NOT DOG FRIENDLY! Ive been going to Thirsk coffee shop for years now. I have always felt a bit miffed, when dogs are barking and smelling around the tables when I'm trying to eat my food. So many cafes now encourage you to bring your dogs, I just think it is wrong. Especially where people are eating! I have a dog- I never bring him out to cafes or restaurants. I don't know why everyone else does! (Rant over). WELL DONE THIRSK GARDEN CENTRE! I enjoyed my peaceful coffee and vegan biscoff brownie without 4 legged friends. Always great service 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Today I purchased some edging shears which were all priced the same , payed for them at the till and left only to find someone ran after me in the car park and said I couldn’t have them and took them off me !! This is not the case as I had payed for them and left the building !! Absolutely shocking how I was treated as it was not my mistake !! They are the ones at fault I was made to look like a criminal and have never felt so humiliated in all my life ! Not even a sorry ! Won’t ever buy anything again there !

Will never go back to Thirsk Garden Centre they now will not accept dogs in the outside cafe. Not dog friendly, should not sell pet accessories if they do not allow pets. My husband had to sit in the car with his coffee and cake as there were no signs, and nothing on the website to say no dogs. It was too hot to leave the dog in the car so I put all my plants and goods back refused to buy, shredded my loyalty card. Such a shame as it was a lovely run out. If it is about not clearing up after a dog then you could charge a £10 cleanliness deposit and get it back on your way out people would soon clear up or pay up. I would be willing to do this. Anyway rant over will not be seeing you again

What a lot can change in 4 years ! Back then this was a really good cafe good quality food well presented. Just had the worst 2 bacon and tomato sandwiches that you could imagine. Poor quality poorly cooked and badly presented on the plate. You wouldn't think it would be possible in this day and age to do something so simple, so badly. I would spend more time on the food and less extending the building.

We arrived here just as the heavens opened and the resulting deluge flooded both the entrance and exits. The noise from the roof due to the downpour rendered conversation impossible as the staff valiantly toiled to clear the drain gullies outside. The coffee shop is recommended and overall prices in the store are on the north side of reasonable without being extortionate. Ample parking.

Over the years we have often called at the garden centre restaurant. Their roast Sunday lunches were lovely. More recently we have found the menu very restricted. We had ham salad a couple of weeks ago which consisted of a plate of bagged lettuce and three thin slices of ham. Chips extra. Poor value. Doubt if we will call again.

Lovely garden centre the only thing I could fault was I thought they would have section with Christmas food gifts ie jam, chocolate shortbread, cakes chrismissy food things but they had none. There was just some jelly sweet in boxes. I feel they are missing out on a big opportunity as that's what I went for. We were visiting while on a little break.

Well. Updated my review from 4* .. to 1. From a good browse about a truly lovely store with immaculate toilets, to a bit of a faff ordering basic food. Fine. To Leo's awkward table greeting and YouTuber level of fake enthusiasm and forced conversation... To being rounded on in the car park.. asking if my daughter had taken a soft rabbit because they are missing one. Holy actual *****. No. I can't even describe how downhill that went. Never again. Judged and horrified. We thought they were bringing one out to apologize for the slight disgruntled attitude at the tills.. not to accuse my child of stealing. Opened the door ready to take a thoughtful gift. My expectations were trounced. Well done people.

Great garden centre, itschanged so much since the 80's when it was the tropical fish centre! Lovely selection of gifts, clothes, home and garden. The cafe was bustling with a lovely atmosphere, warm ,cosy and great value for money. Would highly recommend anyone dropping in if they are passing by or visiting Thirsk.

Just stopped to have a breakfast and a first class it was, cooked as it should be, plenty of locals use and support this place buy your dog and animal foods plus local goods for your pets big or small and those things you always wanted but could never find. Great place nice folk.

The food is so amazing. I don't know how they've managed to make a ham and cheese toasted ciabatta taste so good!!. Even though it was busy, it came to your table really quickly. No faults.

A lovely meal in the coffee shop served by friendly and welcoming staff. In particular, Leo provided great customer service - he handled the challenges of an exceptionally busy Saturday with professionalism and consistent good humour. He was keen to ensure customers were well looked after and their custom was appreciated. Top marks to Thirsk Garden Centre for a great customer experience.

Back to try the Sunday lunch. Decided to save room for puds so skipped the starters - mum had the salmon starter for her main but she could have have a smaller portion for any of the main courses if she'd have wished and 2 of our party shared a pudding. Staff are very knowledgeable about the source of their food. All beautifully presented and great service.

Garden centre is fantastic, got 2 Christmas trees and extra and the staff were extremely helpful. However, the coffee shop service is shocking. We have been there on 2 separate occasions just to get 2x Sausage rolls however, for some reason it seems to take them over 20mins to bring out some basic cold food. The woman at the till seems like she doesn’t want to be there at all. I was just left hanging around getting in the way over other customers. The sausage rolls are good but not that good.

