This has fast become our favourite cafe in Durham. Tucked away on the edge of Houghall Woods it would be easy to miss this forest walk oasis. It is so worth the short diversion off the main road opposite maiden castle. It has been beautifully refurbished inside and also offers a lovely spacious outside patio area. The food is so fresh and presented with real care. The barista coffee is outstanding. The staff are all so friendly and really welcoming however busy they are. Best of all its dog friendly inside and out! Our only worry is that the prices should be higher to ensure this lovely gem puts down strongroots. Well done to all involved for creating this unique and Lovely addition to the local area.

This is a nice café with tables outside close by the river. Order at the counter from the menu or the specials' board. Food is very good quality and arrives quickly, the staff are very professional, and the coffee is good too. We went for a late Sunday breakfast - there is no cut-off time for a cooked breakfast here so that's good to know. I was more than a little envious when I saw what other customers had ordered so I will definitely come back again.

Visited after a lovely walk in the area. What a treat ! It was busy but plenty of tables , staff were quick and efficient so didn't wait long to be served. Girls at the order point were really friendly making conversation while i waited.Spoilt for choice with all the delicious looking cakes and scones and we weren't disappointed with our choice, we will definitely be back to try some more. Lovely place.

A lovely tearooms with a relaxing and tranquil setting. Service was quick, food and drinks were delicious. I like that the waitress asked if I wanted chocolate on my cappuccino, most places don't ask. I'll definitely be back for cake as they looked lovely!

Not from the local area so we were looking for a dog friendly cafe. They have a big menu but we just wanted a breakfast and it didn’t disappoint. Good portion size and tasty as well. Husband said his coffee was good. The four of us couldn’t complain. It was toasty warm inside too!

Limited choice left from the menu but the food was nice. Service a little slow, had to wait 30 mins for soup & scone and a toasty

I’ve just thrown up £12 of off colour (way past it’s sell by date) clotted cream and tea… Service was nice, but the food was atrocious. Never again.

First time trying this place out and will definitely be back. We received a warm and friendly welcome, polite and patient service. My friend and I had paninis, tea and biscoff cheesecake, which was all delicious and they took a lot of care of the presentation, especially the cakes. Highly recommend.

OMG this place is spectacular. Such a nice vibe. The cafe has a lovely cake supply! Not much for vegetarians but great hot chocolate! Staff were great, super friendly, made us feel very welcome on a cold Thursday afternoon.

The food is delicious and portions generous. It's a lovely, clean cafe with lots of seating outside so you can treat yourself after a nice dog walk. Staff are lovely.

Nice cafe good coffee and cakes wish they would serve some onion bhaji or samosas from Indian restaurant adjoining

Absolutely terrible in every way, beef sandwich about as low quality as possible. Not sure what the gravy was but definitely wasn't something I recognised.

Use this place at least once a week and not been disappointed yet. Excellent coffee! Love the bacon rolls and scones. Lovely outdoor seating area provides an alternative to sitting indoors.

These guys are doing take out and it was really busy. We went on a freezing day. The menu was a little limited and I thought, quite expensive. A bacon sandwich (2slices of bacon in sourdough bread slices) was £3:50. Could have done with some soup on the menu. The coffee was tiny. Hot choc was nice.

Miserable weather but it’s important to support local businesses. Gorgeous bacon and sausage sandwiches, hazelnut latte was beautiful and the chocolate brownie was eaten at home warmed up! Sublime. Staff were friendly and welcoming and Alan the cat was nearby to keep me entertained whilst my butties were prepared. Best cafe around for miles

Absolutely love it here. A real hidden gem! Perfect for a walk in the woods followed by home made cakes, a wide variety of scones, coffee, amazing hot chocolate.... looking forward to trying the burgers too! Very dog friendly.

👍👍 Excellent little cafe tucked away. You access it via narrow alleyways, so it's easy to miss. Great bacon rolls, coffee very good, cakes look really attractive. It is self-service ordering, then delivered to your table, (this isn't obvious when you arrive).
