer and the two angels...

I have expected the exibition would be a little more impressive, but it is my personal opinion.

I saw the gallery for the first time 17 years ago, and my second visit was more enjoyable. The gallery was almost empty, and we could enjoy the greatest paintings of European art without hustle and bustle of other visitors. I recommend especially Giorgione's (and his disciple Titian's who completed the painting after Giorgione's death) 'Sleeping Venus' (1510), one of the first landscapes ever painted; and Vermeer's 'The Procurees' (1656), with extravagant colors, identified as the author's self-portrait. And countless other paintings ('I almost forgot about Sistine Madonna' by Raphael). I'm so happy I could be there again...

Not the biggest collection but still enough to make it worth your time. Some of the biggest names are represented as wel as some lesser known masters. The covid rules made the entry a bit confusing but everyone was super helpfull.

Amazing Gallery, but that it’s not enough one day to explore all stages 😌

A wonderful masterpiece of architecture, currently under restoration. The exhibitions there are very beautiful and offer an interesting perspective on the history of the building.

Beautiful gallery unfortunately it was the day the couple glued themselves to the frame of the painting so we were evacuated and were told we would have to email for a refund. We had seen probably half of the collection when we were evacuated. It's not the staffs fault it was a bizarre occurrence. On the whole we loved Dresden.

In addition to the gallery's world-famous gems, it was especially interesting to see an entire collection of works by Canaletto that depicted 18th-century Dresden in great detail. Magical city rebuilt from the ruins.. more than once actually! Alte Meister is a dream for art lovers, such a spirit there.

The vast collection of arts is beyond imagination. It’ll take a long time to finish the visit. Didn’t know that there is mummy; so it was an exciting visit for me.

If you find yourself in Dresden, interested in art, and have a few hours this should be on your list. As advertised, old masters. Compact enough not to need all day, but with depth. If you have time, get the audio guide. Unfortunately for us, the famous Vermeer was on loan when we visited, plenty of other fine paintings to feast our eyes on. Don't forget to stop at the gift shop. Well stocked with plenty of excellent text books. There's a cafe also. Thankfully, plenty of spots in the center of the gallery rooms to have a seat. 1.5 to 2.0 hours minimum, but one could stay all day. Enjoy!

3 floors of artwork, from bottom to top. Ancient sculptures of the Greek and the Romans, 15th century, 16th century, 17th century paintings, etc. Couches and places to sit in some rooms, a painting renovation room shown to the public, a cafe, toilets, and places to leave your backpack/handbag/etc.

Great collection of paintings. Well worth at least two hours. You have to check in all bags, even small ones. This can be a nuisance.

A great art gallery with a lot of beautiful paintings and sculptures in the interior of Zwinger Palace. Visiting off-season is good - no line to enter.
