Fantastic and enthusiastic service, with multiple offerings of food refills, complex, new flavours and great textures. Very reasonably priced, great location and you get a good amount of food. Highly recommended.

On the website, it says "booking", which made me think that you have to prebook. Not the case as they accept "walk ins". The place was very cold with no proper heating. I had my coat and my scarf on to keep warm. The "Thali" whilst looks very big and lots of variety, was a disappointment. On close inspection, the Raita which is the yogurt condiment was no more than a teaspoon. The Roti was like a crisp bread. The potato curry with aubergine looked nice but the aubergines were hard and not cooked through.Tastewise, full of garam masala. There was one small onion bhaji and a fairly big samosa. Had to ask for rice as it was supposed to have been included. The rice pudding had some sort of green gloppy stuff on it and if it wasn't specified as rice pudding then it would have passed for an unrecognisable dish.Tried a bit to taste it. It wasn't even sweet enough to be classed as a Dessert. I think this place is probably operated by someone who spent a few months in one of the Ashrams in India and returned to UK and decided to open a restaurant - AngloIndian is the word that comes to mind. Service is poor. Had to wait considerably long time for the order to be taken, for the food to arrive and get the bill. Eventually went up to the till to pay. Paid around £25.00. Response to Reply: No tikka or korma because that it not Gujarati cuisine in any case. Having said this, if it was meant to be Gujarati then the chef has a long way to go unless it was intentionally flavoured to please the "Non-indian/Gujarati" palate. Unfortunately, the verdict remains: Poor service (more time spent by the waiting staff washing up at the bar than seeing who needs to be served or taking orders), Poor quality food (crispy roti, raw aubergines, non-descript dessert which was passed off as Rice Pudding).

Reply to owner: latest response: Great responses 👏👏 Vegan mafia.....? Petrol stations? Aren't all places meant to be reviewed if you have good or bad experiences. Minority or not it is what it is and I had to say it. If you're looking through my profile to see if I have made any petty reviews like to petrol stations then oh man I don't want to explain what Google reviews are to you. We go everywhere and review the places, most places Google asks us through maps how it has been. For your information sir Dishoom did perform much below our expectations that night and in the end they emailed back after seeing the review and admitted to their mistakes on our table that night. I applause them for that customer service and having been invited to come again and see how they have improved. You didn't see how they performed exceptionally well at another of their branches from the review did you then? I don't feel powerful, I leave reviews and get on with my life but when the restaurant chooses to deliberate in the feedback then yes sir you may think that is me trying to be powerful. That is how customer interaction should be even if you cannot digest a review based on being a "minority". Sometimes being a minority is what helps find the good and bad about a restaurant. 2nd reply I have added proof of my "supposed" visit. Negative reviews are supposed visits? The main reason for not leaving a review for your restaurant earlier than I would have liked to for my visit in January, February is I did not want repurcussions for someone who was closely associated with your restaurant who is my friend. It was my one year anniversary with my fiancé a little while ago and we ket in your restaurant the first time last year. Reviews are a way of guiding other from what the restaurant claims to be true. The reality of the taste and dishes you offer is completely tasteless then what Indian vegan cuisine is. Many who love Indian cuisine who study in the Oxford city that I know have been to your restaurant and have come back with even more harsh comments than mine. Being called a beacon of hope in the most sarcastic way for leaving what I believe the most constructive criticism for yourselves, you know what I'll take that. It's tough times for everyone guys but if you want positivity in terms of your food, sorry you wont get that from me. For your business and restaurant I would wish you all the best. Original review: One of the most over exaggerated restaurants that I have visited. The pani puri doesn't taste anything like the REAL dish or any other tasteless and bland dishes that we tried. What is infuriating is that they claim it to be authentic Indian food or close to that. No Indians eat such food at home in the UK or India. Was served a kidney beans and aubergine curry that I don't have a picture of but this was one of the worst dishes I have ever tried. The one star is for the people, they are great and very kind but the sweetness is patronising in that you do not want to criticize their food infront of them. Yes if you like the food go ahead, but this food is not authentic even 1% and one of the most tasteless and OVERPRICED restaurants ive ever been to. Save your money and spend your money to cook some Indian at home rather than coming here.

