What a little treasure! We visited Brook's after my wife's sister saw a review in the Guardian and recommended we go (she lives in London so could not go herself). The restaurant is small and relaxed, well decorated without being pretentious. Offers a good selection of drinks particularly wines, though their ale selection was a bit limited. The food however was epic! And while it's is not a tapas restaurant, the sharing ethos of the dinner servings makes for a fun and varied eating experience. The treacle malt muffin off the small bites menu was exceptionally delicious, like warm Soreen, and the singular scallop was well cooked and beautifully presented. The small servings menu was delicious, we shared three dishes between the two of us, with the artichoke pasta with oyster mushrooms just pipping the black pudding dish as our favourite. The cod choice not so much, but don't let that fool you, they were all at worst very nice. We shared a large dish, the roast chicken offering accompanied with two side, a delightful pureed cauliflower dish and a caramelized cabbage option. All of which rounded the meal off in style. While not a criticism, more a reflection on my wife and I's preference, the dessert options did not quite appeal, but as we left and retired home to indulge in a food coma, this was no huge loss. Overall, Brook's comes highly recommended. The service was friendly & efficient, and the food being not short of exceptional!

I previously reviewed thIs restaurant just over one year ago. Our return has been well overdue because of the Covid restrictions. The new owners, Lauren and Greg, have taken this wonderful restaurant to an even higher level. If it was possible to give more than a 5* review this is the one restaurant that I would do so. Fantastically refurbished to create a relaxing atmosphere. An imaginative menu (which is changed monthly) offering a range of very tasty, well presented dishes and a fine wine list. We hope to return very soon. A gem of a restaurant.

What a frustrating time we've just had at this place. It had started off so well. The food here is very nice, if a bit overpriced but unfortunately our lovely experience came crashing down, when we came to pay. We had been charged for a substitution, so when it was questioned as to why. We were informed that the substitution costs more to make, than what was taken off. Effectively, they were saying it cost's more to produce and cook one hash brown, than it does to not cook a slice of black pudding, do they even know how asinine that sounds! So for the sake of £2, they stood by their decision and left two locals, who were eating at their establishment for the first time disappointed, frustrated and unlikely to return!

Not to my liking. Sterile atmosphere with inefficient staff. The food was good in parts but nothing exciting. British tapas? The fish dishes were dry as though they were waiting to be served. Would not recommend it to my friends. Disappointed as it was one of my favourite restaurants. ⁹

So lucky to get a table without booking in advance. Friendly, fast, efficient service of unbelievably top quality food. The beer’s pretty special as well - Verdant Brewing Extra Pale Ale. No visit to Brighouse is complete without dining here.

The restaurant is well situated and has a great ambience. The young girls serving were very pleasant and polite. BUT the food although tasty is daylight robbery, it's a joke, the portions are so small and pricey and the drinks are also extremely overpriced. As stated previously it is well situated - fish and chip shop over the road is worth a visit after your meal.

After living in Brighouse forever, I finally got here a couple of weeks back. The food was delicious, I am kicking myself for not getting here sooner!!! A particular highlight was the Goats Cheese Profiteroles! *Chefs Kiss* everything was delicious and I can't wait to go back!!! Well made cocktails, fabulous and friendly service, as well as on my doorstep!!

Fab food, great atmosphere, worth travelling to Brighouse for if you want to support a young couple and their staff who are producing great food at appropriate prices for small plates or for a high quality Sunday lunch. Small restaurant so book ahead and don t damage a small business by booking and then not turning up.

First time visiting Brooks after the new owners have taken over. The restaurant is modern with an old twist. The staff were very tentive. The food was good but not exceptional, a little over priced, presentation of the food could be improved. I have given it a 4 star because of the food being over priced.

Looking at the reviews I hate to do this but we didn't have a good night. When we sat down we were given the menus but we were talking and discussing what we wanted when the waitress came over and asked what we wanted we said we weren't ready and she said she would give us a minute and that is exactly what she did. We said we still weren't quite ready and she rudely replied she would only give us another minute and then said the kitchen was closing. We chose what we wanted and the starters came which were not great. The mains then arrived and the naan breads were burnt and the mussels were bland. They looked like they had been put ontop of the sauce not cooked in it. My husbands chicken was ok but nothing special. We were with another couple who were very disappointed. The manager did ask us if she could bring anything else but we said no. By this time it was late. She did knock us some money off the bill but we were disappointed. Maybe we just got a bad night as the reviews are normally very good. It has been a long time since we were last there and it was definitely not the same. The one thing I was cross about more than the food was the rude waitress.

Genuinely one of the best meals I have ever had. Everything about this place is amazing. The food is an absolute taste sensation, with its menu designed for sharing, the dishes keep coming and each one is in a world of its own. Fresh ingredients, exciting combinations, stunning visuals and love and care in each dish. I ordered more rabbit croquettes for the table when it came to dessert as I fell in love with them. They are a must have. The service is perfect from every one of the team and you can tell that they all enjoy working there and giving great service. The FOH was run by one of the owners, Lauren, who was attentive and lead by example. The other owner, Greg, was in the kitchen helping the culinary wizards do there thing. He popped out to say hello and thank you when we were leaving. The restaurant had a fantastic vibe and each and every table around us was having an equally amazing experience. I brought my sister and brother-in-law here for a pre wedding present and we were greeted with a little bottle of champagne to celebrate, a beautiful little touch. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and look forward to returning again and again. Thank you Lauren, Greg and team for an amazing night. X

There is something indomitable about Brook's with its triumph of seasonal dining that is both wholesome and innovative in equal measures. Greg and Lauren have created a cosy, inviting atmosphere with a contemporary menu of small plates, entrees and speciality dishes in addition to their signature dishes. Coupled with a curated list of fine wines and cocktails and a menu that reinvents itself on a regular basis it all makes for a truly unique experience every visit. A real gem in Brighouse that is to be treasured.

Having come to Brighouse for tje 1940s weekend we were hungry for breakfast and as we noticed how busy it was on Saturday we were pleased to get a table. Swift and courteous service. Little touches such as proper napkins calm decor and lots of natural light made the experience relaxing and tje food well I've never had confit duck benedict before but it's on my favourites list. Turkish eggs also looked yummy. Full English with home made baked beans 👍. Very good coffee and the fresh from the oven madeleines *chefs kiss Highly recommended jewel in Brighouses eatery crown

Visited Saturday lunch time for the first time and we were very impressed both by the food and the friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and the Menu is not to busy. The food we had was delicious and well presented. Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the area.

What a fantastic restaurant. The food, service and drinks selection are first class. I have been here many times and it never disappoints. The beauty of the menu is a selection of small plates which allows you to try different things and share these - a great foody experience. Already made my next booking!

A quick glimpse of the menu prior to our visit to Brook’s Gabe me the excitement that I was about to go on a culinary journey. A journey that to my mind is available in no other restaurant across Calderdale. It’s not the first time I’ve dined at Brook’s albeit last time was for breakfast and I recall that being memorable. This visit was equally as impressive, firstly it’s important to highlight the greeting and overall service from the team which is outstanding. The food journey was phenomenal, I was drawn to the fact that the menu is not meat heavy and there are possibly more dishes without meat then there are with, however, when your cooking to this standard that makes little to no difference. I could write all day and marvel at awesomeness of Brook’s but instead I’ll give you my recommendation that you need to make a booking and get yourself to Brooks, it is without doubt one of the finest restaurants in the area!
