The staff are excellent. The facility is not. Steak was good, pizza was not. Shower leaked and flooded the bathroom. Could not find the switch for the main room light and one bedside lamp did not work. Room was clean and bed was comfortable enough to get a good nights rest. I would probably not stay here again.

Typical American style motel with clean and comfortable rooms. It's a good option for a halfway house as is Beaufort West in general. The staff are friendly. The facilities are OK for a stop over location. We used the pool to cool down. To use the braai there are braai packs in sale.

The shower leaked and I strongly disliked the pizza. Awesome service and well kept grounds.

While the room was lovely and the yard for dogs amazing, the experience wasn't too great. If there is loadshedding no water and when it comes back no hot water for a while. Plus dinner and bar bill paid separately and the room too which is inconvenient esp if paying by card. On the plus side is close to main road and burgers wee amazing!

Rooms although a bit small, we're spotlessly clean. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding... compliments to their Chef! Reception and staff were very helpful and polite. Highly recommended for an overnight stay πŸ‘Œ πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ˜Ž

Best place by far to stay over on your way to or from Cape Town. They are loadshedding ready with a generator on site . The staff members are friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and tidy and the restaurant made fantastic food. Even though you are so close to the road you cannot hear anything.

Dirty Linen, generator right outside our window, no lights during loadshedding, stained pillows and no pillow cases on some of the pillows. Disgusting. Should be classified as a one star truck stop

Ideal for an overnight stay on a long trip. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The restaurant offers a great dinner and breakfast menu.

Very clean. Great bedding. Great shower. Only criticism would be to up their game at the restaurant. Food is not good and clean the light fittings full of bugs. Otherwise lovely place to overnight. Small jobs to fix around the room but rome was not built in one day. Compared to the bad reviews i feel the complete opposite. Well done guys. Will be back

Rudest manager and outright Worst experience of ANY Business I have ever encountered. And I am Get to see a lot of businesses as a consultant. I am disgusted that they actually got a rating. Not even to mention three stars. Looking at other comments of Racism and taking in account our own experience. This is Shocking. We stopped there for Lunch, as they advertised that they have a restaurant. As we were waiting in the restaurant area to be seated, my wife, and mother of two, so long went to the bathroom. The manager, very rudely, told us that if we were not guests staying over , we should leave and my wife (already in the bathroom) should get out as we are not welcome to use the facilities. Treated us like dogs, and all we wanted was to join in on lunch and was happy to leave since they do not offer lunch /restaurant services to the public. I felt sorry for my wife and ashamed that my kids needed to see and experience this from a local business. If you need to choose where to spend your money, there are many more people deserving to actually give you a tourist experience. Don't be fooled by the stars Read the comments Its the type of establishment that makes you feel ashamed of being South African. Truly a disgrace.

This is exactly what you need when you're staying over on a trip between Cape Town and Gauteng or further. Our family of 4 stayed over in an economy room at R1200 for all of us. Had a surprisingly delicious dinner in the restaurant of burgers, Schnitzel, onion rings (divine) and salad and chips. The barman comes to your table to take drinks orders, regularly checks up to see if all is in order, the staff is super friendly and so helpful. The reception is open 24 hours.

We paid extra to upgrade to a room with wifi, aircon and TV. The aircon, heater in the lounge and kettle was broken. The wifi did not work AT ALL. The receptionist kept giving excuses that was not valid.

Very noisy and we had no electricity for 4 hours in 47Β°C with no aircon or fan. Power came on fir 1 hour then had loadsheading. The generator was not working. Got no rest

Yes, it’s an old motel but when you consider how many travellers have stayed here over the years or seen it from the road, its reputation precedes it. I recently stayed here again after a 40-year gap and was delighted by the friendliness of the staff, the clean Karoo air and the surprisingly good restaurant. The rooms are basic but clean and very good value for the price. I won’t be around in another 40 years, but Wagon Wheel surely will be.

Open 24 hours so guests coming and going at all times, no real rest. Bed was great, shower was great, but nowhere to put/hang clothes in the economy room. Interesting pricing for any 'extras'.

The place is nothing like what the pictures depics it to be. My driver was given room 28. He had a sleepless night due to the dusty smelly room and bedding. The bathroom was not clean at all. He refused to bath there the next morning and left. It's the worst that he has seen and he has been to many lodges. We complained to the staff, only to be told that they only work there. We must complain to the owner. But we don't have the owners details

Unfortunately you pay for WiFi as part of the service and when it doesn’t allow you on. Saying incorrect password you get zero help or service when you phone for assistance. So they could definitely take that off the services offered.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were adequate, food was average, but expensive. What we appreciated the least was being woken up by roosters crowing at 04:30!