Definitely one of the best places in Oxford for (vegan) Indian food. The chaats are delightful and I recommend getting a selection of different ones and just share them with a group. You can get curries as well, but it's the chaats that make this place unique. They are all different and flavourful. Would also definitely recommend the paratha as a side. The only thing one of us didn't like as the turmeric coffeel, but the chai tea was so good it even convinced a chai hater. Smoothies are also highly recommended. Super affordable too. Easy to keep coming back to try everything, because the prices are totally reasonable. Restaurant is run by a lovely women who cooks all the food herself. She came out a few times to ask how we were and was more than happy to talk about the food and explain what she wants with the restaurant. Started as a small stall on a food market, now running a restaurant, to show that vegan food can be lovely and is not what many people expect.

Very authentic Indian food. Best Indian iv eaten in the UK. I was so impressed. The ethos was also focused on local sustainable food options clearly grounded in the owners true values. And the lady who does all the cooking was kind, friendly and welcoming. I felt like we'd been invited into her home. Will be going back many times.

Absolutely incredible. Would highly recommend coming here. The dishes are packed full of flavour with good portions. The cutlery and venue was clean. The staff were very attentive and friendly, without being too overbearing. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to explain and recommend dishes. One of the better Indian restaurants in Oxford.

Went to this restaurant yesterday and was amazed start to finish. Not only does this place serve some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted but it has a great atmosphere, a kind staff, a huge range of options and a charming homeliness about how the restaurant is run and decorated. It is also worth mentioning that 4 of us ate a huge range of food and drink. Enjoyed everything and left full for just under £25 a head which is unheard of in the current climate, especially in Oxford. I cannot wait to go back to this restaurant the next time I am in Oxford, very excited to bring more friends here.

Fantastic food and lovely, friendly service. We got different curries, rotis, samosas etc. to share with the curry and rice having unlimited refills. First time having Mukhwaas after a meal and they really helped with the full-feeling from all the amazing dishes.

I’m not a vegan (partner is), but I found this to be among the best Indian food I’ve had. We got the “Thali”, a feast of flavors and a delectable variety of 12 different dishes. Each were unique and several included complimentary top ups. The samosas (not pictured) were special as well. The food alone would make this an absolute 5 star recommendation — on top of this, the service and hospitality by the owner and her staff is next level. Highly recommend!!

I usually don't leave reviews for places because I can't be bothered to, but this was an exceptional experience for me, and I promised myself not to forget to leave a review. The food was amazing, everything ranging from chaats to main course and desserts. Even the drinks were great! I had no complaints at all, considering I have super high standards for Indian food being Indian. Everything felt like the best of India honestly. The part I loved the most was how lovely the staff and chef were (shout-out to Jaya for being godly and funny). The smaller things like the saunf at the end of the meal, the various Indian pickles that were given with pretty much everything, and of course the jaggery with Chai is amazing. Can't wait go again one weekend!

For context, we eat and cook Indian food almost every night, eat at lots of south Asian restaurants both 'authentic' and western targeted, and are pescatarian. It was a nice experience for those in our group who aren't familiar with Indian cooking. Unfortunately for us that eat a lot of vegetarian and vegan south Asian food, we weren't super impressed. We had a party of 5, and ordered two 'Thali for 2', plus a samosa chaat, a pani puri and potato fritter. This was enough food for 5, but I was disappointed at the portion sizes of the thali for the cost. For the money, the thali were a bit disappointing. The thali were different despite being the same ordered dish. They had different amounts of each item and different pickles, and one came out bit by bit and the other all at once. The potato fritter was very small, only 2 small balls, and had the same sides as everything else. They were tasty but not worth the money. The samosa chaat is essentially two samosas with a basic chana masala, some sev and pomegranate. It's the same samosas as in the thali, which were filling and the pastry was quite heavy but delicious. We expected more dahi, as it was a bit dry. The curries were very small but tasty, we were served the potato, the white bean and the barley. We would have preferred some variation between the dishes, as they were all very similar in flavour and appearance. The drinks were good, the Indian lemonade was very good with a nice cumin kick. The lassi was also good. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great. We were served by 4 different people, and it took quite some time to have our orders taken and for food to arrive. We asked for a jug of tap water in the first order, which took 30 minutes to arrive after a few reminders. We wouldn't say the restaurant was super busy given the amount of waiting staff. The table we were seated at was also too small for 5, we couldn't fit the 2 thali plus drinks and plates. If you are vegan or vegetarian and are looking for fairly decent Indian food, then I would recommend Delhish, but for us it wasn't quite as good as other similarly priced restaurants.

