I visited on Sunday. the entrance is 1 euro. you get to visit two floors of industrial design history like the inventions between 1950 and 1980 and theres the history of bicycles which is interesting. the robitics part and the development of robot brain is what i found the most interesting. the other part is furniture design and a hall for some architectural buildings and you have on the top floor the modern art with paintings and sculptures. they take 1 euro at the wardrobe in the basement floor cause you re not allowed to enter with a Jacket.

The museum is all about contemporary art (paintings and installations) not bad to visit and especially on Sundays when the ticket is just 1 euros. The place is huge, will easily take 2hrs for a proper tour of the museum. The service for the ticket and coat area was perfect. Loved the overall visit.

Sundays are a great deal. You can visit the museum for 1 €. They open at 10 a.m. so I recommend starting early. The museum has a café (Café Münchener Freiheit) with good caffee and reasonable prices. Throughout the whole museum you are allowed to take pictures. The collections take you to different worlds, I've found the one about AI and human intelligence really inspiring. You will see some Picasso, Dalí, Ruscha paintings and there was also an auction when we visited.

If you like the modern art so this would be an essential place to visit in Munich. There is a very nice cafe with tasty sweets and cakes inside. As a car lover I live the entering part of design section which presents an installation of classic cars! The exhibitions of artists changes frequently and all are perfect. The one I visited was recent works of Shirin Neshat.

It might be difficult for most of us to understand why we actually spend money to see of the things on exhibit at the Pinakothek der Moderne. Let's put aside the arguments often used against modern art museums and modern art in general. The visit to the modern art gallery of Munich is highly entertaining because the building housing it has a large collection of objects, including many that focus on industrial design. If anything the building itself is a great place to see with sweeping perspectives, remarkably impressive large staircases, soaring ceilings and light coming from different directions, but never in an overwhelming manner. This building is enough to make your visit worthwhile, irrespective of your appreciation, or lack of, of the exhibits on display.

What an amazing place. We were in Munich for business and in our spare time we decided to go to visit the Pinakothek der Moderne. An incredible building with a clean style perfect for visiting. Very well organized and easy to look around. We bought the ticket for all the exhibitions and was really affordable and with a few euros there was the opportunity to see more museum at same time, so a city vote to the culture. Well done! The 4 different exposition was really interesting, probably little bit to much mixed, but at the end very interesting and some one very intense. If you are in Munich and you like design and art, well take your time and go there, and at the end relax in the inside caffè with a delicious piece of 🍰 cake.

It's a matter of taste. The building is nice but most of the artworks inside in not very interesting or inspiring. If you're looking for something special, non orthodox, that's not the place. The broken horse and tht rider in the picture was an exception.

I have to be honest, I didn't really like this museum. Maybe it's me who doesn't understand much about modern art, but that's not really the reason why I didn't really appreciate it. First of all, the museum itinerary is non-existent, in the sense that it is visited at random. In this way, as happened to me, you risk skipping interesting areas...Also then, the staff is very grumpy, they treat you like you were a criminal...

I came here on a Sunday and was told its €1 per person on Sundays. I thought it was a nice thing they do that since its more on the other days they’re open. Bags, purses, and umbrellas need to be locked up in a locker which costs €2. Beautiful exhibits of modern Art. I would definitely check this place out!

Favourite museum to visit again and again in Munich. On Sundays (along with other museums in the city) the ticket is only 1 Euro. I recommend booking tickets online, specially on a weekend and on opening dates to avoid standing in a line.

Usually one of my favorite museums in Munich. Right now there is a temporary exhibition called "Feeling". Concept is to get all information after the exhibition, unfortunately they are not available... Cannot recommend it at the moment.

The museum is quite considerate. Either inside or outside of the building is something to admire. Most art peace is very connected to the history of the industry in Germany. I had a nice expense there.

