Best Satay 7 & 8 (Lau Pa Sat)

Restaurant Satay restaurant

🫤 The stall is definitely over hyped. And the most amazing thing is that the satay sucks and staff are rude. I can deal with good food and poor service, but not both. Saving grace is the prawn was decent. The week before we tried the last stall closest to Shenton way,, it was so much better! People often mention satay, Satay, prawn, chicken, good, queue, nice, sauce, beef, stall,

You can’t go wrong if you choose stalls 7&8- the satay is delicious. Get there before 7pm if you want to sit in the street area. These stalls are halal so no pork is served, but the chicken, beef, and mutton will satisfy you for sure. Beef and chicken shown in my picture. You can’t beat this environment on a weekday evening after work.

Total price of set A 28SGD The owner is super nice and kind. All of the abg and kakak are super friendly. Satay tastes nice, the prawn satay is so good. The satay sauce is also very nice. Overrated? Not really. The service, the food, it just make the overall memorable.

I ordered the beef, chicken and prawn satay. It was a 20 minute wait on a weekday evening. Good satay. The prawns were already deshell-ed too so it was convenient to eat.

Love the experience of eating at tables set up on a closed street. They were open earlier than the scheduled likely because it was a public holiday. Satay of course took time to be grilled. Queue was long here and no other queue at the other stalls.

Mainly tourist people. Bought Satay and prawn from stall Satay 8. They sell in meal set which means minimum spend is required. Their foods are fresh and tasty. Would definitely go back😉 Be sure to reach early. U want to “Chop” your seat because it can be crowded.

Great satay better than I expected! Beef was a bit too sweet to me that didn’t really taste the meat itself I guess they marinated a bit. But definitely recommend the prawn! 🍤 the texture was still quite tender after grilling! Average wait 30-40mins for the dish but it’s worth it if you weren’t that hungry

Satay is not bad, 4 stars as quite a number of sticks was quite burnt till black. The prawns are nice, ordered the basic Set $28. However will be better if they could give more onion and cucumbers. Atmosphere 1 stars, the tables are dirty maybe due to not much cleaners to clean. The other stalls are touting and pushing the menus into our faces blocking us which is quite annoying even though the sign states no touting...

Really great flavors of the sauce and the chicken and beef/mutton satay. We went there very early and got to order first, so we didn’t have any trouble. Might be chaotic and very hot at night and tends to have very long queue. Other than that our experience in Lau Pa Sat and Satay Street was fun! Follow @loveytries on Tiktok for more.

Satay Street is an experience altogether. It would be crowded and hot, and I was a sweaty mess at the end of the evening. But I was curious about the satays, so I went with what locals consider to be the best stall. We went with the traditional fare of shrimp, chicken and mutton satays. The satays were on the sweet note, with lemongrass and cumin flavours. When eaten fresh on site, the meats were succulent and springy. The shrimp satays required more effort to deshell, but it was worth the messy affairs. I wasn't fond of the peanut dipping sauce as I felt it was too watery and disruptive to the rest of the flavours, but experience may vary. The opinion above was when the satays were eaten on site. When I brought some to my hotel for my family, my rating would drop like a rock. The satays remained cooking even after they got off the hot coals and throughout my short trip home. When we ate at the hotel, the shrimp satays were woefully overcooked, and the other meats were less succulent. Maybe due to the rush, the satays were improperly packaged, as the juices spilled all over the plastic bag, and we had to deal with a sticky mess when opening. I know it would be hot, humid, and crowded, but if you want the best experience, eat at the Satay Street and enjoy the food at its best.

This satay venue seems to be quite a popular touristy destination. I wouldn't call it a trap, because the food and roasted meats are really good quality and taste nice, although do expect to queue and pay 1.5-2 times more than at a neighbourhood hawker centre. The atmosphere is very reminiscent of a beer garden one during an Octoberfest celebration. I would say it is immensely helpful to bring at least one companion, such that you could split up and have one queue and the other find and chope (reserve) a table. Come here if you don't mind crowds and less spicy sauces. If you are in Singapore for only a couple of days, then look no further.

The people are nice. The eating environment is nice. That's all. Satay are not nice at all. All seems to be rushing to give to all those queueing customers. The prawns are even worst! Stall 3 and 4 is so much so much better than them! Do not follow blindly by the travel guides and eat at this place.

Famous satay at La Pau Sat, offers only a few type of meet from Chicken, Beef, Mutton and Prawn. Satay is well cooked and delicious, sauce is also nice. Recommend to visit around late evening for less queue, and sometime restaurant mess up the queue, please be caution.

Satay sticks have been getting smaller after COVID because of meat price hike probably especially stalls at Satay by the Bay. But, this stall 7 at Lau Pa Sat still have decent amount of meat at each stick. The prawn is of decent size and fresh. We tried Set A with S$28 which consists of 10 sticks of chicken, 10 sticks of mutton and 6 sticks of prawn. I especially love the way the peel the skin of prawn body without removing the head for easy eating.

