We thoroughly enjoyed this ghost walk. It had the spooky element with some really good stories but was also really interesting learning about York’s history. Mackenzie was a great tour guide, very engaging and made sure everyone could see and hear her. We took my mum for her birthday and she loved it! I would definitely recommend this ghost walk. No gimmicks or silly actors which was great. Thanks so much Mackenzie!

Had a great time on the ghost walk with josh this week , kept us all entertained throughout the walk ,loved all the stories and his funny comments would definitely reccomend to do this walk , we went into the golden fleece to find the ghosts 👻 later in the evening but to no avail better luck next time when we are back in york 👍

I took my neices on the tour this evening and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. As a local I've been on many of the ghost tours over the years and this was the best, going to different places from the other tours, and learning new stories. Mackenzie was a great guide & engaging storyteller. Definitely recommended.

An amazing spooky evening in York, finding out some of the gorier aspects of York's history. Our guide, Josh, was brilliant! Very knowledgeable, very entertaining, and very good at keeping our slightly disorganised private group together. Highly recommended, and the private tour was great value for money 😊

Excellent tour. Some great ghost stories with some history and lots of humour. The guide, Josh, was really welcoming and everyone was engaged throughout. A great evening out for a family with older kids, our 12 year old loved it.

Really lovely experience, Dan was really good, great enthusiasm and theatrical approach to the stories, and had everyone laughing. Very interesting stories about Marmaduke Buckle and others also, we did go for a drink in the very haunted pub the next day, which was really nice. Highly recommended.

I bought tickets for the tour for my Mum and myself to go on Mother’s Day. It was one of the first things we did when we arrived in York and it was the highlight of the trip by far! I found Mackenzie to be so engaging, the stories were really well told and with humour! I didn’t want it to end! Going on the tour gave us a really good feel for where we may want to visit later and the recommendations were very welcome. Thanks again for a great experience.

Myself 2 children aged 7 and 11 and 4 adults went on our first ghost walk together last Saturday night. Our guide was Josh and he was fantastic! From the second we started the tour we knew we were in good hands! The tour was jam packed full of fascinating history which as York residents we didn't even know, I honestly can't recommend it enough, fun was had by all ages in our group, a fantastic way to start a Saturday evening 👻x

I was really expecting it to be a scam but it was quite enjoyable. The guide was very passionate about the city and if I was to live in York I would most certainly book one more time just to get to know a bit more stories as they were amazing ! 5 Stars taken by the guide, sorry for forgetting her name but I think it was Jena .

An absolute delight of a tour! Our guide, Dan, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and had an excellent comedic, dramatic flair. The walk was easily paced, the time flew by, and there were historical facts and narratives woven into the spooky tales. Would recommend to anyone visiting York looking to get to know the city. 👻

Such a lovely tour! Dan, our tour guide is very knowledgeable, animated and interactive with the tour group. Great to explore the history of York and interesting ghost stories. I have been to York many times and this is the first time to see it in a different light in the evening and explore some areas in the city where I haven't been to. Also some places I've been to during the day, you get to know a different side of it during the ghost tour.

So where do I start. . .the tour was absolutely fantastic, our guide Mackenzie ❤️ was absolutely fantastic, we all went to various locations in and around York Town centre. The stories were very informative, spooky gory, Edge of your seat stuff and the history was also highlighted. McKenzie very knowledgeable. She had some fantastic stories. I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The hour and a half flew by. She made sure everybody felt comfortable and made the time to speak to everybody. She even she even stayed behind to discuss other related topics and to walked me back to where I was staying.

Cannot recommend Shadows of York enough! Mackenzie was wonderful to correspond with and Dan was an absolutely amazing guide! My fiancé and I loved every minute of it. If you are looking for a great mix of historical and spooky stories, Shadows of York is the place to go! Thanks again for everything!

Dan is very knowledgeable, funny, and entertaining! He has a real talent for storytelling and really keeps you engaged throughout the tour. The tour covers a number of very interesting and spooky ghost stories and local folklore. A must-do on your trip to York!

Despite the weather, absolutely loved this tour. The storytelling was engrossing and fantastic. Mackenzie did a superb job of drawing you in to each story she told and we soon forgot it was raining. Loved every second of this tour, thoroughly recommend. Spooky!

We decided to do a spontaneous visit to York, so we weren't able to book a lot of stuff in advance. Luckily, McKenzie was so accommodating and quick at responding! With only 30mins till the tour started, we were able to attend at the last minute! The tour itself was so interesting and creepy and I loved the intimate size of the group! McKenzie was an amazing tour guide and full of so much knowledge and charisma! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting!

My dad and I joined the Shadows of York Ghost Walk tonight and had a fantastic time! Our guide, Mackenzie, was a great story-teller and the tour content was the perfect mixture of history and ghost stories. Mackenzie was super knowledgeable and made an effort to tell everybody spooky stories about where they were staying in York. We will definitely be joining Shadows of York again next Halloween! PS - our dog, Tilly, thoroughly enjoyed herself too!

Amazing tour! Mackenzie was incredibly knowledgeable and we loved her approach to presenting and telling the ghostly tales of York! It was so fascinating to hear about different ghosts as well as getting a free history lesson alongside! I definitely learnt a lot! If you're looking for a genuinely brilliant and informative ghost tour, you definitely need to pick this!

One of the best ghost tours we have ever been on! I especially appreciated the Mackenzie does her research on all her stories and that they are factually correct. It felt reassuring to know that nothing was added as a gimmick for the tour. We had a great evening, and Mackenzie knows how to bring characters to life. Having been on other tours, the guides don’t always seem to take care that they can be seen and heard. Mackenzie was attentive and a great guide. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful tour by Mackenzie! I have been on a couple York Ghost Tours despite being a bit of a scaredy cat and this has been the best so far. Chilling, captivating and the historian in me loved the balance she struck between stories and their factual origins. If you want a tour in York, hers is the one to do.

What a fantastic ghost walk!! Mackenzie was an absolutely amazing tour guide. Eventhough I've lived in York for over a year, she took us and the group to areas and buildings I'd never come across! Her historical knowledge (clearly thoroughly researched!) and engaging story telling skills were just wonderful. I've been on a few ghost tours of York now, but this one was the best by far! Mackenzie struck the perfect balance between storytelling, theatre and historical accuracy. The group size was just right too. What a great way to spend an evening in York!

What a fantastic experience! My husband and I took our girls (8 and 11) on the 6:30 tour. We all found it extremely informative and entertaining at the same time. Mackenzie has such amazing story telling skills, that when we got to the end, we honestly thought not even 30 minutes had passed. ( Though the watch confirmed a whole 90 minutes had come and gone). We can't recommend this tour enough!

The shadows of York tour was fabulous! Me and my boyfriend decided to do it at 6:30 to make it easier for us to see the places we visited better. McKenzie was incredible! She was so funny, happy and very very knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this tour enough! Suitable for kids too! Lovely end to our stay in York !