It's a museum to visit if you are fond of modern art, both fine arts and design. It's not big, so you can easily view all exhibits within 2-3 hours. Sunday visit will cost you €1, but the lockers and wardrobe are not free of charge. The information about permanent and temporal exhibitions is on their site

I was troubled by the design and gallery layout of this museum. The collection of work was fascinating, thought provoking and head scratching. I was gravitated to a few new artists and their works to explore outside the museum, so I left with more than I came in with, and the joy of discovery makes it all worth the trip.

I haven't been here for a while, so when I finally got to the Pinakothek I was again mesmerized by the amazing building and the way they showcase their (quite random) art collection. I realized I definitely have to come here more often as this place is such an inspiration! With a lot of stuff I didn't agree at all but that's actually okay. It's taste, right? Art is super subjective and taste are quite different. With some art pieces I found that a lot of their appeal actually comes from the way they are presented. At some point I will have my art displayed here. I can feel it 👏🏻

One of the best museums in Munich. Although I am not always a fan of modern arts, they got me off guard. It is a huge museum with different permanent and temporary exhibitions. If you want to check all in detail (which I highly recommend), keep in mind that you may need to spend 2-4 hours. Besides, all the things you can learn and view, the architecture of the building is really nice. You simply enjoy being inside, up and down the floors. And last but not least, tickets are 1 euro on Sundays.

Design, photography, Dali, Picasso, Kandinsky, Macke, Warhol - it has them all. Save a day for it, maybe a Sunday, when the ticket to any museum is just 1 Euro.

Very cool museum. We went in with our City Pass that we got and visited a bunch of different areas. My favourite was the Robotics one, where some robots are seen painting pictures sent out by the public via a website. Overall, it's a very big, interesting museum that's worth visiting.

Terrible. Needs new management and better trained staff. Constantly under the watchful, unfriendly gaze of the Gestapo-like museum police. Apparently water is enemy number one. If I really wanted to use water or any liquid to damage the paintings, I would be sneaky about it, with a camel pack, making the museum security obsolete. I feel more at home in an S&M dungeon. Recommendation: learn from the British and Dutch on how to run a museum properly and make the customers, i. e. The People, feel welcomed.

Great modern art contemporary museum in Munich. The Sunday entrance fee was only 1€ so cheap. You can continue from here Moderne Pinakothek to Alte Pinakothek or vice versa. Just come early in the morning until afternoon. The visit of the museum at least 2hours. They have 4 floors (EG, UG, 1, 2). Don’t forget to put all belongings in the lockers of 2€ coins. Sometimes they have also special exhibitions in EG. So this must see if you come to Munich 😀

Interesting place and multiple exhibitions… You can easily lose yourself for a few hours inside of this gigantic building. Ticket price on Sunday is only 1 euro! There are many different art pieces and I can’t imagine that someone is bored in here or indifferent… Staff is either amazing or aggressively impolite, thus 4 stars.

The museum for the modern arts! How cool! The spaces have enough space and height for modern arts:):) ##Hi guys. I opened an Instagram for architecture. I will upload the architecture that i visited in my life. This project is for the architecture and the photos will be uploaded with only 8 pictures. My intention is people to see my photos and have a great interest in architecture and then make a plan for visiting architecture. Instagram : @germany_219 Follow me and enjoy:)

I went for the exhibition on bicycles, which was absolutely stunning. As an avid biker I am of course biased, but I learned so much looking at all these fabulous bikes from the very beginning to today’s carbon and 3D printed frames. A must see. And while there, don’t miss out on the Beckmann exhibit, which certainly needs no advertising… spectacular!!

What can we say about this marvellous place of art that has not yet been said? For example, primary school children are also in good hands here because the museum guides are patient and explain everything. Tip: four exhibits are easily enough for 1 1/2 hours. Then the children will be exhausted. And some adults too. And just this much about the exhibits: exquisite comes closest! I can only recommend this place to anyone who is interested in modern art and at the same time wants to know what made the world tick in the 19th and 20th centuries

We visited on a Sunday afternoon with 1€ ticket it was crowded. For the wardrobe you need cash but you can buy ticket by card. You can also use lockers which needs coin. The place is very well designed, some parts need more explanation but in general if you enjoy spending few hours in contemporary art atmosphere you will enjoy it.

