We had the Wee Tour of Scotland Tasting menu and it was amazing. Really interesting selection of wines that worked amazingly well indeed. Will be tracking them down to buy. Every dish was cooked to perfection, full of flavour and variety, made from high quality ingredients. Small restaurant with a nice, relaxed vibe. Staff were all great, kept the food coming at exactly the right pace and even got us a taxi at the end. Loved it. Will go back.

A delicious tasting menu showcasing some fresh local ingredients, cooked well and not trying to be overly fussy for the sake of it. The highlights for me were the pork belly and scallops. A comfortable dining room and generally decent service, though it took a while to warm to our waitress who was quite cold on arrival, almost bordering rude - it also felt like there were some unresolved issues between the wait staff but they tried to keep it behind the scenes. This is mostly the reason for knocking off a star. We were seated close to the door which was quite distracting with the traffic in and out but was fine otherwise. A good wine pairing too, will certainly recommend if you’re looking for a nice evening trying some fantastic local produce.

Modern cuisine. Good taste. What I like about it here is their private malt collection. Worth trying. :) Well trained and friendly staffs. Located near old town. No parking arrangement but street parking is available.

Beautifully cooked and presented food that represents Scotland. Had the Wee Tour of Scotland tasting menu and enjoyed every bite of it. The kitchen is turning out well designed dishes and front of house has got the pace on point with the wine pairing and serving. Thoroughly enjoyable. Would return the next time I’m in the city.

Amazingly place. They are true lovers of fine food in a relaxed non pretentious environment. Super friendly to non standard diners and foodies who just be to celebrate amazing tastes and combinations. The food, especielly deserts are the best in Edinburgh I have found so far. (Edinburgh local for 8 years so far ;).)

Unfortunately disappointed. Overpriced. 140£ for the tasting menu and wines. Meat overcooked to my taste (that said no one ever asked how I liked my meat...). Portions were small. Wines are all too young, lacking "rondeur" or mouthfeel... The desserts were supermarket quality...

Beautiful and delicious tasting menu. We enjoyed both the omnivore and vegetarian menus. Service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is cozy and cute. Only down side is that it can get quite hard to hear once the tables start filling up.

Great value set lunches. 2 courses at £25 and 3 courses at £30. Food was excellent especially the pork belly and sticky date pudding. Recommend a try if you are in Edinburgh.

Absolutely disgraceful taster menu - bland, microscopic in size, unimaginative and frankly boring from start to finish. The low points include a salmon cut the size of my pinky finger (with a basic soy sauce/ginger glaze - what’s Scottish about that?) , an overcooked mushroom slither with what tasted like a dollop of Hellman’s mayonnaise on top and an additional charge to include a single scallop in an already criminal overpriced tasting menu. It’s called the “wee taste of Scotland”, so I suppose it comes as advertised (the “wee” bit at least) because we all had to eat a second dinner after this one, despite paying over £100 each. I don’t mind paying £££ for high quality, inventive cuisine but this place takes the micky. Wedgewood still riding off a bygone Michelin award with food as bland as wood. Weakest tasting menu I have ever experienced

I came down from Arthur's Seat completely winded and picked a restaurant at random by looking for Scottish cuisine. The day prior had been my birthday but I was traveling all day and didn't get to enjoy it. The staff was lovely and when I left the food and wine up to the hostess/owner kept bringing hit after hit. I was seated right before a fully booked dinner rush but the service was not lacking despite the hurry.

This is a well deserved Michelin star recommendation restaurant. The setting, ambience, decoration, professional and friendly staff, fantastic food, and the presentation of the food are all under the Michelin Star standard. The food so delicious and dedicatedly decorated. The combination of the food from started to dessert is awesome. They have great wine list too. The location of this restaurant is so central. It is located along the famous “Royal Mile”. Surely highly recommended to anyone visit Edinburg to have a meal or two in this place. Worth every cents to have meals here!!

Ate here last night and it was glorious. We had the wee tour of Scotland menu which was absolutely amazing. We added the scallops which were a highlight. The service was excellent as well. My girlfriend is not a great fan of wine but on advice she tried and loved an interesting mango infused Indian wine. Highly recommend this place!

