Very interesting place and a very important part of Swedish history. The mine was in use for a millennium before ceasing operations in 1992 and is now an UNESCO world heritage site. At the peak of its operations it produced two thirds of Europe's copper.

I did a tour through the mines and visited the museum. The museum is very well done and even if a lot of the stuff more targeted children, I had a lot of fun. The tour through the mines was also really interesting and our guide did a really good job.

Located in the Falun municipality, a very interesting, exciting and historic place to visit. Had the opportunity to spend a whole day as part of coursework under the Master's degree programme at Uppsala University. The place has a cafe with good coffee and a sovenier shop. Visited the underground mine which was a lifetime experience.

We loved the trip to the mine! The tour underground is awesome and very interesting even for small children. Our 4 year old loved it, our 7 year old was a bit scared. We had a great time. Lunch was also very nice in the local restaurant. Not crowded at all. The museum is also beautifully decorated with interactive corners.

Interesting museum with an underground tour. You can either only buy a ticket for the exhibitions on the surface or the whole package with the tour underground. I highly recommend the tour, because the exhibitions on the surface are quite interesting, but the highlight is the guided tour, so in my opinion there is no way around that. The area is quite crowded, so be aware that you may have to wait 1-2 hours until your tour - but meanwhile you can visit the museum and exhibitions on the surface.

Very Good experience! Nice guide and very cool mine, you go down 67 meters and get a good view of how the mine was in 1700.

A must visit if you are in Falun. You can take a guided tour that takes you 67m down in the mine. A museum and a gift shop is there too. Also a placento eat and a playground.

My recent visit to the Falun Copper Mine and encounter with the iconic Mine Lady left me awe-struck and deeply immersed in the rich history and cultural heritage of Sweden. This historical site, with its remarkable copper mining operations and the intriguing folklore surrounding the Mine Lady, proved to be an unforgettable experience. The Falun Copper Mine itself is a marvel of engineering and human determination.

Very good place to learn some history. I went inside with a tour guide for an hour. It’s fun and knowledgeable. Worth recommended for a visit.

Great experience. A UNESCO heritage site learning about the most important mine in Europe. It's really beautiful and the museum is interactive and innovative as well. It is worth your visit especially regarding that mining is a big part of Swedish culture

Very interesting and historical, a visit is highly recommended. The huge dimensions of the mine are simply breathtaking. The museum is also full of information. Unfortunately, some equipment is broken and needs to be repaired. The staff at the reception and also the guides are very nice and helpful and happy to answer all questions. The mine is so huge that we unfortunately could only visit a very very small part, we would have liked to see more. We would also have liked to see the historic buildings on the surface, but these are only open for a visit in the summer months.

Very interesting visit in the underground of the mine, very impressive that a lot of people should have to do such work to live for giving copper to others

The Falun Mine was a good experience for us (was part of a couple’s trip in late June 2023). We haven’t seen such an old mine before and we had a guided walk through the mine, and a museum visit at the end. Would recommend going there if you’re able to spare a bit of time when you visit Uppsala/Stockholm.

The reason why all the houses in Sweden are red! It was cool and interesting to walk around here and to learn more about the old mine and the red colour. Toilets available too, which is always a bonus if you’ve been walking for some time.

Exceptional experience! The guided tour is a must-have and also have a stroll in the museum. The history of the mine and how it plays a part in the history of Sweden is noteworthy.

This was an excellent experience. I never visited a mine before. The mine was represented in state what is it used to look like 200 years ago. You really get a sense of how mining used to work and the tour guide was great. Make sure you have proper shoes on as sometimes it’s could to be slippery.

Very interesting tour under ground. Beware if you're not that fit, there's lots of climbing stairs up and down.

Absolutely worth seeing. Shares so much Swedish history but also its significant impact on Europe for so many hundreds of years.

You gotta see this historical mining site, dating back all the way to 11th century. Even the museum is worth the effort. The tour would take longer if you take the Great Pit, underground and the long trail. If you want to know also about how the rusty scarlet paint was produced, then come and see this place. Classic red Swedish house was a symbol status, indeed!

Very good tour of the mine. Worth the time and experience. Take the time to also visit the small houses and sites outside.

Wonderful experience. I've been in many natural caves before, but did not know the difference in feel to a mine. Great experience. The only downside was the timing of the underground tour. We had to wait 4 hours to be able to join a tour because we were with 2 people and there was only one spot left on the earlier tour. When we finally did our underground tour it was obvious they could have easily fitted us to the earlier tour. I guess the staff at the reception could have been a little more flexible and informative about this.

Falu Mine is one of those places you go to have good time with your whole family. Both adults and children finds this place really amazing. I enjoyed the guided tours where I got chance to see these amazing underground tunnels and the technical mining evolution through time. Food and drinks were amazing as well. It was the best place for kids to play Pokémon Go as well. Very peaceful and relaxing place to visit 🙂

Really nice experience. Good Guide that tells the story and can answer all your questions. 1 hour guide in the mines and after you can visit the museum. Definitely a recommended visit! Price is a bit high, but worth it.

👍 Mycket besöksvärd kyrka centralt beläget i Falun.
