Unfortunately I can’t give 5 starts, even though food was at excellent quality! I absolutely loved mustard chicken starter! Attached in the photo. On arrival, restaurant was rammed, clearly overbooked as we had to wait over 30min to be seated. For the inconvenience we were offered drinks on house while we wait which was a really nice gesture. Once we got seated, our orders were taken, staff are friendly and welcoming, you have got some really good people working there! The only problem was that it looked way too short of staff unfortunately. Some of our food arrived, but some was missing, we had to ask for it numerous times, food didn’t arrive at the same time for our party of 4, which was slightly disappointing as some of us were already finished the meal by the time one of us just got their meals. Really the only fault of the restaurant was that they were heavily overbooked and understaffed, I hope this can be corrected as overall it was really good experience. For the inconvenience restaurant also took off service charge and didn’t charge for one of the sushi which we were waiting for over an hour to arrive. I’m hoping to return soon and see some improvements, good luck!

This is a nice Korean place in the heart of Leeds. We were 5 of us (2 kids) for lunch and the place was just filling up around lunch time. Service is good. The place has a lot of natural light, which we liked. We ordered the following : 1) Topokki with fish cake in Korean Sweet Chili Sauce - We asked the chef to ring down the spice a little for the kids. This was a well balanced dish (I have had spicier topokki in Singapore). The rice cakes were nice and chewy and we opted for the extra cheese. 2) Honey Mustard chicken - Another dish that was done right. Chicken glazed with honey and mustard. Nice to bit into and savour. 3) OBA Salt & Pepper Karaage cheese powdered chicken wings - This was just ok according to me. Chicken a bit too bony for my liking. 4) Chicken Teriyaki - Soft tender chicken, this was really good. Teriyaki sauce is served on the side, so you can choose to dip our pour. We poured so the chicken mixes well with the sauce. 5) Apple & Elderflower fizz and Passion Fruit cooler - some mocktails to wash it all down! No

Good location, good selections with good price. Spacious place for dining in. Fab and friendly staff. Their food is decent and tasty. The portion is good, not too big nor too small. We ordered Japanese food and the presentation was simpler than we imagined, however, it tasted better than we imagined! The Korean classic foods were delicious as well. They have vegetarian options which is brilliant. But they seem they did not distinguish vegeterian&vegan foods properly (we were a bit confused when we first looked at the menu) - therefore if you are looking for vegan foods you need to confirm with the staff (for example eggs). They are very friendly. You can also ask for a discount (as a student).

Absolutely amazing food and friendly service. Got chatting with the owner who really went the extra mile in making us feel welcome, including a free traditional drink on the house. Even met the chef who’s experience explains why the food was so good. Best Japanese food we’ve tasted from guests who have been to many restaurants. Great little find!

Thank you for hosting Nancy lunch this afternoon, had a lovely relaxed snack, the service was friendly, attentive and very professional, every dish was lovely, full of flavour and wonderfully presented, the restaurant itself was very clean, modern with a chill vibe. Definitely will be back to try an evening setting. Thanks again everyone

Delicious food, especially the starters; the gyoza were so juicy and the Korean fried chicken was great. Very good service. Reasonable prices - we had a starter and main each and shared a bottle of wine between 3 and it came to £30 each. Will definitely go again!

Good food but could be better. Went to Oba's after it has been open for a while. New and clean, with welcoming staff and a somewhat focused menu. No hotpot options. The eel/rice and bibimbap did taste excellent, however took 30 minutes to arrive. Portions were also on the small side.

This lovely establishment came as a very welcome surprise after a busy day... Very accommodating staff, delightful ambience and the nicest food ever. They serve halal chicken and beef which was such a nice option to have. The sushi was so fresh i cannot remember having nigiri and sashimi that delicate and soft. I loved the mocktails, pink lemonade was amazing! The staff couldn't have helped more with a homely, comfortable and respectful manner, I couldn't recommend this place more! Definitely one to visit but make sure to book as tables can be busy! Korean and Japanese food done right... looking forward to my next visit!!!!!

Came here for a late lunch. Great vegetarian options and I loved the veg teobokki. The bibimbap was good but wasn't to my taste. The staff were really helpful and easy to have a conversation with.

Fairly smallish restaurant in Leeds but a nice atmosphere and good food. Took my girlfriend with me to eat here and had a great time. We ordered the salmon and tuna sushi, Ttokkbokki with fishcakes and seafood bibimbap. All were great and fairly spicy but not overwhelming. Great on a cold, rainy day. The bits of crispy rice and soft, chewy rice cakes were nice. The staff were fairly nice, and we were seated quickly and served fairly fast. We got our tea refill easily and had no trouble. Overall, it is a charming restaurant with nice Korean food.

Tbh food isn’t as good as expected. 5 stars for cleanliness, atmosphere and presentation. FOOD: If u expect original taste u’ll quite regret it - Bibimbab is ok but could be better - Japchae’s flavour wasn’t authentic but it was tasty - Teriyaki chicken was way too salty to finish - OBA cheese sth chicken was just ordinary fried chicken with no cheese flavour. Actually, I see no cheese presence. - The best of all would be FRIED CHICKEN covered with some KOREAN SAUCE! Which I can’t remember the name I’m a bit disappointed as I’ve just seen another review mentioned about student discount. We came in as a big group of students but the staffs didn’t mention about student discount at all :(

Amazing restaurant with the friendliest staff! We got the veggie japchae and the steak and were absolutely amazed. The black sesame and matcha ice creams were divine! The cocktails are so delicious too and the hospitality of the staff is wonderful. Will definitely be coming back!

I want to thank Oba for being such a unique restaurant. Not only is the food delicious, the staff absolutely amazing and the atmosphere one of a kind but the staff at Oba went their way to make me a surprise for my birthday. By the time I have arrived at the restaurant, the table was decorated, had balloons prepared and was gifted a card wishing me happy birthday (the sweetest honestly!!). After finishing the fantastic food (would recommend the kimchi fried rice and topokki- scrumptious!!), i was served a birthday drink and the staff sang happy birthday to me which i was really touched by. Thank you so much to the staff and chefs for making my birthday special. Will forever remember the experience!!
