Really nice coffee. It arrived hot and the order was followed perfectly. We ordered via the QR code making it really easy. I had the overnight oats which were delicious and very filling. My partner has the bacon breakfast bap it gave him options for vegan butter which was perfect as he can't have dairy. The atmosphere was great, the tables were nice and spread out so you felt you had your own space. Good prices and tasty Highly recommended 👌

Great avocado toast!! Also loved their oat flat white - very smooth. The staff are really friendly and it’s a great place to study or get some work done (good wifi, plenty of places to sit).

Good place for a quick coffee break! Classic breakfast dishes and delicious sweet treats. Small portions, great for a morning snack. Vegan and vegetarian options are available. Large space, plenty of different seating. Urban modern interior, office vibe. Perfect space to study and work. Best for solo and couple dates. Satisfactory service. Would be nice to be acknowledged by staff. Order came wrong but got a fast fix. Instagram Links: Coffee Shop @FDNCoffee Reviewed by @cesamargaux

At the time of my visit the air felt really stale and stuffy inside, due to a lack of proper ventilation. The situation is made worse by the lingering smell of bacon coming from the improvised 'kitchen' in the middle of the café. Our table was sticky and dirty, which in my opinion is unacceptable in times like these. The coffee is good though, but the place overall is quite a disappointment!

I don't get why my flat white had a froth. But nice coffee however mellow strength and body. I'd love them to have more coffee accessories on the side. The foundation Benedict was lovely but my chicken and bacon sandwich was more like a mixture rather then single ingredients layered, might as well make a nice patty and fry it. Lovely staff however I grabbed my coffees from the counter myself since they waited unattended for several minutes. Less coffee hipster vibes, another guy waited several minutes for a coffee on the go. Cool toilet

One star is for coffee and service. I don't know about food as I didn't try. From the beginning no greeting, we didn't know what actually we have to do. To sit down by your own or to wait to be sited. Just standing around 5 minutes with all confusion. After time we needed as for some advice what to do. When I came to order the girl on the till just ignored me and she start talking to her friend 🙁 luckily came a nice guy to rescue me and to take an order from me and his colleague still was blocking the till talking to her friend. Poor me. Sorry but coffee was cold 🥶 and really bad tasted. 👎

Excellent coffee and delicious food. My flat white was made perfectly. The Eggs Royale were exquisite, with perfectly poached eggs, tasty hollandaise, and lovely bread. The addition of the dill and caper oil was a stroke of genius. The banana bread was moist and flavoursome without being too sweet. Definitely one of the top coffee and brunch places in Manchester!

Very nice tasty food. Coffee is very smooth and a lot of flavour. A bit on the expensive side for what we got (but what isn't lately?) but couldn't fault the quality and taste! Smoothies are very nice and are great after a night out. My second visit here and will definitely go back.

Definitely one of my favorite cafes, the food was great and the matcha latte was as good as the food and the service. It gets busy so you need to go early. We ordered the French toast and the mushroom with eggs. I wish if they just clean the tables.

Good value, tasty food with a nice atmosphere. By the looks of it, it’s a very good place to come to study/work as we were the only people that didn’t have laptops out

My favourite coffee shop in NQ. The cakes are amazing, the millionaire shortbread is a must have! The coffee is delicious, the cortado is traditional and they have plenty of vegan options. The coffee slush is an interesting take on a frappe and is worth a try, so long as the machine is working! The staff are friendly and there’s loads of seating haven’t ever not got a table. Bathrooms are nice and clean, will always return here when I don’t fancy trying somewhere new!

The staff are always friendly and accommodating with me, and my group. I'm a vegetarian with a soya allergy, and a friend of mine can't have gluten. Where possible the staff are happy to make changes for our dietary requirements. The staff are always so nice and make me and my group feel welcomed. The coffee is actually all kinds of amazing too. We tried a coffee slushie, and a coffee and tonic.

Absolutely love this place. It can get super busy but it's not hard to see why. Great location within NQ, always a good vibe, helpful staff, all round goodness (oh and Porridge to die for!)