We had the Wee Tour of Scotland Tasting menu and it exceeded our expectations. Every course was interesting and full of flavour. Small restaurant with a nice, relaxed vibe. Sunday night so it got quiet later and staff gave us extra attention. Pace of courses was fine, which is important with a tasting menu. Got a decent bottle of wine from the "end of bins" selection for only £18. Dessert in particular was amazing and the fudge with the tea and extra truffles when the bill came were lovely small extra touches. Recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh

Had a lovely meal at Wedgwood. The food is delicious - we had hake and chicken for mains, and sticky toffee pudding and chocolate sachertorte for dessert. Lots of gluten free options too. Will highly recommend

We picked this restaurant for our dinner date in Edinburgh after browsing menus and reviews with some competitors, and we could not be happier. Great knowledge of their products and their dishes, lovely pairings for the wine flight (and allowed an amendment), never had to repeat or chase anything at any point, and the service was spot in even with three different people alternating touching our table. It has been one of the most remarkable dining experiences in a while. Left happy and satisfied. Thank you so much.

14/4/22 Sensational food cooked to perfection with much attention to detail and the service was impeccable, which made for a very memorable evening. The setting was intimate, there was low noise levels. Everything was comfortable and exceptional clean. We both chose three courses, matching wines were advised by the well informed staff. Highly recommended. Thank you, Maria & Hans.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Me and my partner visited Edinburgh as part of our 10th anniversary and decided to try this place out our first evening there and we are both so glad we did. The waiting staff are very professional yet also very friendly and welcoming. The menu is varied and I only wish I could have sampled more of it as the food I did try was exquisite. I know that may sound dramatic, there's simply no other word that does it justice. We will very definitely be repeat customers the next time we are up that way. Added firmly to our favourites list!

10 out of 10! Hard to settle on the best part. The service, the food or the wine. All stellar. If pressed, I guess the salmon would be the star of the show and I'm from BC, so I know my way around salmon. A close second in terms of food would be the sticky toffee, it gives Nigella's a run for the money. But best if all is the overall feel of the place. I can't remember ever being taken care of with such kindness and appulm. Make haste to get here if you can.

Decent restaurant with good food and friendly staff. We tried the deer and the salmon and the dishes were tasty and not too big, but just right. The wine and beer selection is rather limited and when we visited a number of bottles weren’t available at all. We rated the restaurant three, which for us means good, because we found the interior somewhat cold. Now, that is of course a matter of taste, so others may like it more than we did.

  • 4/5 Jenny 2 years ago on Google
This restaurant is very unique. They used local ingredients and made them to distinctive dishes. (At least I never had something like that before) I especially love the blend of chocolate and salty ice cream. Pigeon breast was so cool. The staff was friendly and helpful and the place was cozy. However the portion wasn’t large and the price was a bit high for me (even the lunch menu which was cheaper). Still, I would recommend to someone looking for an interesting yet a bit luxurious Scottish experience other than fish & chips, whisky and haggis 🤣 Remember to book in advance!

Fantastic experience. We brought our 7 month old daughter and the staff was extremely accommodating. Nieve even helped play with our daughter when the food came so we could eat. For starters, the pork belly was especially good. For mains, we tried the deer loin and pheasant and they were exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the desserts closed out a high quality meal.

In for lunch, we were running late due to weather and the staff were very accommodating. The set lunch menu was 3 choices for the 3 courses and as someone who enjoys his food, quite difficult to make a decision! The service was unobtrusive but the staff offered appropriate wine hints and tips. Definitely need to revisit

Unfortunately it wasn’t the best dining experience. We went for lunch for a birthday celebration. Firstly, and very importantly, it’s Scotland, it’s winter, please heat your restaurant. A small electric radiator is not sufficient and sitting wearing my coat to eat my food is not the experience I expected. The food was okay but sorry to say it lacked flavour. The cod dish was overpowered by salt. My husband had the turkey dinner which probably was a better option. On a positive note there was no scrimping on the bread and the desserts were divine (not a dessert fan usually so kudos). When the bill came we had accidentally been charged £40 for a bottle of wine which we had not ordered. This was promptly removed with no fuss. Overall it was an average experience which was a shame as I had been looking forward to eating here for a while.