I got there around 7 and ordered set A. You need to speak to the staff to make an order then you will be handed out with order sheet with time to collect your order. I was told to collect my order at 7.30pm. After 30 mins, the road closed and became full of people and tables. Waiting is a must, but is worth for the food and the atmosphere if you enjoy.

Amazing experience with the authentic satay flavour and fabulous fun texture of the chicken meat. The peanut sauce is a little spicy and taste great too. Would return again because of the freshness of food. Waited for it for 15 mins, when you are the first few in the queue. Love it!

24 Dec 2023 - dinner at 7.30pm Definitely not the "Best Satay".... It's below average at best. Chicken satay is tender enough, but seasoning mainly just tastes sweet - not much taste of other spices, and doesn't have the crisp grilled outer layer I'm expecting from a good chicken satay, and very greasy, not hot/warm enough considering it's freshly made also. The satay sauce lacks flavour, don't know what's the point of giving the sauce. Edible but better places to spend your money at, plus they take a long time to cook cos of all the people buying from them, thinking they're "the best". Will definitely avoid next time.

I searched the information about the food of Singapore for a dinner and a writer in some website told us to have a dinner like a street food here. This set is 28 SGD, it’s able to eat for a few people, it’s okay because don’t forget the restaurant is in a town. For the taste of grilled and sauce, for my opinion it’s sweet a bit (I am foreigner). Overall is quite nice! No need to wait for long time.

Spontaneously ordered from the stand no 8. If im not mistaken we order 10 beef, 10 chicken, and 5 prawn. The beef and chicken were so good. While the prawn, i guess its still undercooked. The peanut sauce is bit sweet and hot. About the sitting place, it was very full until the waiter helped us to get the seat in front of the bbq area, its not near as you think. Its still breatheable hahaha. The queue is easy cause the waiter is very helpfull.

Satay was good but had an unpleasant experience dealing with the staff who took orders. I wouldn't join the long queue. Would give stall 3 a try next time. I really didn't enjoy the different sellers trying so hard to get your business. I wonder if tourists know they can just order a minimum of 10 sticks instead of the set menu they keep shoving into customers' hands.

Best stall for satay! Prawn and chicken are my favorite. The beef can be a bit tough for some people's standards. Ask for prawn without shell if you want to get your hands less messy! Ever since they reopened post-COVID, people queue up for tables so recommend getting there before 7pm. You can pre-order before the street closes.

Order SET A - 28 SGD Prawn - It's ok ⭐️⭐️ Beef - Quite sweet (But I love it, because I love sweet) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Chicken - The best ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I'm not sure is it good or not. Because It's my first time here. I arrive around 5.30pm in saturday and receive first queue. Wait for 20-30 minutes. I come from Thailand. I think taste is the same with my country's Satay (Pork Satay). But Satay in my country no need to waiting. You can take it in 3-5 minutes.

Be prepared for a really long wait on weekends! The food was good, sauce was nice too. We visited on a weekend, and you know this place is good since the line extended across the road and seating place. The line took about 45 minutes to get through, and the food took another 45 minutes to an hour (which they do warn you about) Was it worth a nearly two hour wait? I’m not sure, but they are better than another stall we tried nearby

Quite tasty but sadly over cooked. A quarter of it was charred. As a Singaporean I felt ashamed by serving this to my foreign friends and even told them that is “Singaporean” standard now.

Pretty good satay! I liked the chicken and prawn. Beef was ok. For the price of $28SGD you get 10 chicken, 10 beef and 6 prawn skewers. Which to be honest coming from Australia that’s definitely a good price!

Would Return, would recommend. A whole street of satay skewers and charcoal - you can't go wrong. I honestly just chose this because they had the largest charcoal pit and all of them had the same prices and skewers. The skewers are small - even though 10 skewers sound like a lot, they're practically 1-biters. Pair this up with beer from inside and you have yourself a fantastic night. The actual satay sauce was amazing and the best I've had - sweet, salty and umami. Lots of peanuts. Expect $10 - $25pp (inc beer). Cash Only

Famous satay with long queue. You pay then collect your satay. If you did ordered prawn then you collect satay already then walk over to the table beside to collect prawns.

Ordered the smallest set $28 on a weeknight evening. Loved the prawn and chicken skewer. The beef got cold too fast and the meat became tough to bite. Overall it’s great.

We asked for the B menu for 3 people (44$ for 30 meat satay and 10 shrimp satay). Very good!!! The shrimps were amazing. We were 3 people and maybe it wasnt enough for us, we needed an extra ice cream (we bought in 7-11hahaa) Recomended, really good!!