Absolutely appalling! Thought the store was lovely to begin with. Firstly the lady on the till in the Cafe clearly didn't want to be there and was quite rude as someone who has worked in the service industry I know it doesn't take much to be polite and decent. The food was okay but not fantastic. The sausage roll was undercooked and had raw pastry on the inside. The latte had poorly steamed milk not terrible but not great. We were then approached by Leo who was "friendly" pinpointed every issue I had in the most awkward way like we had been being watched. To top this all of my partners little girl loves rabbits and we had been trying to decide if she could have one and had decided she couldn't have it as she has way too many at home and felt it would be a wasted purchase. We were then chased down in the car park and accused of taking the rabbit. Feel Absolutely mortified and will never be going back

The plants are excellent and well looked after, a nice variety. Up until now the restaurant was excellent too. Unfortunately today I was most Disappointed. My baked potato was the smallest I have ever seen and the amount of cheese in a very small pot was appalling. The amount of on ham salad had drastically reduced and the chips are now an extra, also the amount of cold slaw was not worth putting on the plate. I understand the cost of living but I came away hungry and would rather the price increased. We quite often stopped off on the way past to grab food. It is doubtful I will bother in future.

Helped by a great member of staff called Trish. Who helped me to find my perfect garden fairy lights! Wonderful personal service. Coffee in cafe is fab too. Lovely selection of plants.

Just starting to gear up for Christmas when we visited , so a large area set aside for that. Felt a bit weird as although mid October it was scorchio. Some good stuff all the same. Ended up with some stuff for a wreath ...the laughing ghost in the Halloween section was excellent ....oh and bought a loveley pot for our tulips from Amsterdam.

Often pop in, good range of plants, accessories etc. Cafe has always been nice, lots of seating so not too difficult to get a table even at busy times, latest addition to the menu are locally made sausage rolls, had the hog roast flavour and they are gorgeous 😍

The garden centre is having some upgrading so the kitchen is not as good as it is normally, but the menu is not as big as normally so no chips at the moment but it was good so it's some where to go back to as I got a discount card so the things I bought where't as expensive as there are normally thank you Michele

Too early to be looking for plants but a good selection of pots, planters, bird tables etc. Food excellent, lovely space to eat. Plenty to browse over plus still hot a EWM.

Well, after I got over just how handsome the coffeeeshop manager is! Ha I know, middle aged woman, but he wasn’t just handsome he was also attentive asking about our experience of the coffee shop, which was ok apart from we didn’t realise we were supposed to wait for our drinks! But all ok in the end😊 parasol a bit ‘risky’ in the windy conditions but the handsome Brazilian, sorted that out too!! Looking forward to trying the new coffee! A whole new meaning for a Brazilian!! Lol

A friend and I were regulars at the Garden Centre. Particularly liked their cheese scones. Hadn't been to the Cafe for a few years until last month. Sadly, I won't be going again. Served by Staff who gave the impression that they weren't that interested. My Bacon sandwich arrived so long after my tea had been drunk that I was about to tell them not to bother. I don't think it was value for money either. Have had better for less elsewhere. Shame, as a lot of money has been spent on the building. Purchased plants recently and the Staff on the Checkout in the gift and garden area are very pleasant and helpful.

We had two coffees and one sandwich with salad the meal was quick but the coffee one was made waiting and going cold whilst the other was being made so by the time you got the coffee it was cold or nearly cold . I had hoped the person making the coffee could hurry up a bit more so that they stayed warm longer . But the garden center was lovely and tidy and the toilet were nice

Staff are lovely. Had an awful experience at the Edinburgh Woollen Mill concession within the garden centre. They reassured me they are totally separate to them and were so apologetic and lovely. Spent my money in the garden centre instead. Lovely cafe and Santas grotto was great. Lovely team of people working there.

What a lovely little gem of a place. We only pulled off the road to calm down a tantrum and stretch our legs but we loved it here. Its a shame it isn't closer to where we live or we'd be regular visitors

We loved going to the coffee shop there with our kids since they stopped doing a decent kids menu which loved the fish fingers they had served on their menu for children, now we taking our custom elsewhere.

Scones were a little too hard, but the concerning thing was what I took two pictures of.....er how many weeks does it take to leave six + loo roll centres?? Or was there an outbreak of tummy problems today that used up the six rolls of loo paper to just give the impression the toilets hadn't been cleaned for weeks ?!

The centre is great well stocked with all your garden needs , the staff very knowledgable, and so helpful and kind, they helped me into my car with very heavy items, and they gave their time to help my granddaughter with her school project and after buying and filling my car for me, i went to the cafe and had a lovely coffee and some great cake. Such a lovely and friendly place to shop.

Unfortunately got there around closing time ..Garden is quite generous, and there are various kinds of plants to choose from. They also have some gardening accessories and cute iron decorations. Prices are alright not too expensive

We popped in for lunch. Plenty of parking and large restaurant. Choice of indoor or outside seating - ideal for this heatwave we're having. Prawn salad and Coronation chicken salad. Comes with coleslaw and fries. Very filling and good value. Add a great cup of tea and two very happy customers.
