The food was delicious, the setting was beautiful, and the service was great. Only one veggie option and the vegan option being a reduction of the veggie option was disappointing and outdated. That being said the veggie option was very tasty! Could do with some soft music in the background for atmosphere.

We don’t mind at all to pay a corkage charge of £30 for our bottle of 2006 Chateau Morton Rothschild. A special occasion for celebrating my son’s UCL graduation, but SAD to mention they said they can’t open it on our table to cheering our big day !!! This is out of our a normal expectation, the bottle has to be taken away to be open behind us at the bar, I then been restricted and could only take pictures and video clips of the opening bottle behind the scene distance away from our table; this again serving no purpose at all to cheer up our newly graduate for the night. This tall and bold headed guy opened our bottle shocked me at that moment from his BAD etiquette till I can’t even remember to ask for his name. From the decanter he poured and drank a shot of our CHATEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD acting as if he is a professional wine taster without our permission and even though IF he were to ask our permission he is in a very wrong moved. He did the first tasting it before my son ! We are paying for the corkage charge services and not for him to judge on our wine by tasting and educating me to breath our fine fine. It’s purely an insult on us !!! I don’t want to comment anything else on meals, for the wine being we do not deserve such lousy treatment. CHATEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD is not the price, it is the memory and the experienced collected three years ago from our Special invited VIP tour in ROTHSCHILD , a prestigious winery estate that we wanted to bring our experienced and taste to share with my family on his special day. SPRING ruined our special occasion !!!

We took the Scratch menu which is literally pot luck! Excellent margarita cocktail. The salad starter had no flavour and the green stalk was too chewy; the fish main was simple and tasty but indistinguished for a quality restaurant; the desert was the best, both well balanced flavours and textures and creatively presented. Staff were welcoming and informative, especially about the restaurant’s green credentials - seasonal food sourced from known supplier, no food waste - food reused creatively in the Scratch menu, no plastic anywhere. Raising the bar for food standards. Maybe more thought given to simple flavours.

A remarkable restaurant. The setting and room are elegant and impressive, they have the well designed, classical wow factor actually all too rare in London. The service is impeccable, and the food first class. It's not cheap, but it is all excellent across the board: tasty, classy, fresh and well judged.

This restaurant is undeniably stunning to look at but the menu is not quite to my taste. Still, it will make for a very impressive date location, so I recommend visiting at least once. There was no background music playing when I visited so go with good company 😅 I had a main of lamb. Dessert with kumquat and orange wine. Wine lovers will be glad to know that the wine list is quite long here.

Just enjoyed the most amazing lunch for family celebration. The staff could not have done more to make it an exceptionally special time. Utterly delicious food, lovely ambience - completely wonderful. Thank you.

Large open restaurant with some lovely grand period features. Unfortunately rather busy, noisy and lacks any ambiance. Service was adequate but it seemed the staff were slightly stretched and it took a while for them to take a drinks order. Staff were pleasant but lacked any sense of personality and the experience seemed a little soulless. Food was generally very nice especially the steak but side dish of roast potatoes were slightly hard. Salad was just bare leaves and cost £12. Dessert was uninteresting and could have easily come from M&S with a bit of sauce dribbled over it. Given the high prices (£40 steak +£12 side dish), I would expect better. Overall OK but left underwhelmed.

On a magical spring evening, my friends and I found ourselves stepping into the enchanting realm of Spring, a restaurant renowned for its culinary masterpieces and classy ambiance. We were gathered there to celebrate a special birthday. The restaurant was a vision of elegance, adorned with blooming flowers and soft lighting that cast a warm, inviting glow over the entire space. The menu was a work of art, offering a tantalizing array of dishes that promised a gastronomic adventure. Each course that arrived was amazing. It was nice to celebrate spring in the Spring! Thanks to all team.

Beautiful dining room with a minimalist vibe. Had the scratch menu and the starter was exceptional. My paloma cocktail was also delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was good, but not great. The dessert, in particular, was disappointing. Overall, a good experience, though, and worthy of trying again.

