The restaurant was lovely, the service was outstanding, the meal was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful.

I have understood the borch soup is with meat and the beet and bones soup... so in this place I ordered a borcht soup and it was only the beet with more beet chopped and with more beet slices and more beet cubs and smashed beet, and nothing else on it. The goat meat tasted like old, musty, and greasy, the rice was hard to eat. The service was horrible, the waitress tamit or ( something like that ) was on her phone in the corner, she didn't offered us water or any drink, ( one guy he did it because he saw us when he was on his way to the bar area) the old lady with glasses she also was in the corner with her phone and she saw us we were asking for helping but she ignored us, we felt bad and uncomfortable here but we were very starved so we didn't have other options plus it was raining so we waited like for 15 minutes until our waitress came.... NOTE: the restaurant was empty, we were only me and my partner.

The dinner was tasty. The service was good. There was no bartender but the waitress served me the largest glasses of Georgian wine. I would go back. The mash potatoes were bland.

Chinar on the Island offers excellent food with a great ambiance. The live music adds to the charm, and the freshness of the dishes is truly impressive. A culinary gem worth experiencing.

Never again! This restaurant is known for very delicious food, and we decided to make a banquet for 25 people to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a disaster, even though the food was delicious as usual! There was just not enough of it compared to other times we were here. The amount of food served was half of the expected! Two menu dishes were not served at all... I cannot imagine people in a restaurant sitting at empty tables with empty plates and waiting for the dessert for an hour! Half the guests left without eating the cake, because there were not enough clean plates to set the table for dessert timely. We feel our guests were dishonored, and we are very disappointed by extremely unprofessional management and service. The waiters do not know their basic responsibilities and skills. Before the party started, they were asked to arrange napkins in a decorative way. The response was they did not know how to do it and continued talking on their cell phones. What a shame! Neither the money for missing food nor DEPOSIT MONEY was ever returned. Indecent and unprofessional business...

The food is great and the Service is impeccable. The waiters/waitresses are always on point and don’t need to be asked for anything, they just know!!! Chinar hosted my wedding, and we will be going there for my husbands 40th this year.

My recent visit to Chinar was outstanding! The ambiance was inviting, service impeccable, and the food, a true masterpiece. From appetizers to dessert, every dish was a delight. Their diverse menu caters to all tastes. I can't wait to return! Highly recommended! Plus Tam is one of the best waitresses!!

Great authentic Mediterranean and European cuisine. Great variety of choices on the menu to fulfill every taste. The staff is very attentive and professional. The service is fast. You can have a drink from the full bar while enjoying the delicious food. We left the place full and satisfied.

I came all the way from London to visit Chinar! I had the best experience at this restaurant. The staff at Chinar are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist and make your experience special. The restaurant's attention to detail extends to its elegant decor, creating a pleasant ambience for any occasion. My favourite meal was the lamb chops, alongside the potatoes! Their food goes above and beyond any restaurant I have been to before. Couldn't recommend enough!

Have been going here since I was young. Have seen this place under new management multiple times. Never has the service been this good. Food is delicious and service is amazing. Since under new management have had 3 parties here and wouldn’t have them anywhere else. Definitely would recommend. Btw GET THE TUNA TAR TAR, absolutely delicious!!!

I was invited as a guest to a wedding anniversary. This restaurant had a very unprofessional level of service. The plates were served in blue rubber gloves! The Pandemic is over and this is not the presentation you’d want to see in a five-star restaurant. In a five-star restaurant you do not expect dirty forks and knives falling from writers’ hands making the floor dirty, greasy, and slippery. I was also expecting that wine and other liquor would be poured, or at least offered, to the guests. I felt like we came to a self-service Chinese buffet rather than a 5 star restaurant. Utensils were also wrapped inside napkins like in a lunch room rather than nicely decorated. If you really want to enjoy the food AND experience a five-star service I would suggest to think about a different place