It was a lovely 3-course lunch at Wedgwood on our wedding anniversary. Great also that we could walk in. We were initially worried that we won’t be full, but we were both tummy full at the end of the 3rd course. Indeed, the ingredients were fresh (Hake fillet, chicken breast). I would have preferred if the peas come mashed or it was another vegetable choice with the fish. The berries parfait dessert was my favourite!

I had the Wee Veggie Tour of Scotland. Food was good, appreciate that there was a vegetarian menu offered. Basement ambience was honestly a little lacking though!

  • 1/5 Lex C. 8 months ago on Google
My spouse and I decided to try something new and went here for our wedding anniversary dinner. We had high hopes based on the reviews and awards it has won. I got the vegetarian tasting menu, and my spouse had the regular tasting menu. The food was just 'okay' and the portions were absolutely miniscule. One of my courses (roasted cauliflower) had literally one small floret of cauliflower. The courgette course had 2 thin slices of courgette. 1-3 bites of mediocre food with a wait time of at least 20+ minutes between each course was excruciating as the food was neither worth the time nor the price. The cheese course we ordered had several non-vegetarian cheeses which I only noticed when we received the cheese descriptions right before the course, so I asked if we'd be able to do it with just vegetarian cheeses. They said 'maybe', they'll check, and walked off. 10 minutes later they came back with the cheese course which only had 2 vegetarian cheeses, and they said they gave us a wee bit more brie to make up for it. They didn't tell us this ahead of time otherwise I wouldn't have opted for the cheese course at that point. The cheese course for 2 was about the size of a 1 person cheese course at Aurora in Leith. The servers were very short, didn't explain the dishes well beyond what was written on the menu, and not very attentive. The place was very loud despite it being a small room. They also didn't do anything at all to acknowledge our anniversary (not even a 'happy anniversary') which I made them aware of prior to our booking. I also do not drink often, and when I asked, they said they couldn't make any mocktails. The only somewhat interesting soft drinks they had apart from the usual coke, sprite, etc. was either elderflower or rhubarb presse which was just fine. My partner and I didn't even stay for coffee, and they ran out of fudge. The dessert course was so poor that I didn't even finish, and I ALWAYS finish dessert. It took over 2.5 hours without the coffee and fudge and with us eating VERY quickly. Safe to say we won't be recommending Wedgewood. It was immensely disappointing and didn't at all deliver on what we thought would be a special evening.

Lisa! Hospitality and service were 5*. Venison, was A++. Definitely would go there again. Scallops....to die for. Beauty whit wine was perfect for the mixed dishes. They deserve nothing but praise for their final accurate product ! As a restauranteur, with a former 7 worldwide international locations, I require high marks on the entire dining experience. They exceeded my expectations. My wife's as well! Venson photo'd as delivered to our table.

In a normal existence we would go to the restaurant for a celebratory meal. When I found they were doing a takeaway solution I was thrilled! Yes yes. We were placed in the basement ("lower dining room") which isn't the greatest space, but the whole experience was made wonderful by the food, which is expertly done, and the service, which was thoughtful and responsive (and COVID-compliant). We took our (well-behaved) kids and they loved it too. No children's menu, but we all just shared some starters and mains.

I have been here for dinner, about 3 times now and it had always been great. The hidden away gem on the royal mile has a “family business” type feel as the staff is happy to chat with you and make you feel welcome. Yet the restaurant and especially the food is more high end The food is genuinely great and will change with the season.

The dishes were delicious! Doesn’t look as fancy but all that matters is taste right? Definitely lives up to its hype of being in the Michelin Guide. The place gets crowded for lunch, reservation is nearly essential.

In short, excellent for the very attractive price! Dishes were well prepared, one could tell that there's some good quality to the chefs' skills. Well done. Food presentation was also pretty good. The restaurant wasn't fully booked on a Saturday, walk-ins were able to get a table, so perfect for a spontaneous visit. They change their menu every day, which adds an element of surprise to their dishes. Downside, waiters were not attentive, chatting at the counter most of the time. One of the ladies poured tap water into my glass of sparkling water, which although I didn't make a fuss about it, it could have been avoided. Dishes were served pretty slow too. Otherwise, a decent visit.

How this restaurant doesn't have a Michelin Star yet? We took the Wee Tour of Scotland, and it was absolutely amazing. On one hand, it's everything you'd expect. Lobster. Mushrooms. Venison. Cod.
