I would rate 0 Star if I could. I do like shopping here as it is convenient for me and my wife. But today's experience was awful and disgraceful. This evening around 19:24 as I was scanning items at self service check out, I was approached by Aroon in a very poor manner and rude attitude. got into my personal space and started checking the till without saying HI, then asked me what was the last item I have scanned? I answered I don't remember as I was adjusting items after scanning them. I have three large shopping bags..and got more items in my trolley. Then he checked the till and said to me next time make sure you remember what item you scan.!!! again in a very poor manner. I said why do I have to remember items since the till is back to scale and I am not finished shopping. He replied because when I asked you, you should remember.!!! again in a very rude manner. I asked him is this is the way you talk to customers? and asked for his name but he wouldn't tell me and started walking away from me towards the exit door by the security. I had to follow him all the way to get his name as he was very rude and got 0 customer service scales . When we got to the security guy the first thing he told me that he will get us kicked out of the store. I asked him how will I be kicked out ? I only asked for your name and havent done anything wrong. Then Lauren( I believe she is the security manager) arrived so I had the chance to speak to her about the issue and the poor experience. explaining how Aroon had threatened to kick us out and accused me of putting items in my bag without scanning them. !!! that was very offensive and disrespectful !!! this was while Lauren present. Lauren had told me that I should finish my shopping and that she cant kick us from the store as I am still in process of scanning items and have not done anything wrong. So went and finished my shopping and asked to speak to the floor manager but none was present. also asked for a complaint form but none exist in this store. This has to be the worst shopping experience at ASDA for almost 8 years of shopping here. Aroon has made our shopping experience very stressful and unpleasant . Very poor customer service and bad attitude by aroon. 0 customer service from Aroon.

I did recently make a review on here about the kiosk being closed during a weekday all though it’s a 24h store. As of 26-7-2023 at around 11.05pm As usual I leave work and go right to the store for a pack of cigarettes and is usually fine except when Margret is working ( like tonight) Most of the time she closes the kiosk and refuses service, but tonight I went there and me and another guy were walking till 11.15 and being completely ignored with only a couple of customers at the self checkout, so a went to ask her for assistance and she barely answered and just shook her head at me and walked away, so I went back to the kiosk to wait until I got a-bit irritated since I had a bus to catch when I once again asked for assistance where she said “I’m coming man I have 20 off till to look after” I replied back to her ok but “Iv been watching you for 5 minutes just standing there” she told me to leave and I’m not getting service. Iv been coming to this store for the good part of 3 years a few times a week and by far it’s the worst experience and is shocking that this is allowed to happen

Visited the cafe today with my 3 year old granddaughter and was served by two lovely ladies. They were so helpful and friendly, especially towards my granddaughter who is a very fussy eater. Once of the ladies also carried my tray to the table for me as I walk with a stick, 1st time anyone has ever done that in any restaurant for me THANK YOU AGAIN to that lovely lady. We really enjoyed our food which was served straight away and my granddaughter ate more than I’ve ever seen her eat which was lovely to see. I thoroughly enjoyed my latte. I know that other reviewers have commented that during busy times there is usually a wait to be served, but that is not down to the staff, it’s more lack of staff and bad organisation on senior management level. Maybe a suggestion that someone from senior management could spend the day working in the cafe to see for themselves how improvements could be made to help staff and make things more efficient .

Frustrating just seems to get worse! They constantly move things round (now almost weekly). To the point where the staff don't even know where items are, they are stressed out and seem to struggle. No wonder half of them are off sick (as told by a stressed out supervisor). Customers walking around confused and angry verbally expressing their frustration. Inadequate no of tills open. Self service under staffed. Scan and go under staffed. Customer service has gone to ruin as the strive to increase profits is all they care about!

It's Asda so you know what you are going to get. Large store so easy to get around, easy and large parking area and benefit of fuel station which is almost always the cheapest in the area. Excellent value for money. The cafe is great if you are shopping early and want breakfast, excellent value and VERY tasty. You really can't go wrong with ASDA.

I have just had wonderful service and support from Megan in the photo shop at the Gateshead Metro centre. I needed some urgent passport photos of my granddaughter where Megan went the extra mile, with a smile on her face and other customers to also look after. I will certainly use the photo shop again. Thanks Megan

The young lady who was running the photo shop was excellent. We will definitely use the service again. However, the way to the car park is best described as dog-end alley. As a disabled person, my walking speed is very slow so the experience in this disgusting area was prolonged.

We have shopped in the Metro centre store hundreds of times but today it was absolute chaos at the checkouts, there were only 3 staffed tills so the queues for each one stretched the whole aisle, we joined the queue at 11.31 and paid the bill at 12.02, I'll shop elsewhere in future. Apparently there were several staff off sick, if that's the case, don't you have pool staff to call on?

Nearly all fresh produce, meat and veg have only 1 day shelf life on them. The loose tangerines were shocking, clearly well past their sell by date and starting to rot in the display tray. How these are still on display for sale astounds me. Prices on the rise and food quality on a steep downward spiral. Aldi and Lidl will be getting my business in future. Asda clearly do not care about quality these days.

Visited the cafe with my mum and kids. Such wonderful customer service from Sonia serving us in the cafe, she made the children feel so welcome and attended to our dietary needs accordingly. Despite it being very busy during lunch time she made time for us all and was very kind, friendly and attentive. A credit to the team. Thank you :)

Staff haven't been tried properly to sell moble phones. They even admitted not being trained but Tracy the store manager would not admit she had not trained her staff and refused to help/take responsibility.