Food lacked flavours, poor communication between chef and order manager caused a confusion in our orders. Overall, food quality poor, taste poor too. Would not repeat at all.

Amazing food and new Indian dishes I've never had. The fried colocasia leaves are amazing, and the poppadoms shouldn't be missed, they are much better than usual! And the chai tea... Basically everything.

Cosy, homely atmosphere with a family-run feel, delicious food and able to be adapted for gluten and wheat free dietary requirements. The staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t be more helpful and genuinely cared about the quality of food and the experience of the diners. The portion sizes were generous and we were regularly offered top ups of rice and other dishes. I was advised that next time, if I call ahead of my booking to notify them about gluten and wheat free dietary requirements, they would be able to prepare specially created dishes too. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough and I will definitely be back!

You know when you find a cute little restaurant and you go in and the staff are incredibly sincere and kind and they clearly own the place so they're invested in the quality but they're genuinely good people and then, on top of all that, the food is just 10/10. As you're sat there eating, you say to your date/partner/friends/family, "I hope that this place is successful, they deserve it." Well, that's the Delhish experience. Amazingly tasty Indian street food, sincerely kind staff, and just a wonderful atmosphere. Probably gonna be my go-to whenever I'm passing through Oxford.

Best Indian restaurant I've been to in ages! The owner/chef was so lovely and welcoming, and really passionate about sharing her delicious Indian cooking with people. The restaurant and food really reminded me of India. I'll definately be going back, and recommend it to anyone who likes authentic Indian food!

I've passed this cafe several times and was eager to finally try the food. Upon entering, you are greeted by friendly and accommodating staff. The menu had a good selection of food. I chose a 3-curry sample that cost £12. Due to the price, I was expecting a good size serving. Instead I was given a tiny sample of 3 mediocre curries with some flat bread. I couldn't believe my eyes! Sadly, I will not be visiting this place again. I would suggest to them to lower their curry sample to half the price as that is more reasonable. Vegan food is tasty, just not here.

We were in Oxford for one night and were really glad to find Delhish - a dream for a vegan Indian like me. Really nice atmosphere and tasty food. It felt like being in a family living room. Jaya and team are very kind and friendly. Portions are substantial and filling. I recommend this place if you’re looking for a cosy night out.

Good Vegan Food in Homely Setting. Ordered the Thali for two and was treated to a nice selection of flavours and dishes: Three different curries, rice, poppdums, fresh samosas and more. Friendly staff came to check it was ok, and topped up our rice and curries to ensure we left full! Decent price for the meal considering the refill. Two small drawdowns, the flavours could be more robust and it took a little while for our order to be taken, but the friendliness and generosity of the owner more than made up for this! Will be returning.

After seeing a recommendation on Facebook for Delhish, we decided to have a little trip to Bicester to try it out. We had such a lovely night eating THE BEST food with the prettiest of drinks for a friends birthday. Our group was a mix of vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters, but it really doesn’t matter if you’re a veggie or not, this restaurant is for anyone who loves amazing traditional Indian food, cooked with love and care along with great service. We were so well looked after. So happy we went. Highly recommend!

Great late night takeaway. Amazingly tasty vegan food. We were so lucky to get our dinner seconds after they closed. Stayed in the Inn next door for just one night and couldn't be happier to have found the lovely Delhish next door. All the best to the owners!! We loved it!

Genuine homemade vegan greatness! Oh the flavours...I can still recall the fantastic tastes we experienced 2 weeks later that's how great it was! The service from the gentlemen where a bit slow, and when we were presented with our long anticipated Thali they were off again with no explanation as to what was what or the fact that they offer free refills (during our visit) of any of the curries on the tray. Just the 2 of us with 3 curries, Kachori (swapped for Samosa which was a welcomed surprise), pakora, poppadoms, roti, rice, salad and pickles there was no denying this was a feast and we had no problems finishing the entire tray! The female chef was much more informative of the dishes and even spent time detailing the origins of our favourite dishes it was fantastic, she certainly brought our expectations of the service up a notch but still some work needed in that aspect. Generally a great experience for those that enjoy great food, there's no doubt about it, you just have to go!

