We liked this Malaysian restaurant for its authentic food and friendly service. Its interior was bright and airy with lots of seatings. The beef satay was tender and flavorful. For noodle dishes, we liked Char kway teow (fried rice noodle) and Seafood tom yum mee hoon (rice noodle soup). Hainan chicken was good too. The location was a bit out of the way for us. Otherwise, we would have visited more often.

This place is kind of a hidden gem in Jersey City. More locals know about this place than others. If you know what Fun Buffet looked like before Mamak took over, you will see a huge difference. My family and I tried this place out years ago when they first opened, and the food was definitely worth it, but they needed a little upgrade with their service, menu, layout of the tables and the look itself inside. I think Covid or something happened that they closed for a while, but not for long. They came back stronger than ever. Better menu, better prices, layout and ambiance was much better, not to mention their service ..... super nice and friendly. My family and friends have become regulars. We love the food, the drinks and the service! Weve tried almost everything on their menu already, and we will certainly be back for more! The food here was really good! I came here on a Saturday evening by myself and I got the chicken satay and kung pow chicken (not sure if I spelled that right lol). I will note that the chicken from the satay is the same chicken that’s in the kung pow chicken entree. I wosh I would’ve known that, I would’ve ordered a entree with beef in it instead. Although my entree took a while to come out it was great. I’d come back and try some of their other items. Like if this was helpful 👍🏾 Subscribe to my Youtube channel: Safiya Lin

Came here out of curiosity. Been craving Malaysian food and options are VERY slim. For the longest time Satay in Hoboken was the only game around short of traveling into the city. I’ve traveled to Malaysia myself and have tried everything from street food and hawker stalls to nicer sit down restaurants so I’d like to think I have a pretty good idea what Malaysian food should be like. I was pleasantly surprised to find the taste and quality to be quite good. I ordered the following Roti canai - the roti (crepe) was great! A touch too crispy but that is a minor gripe. Overall the quality of the roti is very very good. The curry sauce was also very good, just mildly spicy, nothing too overwhelming. Beef rendang (lunch special) - let me get this out of the way and say rendang is pretty hard to get right in general (especially with beef). Taste wise it’s just the right level of spicy and savory. A touch salty but I’m a lot more sensitive to salt than most. My only critique is that I wish the beef were just a bit more tender (some pieces were but others weren’t). Overall, I’d def order it again as it still satisfied my craving and gets most of the way there. Portion was also just right for lunch especially with an app. Note: lunch special came with a spicy chicken soup which was really good! Thai iced tea - just right, not too sweet, and not watery. If I had to ask for more it would just be a bit more tea but my preference is always stronger tea flavor. Would order again. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu and plan to bring my family and friends in time. The staff are quick and courteous and the dining room is clean. Lots of take out orders.

Food was delicious. The Kung Pao chicken is probably the best I’ve had since moving out here and the peanut sauce for the Satay Beef was gone faster than you could say “yum”!

Guys, this not like a Chinese food. It's a southeast Authentic Malaysian food. Some of the food can be spicy but for these type of dish has a good kick to it. Beef rangdang must get. The beef is tender with a kick of spicy in your mouth. The rotti bread always crispy dip it in the curry chicken sauce. The fried noodle has mix with seafood develope brown sauce on it Staff was very helpful and friendly too. Highly recommend!!

Situated next to NJ-440, this is an excellent place for trying some Malaysian delight. The is surprisingly bug inside, everything's shiny and new, lots of parking space. They have a large menu, including paper takeout ones. We ordered our fav Roti Canai for appetizers, alongside chicken satay and tom yum soup. Loved the canani, sauce was delicious. The satay was cooked well too, came with peanut sauce on the side. I was disappointed with the tom yum, it was missing the lemongrass flavor me. The was more creamy and thick, I am used to the thin lemon flavor style. For entree we got the seafood with curd, some green vegetables and the Ayam Rendang (dark meat chicken with special curry sauce). I loveeed the Rendang, a very unique dish, never saw it in other Malaysian or Thai restaurants. The curry is creamy but not spicy. Chicken is delicately soft. Overall we were happy with our meal and service. It will be one of our go to places in JC.

This was a accidental find on my way to home but glad that I tried out this restaurant, this is a mix of Malaysian, Thai and Chinese food, the service was extremely nice and the waiters recommend us some nice dishes. I would recommend trying out the fried noodle dishes and also the fried ice cream. I would love to visit this place again to try other dishes.

Americanized "Malaysian" food, maybe? Ordered 133, sambar sotong, got I don't know what. The server tells me I got the right item, but it doesn't match the photo on the menu. Then, as I leave, another guy chases after me for a tip outside the restaurant. After a conversation, he says that there is a misprint on 133 on the menu and its actually golden calamari appetizer. I had to give him a $20 note to get away from the property safely. The tom yum soup and kangkung vege was good, though. Just google "Sambal Sotong" and tell the 30+ years of experienced Malaysian cook to make it or change the menu picture. What a joke. First of a kind experience. X boleh la...

Authentic Malaysian food!! Made the trek here on a whim and was absolutely blown away. We had seen another reviewer complaining about the soup broth of the prawn mee and that did not deter us one bit. It’s an acquired taste and Mamak House nailed it! Perfectly savory with a hint of sourness. All the toppings, from the pork slices to the beansprouts and fried shallots, were spot on, except that you wouldn’t get such large prawns from the average hawker. Everything else we ordered was great! Would give the satay a miss if you’re picky - flavor was right but the pieces were too large and less charred than I’d like. Highly recommend and will be back for more!

Food was great. Service was great. My only gripe is that when we paid and left the restaurant, one of the waiters decided to come outside and ask about the tip that I left. The fact that I'm leaving a tip to begin with should be good enough, but to come outside and ask for more is embarrassing. I will never grasp the tipping culture in this country. I am spending money to eat, and I got good service alongside the meal, so I tipped. However, we are NOT OBLIGATED to do so.

We used to love the food here, but in our last visit in December 2022, we saw a mouse wondering in the dining area (saw it two times while eating), and squeezing its body into the gap between the wall next to the kitchen area and the couch. We mentioned it to the server, and was told that he would tell his boss. I hope they did call a pest control.

Authentic Malaysian food in NJ. The roti curry sauce was the thickest I have ever seen. Usually at other restaurants it's kind of watered down. The hinan chicken is Amazing as was the duck. My only problem was the honey squid appetizer. It was soo crunchy all the way through. Like a potato chip. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that. I'll most likely never order that again.

We enjoyed our dinner here. We arrived shortly before closing, but the staff was pleasant and the food was very good. Sort of an Asian diner type atmosphere. We will be back.

Honestly was a great experience. Customer service was very good. Waitress recommended different menu items without being asked. Food was tasty and honestly the roti canai is the best appetizer, also why it's first on the menu. Mango sticky rice was the perfect not too sweet and healthy desert. Food was delicious and I would definitely recommend coming here and I'll be going again most definitely. Pricing was pretty decent as well.
