This wasn't a planned walk we was doing but we ended up walking up there. Absolutely beautiful views from the summit, quite rocky when you get to the top. I thought it was easier than it looks, some good paths up there and some steps too with chains for support going up these. There was me thinking how well I done and then I see people running up and down there ๐Ÿ˜ณ I now don't feel so fit. Definitely worth a visit but wear suitable walking boots ......

great views. hike is moderately hard since there is quite an incline but doable. there was a mom hiking while breastfeeding a baby so I felt I had no excuses for not making it to the top. the path is quite laid out. for me I had to take a few rest stops but was able to make it to the top for a lovely view.

The trip from the bottom to the top in January month is slippery so be aware of what kind of shoes you have on. Remember to stop during the accent to enjoy the view from different levels. When you get to the top you are getting an amazing virรธew over the city. I took the route down the other side it was a bit difficult to find markings but got down with both arms and legs.

The place is beautiful when you are tired of walking through the city. It was a very calm moment even though the wind was so strong that at some point I had to hold myself not to be blown away. It is a hike but a short one that everyone can handle in their own pace. The views are insane but might be quite crowded.

The short hike up has multiple view points that give you some awesome views of the city and the surroundings. And if itโ€™s a clear day, the top gives you huge Panaromic views of the entire area. Definitely 100% recommend going to the top. Be aware it can get super windy up there though so pack accordingly.

You can hike up from Holyrood in different ways, but it's worth taking a less crowded path for the best views in peace and quiet. Worth sticking to the official paths as some are scrambles up and over slippy rocks. It also gets crazy busy at the top, but the views are totally worth it, especially on a sunny day! ๐ŸŒ„๐Ÿ˜Ž

When climbing up from the palace of Holyroodhouse it is a nice and fairly even climb up the hill. (Maybe I should say old volcano ๐ŸŒ‹) The last part to the top is a bit more adventurous, lots of loose rocks and stones also the rocks are worn, making them more slippery. Which makes the way down from the top a bit more slippery. Going down the other side of the hill is really nice. There is a little staircase on that side of the hill, way more quiet than the way we came up. By the way, the views from up Arthur's seat and its surrounding hillsides are amazing, definitely worth the climb!!!

Beautiful sun rise on the Arthur's seat. The path is easy to find and follow from the bottom of the Royal Mail. The track is easy but the last few metres are a little bit more challenging. But nothing serious. The view over the city of Edinburgh is worth the effort.

No picture can describe how beautiful the view was. Itโ€™s worth the climb and you can take multiple options to get there, test your fitness and enjoy fresh air. For those coming with car, it is free Saturday / Sunday. During week days, itโ€™s 1ยฃ an hour

I went on this hike around 10:00am and it took me about 45 minutes total (up and down) but I did not take breaks on the hike while climbing and coming back down. I think anybody can do this hike (for beginners) as it has amazing views and you can stop to take pictures along the way to take breaks. There is a clear pathway to follow, but you definitely have to wear proper shoes as it is rocky and steep along the way. I also took a walk through Holyrood park and stopped along a little pond. Would recommend this hike when visiting Edinburgh as the views are great.

Want to see Edinburgh as one of the most beautiful cities in the World - try the climbing onto the top of the Arthur's just before the sun rises (in a sunny day) and be impressed. The climb is just about 40 minutes from the Holyrood Palace, not too fast, it's not really difficult even for mountain beginners well apart from the last short part which is steep.

This is a must-do in Edinburgh if you are physically able. The view of Edinburgh from several spots along the way and definitely at the top are breathtaking. You get a 360 view of the city and can see the North Sea. I had on regular tennis shoes and was fine. That would not be the case of it was raining though. It is about 850 feet of elevation and the path we took requires some scrambling. The wind was at about 15mph which made it a bit cold. Check the weather as a coat, gloves and hat may be necessary. These pictures donโ€™t do it justice.

Went up this in 2021 as part of my birthday! Saw it from the Castle and we thought it had to be done! Thoroughly enjoyed but was glad we wore proper hiking footwear especially the final part to the top! Truly epic views across the lands for far and wide as you can tell! Definitely a feat worth doing. Here is the journey up in photos!

