It has a lot of history and is not as popular as the other forts such as Osu Castle, Elmina and Cape Coast But I found it was quite unique and had a decidedly different character from the other forts.

Very beautiful historic site. A must-visit for anyone coming into Ghana. Chronicles the life and contributions of Ghana's first president Kwame Nkrumah. Indeed these type of men were scarce back then in Africa, and am afraid they are going into extinction today. We must read his, and others stories like Mandela, and be challenged to do more for the greater good!

The landscape of the Memorial Park, presents it as quite serene. There is a wheelchair access area. But the sitting area for eating or snacking must be improved. But a nice place for photographs. Much to learn about Kwame Nkrumah.

For me, I was able to get a feel of where Ghana is coming from through this visit. This is a very good initiative by the Government of Ghana. The place is well kept and easily accessible. Within the Museum, you get to see everything that has got to do with Kwame Nkrumah, from his pictures to his famously worn dresses to his office table, his school locker and so much more. I also love the fact that everything was kept as it was most especially the vandalised statues of Kwame Nkrumah. The garden also provides sitout and picnic opportunities.

Looked interesting, but we couldn't get inside. We only discovered later (on our way out of the village) that we could have arranged a tour from the local tourist info centre as you come into the village. So learn from us

A tour of Fort William makes an interesting contrast to the castles of Elmina and Cape Coast. This fort has been repurposed many times over the years, showing the struggle of a town reclaiming its history. This interesting but less complicated tour feels like it is still evolving. The truth is out there.

Fort William is a fort in Anomabu, Central Region, Ghana, originally known as Anomabo Fort and renamed Fort William in the nineteenth century by its then-commander, Brodie Cruickshank, who added one storey to the main building in the days of King William IV.[1] It was built in 1753 by the British after they thwarted a French attempt to establish a fort at the same place. Two earlier forts had been established at the same site, one in 1640 by the Dutch, another in 1674 (Fort Charles) by the English. Fort Charles was abandoned in the late-seventeenth century. If we are to keep it as part of our cultural heritage, the place needs some serious renovation. It looks abandoned and lacks proper maintainance. It will be difficult to cash in on tourism if nothing is done to give the Fort a serious face-lift.

Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum building in Ghana The Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and memorial park is located in downtown Accra, the capital of Ghana. Quick Facts: Established, Location ... Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum Kwame Nkrumah's grave inside the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial in Accra It is dedicated to the prominent Ghanaian President Kwame Nkrumah. The memorial complex was dedicated in 1992, and is situated on the site of the former British colonial polo grounds in Accra. The mausoleum, designed by Don Arthur, houses the bodies of Kwame Nkrumah and his wife Fathia Nkrumah. The building is meant to represent an upside down sword, which in Akan culture is a symbol of peace. The mausoleum is clad from top to bottom with Italian marble, with a black star at its apex to symbolize unity. The interior boasts marble flooring and a mini mastaba looking marble grave marker, surrounded by river-washed rocks. A skylight at the top in the mausoleum illuminates the grave. The mausoleum is surrounded by water, a symbol of life. A video of the mausoleum can be found here. See also Atta Mills's Mausoleum at Asomdwee Park in Accra, Ghana. There's not a lot i have to say about this fort, our tour wasn't very informative as I'd have liked and i fear the history behind this fort is slowly being lost, it looks important and hasn't worn out too much it's slowly becoming less of mememto of the past. Yh it's not as big as the others but it's these bits of info that adds up. I'd be happy if we could dig up more history behind it.

The John Evans Atta Mills street that leads though Jamestown to the Mausoleum is a traffic prone area. The site itself is quite and serene. There is a garden area that bears many trees planted by several political figures across the world during their visits. Kwame Nkrumas car is also available for viewing on site but cased in a glass chamber where no one is allowed to enter but only view from outside. The tombs of Kwame Nkrumah and the wife are present as well as a Museum where no photography is allowed. Lastly there is a very old vandalised statue of Kwame Nkrumah without a right arm and head. The head sits next to it. History has it that, during a mob attack in the past. The angry protestor kicked it down, causing the damage and split of the statue parts. Which were long lost and found years after.
