Excellent ambience. Location advantage, close to Ashton tram station. Nicely maintained. Good , comfortable seating arrangements. Eyecatching murals and othe decorations. Extremely courteous and helpful staff. Authentic Indian cuisines with original taste available. Be it Punjabi, Gujarati or South Indian, all available. Great taste and affordable pricing. Fine dining is separated from Snacks section. Overall had a pleasant experience.

This was not a business built in a day ! It was built by a hard working family bringing something to the table in Tameside. Amazing food , amazing spices making vegetarian food exciting ! Staff are amazing it has a restaurant & venue room for parties or charity events ! Enjoy the pictures & go your self !

I absolutely loved it. Everything about the experience was just spot on. The décor is great, the service was incredible and the starters were brought out also immediately. Most importantly the food was delicious and as a meat-eater, I didn't miss it at all. But the best was to come when the dessert was served. Between me and my family, we had about 6 different desserts and each one was phenomenal. PS. Order the crunchy okra and thank me later.

One of the better places to eat in the area, not just good for an Indian. Everything is good - the food, the decor, the ambiance, the service - it's a clean sweep of good. It's just missing that final sparkle that lifts a good place to a WOW place. They have an attached deli and their takeaway service is well run. Overall a satisfying experience.

Last visited: July 2023 I've now dined at Lily's a number of times. Quick service and the food is good. I don't normally head to a vegetarian restaurant.... in fact, this is the only vegetarian restaurant I regularly go to.

This place is atrocious. We asked for fresh, hot jalebis and they told us they were making them right now. But they lied to us, they were cold and looked like it was made days ago and smelled horrific. We called them to tell them how we felt and they started shouting at us and denying their mistake. They do not know how to talk to their customers. Their behaviour was disgusting towards us. They also started swearing at us and lying to us. We do not recommend anyone going to this place.

Being vegetarian, it's so lovely to go to a restaurant and to be able to choose absolutely anything from the menu and not just have a choice from a few dishes. So much choice that it took us a little while to make our decisions! But everything was absolutely delicious, especially the samosa chaat and the idli. We were really looking forward to coming here again and it didn't disappoint.

  • 5/5 Paul L. 5 years ago on Google
Fantastic place with authentic superb vegetarian food. They also have plenty of vegan options - just ask! The lady who served us was lovely and very helpful. Ask about the menu as they seem to really want you to enjoy what you order. The Punjabi samosas were the best I've had anywhere. The vegetarian Manchurian was sublime and super tasty. The two curries were also delicious (can't remember the names!). We even took home some sweets from the counter (see pic) as we we're too full and couldn't eat anything else. They are soon to open a more modern and what looks like more of a restaurant style less than a stone's throw away which should hopefully attract even more people to this amazing place than the current cafe style. We will definitely return!

Been coming to Lily’s for years and it’s always been great food and great service. They recently opened a new restaurant and it’s excellent. I loved the decor inside, way better than your average Indian restaurant. They’ve added an ice cream bar inside - they’re winning already! The staff were very organised and service was running smoothly. The menu has added a few extra dishes which is always a bonus. The restaurant is doing very well and seems to be fully booked everyday, so I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. The food was fab, I will always dine here. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat at.

Had a great evening celebrating my partners birthday here. Staff were friendly and attentive but not pushy, didn’t feel rushed at all. Food was amazing! Will definitely be back. Only slight negative is that the toilets could be cleaner.

We had Indian afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco. Everything was delicious. There was also a sign on our table saying there were allergies or intolerances. The staff were masked up and used gloves. The tables are well spread out. We will be going again to tackle the extensive menu which is either vegetarian or vegan. Before we we left the restaurant we called into the sweet shop next door which has a great selection of desserts, biscuits, samosas and bhaji. Very highly recommended.

Disappointing South Indian Fare at Lily's Restaurant Rating: ★★☆☆☆ I recently visited Lily's Restaurant with high hopes for a satisfying South Indian meal. While the starters, including the Gobi Manchurian, Papdi Chat, and Raj Kachori, were delicious and left a good first impression, the main courses failed to live up to expectations. We decided to try the Masala Dosa and Masala Oothappam based on their appealing texture, but unfortunately, they turned out to be quite disappointing. The taste fell short, making them barely eatable. It's surprising that a restaurant known for its flavorful chats and curries struggled with authentic South Indian dishes. Even the chutneys, a crucial accompaniment to these dishes, were lackluster. They lacked freshness and seemed to have been prepared well in advance, giving the impression that they were made a week ago. It's disheartening when a restaurant excels in certain areas but falters in others. While the starters at Lily's Restaurant were impressive, the subpar quality of the main courses and chutneys left a lot to be desired. It's important for a restaurant to maintain consistency across its menu, especially when it comes to regional specialties like South Indian cuisine. Given my experience, I would hesitate to recommend Lily's Restaurant for those seeking an authentic and enjoyable South Indian dining experience. However, I'm hopeful that they can address these issues and improve the overall quality of their offerings in the future.

Not been to a better Indian Vegetarian Restaurant than this. Firstly the decor and interior styling of this restaurant is on point. Subtle classical Indian music is played in the background to add to the vibrant atmosphere. The food came quickly and was presented well. Staff are polite and pleasant. The food was tasty and full of flavour. Reasonably priced. Would definitely bust again. I would strongly suggest pre book a table as this place is very busy.

