Located
just
a
short
drive
from
the
once
sleepy
hollow
of
Batu
Pahat,
you
would
think
that
Bukit
Banang
Golf
and
Country
Club
is
a
small
time
course
in
a
small
time
town.
You
could
not
be
more
wrong.
Bukit
Banang
may
not
be
among
the
top
ranked
in
Malaysia
but
it
stands
shoulder
to
shoulder
with
any
above
average
course
in
the
country.
From
tee
box
to
tin
cup,
there
is
little
to
complain
about.
Not
that
everything
is
perfect.
The
fairway's
Bermuda
grass
have
patches
of
cow
grass.
Sand
in
some
bunkers
are
still
wet
from
the
previous
days'
rain.
Buggies
can
get
hit
on
tracks
between
parallel
fairways.
Still,
the
course's
interesting
character
shows
through
after
playing
the
first
few
holes.
Apart
for
Hole
2
with
a
mid-section
water
hazard,
they
provide
a
good
warm-up
for
the
challenges
ahead.
Hole
6
par
3
has
a
large
body
of
water
to
carry
with
bunkers
left
and
right
of
the
green.
Hole
9
par
4
is
a
severe
90
degree
dog
leg
left
with
tall
trees
obstructing
heavy
hitters
going
for
the
tiger
line.
Almost
every
hole
in
the
back
nine
have
water
hazards
located
in
various
places
on
the
fairway.
Hole
11
par
5
even
has
two;
one
in
the
middle
and
another
before
the
green.
Hole
13
is
almost
a
replica
of
Hole
6
except
the
water
body
is
bigger
and
the
green
smaller.
The
signature
Hole
18
par
4
provides
two
fairways.
A
straight
direct
one
if
your
drive
can
carry
the
water
and
an
oblique
one
on
the
right
for
shorter
drives.
From
here
you
have
to
cross
the
water
a
second
time
to
bring
your
ball
back
toward
the
green.
Put
Bukit
Banang
on
your
golf
itinerary
with
an
overnight
stay
in
Batu
Pahat.
You
will
be
rewarded
not
only
with
a
good
game,
but
also
the
simple,
well-cooked
variety
of
local
food
all
over
town.
You
might
even
be
tempted
to
play
a
second
round
and
stay
another
night
just
for
the
food.
So
much
to
eat
and
so
little
time.
