Lovely pizzas & loads of menu choice. Friendly, prompt & efficient service. Clean & tidy cafe. One of our favourite places for lunch.

Yes, yes, yes ,yes. Saw this place last week whilst visiting a more formal restaurant nearby as and thought to give it a try. Phoned on the Friday lunchtime but all the 2 HR slots for 7 pm were filled, so we opted for one of the few remaining 5 pm slots. After all it is just a cafe. How wrong that sentiment is. The only thing cafe about this place is the name and the substantial cafe type table and chairs, and even then I've been in restaurants with less good quality seating. Met by one of three members of staff and seated quickly in a bright and happy atmosphere nicely decorated and clean. Offered the menu which is extensive. Starters, sides, salads, build your own pizzas, about 18 named pizzas, burritos,nachos, wraps and enchiladas as well as pasta options, baked potatoes etc. Yes my friends, places with a huge menu option choice often see chef fail to deliver consistent quality across all dishes. NOT HERE! A bowl of olives (enough for two) and a 'chips dips and garlic bread' were delivered. Three dips, probably a bag of nachos and the most delicious pieces of toasted and properly buttered bits of bread came in bowls on a plate. This was a good start. Note the red wine was super smooth (a Merlot at 5 pm!) and was perfect temperature. We went for two named regular pizzas (a medium in old money) and side order of crisscross fries tossed in MARMITE butter (it had to be tried, just once). They are different! It is clear there no previously made, bought in bases going on here. This was clearly authentic dough, with deep topping pizzas made to order and what a treat they were. Hot, melted crisp, fresh. I mean how many words can you use to describe fantastic pizza? Chef clearly had the nailed and my worries over the menu were completely dispelled when seeing other orders and hearing other customers talking about their food. Well done all staff involved. I wouldn't normally go for a dessert at this time of day. It's excessive but something caught my eye on the whole page.of desserts. Something called a 'Super 8'. I won't spoil it by trying to describe this sundae in words except to say 'heaven in a glass' for chocolate, and after 8 and mint ice-cream and chocolate brownie and chocolate sauce lovers................. WOW! An exceptional experience in a full cafe, eating fabulous food, great mix of young and old, nothing formal, everything prepared.abd cooked wonderfully and delivered in a professional and polite manner. A must visit if only for the desserts!

Disappointing meal here unfortunately. My spaghetti was hugely over cooked and although the meatballs were nice they were over shadowed by a very basic, one dimensional tomato sauce. The pizza wasn’t much better as it was oily and thick, however the flavour was good. Our meal was somewhat saved by the outstanding garlic bread and a lovely warm chocolate brownie to finish.

Absolutely top-notch! The food was delicious (and plentiful!) and the staff were really knowledgeable and super helpful for our two daughters who are coeliac. The gluten-free choices are ace and we really had a great time - thank you all so much!

I had an hour to spare at Newton Abbot railway station so I found this pizza place on Google maps and decided to head down for a quick bite to eat. I had the Margherita pizza with garlic bread and coleslaw. For £7.50 it was really nice and good value for money. Would recommend this place if passing through Newton Abbot.

Went there a couple of nights ago a group of 15 celebrate a 21st birthday. Food was excellent staff and service excellent but we were all freezing. I and others continually asked for the air con to be turned down and eventually we had to get blankets from the car to keep warm. Such a shame really spoil our evening

Fantastic restaurant! The staff were really friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we wanted. The food was amazing, they had two menus one standard and one vegan. I'm a big pizza lover and these are up there for the best pizzas I've had! There are lots of other options as well if you're not into pizza. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great night out with friends, family or date nights. 10/10!

The pizza was fantastic. Very flavoursome. The free garlic bread was also a treat. Unanimously "best garlic bread we've had". The staff were warm and polite. We'll be back.

Fantastic place to eat - excellent food and the staff are top-drawer!! Refreshing to have friendly people who obviously have a great work relationship- working hard and helping each other. Really recommend you visit here!

Family friendly cafe. Great for breakfast and lunch and amazing for dinner. Sensible prices and a good selection of pasta, pizza, wraps and sides. If you save a little space the desserts are amazing. Design your own float or pizza. Can't finish your pizza, ask for it to be put in a box and take your leftovers home. Service is quick, friendly and flexible. A fabulous place.

I often been in the "Pizza Cafe" for birthdays and meals out over the past two decades. I been there with friends, when there were still Covid-19 restrictions during the months the cafe was allowed to open for sitting. I was last there, on Friday 30th September 2022.

Very dissapointed. Burnt and hard bases Watery tasteless topping. More than half of each of the pizzas went in the bin as they were so horrible. Good service from the person who answered the phone and the delivery person; but the food was the worst pizza, in fact takeaway we have had in years sorry to say. We were starving as well :-(

There's no love or passion. The base is terrible. It's suppose to be thin and chewy. It's about as far removed from a Naples-style pizza as you can get. The quality of ingredients were good but the chef clearly has no passion for Italian cuisine. I felt It was just thick bread.

I had high hopes as I am a pizza lover, how wrong could I have been. Greeted by a rude member of staff, so not the best start. The cafe was busy, very busy, the tables are very crammed in together and so much so the back of my chair was being hit by every person and memeber of staff walking past....... While trying to order the member of staff seemed more concerned in talking to people walking through the door and other members of staff, a bit annoyed, we still ordered had we had high hopes of some of the best pizza in Devon..... How wrong we were. My pizza was how to put it..... pretty awful, I've had better supermarket own microwave pizza's...... the toppings didn't reach the edge which was VERY dry so that was left. I paid and left, why I paid I have no idea. Rude staff and below par pizza, just don't bother, you will be better off going to Pizza Hut.

