My husband passed away 2 1/2 years ago. I've been looking for a jewelry store that could take his wedding ring and mine and melt them down together to create an everyday widows ring. To my surprise not many places in our area was equipped to do that. A friend recommended Jewelry by Design in Woodbridge VA. I called, they could do it, set up an appointment and off we went. I found my inspiration ring at their store and it took approx. 4 weeks to create it. Below is a picture of the final product. I absolutely love it and would highly recommend Jewelry by Design. I needed a family ring enlarged and I found this store simply by searching online. So glad I took a chance because I was thrilled with the outcome. They did a wonderful job of enlarging the ring by three sizes and perfectly matching the millgrain on the band, all for a very reasonable price. I was helped immediately when I walked in and the consult took 10 minutes. The work was done in less than a week. So glad I found this shop and would definitely recommend for all jewelry work.

I needed my diamond wedding band resized that I purchased from a store that does not do resizing. I paid a fair price, but then it was still too big, so they resized it again for me at no extra charge. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They also have some very beautiful jewelry. If I had known about JBD, I would have looked at their beautiful collection of rings first!

Wonderful service. They resized my fiancé’s engagement ring and did a beautiful job for a good price. I also broke my necklace and they fixed it on the house! Very kind and generous professionals. The atmosphere did not feel stuffy at all and I actually laughed quite a bit with Sarah the manager while she helped us. Having pleasant experience with the previous and original owner of Jewelry by Designs, I went to JbD for few services: diamond trade up, GIA diamond certificates and removing a diamond from its setting. Well, I give 5 stars only to their goldsmith (very humble guy). I wasn't content at all with the customer service that I received! I was attended by Yolanda and she haven't seemed knowledgeable to me. For every simple step she had to ask someone else: how to proceed credit card, how to fill a computer form, how much a service cost, etc. Her only good skill was to show me pieces of jewelry that I was interested to see. There was no trade up service fro my HOF diamond, because they do not have trade up policy - that's fine, but I had to leave my $40K diamond in their possession for a week only to find out that (no trade up). My diamond (purchased from the previous owner) was returned to me, but they could clean my jewelry as a courtesy for 1 week waiting. No free cleaning was offered! About the GIA certificates: I was given two different prices for the GIA service. After a dispute the final price for one GIA certificate became $200 + tax. For 3 diamonds I had to pay them $636. For this information (how much this will cost me) I had to wait 1 whole week, because Yolanda couldn't tell me the price, she had (again) TO ASK someone else. I canceled their service and sent my diamonds directly to GIA. I paid $450 as final price. $186 in savings for me! On the top of all, Romeo (who consulted Yolanda about the GIA price) told me, that THEY DO NOT GAIN ANY MONEY FROM THEIR GIA SERVICE, making me feel like a beggar. Sara (Yolanda's manager) refunded my money of the GIA service that I canceled without even to look at me or to apologize for 1 week delay only to calculate a simple service price! My conclusions: They wasted 2 weeks of my time: I had to go 3 times to this store, when I could do my job in one visit. I didn't feel like a valued customer of this store. I didn't like how they calculate their service price (could be this, could be that, depends how much the customer is willing to pay). I do not see them as a professional high end jewelers as they pretend to be!

The gal that helped me with my jewelry put down what she was doing and helped me. She new what my necklace was made of, she picked out two necklaces that I could choose from to replace the broken necklace. She gave me money back for the old chain. The shop was very conscience of COVID-19. In all a very positive experience.

Yolanda was absolutely amazing with helping me get my rings sized. I took my rings in on a Wednesday and she patiently carefully walked me through the sizing process, checking my rings, asking thorough questions, all while engaging me in excellent conversation. She gave me an amazing price to get the rings sized up one size and when she found out we were going out of town said she would try to have the rings done in time. FIVE days later, I picked them up Monday afternoon and they look like new and fit perfectly! Incredible job well done by the jeweler and Yolanda. Will DEFINITELY be using them again for our jewelry needs!!!

My experience was wonderful! As soon as I walked in I was immediately greeted by Kenneth. I told him what I was there for and he took me immediately to what I ended up purchasing. He was very professional yet personal. I will definitely go back for future purchases.

Jon Caro had designed my Mother in Law's wedding band, which my wife always loved. The wedding band was beautifully wrapped around the engagement ring. My wife and I went to him with a very specific vision for our wedding bands hoping he would be able to make them, and he did. Jon is the most talented and skilled jeweler we have ever seen. My band is a white gold band with reverse beading around the center which is filled with blue ceramic. My wife's band consists of two bands designed to look as though they are wrapped around her engagement ring and her bands are filled with blue sapphires. Thank you Jon for making our vision a reality!

The gentleman that helped my fiancee and I pick out our wedding bands was great. He kept our budget in mind, took care of her first by utilizing her engagement ring's design to find similar styles that would fit well, and then he was able to find a ring for me that was right up my alley. We were in and out within 30 - 45 minutes, and didn't even need to be fitted because they had the sizes in shop. Really good, quality service and very affordable prices for wedding rings. I bought a 14k gold chain for my husband from Ken, there was a slight problem, but Ken helped me and issue was solved to my satisfaction. Love Jewelry by Designs, I never have to worry about the quality of the items, and the people are the best.

So these type of stores just don’t exist anymore. People who actually remember your name and face. Who won’t charge you unnecessary amounts just so they can make a buck off of you. I rarely write reviews because honestly I just don’t have the time… or I say I will and then forget to… but because I know these stores are facing competitors like online jewelry places, or the typical jewelry company like Kay’s or Zales I thought maybe a review could help guide people who actually wanted a live person experience instead of someone just being a salesperson. I cannot thank Ken and Angie enough for helping me with my watch that needed some adjustments and gave me some tips on how to upkeep it. Not a huge sale for them, but they treated me like I was just as important as someone there about to spend thousands. I will definitely be there again when I need some advice on my watch or when I need to tell the husband where to go to get my next gift. Thanks so much guys! So so so appreciate it.