Food was lovely and reasonably priced. When we came in we weren't sure what to do as in if we had to wait to be seated or help ourselves. We walked half way into the building to find someone to ask. So maybe having something to clearly state what to do so we didn't have to stop the young lady from working 😅👍

My first visit to Foundation Coffee House was during my second year at university. I had recently taken up yoga and was attending a vinyasa class across the street. As I left the class, I was greeted by the imposing façade of Sevendale House. At the time, I felt like I was in Brooklyn Heights or another trendy part of NYC. It has enormous ground floor windows and a sort of stoop set into the building. I was in the mood for coffee, so I went inside. And it's been my go-to ever since. Whenever I'm in the Northern Quarter, I know I'll be able to get into Foundation. The décor hints at NQ's industrial past, with exposed pipes and wires in the ceiling. The shop itself is very spacious and homely, with white tiled walls and small tables. The food here is decent. It'll certainly fill the void if you fancy one of their bakes. However, the chief selling points of Foundation are the coffee and the service. The coffee is strong, and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. If food is what you're looking for, it might be worth delving a little further into town. But for a relaxing atmosphere, nowhere compares to Foundation.

The space is really funky. Lots of space to sit with your laptop and get work done. Nice vibes. Nice coffee but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. There was no queue when I went in but I was still waiting to place my order because the two members of staff at the till were chatting to each other. I went in with two friends who had the same issue when placing their order (they were right next to me) and had to wait whilst the two women were chatting. Staff were unapproachable, not even a smile.

Cool, industrial looking coffee place. The coffee is good, but to be honest, the cake are not the best. Still it's a very nice place, nice staff, and it's good for studying. It might be a bit loud when there is a lot of people, because it's all concrete inside.

  • 4/5 Trystan D. 4 years ago on Google
Nice atmosphere with lots of people working away on their laptops or catching up with friends. Bulletproof coffee was tasty. Service was good but could have been better.

  • 5/5 Cheryl S. 5 years ago on Google
A solid coffeehouse with chic industrial decor and, spacious with lots of seats. Good place for work and gatherings, but it can be noisy (which some people may like) as it has a constant crowd. Food and coffee was reasonably priced. Coffee was good, but the iced mocha I requested had lots of undissolved choc bits which wasn't really a bother but weird to drink. Kudos to them for using real chocolate, which understandably solidifies in cold milk. I Guess that's why they didn't have "iced mocha" on the menu. Just a heads up!

You wouldn't know from walking past, but this is a remote worker's paradise. Lots of laptops in here. There aren't as many power outlets as you'd hope, but there are some. Vegetarian and vegan friendly with food until 16:00. Help yourself to free drinking water. Nice atmosphere.

Superb food. Although I ordered for two people somehow it all ended up on one plate??!! My avocado smash with side order of mushrooms came with bacon and extra eggs..my fiancee meal..egg on toast. I regaled what a bargain my food was whilst wondering where Kate's was...in my tummy. Will definitely try again..and order slowly.

  • 3/5 Marc H. 3 years ago on Google
Great coffee but since the kitchen is in the middle as a pop up without good extraction the whole place has a bacon smell. Their cake is good, so I'd go back again. The place is good to work from if you can put up with the smell from the kitchen.

If the food's not toast (as 8/10 times it's delivered burnt) then you can't go wrong here as the coffee's okay and the sweet potato hash is lovely. Just don't ask for chives with your food as you'll receive watercress (this wasn't a fluke it's happened 3 times now)..... I love this place and come often as I work in the offices above the shop, however myself and my colleagues all agree that the service is often very slow which really lets it down. One staff member actually proceeded to make a comment about me once to her colleagues in the kitchen as if I couldn't hear them....

Ordered a vegetarian omelette (having not eaten meat for over ten years). Took a bite and it was full of ham. Got my £7.00 back and a mumbled apology so I guess that makes up for it (?!) To give them the benefit of the doubt If I had been allergic to something then I probably would have received a proper apology.

Lovely place and great atmosphere. However, the place has signed up to 'The Dealer' app so that people can get discounts on food and coffee - but whenever you intend to use the app and redeem the offer, the attitude from the staff is pretty uncomfortable... take yourselves off the app if you don't want people to use it! Has happened several times and not just the once.