My pregnant wife and I traveled from California to London anticipating what we hoped would be a tremendous dining experience at Spring. It was not. We were actually warned by friends to book dinner reservations somewhere else, as they had a very bad experience at Spring themselves. We should have taken that advice. The most inexcusable part of our evening was how we were treated by one of the male servers for our table. He was incredibly disrespectful and dismissive. He must really despise pregnant women. He treated us like dirt. He treated us like we weren’t worth his time or that we didn’t deserve to be there. He talked back to us and gave us attitude the entire evening. We spent nearly 500 pounds on dinner and you would think you’d be treated not only fairly but with exceptional service. Neither happened. The place itself is beautiful but the second most disappointing part of our evening was the food. It was so incredibly unexceptional. SO disappointing. The salad was so bland and flavorless. The pasta was good but also so boring and forgettable and so poorly presented. Every server was so rushed and the food came out almost falling off the plate/bowl. The steak was the most disappointing. So poorly cooked. It was the equivalent of a good meal on an airplane. Please do not make the mistakes we made by spending SO much money for an evening of disrespect, horrible superior and arrogant attitudes and unexceptional food. We were so disappointed and let down.

Beautiful place to have a lunch out. Reasonable price as well. We had 3 course meal on that day. Professional and polite service, enough space between tables. The ingredients they use all supplied by themselves, I personally very fond of this food ideology so would recommend.

I was really excited to eat here, but it disappointed. My fish was over cooked and a gentle complaint about this went totally ignored…and no, this was not a situation of eating the entire dish then complaining - I left 2/3rds of the fish, but they just didn’t care. The fritto misto starter contained just one piece of squid, but numerous slices of deep fried onion masquerading as squid - maybe they were running low on the night.

Try the pre dinner scratch menu at £20 per head! You will not now the menu until the day and the aim is to create fabulous dishes from what would have been waste. Their aim is to provide delicious, nutritious meals using ingredients that are often over looked and they certainly achieve this. Really well presented and very tasty meals served in a fabulous dinning room, a real treat!

Contemporary fine dining at its finest. The decor is very light and open. The staff were attentive whilst seemingly being discreet. The food portions were substantial and represented excellent value for money. My partner had the crab with ‘nduja followed by the Guinea fowl and I had the straciatella followed by the fillet of beef - all of the dishes were 5 star quality. I can’t wait to go again.

Table for 4 all opting for the scratch menu. At £20 per head the dishes were full of flavour and colour. French wine bottle at £40 was a bit steep but as we saved per head for the food courses it worked out well.

I’ve been to Spring previously and wasn’t overly impressed. It felt expensive and the service a bit cold. So much so that I wasn’t eagerly looking forward to returning when a friend booked it. But I was pleasantly surprised as this time the service was very friendly, helpful, informative and lovely in general. The cocktails were great, my ricotta dumplings were delicious, as were the crispy potatoes. Others said the fillet and Guinea fowl were also amazing. Then we had the custard tart to share for desert which was incredible. Would now come back!

Beautiful setting. The staff are very knowledgeable, especially the sommelier. We had the prawns and crab cakes for starters (both great, but the prawns took the prize) lamb cutlets, Guinea fowl, brill (turbot) and dumplings for the mains. Everything superb per expectations. The sourdough bread is perfect. The house red also perfect. What can I say… we had high expectations and all were exceeded.

Gorgeous venue, brought my mum and boyfriend here for mid week dinner. Had one of the best pieces of fish I’ve had in my life. But service was a little lacking, drinks coming late, generally slow even though food service was quick m, like they were resting on their laurel, perhaps?

Based in one of the wings of Sommmerset house, Spring could so easily have been a run of the mill F&B outlet catering to the West End crowd. Instead, it the restored 19th century Drawing Room, Skye Gynell (formally of Petersham Nurseries fame) and her team have created something really special. Working closely with biodynamic farm Fern Verrow to bring the UK's best produce to London, this is expensive, elegant and dripping with a style. We had the 'Scratch Menu', a zero waste menu, changing daily and with limited available - Tuesday to Saturday between 5.30pm and 6.30pm and is limited to 30 guests per evening. At £30 per head, this is an excellent value for the space, and their ongoing work with Food Waste charity Felix Project shows their commitment to this area.