Worst place ever, nothing like the pictures. No real secure parking. Service very bad. Place doesn't cater for vegetarians or anything remote for those not having pork. I stayed for 1 night, had to take cold showers due to no hot water for the entire stay, wifi dont work. Dunno about a generator as i was in the dark for more than 4 hours due to loadshedding. Bed was the worst, matress needs replacing.Dunno why this place is even a 3 star...more like a 1 star if anything.

The food was okay. Room got 6 single beds, good for family. Toilet was fine. Restaurant is beautiful and clean.

The service at the restaurant was excellent and so was the food. Our accommodation (semi self catering) was not nearly the standard as per their website and therefore very disappointing.

Nice stay-over for a trip to cape town...love the athmosfeer at the resturaunt and the food

It's so upsetting and inconveniencing that the guests were not informed about the fact the town won't be having electricity for the entire Sunday (12/12/21) and as a result there will also be no water. When i went to enquire about this at the receiption the lady there mentioned that they did not know but the cleaning staff mentioned that its well known information as this was communicated to the locals. The lack of honest communication with your guests in order to secure bookings is a BIG NO for me!

I always make this my stop over place when traveling the CPT - JHB and return route. Staff very welcoming and obliging with a smile. Reasonable overnight rates. Rooms always spotless, with kettle and coffee/tea after a long trip, to unwind. Have not had the pleasure of a longer stay, but all amenities look great. Would and have recommended.

My husband and two of our employees stayed for two nights. The reception and staff was very friendly. The rooms however are outdated. There's no TV. The cupboard has an old smell, kept it closed , didn't put our clothes in there . We could hear people walk up and down and talking all night,at least until 12am. Even when they're talking,it's real loud. When the people in the room next door uses the bathroom,we hear the door opening and noise as they're moving around. Each time someone entered or left their room, on both sides of us, we heard them put in the key, lock open and open or close the door. So clearly as if they're in our room . We were told WiFi does not reach where we were staying. We had very little sleep, 4 to 5hrs. I will not refer this place to anyone nor will I be returning.

Service is good but the room doors requires attention as they are very noisy in a sense that guests from other rooms arriving later in the evening causes a disturbance by slamming doors. Suggest that a keep silent sign be put in each room to avoid disturbance to other guest.

The worst place ever stayed . Feels like the beds have bed bugs crawling all over you . The noise was horrible. Stayed in room 53A . Would never suggest this place . Bath room lights flashing . Checked in at 10:30 out by 12 .00

An old historical oasis in the middle of the Central Karoo. Popular place where business , technical and entrepreneurs from all works of life and provinces usually prefer as home away from home.

The rooms were clean. No place to sit inside, just 1 chair inside a 5 sleeper unit. No microwave or fridge. Beds are comfortable. Overall good but shower not great. Little overpriced

Got here about 4am and requested a later checkout which they limited it from 10am to 12am. But from 10am I was getting knocks on the door by the housekeeper to checkout at 10. We only had about 3 hours sleep before the harassment by the shift manager began from 10am on the ph. there was no Comms btw the shift managers abou the late checkout Also the entire outside area was flooded with water we couldn't get into the car without getting wet. The toilet kept running (water wastage) in a town hat can ill afford to waste water. Very very disappointed. Will never come back to wagon wheels. Your service from the front desk is very very bad

Great food, really great food; there's room for improvement for lunch packs, but dinner and breakfast are really really good. Regarding the rooms, it all depends on what kind of a suit you get. Economy rooms, you get what you pay for, Standard rooms are decent and luxury rooms are also really decent for a 3 star establishment

  • 1/5 Schalk W. 1 year ago on Google
To start with I was double booked. When I arrived at the room there was a car already. Then I was given another room it smelled like a decomposing body was in there. The third room I was given had no door on the toilet. I payed less per night in Mosselbay with a sea view and three bedrooms

Enjoyed this overnight stay. Bar restaurant service was not up to scratch but in all fairness it was extremely busy. Recommended.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I was quite nervous. Per call I spoke with Daphne and Amanda. Their manner and tone was easy friendly and professional. My experience at the Donkin was wonderful the room I was in is self-catering and it even had a hairdryer two point plugs installed incase you forgot yours free wifi and warm water...
