Their sponsored adds on Instagram caught my attention, as who doesn’t love a good taco washed down with a few coronas and margaritas. After being in lockdown for so long, we organised a babysitter to try out this place. Was welcomed at the door by a friendly gentleman and told to wait while I table was still being occupied. Ordered the guacamole and corn chips - guacamole was basically lumpy avocado with no flavour at all. Salsa was also very tasteless and didn’t seem fresh. We also ordered the the house made corn + flour tacos with Beef Rib, spit roast pork and chicken. Tacos were tasteless and not very authentic. Fillings were good and tasteful. There’s plenty of drink options on the menu and not much food options which is fine. Food was quick to come to our tables but did have to wait a bit for the guacamole and corn chips which seemed strange.

Sub-par food from a limited menu. We had the guacamole (average), and tried the pork/beef/chicken/maize tacos (all disappointing). The staff were lovely and the service was fast.

Heard about Loquita in the HerCanberra newsletter and thought we’d give it a try as they were new and we love Mexican. So glad we did! It had great food, friendly service, affordable and most of all it was a fun dining experience! We were a family of 4 with teenagers. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was really great with a mix of tall tables with stools, and some standard height tables with ottomans. We booked our table using Open Table and went early on a Saturday night at 5pm. There was upbeat music playing quite loud and the menu was a bit limited in choice (we ordered about half of what was available). Guacamole with house corn chips (amazing), Sweet corn (pictured), quesadillas, and 4 types of tacos (sweet corn taco pictured). It was fresh and flavoursome and we really enjoyed it. To drink we had the Mexi-cola and the Cactus juice and they were unique and delicious. The whole meal was $94 including an alcoholic apple cider. The staff were lovely, served quickly and we finished in 1hr. There was a queue building of people ordering, guess some would be taking away to the many apartments in the city these days. We had a lovely evening and wish them all the best with their new venture. We will be back!

Incredibly slow service, took 45 mins to bring out chips and guac and at least another 20 for a taco. Had to line up for over 20 minutes to get a drink. The food was good, but nothing particularly special. Probably wouldn't go back.

Beautiful little place in a city area. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have lots of options for drinks. Not many taco option and the food we ordered had left much to desire. The meat on the tacos had no flavour and the hot sauces they have are just tomato purée ( I guess as they were same taste ) The venue could do with a deep clean as all the tables we saw were either dirty or hadn’t been cleaned in a while, we did ask if they could clean it and no one ever came. Food also took 50min on average for two lots. Only positive thing for me was the margaritas but that’s about it.

Incredibly slow service. It took us at least 25 minute to order a drink and food at the bar. It was another 45 minutes to get my chips and guacamole. The chips were stale and when I returned them to the bar I didn’t get an apology. He then returned with the same stale chips! After an hour my friends still didn’t get their food and they had to reorder which was another twenty minutes wait time. Very disappointing and I won’t be back.

What Canberra has been missing! We went to Loquita on Saturday night. There was a group of four of us and we were there at peak time for food and drinks. I don't usually drink tequila but I had heard about the El Coco and wow! I ended up having several. Then moved on to the frozen margaritas. So delicious and I can't wait to be back there in summer sipping those in the sun! We had one pregnant friend in the group and she drank the "cactus juice" all night and said it was delicious! Food wise - there was a slight line up to order food but once you ordered the food came out quickly and to be fair it is a bar (not a restaurant) and it was their second night of operating so have to give them time to nail everything. The guac is up there with the best I have had - we ended up ordering a second serve. We also ordered two lots of the chorizo because it was so delicious. We also tried the fish, beef and pork tacos. Amazing! I've been flying to other cities to experience bars/food/drinks like this and now we don't need to. The fit out has you feeling like you've escaped Canberra for the night. Canberra was screaming out not just for decent mexican but this kind of vibe and you guys listened and delivered!

Delicious tacos, chips, salsa and gauc. Food is pricey but very tasty. The margaritas start at $16 for frozen and $19 for shaken, which seemed steep but was actually decent value on reflection of how strong they were!

It's not the best. Not the worst. It all feels a little bit clumsy. The food was okay, as were the drinks, but it feels like it's trying to be a bit refined than it is. Food took ages to get to our table and the drinks were so small for the price. Nothing special, probably won't be back. Staff weren't wearing masks correctly either, like come on, there's a pandemic on.

Hello, my name's Paulo and I'm a brazilian navy captain. I had too many experiences in different countries. So, I would like to say that at the Loquita bar the drinks are amazing (the margaritas are delicious) and the service is special. Mr Marcus is very polite and attentive. I recommend the place a lot.