Atmosphere and staff are great. The selection of coffee styles is vast and everything's priced very competitively in comparison to the large chains such as Costa. Ordered a flat white, was given a bottle with a wooden spoon in with a number drawn on, sat down and had barely got my jacket and scarf off before it came! Could've been hotter but other people can be more bothered by that than I am. Will be coming again.

Wonderful. Staff is super super friendly and chatty while still being professional. It's all really cheap and filter coffee (Which is a nice Columbian blend) is only £1 before 9.30. I had the porridge and it was amazing and really filling. Plenty of vegan options Cleary marked. Hours are a little odd. Online says open from 7, door says 7.30 walked by at 7.20 and they were open. Atmosphere is really nice. The have big meeting tables which I can see start ups or churches meeting at. Plugs are a bit sparse though. Only thing that would make it better is a couple of big comfy chairs for people who aren't there to work.

Ok coffee. Went in jan 2021. Server was very rude. Coughed into hand and then didn’t wash hands. I wondered whilst waiting around and was aggressively told by her not too when a simple, ‘please would you not wander around’ would have been appropriate. Even the , I think she was selective in how she spoke to me as I was dressed as a professional and don’t look like one to backchat. She then gave a really fake thank you, as if I imposed on her time playing on her phone (caffe was empty when I arrived) I just moved to the area and have been sampling a regular coffee place. Won’t be coming again

They gave us a gorgeous booth to sit in to accommodate our needs and the staff were incredibly attentive. The food was also delicious - I had the breakfast bowl which I’d recommend. I came across this coffee shop early Saturday afternoon! I was visiting the palace theatre and this place is almost literally right behind it! Step inside and the place opens up like a tardis! The service was friendly and for a city centre coffee house the prices were ok! The coffee was nice enough..however I found it on the small side which lessened the value for money offered.

Dropped in for a quick breakfast before getting our train. Ordered Eggs Benedict and coffee. Quick service and plenty of seating. Looked clean and had a gig atmosphere. Nice industrial looking place. The best thing though was the breakfast. Eggs benedict, done to perfection. So tasty with lovely smokey bacon and crispy kale on lightly toasted sourdough bread and a lovely hollandaise. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a breakfast that much. Lovely coffee. Next time I stay in Manchester, I will certainly visit again.

The place looks nice but when you sit and properly look around the place is disappointing. Not on the clean side, the table was sticky and full of stains. When we received our cups, the plate was full of coffee 😵‍💫 not even apologised for that... the plates looked dirty and greasy.

I have never been so welcomed to a business where it genuinely feels like home. I have been coming here for a few years and I can see the constant improvement to accommodate to the rapid growing needs whilst still maintaining a deeper connection to the staff. In building my own business, I would be extremely proud to have a group of staff like the ones here and a service to this standard. If you read this review, trust me. You will thank me later!

Usually when i enter coffee shops i expect the staff to be kind and friendly but this was not the case earlier today. A particular girl who works at this branch was utterly disrespectful and rude. ( I highly doubt this is the sort of individual you would like representing your brand. ) When asked why a simple coffee was taking 20 minutes the two boys working seemed bothered however, there was no apology just a blunt and rude reply from her. I have worked in coffee shops and it does not take this long especially when it was very empty. She was then tasked in bringing the coffee to the table and this lead to her yet again being rude and short with myself and my boyfriend - I am unsure whether she understands what customer service means... perhaps a stuck up university student who only cares about herself? Why has she been hired? All in all, it was ok. Truly nothing special and it is a shame because the other members of staff were nice. My advice.... sack her before the entire brand reputation is ruined.

Coffee is amazing. Here most days, great place to work on weekdays. The banana bread is top tier. Just wish the seats were a little more comfier. P.s. Maria and Dan make the best coffee, had to follow them here from 200°

Sixteen of us walked in, after a very enjoyable Romiley WI walk around the Northern Quarter. We easily found seats, after a bit of reorganisation by us, in this spacious, lively (women owned - apt for us 😉) coffee house. The service was EXCELLENT and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