Went up to Arthur's Seat at 8 or 9 in the morning and although there were already plenty of people, there was a noticeable increase of visitors about an hour later. It is a steep climb, depending on what path you take up there. I walked the very rocky path up, which was definitely a challenge, before learning about the alternatives. The view of Edinburgh is unparalleled from this vantage point and is absolutely worth the every effort. Will not forget this any time soon.

People gather on its peak to gaze far into the distance. Walking along paths carved by thoughtful Victorians, this local mountain is a platform for many and a milestone for all. A remarkable wonder of nature under our feet ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Absolutely perfect blue skies but fairly high winds when we made the climb in mid October - we were quite nearly blown off the top and I was hanging on to the marker on the summit for dear life. A note that the route starting near the Palace of Holyroodhouse is one of the hardest and the easiest route starts from the other side of the hill.

The hike up to Arthur's seat was not too exhausting and relatively quick if you took the steeper route which takes round about 20-30 minutes or on one of the other paths which are less steep but take a little over 50 minutes to go up. The view up top however is definitely worth the wait as it's incredible and inspiring. You don't even need to go all the way to the top as there are plenty of midpoints on each path meaning it's a great place to go on for your Saturday/Sunday walk. 5โญ

Beautiful site to view Edinburgh city. There are few ways to climb up. Make sure you find the right path to do. We didnโ€™t do much homework so ended up taking the hard way. But in the end, it was well worth the climb though. Stunning!!!

Quite a steep ascent, a few large steps and scrambling once you're near the summit. I personally wouldn't recommend for young children but did see a few children going up. The view from the top is sensational. It was sunny, a light breeze and just breathtaking. A must do when in Edinburgh.

Always wanted to climb up here and a gloriously clear April day was the perfect opportunity to get a gorgeous aerial view of Edinburgh. From the start near Holyrood House, we walked along the right hill first (a much less busy path which gave a lovely view over Edinburgh) which then meant we had to descend and then climb up again. However it did mean the route we took was a lot less busy. Lots of dogs and children. The terrain is mostly grassy and stony. Only the top section is rocky and requires you to be careful with you steps. The views of the sea, Edinburgh and beyond are absolutely worth the ascent! It is about 1 and half hours to get up and down.

It was a fantastic walk up to the top, we went the step stair climb up which was hard work but there is a more easy option if you want. Great way to see the city and give a different perspective on the old layout. Recommend if the weather is nice and you want to get out.

Cracking views from the top. Well almost the top unfortunately we went when it was icy and just wasn't worth the risk as it was too slippy. Definitely recommend walking up just make sure you have the correct footwear/ walking gear for the conditions.

When the several footpaths and hill steps are open, there are many routes we can take to walk to the top, or whatever height we may like to suit the weather or suit our energy level and fitness. But recently (in terms of the date of this comment), there have been path-works in progress to repair and imotive the many hill paths and steps to improve public safety when enjoying the paths and climbs which has required the park to temporarily close many hill paths and steps to be closed to the public. So I'm rating my stars based on the current situation from my walk to the top with my dog this morning. When all paths are re-opened the choices and the joy can only get better and better.

We got really lucky with the weather on April 25,2023. Arthurโ€™s seat provides sweeping views of Edinburgh. You can do this hike wearing trainers but Iโ€™d recommend hiking shoes if you have them. Plan for about an hour or so to enjoy it. Nice spots for a little picnic to plan out where to go next. We decided on Cramond Causeway, which you can see from Arthurโ€™s seat. Also bring your spyglass or binoculars if you have them.

Arthur's Seat is the highest peak in the group of hills that dominate Edinburgh's landscape. One of the most beautiful places in Edinburgh. Despite the climb, you can see all the points of the city and take great photos. It's very worth the effort. When visiting Edinburgh, be sure to climb Arthur's Seat and enjoy views of the city from the top of the hill. It's incredible. I recommend Arthur's Seat for people who like walking and trekking. If it's not your thing, dismiss it

Panoramic view on the whole Edinburgh and surroundings. Quite easy path, during the rain could be slippery. If you are not sure if you want to go, you should. Approx 1 hour to reach the summit from the parliament (including stops for the st Margaretโ€™s loch, st Anthonyโ€™s chapel and other views)