Place: nothing Mexican taqueria about it, is just a bar (formerly honky tonks) Music: too loud Rap music, basically just to seat, eat and leave, not able to have a conversation Drinks: Miniature Margaritas for the price, tasty but expensive for that amount, Draft Beers charged as schooner price for midi size, I asked for Mezcal Reposado and did not have it neither Negra Modelo Beer (really?) Food: Flour Tortillas with tasty fillings, tried the Birria, Pastor (good attempt) and Fish no complaints there, Guacamole: Pricey your rather smashed your own avo and chop your own tomatoes, onions and get your own chips you may save at least 10 dollars and have a good chat at your own place. The place must be re-named Loquita Bar, with tacos for snacks, there is not such thing as Tequila/Mezcal since the menu offers a few cocktails and offer is limited. place is not inviting and ordinary and with the drinks is evident someone is skimming off the top in both cocktails and draft beers. by the way if it happen that you go and have tacos, look how many people approach the bar with their hands covered in taco sauce asking for a napkin (no napkins when you serve food that is to be eaten with your hands!) two margaritas and box of corn chips $50

had a dinner for my friend’s 21st last night and it could not have gone any better! The staff there were amazing, especially May, who had helped me surprise the birthday girl with the cake and gift that I had passed to her earlier in the day that was brought out during our dinner! she made sure everything went smoothly and made amazing shots for us which really made our night, would 100% recommend Loquita for birthday celebrations or even just a chill dinner there because the tacos were class as well:)

Such an amazing night, the tacos the drinks and the service. A man with kind eyes and a luscious smile served us, I believe his name was Michael. Would recommend being served by him made my night, unforgettable. Will be going back.

This place is amazing! The staff, the music, the food and the Margaritas are the best. Yogi made my first night in Canberra so different. He knows how to make the best margaritas

True dedication to good service, Yogi was the the kindest person I’ve encountered tonight. Genuinely making sure I had a good night and made it home safe. 110% best service I’ve received all night would recommend this bar anytime.

Max was the best bartender i have experienced yet! He looked after me and my friends like we were his own and treated us with more than the deserved respect. Loquita is a return spot due to Max alone.

We have been here twice now and both times the service was exceptional! The food, drinks and atmosphere are all great and worth coming for, but it's the staff that will keep us coming back. The last visit four of us went out with our two toddlers (maybe not always the most welcome dinner guests places) but the staff were wonderful, they went above and beyond to give us a great night. At one point in the night after we had ordered margaritas for all the adults the bartender came over and surprised the girls with their own special drinks! This is a great spot that deserves to stick around :)

So great to have a late night venue in Garema place that is fun and funky again! Great cocktails, pumping music and really friendly staff. Have been there the last two weekends and will definitely go back. Ask Rob the bar manager to make you a cocktail - if you’re lucky he might even do the flame show. The DJ was fun and danced with us and Yogi even remembered my name the second time I came back. Might try going in earlier for food next weekend.

Amazing margaritas that makes you go back for more. The two bartenders were very talkative and friendly. Almost felt like I had been friends with them for a while. Amazing atmosphere and food. Definitely recommend this place 10/10

In the top 2 for the best tacos I’ve ever had (and I can’t decide if they’re one or two because the other contender is no longer open) Amazing tacos, great bar and fantasticly friendly staff. Couldn’t recommend this place more.

Celebrated a friend's birthday there this weekend with a big group and it was an awesome experience. Tacos were the best! service was amazing and they came out super fast - drinks were just as good as the food. The team were great and created a perfect atmosphere. Our group was looked after by a guy named Yogi (sorry for spelling potentially) who was an absolute legend! Kept checking in on us to make sure everything was good. All the stars to Yogi and the team, a great experience to remember - we will be back!

Food was on point, drinks were fresh like a mountain stream. And Yogi was the best server/chef in town, like a majestic salmon dodging grizzly bears.

Great staff!! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, as well as knowledgeable of the food and drinks menus. I was happy to hear they have gluten free options as well. The tacos are super tasty. Take a risk and get a secret taco too! The classic margarita is one of the best in town, Miriam really knows her stuff! Music is great, really nice fun vibe for a night out or after work drinks. Loquita was such a lovely experience. Staff were very attentive, they even shared some extra spicy sauces to sample. Tacos were yum and the drinks were great. The only thing to fault was that everything seemed slightly overpriced. Overall, a great night out

Upon arrival the staff were so lovely and quick to ensure we were seated comfortably. We ordered and the food came out quick, hot and fresh! The team are super lovely and have great culture! Music is great and overall enjoyable!! Would definitely come back!

If you’re looking for the best margaritas in town DEFS head to Loquita. Had the most amazing experience with quick drinks delivery with kind friendly service. Oscar our bartender was amazing and offered to make us the best margarita in town. He definitely delivered. Had such a great time I will be coming all the time for the amazing tacos and drinks. Can’t recommend enough!

Love the margs here! Service is fantastic, Terry served me and was really impressive! Will definitely be back for Friday night drinks every week.