The restaurant is beautifully and effortlessly elegant, nestled in a wonderfully historic building that offers other options if you want to make more of your day out. The wait staff were attentive, respectful and polite which is a 10/10 for me. As for the food, whatever your choice I’m sure your tastebuds will thank you for it, although I’d certainly recommend the roast potatoes for sides selection. They are unlike anything I’ve ever had before and they’re quite exceptional, and I’m very funny about roast potatoes! For drinks … do try the Rhubarb Sour. Enjoy.

With the passing of the equinox a new season is in early bloom. The soothing, calm decor of the dining room is impeccable, and only surpassed by the explosion of flavors that made for one of my most memorable meals in a long time. Highly recommend it!

Beautiful setting and the food was great. One of my guests had an issue with the waitress who didn't understand that she wanted the vegetable dish and kept on asking her for her main course choice. But overall it was a lovely meal.

  • 4/5 Travelling D. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful interior with with an airy room with high ceilings. Slightly cramped layout in the middle of the room. Opted for the lunch selection- down side: no choice unlike most restaurant with two or three items per course/ also no vegan or vegetarian option - single dishes offered per course. As the lunch option looked less than interesting- we ordered the bread and the meat selection as a per 1st course. Bread was good and meats were average. Cocktails was good- nice twist of the usual classic but did not have the coffee infused whiskey which two in the part ordered. The waitress who serves us was abrupt, miserable and always in a rush and therefore dropping items when clearing the table. Food was good: the beetroot soup: excellent, onglet: food, was more rare then medium- rare and the accompaniment of veg was disappointing. The desert of rice pudding and goose berries didn’t take out fancy so we ordered one to share- turned out to be quite nice.

Spring has been on our list for awhile and we weren't disappointed. After some initial issues with Sevenroom booking system all was sorted. Room is stunning and spacious, staff is friendly and professional. Fun mix of customers from those looking for value meal to others rather posh/trendy having the whole menu. Wine list has good range of price points. Food is rather exceptional. I tried the £30 scratch menu and it was both creative and delicious. My husband did À la carte and cleaned his plates (for him that means excellent). His pork was a rather massive portion. Our main server/manager was a lovely woman from Italy who paid us extra attention. She's so sweet. Already booked next visit...

Food and surroundings great, only slight negative is that with the height of the room the noise level is magnified rather than muffled but ignoring that the food choice was wide and would please most people. Not cheap but standard sort of prices for an operation of quality in London, staff are of course very ready to help and if you have any requests happy to try to help (I do not like Chickpeas so they asked chef to provide alternatives)

Visited Spring for a weekday lunch. Smart and friendly service, airy and pleasant surrounds. The food was finished exceptionally well. Sea bass and spiced sweet corn puree was a great combination. Every course that I had was delicious. Granted, it's expensive, but at least you get what you pay for here.

Outstanding Fresh Contemporary British Food” The food is simply FRESH and delicious. Everything was fresh, tasty and complemented by good service Spring, in Somerset House, the majesty, the marble, the modernity, the gigantic mirrors. With the ice rink outside, you can imagine how lovely it will look in the dead of winter. The staff have a curious uniform: stripy tops, white rolled-up trousers, like sailors who’ve been sectioned. The chef Skye Gyngell was pacing about – lanky, poetic, perfectionist, were hospitable and competent and professional. Food was tasty and obviously prepared with fresh ingredients just bursting with flavor. Yet there’s much to commend Spring. It’s good to see fine ingredients and the cuisine’s sometimes sour and bitter flavours being used, not excised. And the sommelier did an impressive job of matching wines by the glass to challenging flavours.

Beautiful space, friendly staff, seasonal menu. The mushroom truffle tagliatelle was amazing, you could tell it was fresh made. The fish was great as well. The pork shop taste delicious, although butter on top of a pork chop is a bit too much. The vegetables were great. We will definitely go back, highly recommend it.