The architecture of the building is beautiful with its rotunda three stories high. Interesting exhibit on the Bauhaus with lots of Marcel Breuer pieces. Good amount of modern paintings. Great display of hundreds of bicycles, historic and contemporary. It's worth the visit, even if it's not a very big modern art museum.

Amazingly wide collection of modern art and design. I loved the selection of art pieces according to their “themes” such as “immigration”, “childhood”, etc. Not only the newer and less known artists but also the legendary ones such as couple of pieces from Picasso and Kandinsky.

There was nothing to tell from the outside that the entire basement level is given over to modern interior design. I was pleasantly surprised to see an exhibition of original artifacts from the Bauhaus. There is also a commemorative book available in the bookshop. From my point of view, this made my trip to Munich worthwhile in itself.

I would like to see more exhibits and more imagination from the exhibitors when designing the expositions. All in all, I give a good 3 stars out of 5 and estimate that about 2 hours should be enough time to look at all the works of art on display in this Pinakothek. Have fun all visitors! (Translated by Google) Yes, go there, no question. As in every museum, not everything will be pleasing, understandable, and come up. So what? The image that speaks to the secret strings of the soul will be found. 😇 It's not about more. Angled to turn the visit into a tour of discovery. If you missed something, then it had to be! Good, well thought-out mix: next to a world-famous artist there is also a newcomer and, what is even more gratifying, a newcomer from Latin America or Eastern Europe. Some white old men are overemphasized and overrepresented, but they also need an exhibition space, no question about it. But really such a big one? With some - still living - giants one asks oneself why this should cost 57 or even 157 million ... Is it still art or from the start just a disgraceful speculative object not necessarily applauded with much devotion? Probably both together! But, seriously, almost exactly (or sometimes more than some masterpieces!) As impressive as the pictures and installations above are the dozen of different types of chairs in the design wing: from different eras: from the beginning of the 19th century til today. Why on earth had this meaningful, artistically breathtaking line-up not yet come up with an art capacity from those exhibited above? (Original) Ja, hingehen, keine Frage. Wie wohl in jedem Museum wird nicht alles gefallen, verständlich sein, aufgehen. So what?

They have a new installation of a gigantic "Aubergine"-colored balloon in their main hall. It's fascinating. Our favourite was the room with the works of Georg Baselitz he donated to the museum himself. In total we spent roughly 3 hours enjoying this fantastic museum. It worth it!

Excellent Museum to go to in warm weather, because it has great air conditioning 👌 ( Many other museums I have visited lately have not had good air conditioning). Even though this is a museum of Modern Art my favorite exhibits were the vintage cars and household items. There is a lot to see here! We spent about 3 hours on our visit. Lockers are available ( require 2 Euro coins that you get back). The restrooms are very nice. Photography is allowed. There is a small cafe with coffee and pastry items. Highly recommend a visit on a Sunday for 1 Euro admission ( be sure and buy online tickets ahead- they were already sold out for the day when we arrives at noon)

Great exhibition and great experience! It has a wide open space at the entrance that doesnt make you feel its crowded even in the rush days. One thing to be improved would be the path structure to follow while visiting the different rooms. It was not so clear at the beginning to understand where it starts and how it goes but other than that once it is understood it gives the perfect experience that a modern museum should give:)

But on a Sunday (admission only 1 euro) at the end of November I took the time to take a closer look at the exhibition about the Expressionists. It was very interesting if you didn't rush through the exhibition. The audio guide (costs extra on Sunday) was important to learn more about the artist, the picture and the time. Overall, I was very impressed with the exhibition.

(Translated by Google) It is a museum of modern art. The museum is extraordinarily beautiful and large. Prices vary from 7 to 15 €. According to the majority of exhibitions. Paul Klee had the exhibit and found it very impressive with his permanent works. If you are interested, I would like to avoid traveling. (Original) Modern sanat müzesidir. İlginiz var ise gezmekten kaçınmayın derim..

Great museum with exceptional artwork and splendid architecture. Also when I was there they had a temporary exhibition about homelessness in urban areas around the world, very interesting!

