The
young
lady
at
the
cash
register
was
this
place's
only
saving
grace.
As
I
was
walking
in,
the
sign
on
the
door
stated
'covers
the
nose
and
mouth
before
entering
the
store.
There
was
a
woman
named
Jan
and
as
I
was
paying
for
my
items,
I
asked
the
young
lady
at
the
cash
register
if
this
Dollar
General
accepted
cash.
She
said
yes
and
I
was
elated
as
there
are
many
places
that
are
refusing
to
accept
cash
even
though
it
is
illegal
to
refuse
cash.
So
as
I
am
packing
my
bags
up,
Jan
looks
over
to
me
and
asks,
'Well
why
can't
I
refuse
to
accept
cash?"
It
was
a
fair
question
and
so
I
explained
to
her
how
each
note
has
printed
on
it
'THIS
NOTE
IS
LEGAL
TENDER
FOR
ALL
DEBTS,
PUBLIC
AND
PRIVATE'.
She
read
it
with
me
and
concluded,
'Well
aren't
you
stretching
the
meaning
of
the
law?
"
First
and
foremost,
if
you
are
working
in
a
Dollar
General
and
you
talk
to
a
client
like
this,
I
really
think
you
should
re-evaluate
how
you
talk
to
CUSTOMERS.
I
was
very
polite
when
I
explained
to
her
the
history
of
why
a
common
currency
system
was
created
and
she
responded
with
rudeness.
She
interrupts
me
as
I
am
explaining
the
historical
context
and
says
"Yeah
I
already
know
the
history,
but
that's
not
how
it
works
here.
You
must
be
from
the
city?
Here,
we
barter,
that's
how
it
works
here
"
I
continued
to
be
nice
to
her
but
it
was
an
incredibly
rude
and
unwelcoming
experience.
This
employee
spoke
down
to
me
because
I
am
from
the
city
and
seeing
that
she
PROFITS
from
my
business
at
this
store,
she
should
have
been
taught
manners
and
respect.
