Place is still under renovation but it is open to public. You can have a view of various animals and I think they will add more when the renovation works are done. Just need to get your guides with sufficient knowledge of the animals. Location is very strategic in the middle of town.

Honestly I had high expectations of the place given the hype that's going on lately. Visited the location only to realize majority of the animals present were infants. The worry is, most of then seemed Malnourished. The duikers appeared to have sores on the feet; could be signs of infections. Broke my heart to see them that way. Given that the animals are young, I have high hopes for the future of the zoo. But for the zoo to make waves, more animals need to be introduced and the zoo needs to be properly maintained to keep the animals lively and healthy. The location of the zoo is also something else: had to navigate through intense human and vehicular traffic before arriving there; a bit laborious for the ordinary tourist, I must admit. Notwithstanding, the zoo has a lot of promise, good enough reason for people to visit.

I was pleasantly surprised when i went with my family to the Kumasi zoo. They have a lot of animals and it's really big... Bigger than they Accra zoo. The zoo guide was very pleasant and really educated us about the animals.

The Zoo is right in the middle of the city opposite the new Kejetia Market, Komfo Teaching Hospital and sharing a wall with The Kumasi Center for Arts and Culture. It has just few animals, was expecting more. There are tigers 🐅, lions with newborn baby lions 🦁, hyenas, buffalo 🦬, snakes 🐍, some birds 🦢, monkeys 🙉, tortoises, and others. Its an interesting idea for family day out especially during weekends and holidays. Wear comfortable shoes since it’s quiet a walk. There are few benches to sit. The zoo needs some maintenance. Overall it was a great experience

I like the greenery and how serene the atmosphere was. This is right in the center of a huge market but the place is very serene. The only thing is there aren't a lot of different animals and tree species to see.

I enjoyed the Kumasi Zoo! Comparing it to the Accra zoo I would say I like the Kumasi zoo better; it was spacious, green and had more animals. Prices range from 2-10ghc for locals and 5-20ghc for foreigners There’s a small stand you can get water and drinks, I advise you take snacks It wasn’t a guided tour like it is at Accra Zoo. We went around ourselves and it was decent. I think you can ask for a guide. Some cages had the information on the animals, some didn’t. The chimpanzees were definitely the most interesting. They would clap and ask for stuff. I saw them eat a whole lot of human food given by the guest, hope it’s safe or the zoo keepers need to advise against it upon entry. The Baboons cage at the zoo was too small from my perspective and made me sad. Most animals had decent cage sizes. I dunno the more I explore zoos I realise I prefer safaris

The Kumasi Zoological Garden, commonly called Kumasi Zoo was established in 1951 and officially opened in 1957 by the Asanteman Council as part of efforts to conserve nature with the purpose of displaying indigenous wild animals of Ghana in captivity, engage in the breeding of endangered species, offer a sanctuary for orphaned animals, generate revenue, offer a place for relaxation and recreation, and to demonstrate the linkage between wildlife and culture. The Kumasi Zoo is invariably one of the known tourist sites in the Ashanti Region and Ghana at large. It has about 40 different species with individual species numbering over 135. The zoo, located on a 1.5km square area, is between the Kumasi Kejetia Bus Terminal and Kumasi Centre for national culture. The environment at the zoo is refreshing. The chirping birds, roaring chimps, hissing snakes, crowing fowls, swinging monkeys, quacking geese, and above all, grazing donkeys and an elephant painted a colourful setting

If your from Ghana, you may like it, so check it out. As I am an International traveller, this was the smallest and saddest zoo experience ever.

Kumasi Zoo A zoological garden in Kumasi The Kumasi Zoo (Kumasi Zoological Garden) is a zoo located in the heart of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The zoo occupies a 1.5-square-kilometre (370-acre) area between the Kejetia Bus Terminal, the old race course and the Kumasi Centre for National Culture. History The zoo was established in 1951 and officially opened in 1957 by the Asanteman Council to conserve nature and display indigenous wild animals of Ghana. Animal species It has about 40 different species of animals, with individual animals numbering over 135. A notable feature is the thousands of bats that rest on trees in the zoo.

A nice place to visit. It's Ok for me and my group, but we were expecting to see more animals. We hope more renovations could be done. In all it's a great place to visit to go around to watch tamed and untamed animals. You will love it.