I went for an evening meal with my family late November on a trip to Oxford. The restaurant had a very relaxed vibe and we received a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The server offered great advice on which food to get. We ordered Samosa Chaat and a mix of different curries and finished with a refreshing lemon sorbet. The curries came on a platter with rotis and chutneys. They were absolutely delicious and more than enough to feed the three of us. The chef asked us how spicy we wanted the curries and offered us additional spice mixes she had made herself, which was a fantastic touch. To top it all off, the food was incredibly affordable. Highly recommend!

By far the best food we had during our four day stay in Oxford. Huge selection of interesting and tasty dishes in the thali for a very reasonable price. The people were also lovely and told us a little about some of the dishes which was a great personal touch.

Been wanting to go for over a year and finally made the time and wasn't disappointed! The owner was very lovely and obviously very passionate about the food she makes, which is delicious so I understand why! All made very fresh, and everything on the menu was explained to us, and things like spice could be adjusted to however you liked it. The interior decor is also lovely and colourful so a lovely place to eat.

Delhish true to the name is a total Vegan restaurant. For people looking for simple, plain non-spicy food it’s a nice little place with lots of character. Staff were very kind and ready to serve food I spite of us showing up in the last minute before closing down.not a bit of frown on their faces and they served us with utmost hospitality. Food could have been better. We were served puri and felt it was oily. Chat was spot on reminded me of good old days when I ate chat in India 🇮🇳 vegetable curries felt like they were just boiled and added a bit of masala. They could have been cooked and a bit of flavour could help. Over all it was a good experience and no regrets. I necessarily would not choose to go again for the money I spend.

Having read great reviews we were excited to try this place. The decorations for Diwali were lovely. But they were overwhelmed and only one waiter able to take orders. It was half an hour before our order was taken and we had to ask for attention. Food was OK - interesting and tasty but not excellent.

Absolutely incredible service! Such a wonderful, family-run atmosphere :) All the food is delicious and the staff are so knowledgeable about the food (spice levels, ingredients, recommendations). On our visit, they were short staffed but were all working SO hard to still deliver a wonderful experience - and they delivered. Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere - and their Indian Lemonade is fantastic 😍💜

Amazing homely Indian food, moderate spice levels, chutneys are to die for. Service is slow so expect to have a leisurely meal but the chic ambience makes up for it. If you are indian- come here for familiarity: if you are not, come here for novelty. But come here for sure!

Excellent and authentic North Indian (Gujarati) food. We went for the 3 curry thaali and it was delicious with very generous portions. My partner has coeliacs and the staff took very good care to ensure his meal was suitable and he didn't feel like he missed out. It's a shame I was only passing through Oxford - if I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular here, it reminds me of my mum's cooking :)

Delhish Vegan Kitchen catered an event for us, and the whole experience was fantastic. The service provided was incredible. The team were so friendly, and made sure that everything went smoothly on the day. The food was absolutely phenomenal - it impressed all of our guests! The flavours were spot on, and the food was of an excellent quality. Can't recommend Delhish Vegan Kitchen enough either for catering events, or just for a warming meal with family and friends.

Great Place! I really enjoyed my time there, especially since all the staff were so nice! The food was delicious, and seemed quite authentic, although that meant it was a bit too spicy for me. However, when the owner noticed I was finding it too hot, she offered to make another curry, with some vegan yoghurt on top to cool it down, and that really made my day! It had a very homely feel, and my vegan friend said it was very nice to just have an all vegan place, so she didn't have to worry about whether there were animal products when ordering. I would definitely go there again!

Had never been to or heard of a vegan Indian restaurant before, and skeptical when it was suggested by a friend. I can happily say this is one of the best and memorable Indian restaurant experiences I've had in recent time. I had the thali which was recommended, and had a mixture of everything with some amazing flavors. Highly recommend and will be visiting in the future.

  • 5/5 Robin G. 4 years ago on Google
Delicious authentic, Indian, vegetarian food. This is not a Bangladeshi restaurant so don't expect naans. I'd recommend ordering a thali to try different curries simultaneously, although the menu is packed with different options. The owner/chef was very friendly and kind - thank you! The only quibble is the thali price - it's £17 for two individual dishes but £30 for one large thali plate. This should probably be made clearer on the menu or staff should double check what is ordered.