Amazing vegetarian Indian restaurant and takeaway. Coming from an Indian Londoner (where we have thousands of Indian restaurants!), this is quite simply the best. I'm a meat eater and the good here beats the beat meat dishes in other Locations. The decor is modern, authentic and colourful. It has a much higher calibre of service, quality and atmosphere then your typical Indian restaurant. The only other restaurant on this level is Dishoom in Manchester Centre. The food was the quality. I recommend the Channa Masala & 4 Punjabi Purris. They are a different kind of flatbread then your used to, but very easy on the palate. There is so much vegetarian variety and the price is quite good. Its not overpriced and the portions are more then you'd expect for the average person. Parking can be found on its left side and its free if you eat in. Clean restaurant inside and out including the toilets. Quality food that's better then most Indian restaurants and helpful cheerful waiters. There is a deli at the front where you can order sweets or restaurant food to go. And has an amazing selection of small snacks. I definitely recommend this restaurant no matter if your a meat eater or never tried Indian food. This place makes the best Indian by Indians unlike most places that are not actually run by Indian person. Your getting real food at a great price.

Beautiful Indian and Indo-Chinese food. Manchester's best Indian restaurant? I've been visiting Lily's for years and since it got a facelift at the new site, it's even better! It might be vegetarian but no one could eat here and feel like they've missed out on something.

All vegetarian Indian food lovers, in fact any one who likes Indian food needs to try this place once. I eat meat and enjoy it but here the food isn't just good but..., the food is just good. The take away deli (thank goodness in Covid Times) is light airy, efficient and inviting so do not be surprised to be spending more than you intended. Staff are attentive, helpful and welcoming. Parking can be a bit exciting but never mind. PS if you don't want to or don't mind waiting, order from online first then go buy the extras!

Thank you Lily’s!! First time we ordered from you, and had very high expectations based on recommendations and reviews. Our expectations were EXCEEDED. Delicious. Meat eater, veggie, or vegan - it doesn’t matter. If you love flavourful, authentic Indian food, this is THE place. The best Indian restaurant in Ashton hands down (and not just amongst veggie restaurants). Maybe the best in Manchester.

Food was amazing, hot and fresh out of the kitchen. Arrived in a timely manner and the servers were happy to help we any questions being a vegetarian restaurant. I gave the atmosphere 3 stars due to it being really quiet as it was only us in there. Only real complaint is parking is non existent.

Edited: Visited few more times mainly for the lunch time. The starters Punjabi samosa chat and onion bajji is still my favourite and sufficient quantity. For Dosa the sambar is can’t say South Indian style taste but sweeter. Service is always top level and very quick. I would recommend mostly for starters. Visited 1st time for dine in and ordered few North Indian items (few of my friends tried South Indian dosa with sambar and responded negatively) Punjabi samosa, sev puri, Mumbai sandwich, garlic naan with paneer butter masala. The taste is awesome and it is served very hot & quickly. We usually buy the Punjabi samosa and other snacks items in that shop. Recommend.

I love this place, advertised as vegetarian cuisine but most dishes are actually vegan. Make sure you book as it’s always busy, lunchtime and evening meals. Great staff, friendly and knowledgeable. I have two negatives, the menu is overwhelming, so much choice but if you are unsure about any dish, the staff can guide you. My second negative is the limited time for use of the table, up to two hours. They are so busy with customers that it has to be managed somehow but sometimes I would love to just sit and soak up the atmosphere. There’s a handy shop attached where you can buy take away to warm up at home. On Thursdays only they have a handy platter of the popular dishes (it changes weekly) I found it great value and helped with the overwhelming menu choice I mentioned earlier. Vegan, vegetarian or carnivore, go there you will love it and there’s also a well stocked bar. Enjoy, I may see you there soon.

Extensive menu conveniently divided into various headings. Food was very very tasty. Really efficient ordering and food cake really quickly even when we were a large group. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Offered to pack up remaining food to take home. My son who is not usually that keen on vegetables said it tasted amazing. Well definitely tell others about it and will definitely be back again soon.

We came here as group of 6 and really enjoyed our time! The decor is lovely, comfortable seating, lovely and efficient staff. We were of course really impressed with the food! We are a table that has a different spice tolerance, it was amazing that we could adjust the masala dosa for each person's preference. Definitely try some desserts, they were all very yummy! Will be coming back again, at least for a quick visit to grab some Indian sweets that they sell at the entrance of the restaurant!

First visit today! Me husband and 4 year old nephew We asked for recommendations from our table server The lady recommended too much food The curry was not nice at all She recommended channa paalak It didnt taste fresh The chaat papri was amazing which i chose myself! Punjabi samosas not fresh again Chips were yum Paneer sizzler was nice but really should have gone for potato sizzler For family of 3 she did recommend way too much Choose your own dishes as ones she said were tasteless Best were chaat papri and sizzler Paid 60 pounds for 2 people To be honest price was bit steep!

Brilliant restaurant with a passion for authentic Indian food and great customer service. The many had many options, all vegetarian with clearly marked vegan options. The staff are great and helpful and food arrives freshly prepared and tasty. We had some onion nhs jus and samosas, an Uttapam, Goni Manchurian and Bryiani rice. The restaurant is easy to find and there is parking available in the ASM shop next door.