I visited the Pinakothek on December 16, 2021, and was shocked at how low the level of some of the staff working there was. In particular, I want to mention an employee named Grace - you can see her in the photo. The museum has very few visitors, and poor Grace appears to be suffering from boredom in the workplace. And when some foreigner interested in these terrible pictures that she does not understand appears, she cannot resist and begins to bully the visitor, exchanging boorish comments in German with her colleague. The poor idiot has no idea that some people can understand the meaning of what she is saying. It was so unacceptable that I decided to complain. The security manager only suggested that I fill out a paper feedback form, he refused to give me the full name of this employee and the contacts of the quality department. After reading other reviews here, I see that this happens quite often. What is the problem? Why build a museum, why spend a lot of money on masterpieces of art, if the whole impression will be spoiled by the rudeness of the staff? People as cultured as Grace couldn't even work at Lidl, they'd be fired in a week. Why does such a person even work in an art gallery? It seems that this Munich museum is just an unsuccessful attempt to show off that Munich is one of the centres of culture. It is better to open another shopping centre with a food court in the gallery building instead, where Grace can sell kebabs or work in a paid toilet. Awful experience.

The museum 🖼️ is great for interesting watchers.. There are few international artists, as well as a small exhibition of German design. A very beautiful cafe on the ground floor, and there is also a souvenir shop where you can buy books and postcards Corona measures and test center right in front of the door!

This is a really beautiful museum, architecturally and with its exhibits. The permanent collection features local German artists but also carries a few famous ones too (Warhol, Picasso, Klein). I liked the workshop area where people were working on restorations and cleaning. Also they have a great design section featuring industrial design and history of Bauhaus, Bentwood, etc. Worth the visit but don't expect it to be a MoMA or Guggenheim.

Beautiful place. Worth to spend half a day. Contemporary art is an interesting thing and not for everyone, but at least it is worth getting acquainted. There are different exhibition halls with different works of art. Entrance ticket 7-10Є.

The museum is really big and it will take some time to appreciate the different exhibitions regarding modern & contemporary art, design, architecture. I’ve really enjoyed the concept of having 1 room = 1 theme, meaning that the artworks are mixed according to this thread, instead of following other logics e.g. time period, nationality, art movement, etc. However, I would have liked a bit more context/explanations for the artworks, so that the understanding is not entirely left up to the viewer. Side note: my brother who is 19 had to pay a full price ticket instead of the reduced one because he couldn’t show any card stating that he’s a student (in Italy it doesn’t exist). I found this behavior unacceptable and “squared”, since the lady selling the tickets couldn’t speak proper English and didn’t try to listen to anything that we were saying to explain the situation. It’s 2022, come on!

Always a favorite. The current exhibition on the Olympic Games 1972 in Munich in the architecture department is really well structured and interesting. And I don't get tires of the design section no mater how often I see it. Sundays are €1 entry for the entire house and all permanent or temporary exhibitions.

An amazing collection of incredible works enjoyable and amusing for everyone. Totally worth it on Sundays with the 1€ ticket. I particularly recommend the design section of the museum, it’s to much fun.

I had great experience here. It can be crowded on Sunday afternoon because of 1 euro entrance ticket. But I also visited on Sunday morning, it wasn’t as crowded. One thing to remember before you come, they request you to put your bags and jacket at the cloakroom. When it’s crowded, you might not want to go back forth from exhibition entrance to cloakroom. :)

Marina Tabassums work of architecture is worth the visit and at a great weekend price. The modern art part felt like a bit of a mockery of art or modern art in general. This was my experience, please note that it may just be how I felt based on the time I spent there - everyone’s experience is different.

Suggestive architecture houses an ample collection of modern and contemporary artists. Some of the greatest but also some less known gems.

Very good museum, wide areas, lockers for your belongings and good bathrooms. The exposition was really enjoyable, and the staff is very nice. The museum is big and it takes a bit of time to see everything, there is resting zones all along the museum ! Take it easy if you go here ! :)