Booked a banquet for a special occasion. For the per-person price paid, there was certainly a shortage of food. I thought it might have been just me as I was hosting/dancing and just didn’t get a chance to eat, but the following day most of the guests were complaining that the first time in their lives they left the "Russian" restaurant literally hungry. The manager was trying to convince us that our company were super big eaters, that is why nothing was left on the plates. How nice! Most of the people didn't even taste more than two dishes out of eight main courses on the menu, because everything else was eaten immediately being served in a very small amount. Personally I ate two slices of salmon, two spoonfuls of salad, mashed potatoes with a tiny piece of fish, and a lamb chop. I'm probably "the biggest eater" in the company. It is definitely not worth what we paid for a plate. Additionally, we bought a very specific type of champagne for one of our specialty drinks. However, the waiter brought out a completely different champagne that was cheaper and did not work with our recipe. He said that the other waiter mixed all the champagne bottles up, and he did not know which one was ours. Very cheap and unprofessional. The guests were also sitting behind the table with empty glasses as the waiters didn’t bother pouring, or even offering, any beverages. This is a common expectation from such a highly rated restaurant, which didn’t happen. When the waiters finally showed up, I was shocked to see them in blue rubber gloves, like they came to clean the bathroom, not serve food to people. Overall, very disappointing.

We were invited to a banquet on August 27th to CHINAR on Staten island. We have been to this restaurant before but it never looked so neglected and dirty. First thing that caught my eyes was the front of the restaurant- very unkept and neglected...weeds were consuming the entire outdoor area.. some weeds were plucked and just thrown on the floor, cigarette buds and cigarette packs by the entrance doors. There used to be decorative ever greens in the big pots by the parking lot which died due to draught and not watering and now the pots were just used as a place for garbage which was very unappealing. The first impression was very untidy and unwelcoming. Another big area that was very disgusting was the women's bathroom... Very very dirty,old and outdated. Toilet seats were covered in blue stains from the cleaners and were no longer white but gray and all rubbed off, no toilet paper in the stalls, stalls were all dirty with brown stains and rusted and looked like they were not cleaned in months, floors were cracked and dirty, there was a huge brown hand towel roll just standing by the sink which was all wet from people trying to rip off the tissue with wet hands. it's not so hard to install a dispenser. The restaurant also seemed to be very understaffed. Usually each party gets a waiter or 2 who is there to serve the food and alcohol to the guests for that one party...we had no server at our party unless we called them. There were about 3 other parties and a few individual tables on the other side of the restaurant besides us. It was obvious the waiters were serving the other parties in the next hall as well and could not handle the amount of guests to provide quality service. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the food was absolutely delicious. Kudos to the chef! However the quantity of food was way less than we usually experienced. We had 8 people on our end of the table and the dishes that came out were only enough for like 3 people. For example, there was a fish dish with mashed potatoes which only had 3 small pieces of fish. If u stepped away to dance u did not get to try the dish because there was just not enough for all.

Braised beef ribs were so tender you can spread it on bread like butter- We had it with mash potatoes. Dessert was a cream cheese Mediterranean cake accompanied with cappuccino. Wine was not available due to pending liquor license but it was worth it. Another plus is that restaurant is near the boardwalk where you can walk your meal off if that’s a option for you!! 👍

Just a short drive from New York City, Chinar On The Island is close enough for city dwellers to drive to for an impromptu night out, but also far enough away for you to make a special occasion of it.

I had a party here in the beginning of July and they exceeded all of my expectations. The food was delicious and the workers always had a smile on. Overall great experience will be throwing more parties here.

Last week we had my husband anniversary celebration in Chinar restaurant. The food was delicious, and the presentation was great. We had a wonderful time with our friends and family. The management and staff were friendly, and the services were great. The food tasted great, and the presentation was awesome. All together, the ambiance, the service, the quality of food, the music, the saxophone player, and the singer made our celebration special and unforgettable. We are truly grateful.

We held our daughter's Sweet 16 party here. Everything was amazing. The hosts could not have been more accommodating and helpful in setting everything up. The staff is also great, and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend this place for parties.