Lovely meal here with friends in early Feb 2019. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly chef who went out of her way to talk to us about each dish and make sure we were comfortable. The food was all delicious and lighter than your average British-Indian meal (due to most of our dishes being vegan), although we still left absolutely stuffed and happy! We will be back.

Delicious mix of Indian treats! We had a great time here and were well taken care of by the lovely hosts. The food was all delicious, homely and refreshingly different to the standards you're likely to find at your regular curry house. Highly recommended, a real local gem.

Indian food, less than a mile from Bicester Village. The place looks small but the interiors have been carefully setup to reflect Indian theme. The food taste, is simply awesome!! and the presentation is different and an eye catcher. Definitely worth a visit. the owners are polite & friendly.

This place is such a culinary treasure when it comes to authentic indian food. Jaya’s passion and talent for vegetarian indian food is there to delight in every offering. Miles superior to the run of the mill ‘indian’ restaurant with the same ubiquitous menu offerings (think Jalfrezi, Dopyaza, Naan, rice) this place has the real taste of ‘mum’s home cooked indian food’ - and I should know I grew up in India! Highly recommended even for those who have never gone ‘vegetarian’ - you will not be disappointed.

Had a very tasty family dinner. My parents (originally from India and vegetarians) were super impressed and wanted to go back for lunch... I can safely say it's the best Indian veggie food we've eaten in a long time. The chef, Jaya, was really friendly and the waiting staff very attentive.

For £8 each at lunchtime, this place is such a steal!! The specials board is updated daily with the freshest and most delicious food I've eaten in a long time. The chef has incredible knowledge and passion which is infectious, even explained that they offer cookery classes which is something I will definitely be attending if it means I can cook anything like they produce. Well worth a visit!!

We got 2 curries with samosas, and the food was amazing. The samosas were some of the best I've had, and everything was fresh and not oily like at many other Indian restaurants I've been to. I had a fresh orange juice that was blended, and it was so refreshing! Would highly recommend. For the price also, you get a good portion of food.

Such a hidden little treasure. Recently took some vegan friends who came to stay and they LOVED this place. We shared a 'Thali' for three and the food variety was vast and the portion sizes very generous. The staff are extremely accommodating. Will definitely be going back. We went late midweek so parking outside was not an issue.

First experience, we tried the shared Thali platter which had a good mix of everything and seemed very authentic. Tasted great and the service was perfect. Recommended.

Incredible authentic vegan Indian food!!! We stumbled across this restaurant using the happy cow app and the whole experience made our day. Food was divine and service was impeccable - we had a lovely chat with the chef who was absolutely delightful! I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

We visited this restaurant last week and had an amazing experience. The food was delicious and the chef was so lovely. My husband has nut allergy so she amended a recipe to meet his needs. We loved that she came out and had a chat with us to, she was very welcoming. If we come to Bicester again we will definitely pay you a visit.

Wanted somewhere to take my vegan daughter where the vegan option is not a single dish afterthought. Delhish is the place to go! Great tasting food and friendly service. We each had the thali tray which we all thoroughly enjoyed, defiantly not your standard Indian restaurant and well worth a visit

We had a wonderful evening enjoying traditional Indian food, even down to the exquisite mango lasse (I haven't tasted one since my trip to Kerala 3 years ago), what a joy. The staff were extremely friendly and contributed to the evening's enjoyment. Highly recommended

Insanely good food with wonderful spices and flavour combinations. One of the best Indian spots in Oxford hands down. Service was also great, everyone was so lovely and enthusiastic. Looking forward to coming here again!

We celebrated my partner’s birthday by attending a cooking class and enjoying a spot of lunch. Loved every minute of the experience. I went home keen to continue practicing my Indian bread making skills and continued to use the dough we made through the class. Jaya is a wonderful host, and the service was super. As a meat eater I did not miss the meat at all, everything was delicious! I would highly recommend Delhish.

Jaya's cooking classes are an amazing experience! Highly recommend it! During the class we learned a lot about and different spices and their properties and we prepared (and ate) different types of Indian dough. We were also offered some delicious samosas. I will definitely go back to try more of their menu items!
