Saw some waterfalls, some wild ponies, some brilliant scenery and a goat. The Dartmoor is a fabulous place. Will see more on this latest trip to Devon. Plenty to do and see for all ages. Do yourself a favour and visit here if you're in the area.

This was an incredibly beautiful park. Seeing the sites up close as well as the panoramic majesty of scenery surrounding is an adventurers dream. The horses and sheep were an additional bonus in an area that is very much best described as Narnia incarnate.

Amazing amazing amazing. This is a must to go to visit. Such an idyllic place to go. Very dog friendly and kid friendly a massive expanse to go investigate. So much to do and experience I honestly can't say enough great things about it. The pubs, parks, walks, views all spectacular!!

Moved to Devon two and a half years ago and have fallen in love with Dartmoor. If you're going to spend any significant time here, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Dartmoor 365,it will point you in the direction of many wonderful sights

This place is HUGE. Got the trains there to spend a few hours there in the beautiful, mesmerising, tranquil countryside. It's stunning scenery stretches for miles. Loved every minute. Thank goodness for Google maps and a very kind passerby to put me in the right direction. After seeing the 9 stone circle advertised on Google Maps had to go on an adventure to see it.

A beautiful place with great walks and fabulous views. Lots of Dartmoor ponies roam around, along with sheep. Please drive cautiously as the sheep do wander into the road. Fantastic sunsets, and if you're lucky, you may even see a simultaneous moon rise as we did during early August.

Your experience and enjoyment of dartmoor really depends on the weather. On a good sunny day everything is clear, you can have enjoyable and easy walks. On the other hand, torrent rain and wind can really make it miserable. Be prepared for both conditions as weather here can change within a blink of an eye.

I've been coming to Dartmoor for 65 year at least. I never tire of it. If you don't like crowds, it's still fairly easy to get away from them for some beautiful walking. Get a decent map (Ordnance Survey) and enjoy the magnificence of it all.

If you love the great outdoors, this is the place for you... There is so much to explore on the Moors that it would take a lifetime. Which is what we plan to do as a family for many moons to come. If you take that leap of faith you can find a trail, find a stream, find an old abandoned mill, find a railway, find a quarry and much much more. The wildlife alone is worth visiting, try and take some carrots to feed the Dartmoor ponies that live there, but be careful... They are for the most part wild! There's sheep, deer, fish and in summer all fantastical types of butterflies. If you haven't already, get your backpack and your boots on and get out there and enjoy it.

A beautiful, natural and historic area with great views, walks, wild animals and landmarks. It can get windy and cold up here, but the fresh air is lovely

So glad to have this just down the road from me! So many great walks to be had across the moors, and a lot of history to be learned. I love finding the old ruins and stone circles, seeing the ponies, and taking photos. Sunny weather is ideal but it's much better when the fog rolls in!

This is such a great national park, amazing for a walk, bike ride or just to explore. The view is incredible, no matter the time of the year/season. However have a jacket/coat during autumn and winter time it can get very cold. If you are lucky enough the ponies and horses will pose for you for cheeky picture or witness the cows jumping or eating and chewing the cud. It's definitely a most see place when in Plymouth, great for all ages 👍 Dartmoor really does have something for everyone; history lovers can explore castle ruins and learn about local myths and legends at the museums or on a guided walk, families have plenty of exciting attractions to choose from, while there’s lots of opportunities for rambling over tors, cycling up challenging hills and staying active in the great outdoors.

You must go. Never been before? There's lots of easy access to beautiful views you don't even have to leave your car before you're greeted by wild ponies. Been a few times but unsure? There's a wide range of walks and activities with forests, rivers, lakes, tors, valleys, pubs, clapper bridges. In the summer you can have a swim in the wild rivers, with the popular spots being close to the car and the less so spots being a short walk. You can scramble and climb on the famous Dartmoor rocks, camp under the stars (make sure to check the laws and areas you can camp on first!), and there's so many free places to park that you only have to walk a bit more from. The beauty alone is worth going. Seriously, you have so many possibilities with such a grand empty space, there's no reason not to.