Unfortunately it’s only 3 stars. Multiple times I’ve been in for a vegan option from the fridges for lunch & nothing. The store itself does have a large selection of free from/vegan options tho.

Asda used to be so disabled friendly, However their recent updated fridges and freezers have made shopping in Asda for those in wheelchairs almost impossible. I have a compact electric wheelchair and used to use their scooters so I didn't have to manage with a trolley because their disabled ones are not compatible with any of the electric wheelchairs I've had, but because they don't maintain them at all I had to give up with that, because changing scooter 5 times during a shop even on quieter times is unacceptable just because staff don't want to put the on charge or worse they are in so poor state of repair you get shocks from them or they cut out randomly. I perfected a technique managing with a smaller trolley and lifting my footplate in order to steer the trolley. But now with the fridges it's nearly impossible to shop at all. Because I have to literally park the trolley up somewhere and manoeuvre by opening the fridge door with one hand then manouver round it each time to reach items then repeat to shut them. Also making it impossible to use any grabbing aids to reach higher items because my hands are all taken up with the wheelchair controls and holding the door that getting any object out is hard let alone those higher up. I understand these fridges are meant to be more economicaly friendly but where was the equality rep when these were thought up. Seriously considering taking this up with head office regarding discrimination as I'm totally aware they are installing them right across asdas throughout the country. I'd seriously recommend any other wheelchair users who find the same issue to demand these are removed. No large supermarket these days should so unfriendly for disabled shoppers. I came out from what used to be a pleasent shop today tearing my hair out. Disgusting

If you're only going to staff two of twenty checkouts, it makes sense to staff the wide ones first. The wheelchair with attached trolley can't fit through the others but anyone can fit through the wide aisle.

A great shop that has literally everything you need for yourself and your home. Food,Clothes,Furniture and electrical items like TVs and kitchen appliances. There's is plenty of parking and you can also get to it by public transport. It is situated near The Metro Centre also. It is close to IKEA and The Range so there is plenty of shopping to be done. It is a spacious store also.

Store was fine. Fair warning if you want to use the toilets, the men’s toilets are absolutely disgusting, piss all over the floor and god knows how long it has been there for. The smell of it was unbearable.

I wanted to buy couple of beers but night staff refused to accept my resident permit for age verification even though it was written any form of ID with a picture and date of birth is acceptable. She didn’t accept my other international IDs as well. Don’t need to point the reason!

Disappointed with food & non-food stock levels. Some staff gathered in groups chatting instead of helping. Some were not especially friendly. Long waits at checkout. Self checkout had faults. Not a retailer I'll be in a rush to revisit I'm afraid.

Staff pleasant enough….but offers on show do not necessarily appear on receipt, then when you try to contact store to complain….phone call just keeps getting cut off. Whatever happened to ‘customer service’ 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 Encouraged to get prompt response to review……just a pity that I live at the coast & was only visiting store with friend who lives in Whickham….so whilst I would love to take them up on offer to ‘pop in’, and get issue sorted, I’m afraid that with the price of petrol…this just isn’t feasible ☹️

Have just finished my breakfast mainly because I was hungry, husband is the same.. Black pudding was inedible, baked beans served in a clump, bacon solid and sprang of the plate when attempting to cut, sausage and hash brown very crispy and dried up.. the whole thing looked like it had been cooked last night and reheated.. Freshest thing we had was the latte that we got to wash it down.. We use the Cafe on a weekly basis, last weeks was spot on and the lady that served us was very customer orientated. This week all we got was be careful the plates are hot..! The cafe wasn’t and still isn’t busy, but the food was very very dry/stale if you like. Have never had cause to complain before have always complimented the staff .. Not today and definitely not next Friday either.. very off putting at the price paid for one MIni and One Full Breakfast..

Many thanks to the staff at this store, I received my online Christmas week delivery , all the products were excellent with a few substitutions but the small turkey breast was out of stock, I fully expected this due to supply issues and Covid etc, I had a call from a lady team member who said they were putting a new turkey on the van that day,as the staff hated to think that customers were going without a turkey at Christmas very good service at a very busy time i am very impressed and thanks again. a very merry Xmas to all.

Alright store. Has mostly everything you need. Be warned though they don't require coins for the trollies. Might sound good, but some customers are lazy t***s that just dump them all over the carpark. So park as far from the entrance as possible. Unless you like finding dings and scratches on your car

Bought one item of clothing but a day later noticed I’d been charged twice. Attempted to call the local Asda at Metro Centre, Sat listening to a pre recorded message only to be told to go online to try resolve issue!! What’s the point in having a phone number if no one answers it?!! Surely you should have some sort of customer service team to assist in any issues?!! This would sole the issue of me having to do a 45 mile round trip in order to try resolve an issue caused by the store!!

The store was well sign posted and based on two floors with trolley friendly escalator as well. The store was well stocked on the whole apart from cheaper value and essential brands leaving blank shelves. The aisles were easy to navigate and move around. The automated till area works however Asda should divide the basket and trolley up rather continually redirect customers.

Went into store today for advice on passport renewal at the photo department. Spoke to Georgia who is an absolute star! She talked us through the whole process and proceeded to complete the paperwork and photos for us. All done on line and she served several other customers at the same time in a professional manner to keep everyone happy. She certainly is an asset to the business with customer service second to none. Well done and much appreciated.

My husband decided to shop early today to avoid the ques. He could not find a price. So asked one of the assistants for help. She told him she was busy as a picker and couldn't. So he then had to look for someone else, only person around was another lady picking aswell. But when asked she was more than happy to help him.
