What amazing displays of pure craftsmanship! We heard about David Warther’s ship carvings while touring Ernest Warther’s train carvings museum nearby, but nothing could prepare us for the beauty and detail of David’s ships. This is a guided tour that lasts about an hour, but plan to spend extra time with the displays after the tour ends. An added bonus was having David come out of his workshop to spend a few minutes chatting with us, answering our questions and giving us more details about his techniques and craft. Time well spent - we’re looking forward to stopping in again to spend more time admiring these fantastic ships!

This is a must-stop if you’re in Amish Country. The ship carvings are incredible. Dave’s attention to detail and passion for his craft are unmatched. The tour and atmosphere were very relaxing, wasn’t rushed or anything. Tour guides were extremely knowledgeable. Dave even took some time out of his busy day to talk to us about his design process. Truly fascinating! I will definitely be bringing Taran here next time so he can witness some great artwork from the Warther family!

Wonderful tour! David was able to give the tour. Loved how he explained how he does the scrimshaw and makes the small ropes for the ships. Also, really liked that some ships have a magnifying glass in the display case so that you can see the details of his ships. Very nice gift shop.

My wife and I went for a drive yesterday and had to stop by, and we are glad we did. We met David and had a chance to talk about his craft. He explained how he does some of the fine details on his miniatures .That was an added bonus for us. He’s a very talented craftsman and all of his work in our eyes are award winners. Our tour guide was a very friendly and very knowledgeable young lady, that when talking to David we found out she is a great employee working three jobs. And if she is as passionate about her photography as she is about this job she is headed for success. ( I’m sorry I’m so terrible with names and she deserves recognition) As soon as I got home last night, I immediately recommended this museum to multiple friends who I know will make the trip. Would recommend this tour for everyone That appreciates fine craftsmanship and history. We can’t wait to stop back at a later date to see his newest work.

Amazing sculptures, with such detail done in miniature. Who knew you could make string from Ivory.

Mr Warther gives a tour of his display of ivory scrimshaw small-scale boats of different eras in history. From the Egyptians to the American Revolution period of ships. A very fascinating tour of his talents of a lost art.

A very nice and well put together museum. The carvings are astounding, especially the ivory thread that the rigging is made from! David is so nice and willing to answer questions. We will be back in the future!

What a wonderful experience to see the craftsmanship and detail that David puts into each of his ships. The staff was very friendly and engaging. We even got to spend a few minutes speaking with David. He is a very kind and humble man.