Dartmoor is an incredibly beautiful location, and it is fat more diverse than many people realise. The main town, Prince Town, and the prison are well worth a visit, but better still, pull on a pair of boots and head out for the solitude of the tors spread across the Moor. The weather can, and often does, change very rapidly on the Moor. Make sure you are well equipped for bad weather. Also, make sure you have plenty of water and snacks when out on hikes.

Love Dartmoor, great walks and the ability to get miles away from any civilisation is great! Challenging terrain, don’t go unprepared if you’re going to head deep into the moor! Weather can be horrendous and change quickly. River crossings are not uncommon!

Very scenic and interesting location, also good for children and dogs. Many Dartmoor ponies, sheep and Highland cattle can be seen. However, the weather has it´s own plans and you should always take a jacket or rain gear with you.

Fantastic, hauntingly beautiful area with ancient rock outcroppings. You could see into the faded horizon. The children climbed the subtle grade and jumped on rocks. Wonder and wander and freedom to your own thoughts.

Love this place so much. Please please don't just go to haytor! There are much better places on either side. And please get out of sight of your car even if just for a little stroll. Cannot recommend more!

I've never had a bad time on the moors, such breath taking views whichever way you look. Going through the little hamlets are beautiful look like the covers on the chocolate dairy box many years ago maybe if just a little better weather there . Can't have everything and to be honest , there's enough.

Can't put into words how stunningly raw and beautiful this National Park is ! You do lots of walking and climbing, and no matter where you turn, the views just take your breath away. My personal favourite view, is from the top of Sheeps Tor, accessible from the circular walk around Burrator reservoir. Would come back here in a heartbeat.

Gorgeous place for a hike, not even that far out of city centre! Wholesome nature by day and very Hounds of the Baskervilles at dusk. Love the wild ponies that just pop up beside you.

Amazing place, really picturesque views and wild animals (especially wild pony’s and sheep). If you want you can climb up the rocks for more fun if you’d like. Definitely worth a visit!

Visited here a few years ago and was impressed how wild and green it looked. It was a sunny day, but noticed a black cloud coming over the tors and soon as I got my camera out, it hammered it down. I've heard about the very changeable weather and it's true. Managed to get a few photos but not many. I seen enough to convince me it's well worth seeing again.

Absolutely Beautiful location to walk, golf or drive around, insane views of the local scenery, plenty of wildlife Inc Horses, sheep and Rams! I drove a 3.5T van across the middle from Tavistock to the A30 Although there was some tight places as to be expected it was safe and an awesome drive.

This was the most peaceful I have found myself for a good time. With always being in a city you can forget that just some silence, fresh air and a good walk can do. I don't know when but I'm defo gonna bring myself here again. Also bring snacks and be prepared to have a big bladder because theres a lack on amenities around here.

So beautiful it hurts. So much to see it is overwhelming unless you are staying for a while. Just drive/walk/cycle and stop when you see something amazing. It won't take long.

Love being here. The peace, the wildlife and the scenery. I just wish drivers would be a little more considerate of the roaming animals.

We recently had a fantastic stay at ' the chapel ' at Lettaford. A landmark trust property, right on the edge of Dartmoor. A really peaceful and quite small hamlet, consisting of four previously working farms. Loads of history and lovely walks, as short or as long as you want. No mobile signal and no WiFi, just a small stream bubbling away next to the chapel.

Bleak, rugged, misty, atmospheric, all words that describe Dartmoor well, but until you visit and experience it for yourself, you won't be able to really know the place. At times when there's no other people or traffic, you would be forgiven for thinking your the only ones left on Earth, it can be that isolated. It is truly a magical place that let's one really reconnect with nature and all it can offer. For one moment, standing still in the swirling mists, silence all around, I was sure I heard the Baskerville hound howling in the distance, truly an atmospheric area to visit.