We used The Pizza Cafe today for the first time as we needed lunch for 5 people on a training day at work. We had a selection of pizzas and sides and they were all delicious. Delivered to the door so we didn't have to send anyone to collect and good value. Will definitely use Mike and his team again. Thank you

Have been to pizza cafe now for many years and have never had any problems with eating in. Today was the first ever take away (collection). Nachos had been put into a plastic box and micro waved leaving them all chewy like gone off crisps, the cheese had been nuked so it all came out in one unappetising block. Inedible. Ordered criss cross fries but got curly cold, some incredibly burnt, some raw, fries. So cold the cheese didn’t even melt. Wouldn’t mind but we waited almost one hour from order to collection outside the store. 2 stars for the pizza as it was the only thing edible. Very costly mistake and wouldn’t be getting take away from them again.

Cute little cafe, established over 30 years ago! Modern decor, great service and very tasty pizzas. Enough vegetarian options too. Greatly enjoyed the as good as it gets vegetarian pizza

Great pizzas, never been disappointed. Fantastic selection of pizzas from the classics to the more weird and wonderful flavours. Highly recommend giving them a try. You can eat in or takeaway 👍🏻

Love this place - all the charm of a little local cafe but with a monster menu: so much choice!! All the food been amazing on every visit, staff are lovely and the atmosphere is chill. Great place and highly recommend it!

Been going to The pizza cafe for many years and never had a bad meal. Plenty of choice, quality products used, I highly recommend a visit. Staff always friendly and efficient.

We've been a customer of Pizza Cafe for years and maintain that the pizzas are the best in town. The pizza tonight was no exception, so tasty. However, we were disappointed with the portion size of the nachos, much smaller than we've had before, the tub was mostly sauce and cheese. The criss cross fries were also smaller than usual but not to the point of causing disappointment. Hopefully it was a one off and will be better next time!

Alright place to stop in for a bite to eat. I wouldn't say the food is life changing or anything, a lot of the chicken, onion rings etc are clearly just oven baked. The potato skins are kinda basic too. Most of that stuff was sorta bland without the dips. The wings too were pretty bland but cooked well. I did not try the pizza so maybe that's where this place shines. The cocktails were probably my favourite thing at they do 2 for £10 after 4pm if u wanna get crunk. They have a lot of vegan options too.

Just the best. Have been going to The Pizza Cafe for the best part of 30 years (first in Torquay, now in Newton) and it's consistently the best experience you can have. Food is always fresh, tasty and served quickly, and tonnes of options if you don't want pizza. The team are always friendly and accomodating, and in terms of cost it's great value. Now, if they can just bring back the 'Gone with the Wind' Pizza from the 90s that would be perfect...

Superb friendly fast service with amazing food. A table of 6 with lots of different orders and it all came out at the same time after only 15 mins of waiting. Drinks were fab too, would recommend the elderflower cooler and the pizzas are original and tasty. Will be back soon!!

Lovely atmosphere. Really friendly and helpful staff. Lots of choice and the pizza toppings were lovely however the base was slightly watery. It wouldn't put me off returning though and I'd love to try one of the pasta dishes :)

Had a lovely meal with the most friendly staff! We were let down by another restaurant so needed to find somewhere last minute and the staff were so accommodating. 5*******

Can be hit and miss with the quality of pizzas. Having visited twice in the past month, the quality was very good on our first visit when it was very busy, with lots of topping and crunchy base, and the Combo bits were done just right. The second time, it was empty, and we ordered the same. The pizza had less topping and too much cheese, and seemed undercooked as the cheese just slid down the tomato base. The Combo bits were slightly burnt too. 5* the first time, 3* the second. I would ask for more consistency in providing great quality food at this price.

Great little spot in Newton Abbott. Found by chance after a visit to Paignton Zoo and so glad we visited. You must book as busy place. Great choice of wonderful pizzas but also offer pasta and Mexican. Highly recommended - great food, very good value for money and awesome customer service.

I was so looking forward to this after hearing so many lovely comments from family, went there for mothers day with my daughters and Grandchildren who haven't been out to eat since covid broke, so a big deal for my Grandson being just 4 1/2 now eyes everywhere taking it all in...like a sponge! Met to be seated which is great but had to wait for the table to be cleared as they were really busy as you would imagine being Mother's day, unfortunately when being seated we were told we would have to be finished at 7pm this was 5.30 just sitting down with two young children so that left us with a damper before we started we felt like we were being rushed! The food choice 😋 👌 😌 ☺️ The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable which is always brilliant 👏 😀 . Oh my, The Food incredibly 😋 😍 tasty, presentation fantastic and no we didn't finish by 7pm and we were not rushed too but that sentence put me off at the start of our evening's experience, so I'm very glad to say it was worthy of the comments made from family to visit! Please though think about that sentence, it truly wasn't long to choose a dinner, eat and then choose a pudding with two young children! 😀

Came here with my partner for a meal after we were recommended it by a friend and it really didn't disappoint. The menu was surprisingly extensive, including kids meals, gluten free and lots of vegan options also available, all at a really affordable price and all cooked fresh. The food was served really fast, all the staff were really lovely and we love to support independent family run businesses, so this was a big plus for us too.