Nice place to take the kids for the afternoon. The highlight for me were the bats! Hundreds of them chirping and squeaking in the trees above.

Kumasi Zoo welcomes you with a quick and affordable entry, making it accessible for all. While I was amazed by the diverse range of animals, there's room for improvement to enhance the overall experience. It's more enjoyable with company, as the journey can be a bit dull alone. And for those curious minds, yes, there are lions to see! Overall, it's a cool place offering the joy of encountering various animal species.

Had a great time learning about the different features and temperaments of these amazing animals. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and took us to see every single animal, eventhough we all starting getting tired halfway through..🤣🤣. It costs 10gh for locals and i think 15gh for visitors/foreigners. You can even have the royal python put around your neck for an extra 2gh. These prices I think are very affordable. However try not to feed the animals; it can be dangerous. A great place to learn and have fun with friends and family. Check it out and let me know what you think. 😉😉

The lack of supervision and creativity is totally lacking and evident in this Zoo. It has great potentials to attract visitors yet Management are not perturbed by the gradual dissipation of the Zoo. This Zoo ought to be the go to place for most kids growing up as well as adults yet the opposite is the reality. They did have what looked like Lions, monkeys, snakes, camel, tortoise, among other animals present when I manage to visit there! It is still worth visiting nonetheless so go for it!! Enjoy the experience!

Okay place but in major need of improvements. We paid tickets and on the tickets there was a tour guide, but we and all other visitors were touring without a guide. Some cages were too small for the animals, especially the monkey cages. At a point, there is a cage for a viper and in the cage by it is a squirrel and it can see the viper in the next cage. Some of the chimps looked very sick. And there was a terrible smell especially around the lion cages. But there are a variety of animals to view and they look very well fed. A little investment will be able to transform the zoo

One of the best and big hotel in Techiman. The rooms are very neat and highly profiled one. The price is also affordable but little bit high when compared with the other hotels in the town. Wide area and located on the side of Techiman sunyani road. They have good restaurant and swimming pool also. Special space for programs and ceremonies.

Tasteless food ! The grilled tilapia was almost like sun dried fish with no juice & taste plus a funny smell. The chicken I ordered was super dry and bland. It’s clear it’s a collapsed business and should have noticed when I sat alone as the only patron during a high traffic lunch period. It completely messed my lunch as I was very hungry & looking forward to great food.

I loved the arts and cultural represention at the garden, but.. I just went there to he treated to lunch by my Ghanaian colleagues. Period! Perhaps, next time, I'll make time to visit for the purpose of touring and learning the traditions and systems the Ashantes(something I've only read in history books back in Nigeria).

The place is being renovated. It's not a shiny zoo but it makes a nice outing for an hour an a half if you have small children.

  • 3/5 Stuart T. 2 years ago on Google
Actually has a decent amount of animals, lions, chimpanzees, camels, ostriches etc. Just it's not very well looked after. The staff are very unhelpful and parts of the zoo look unkempt. S tidy up and having more engaged staff would make a huge difference

  • 4/5 Okrah S. 1 year ago on Google
I and my family were very much excited for physically seeing almost all the wild animals we've been watching on television. I recommend you to take your family there so that the children will have the chance to see the baboons, chimpanzees, gorillas, monkeys, lions and lioness, crocodiles, eagle, big snakes and many more wild creatures.

It is the largest Zoo in Ghana under the Ghana Forestry Commission. It has various Animals both Ghanaian based and some that were imported. Animals such us Lions, deer, snakes, eagles, camels, other birds, various species of monkeys and baboons, etc

  • 5/5 Awuah D. 1 year ago on Google
The place was lovely, there were a lot of side attractions aside from going round to see wild animals. One could see the artist doing the face painting as well as the caterers displaying varieties of food.

  • 4/5 Oforiwaa Ama A. 4 months ago on Google
A very interesting place for kids with various animals. Enough to shut my little siblings up on questions on various animals. 4 stars because some animals which were available before are no longer there

  • 4/5 Reagan B. 2 months ago on Google New
It was an awesome experience seeing these animals that constitute nature/creation. I suggest anybody in their free time and/or leisure visit this place to appreciate the variety of animals that exist and also constitute nature.

I love the Kumasi Zoo! There are camels, peacocks, and donkeys walking around freely. Other animals are caged but you still get up close and personal—even with the lions and chimpanzees.