The service is always consistent and they lead a really good team over there. They were able to address every issue I had in one visit since I brought all the jewelry and had to get some replacements. They were very clear on cost and time frame from the beginning and it was consistent.

I will have wait until my pieces have been completed before I can give a complete review. However, first impressions are 5 star!! Angie gave me her full attention during this first visit so that she could understand what I wanted. I cannot wait to see the final products!

Outstanding customer service! My son used their service to fix the spring in his gold chain's clasp. Shortly after picking the item up, we noticed a slight dent and brought it to their attention. The Jeweler went out of their way to ensure we received the best service and even exceeded our expectations by fixing one of the pre-existing, very weak links on my son's chain. We are beyond satisfied and would recommend this location!

Both ladies at this wonderful store were amazing. So kind, so thoughtful, so very helpful. My moms jewelry ever looked so good! I was very happy with the lovely results. Brought my wife’s ring in to have some crowns fixed. They told me it would be like a brand ring. Was not disappointed, great staff and business.

I always go here, but today will be my last time using their services. I brought in my engagement ring, wedding band which is soldered together. Along with a bracelet which I asked for an extra security clasp to be added on to it along with a necklace. All items I wanted appraised. I was told the rings would be priced separately, so 4 appraisals with a clasp charge $576. Which sounded a little excessive but figured I always go here so this must be the best price they can give me. I get a call later where they wanted to charge an additional 150 because the detail of my bracelet and necklace. Ridiculous, now I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I checked other jewelers and they charge 100 per appraisal, but this company starts at 95 per piece. I told them cancel my order and was told they already started working on the ring, so I still have to pay for that. Which they shouldn't have done until they had confirmation from me regarding change of price since I already paid in advance. They are canceling the appraisal on the bracelet and necklace. Their sales associate quoted me wrong but how is that my fault obviously the cost determine if I am going to use their services. 9 years of going there and they couldn't honor the price for a long time customer not to mention military veteran. Shaking my head. Just lost my business and will share my story with everyone.

I had a Cartier watch that needed fixing and I took it to 5 places. I finally hit the jackpot coming to jewelry by designs because they said they can definitely take it and fix it. This wonderful woman Mical helped me and she told me that it would take about a month. About a week and a half later I get a call and it’s already done! She was very quick and extremely nice. I love Jewelry by Designs! We have been doing business with them for years! The staff is friendly and extremely attentive and helpful. We have been pleased with the quality of the repairs as well as the design of new work.

After speaking with Katy I wish I could GIVE NO STARS but Ms. Katy who definitely did not want my business nor did she want to marginalize me as she kept insisting that she didn’t want to offend me, because she knows good and well that by continuously stating these words attributed to her bias tone that that’s exactly what she was doing. In school we learned it as “implicit offense”… where you warn before you offend (smh). So I went to get an appraisal on an engagement ring. Before she would assist me she readily let me know I was already wasting her time as Katy claimed she’s normally swamped with appointments, however, today on my visit she had time to help me (so I thought) Again, stating she would attempt to help me (if she could). Upon her 2 second inspection she stated “I don’t wanna offend you but we dont buy rings like this” and that my ring couldn’t be sold in her store because of a certain style of ring setting which my ring is a (bar/channel) style. Katy stated that she couldn’t really give me a round about offer, and that she could only weigh it and give me the weight worth which was $143 estimate cash price stating that my $5500 platinum ring was only somehow “only good for melt down scraps”, suggesting at that time the appraisal would cost $150. With the receipt in my purse showing paid over $5k for the ring, I immediately knew that Ms. Katy took me for a complete fool. During the 10 minute visit with Katy she was brash, showed no valuable interest what so over as she sized me up looking at my Louis Vuitton earrings and purse , and basically gave me the I don’t wanna offend you line at least 10 times throughout the conversation, letting me know she did not want to be seen talking to me, not give me any reputable insight or information besides melted down to scraps… The pawn shop across the street offered me $1500 before I even set foot in Jewelry by designs. I RECOMMEND maybe take your business there (pawnshop) where diversity is a win and. they were very welcoming and treated me with common decency and didn’t hide any information based off my race! Sorry Katy I don’t want to offend you WITH THIS REVIEW OF YOUR PER USUAL !!!! But your attitude towards me and your plastic demeanor was trash and you made your company look discriminatory and bias in their practices. I’ve sold jewelry here before but I WILL NOT BE BACK!!!

I have always been greeted as soon as I walk in. The A++ service from various staff members has been an exceptional thing to feel and witness. You don't see or feel it often so the “ white glove” service I receive makes me keep coming back. Even if there are other places. The price and service have not been beaten. The quality of all the work I have gotten has been so high. I am considering having a custom piece built from scratch. Jewelry by Design is our trusted jeweler! We were a little worried when the store was sold but those worries were unfounded. We actually travel from Maryland to shop there and have our items repaired. Amanda did an awesome job helping me find a pair of gold hoop earrings. I have never felt pressured to buy anything or to purchase another service. Although I have made purchases in the store! The quality is over the top and I have no doubt the pieces will be my family's heirloom pieces. The store is clean and maintained, I have never noticed dust build up.

UPDATE: 8/8/23. Spoke with store owner and she explained the lengthy process they go through to ensure their estate jewelry is perfect. While 2 months is quite long, apparently 4-6 weeks is common at this store. That’s good news for us estate jewelry lovers! I’m looking forward to seeing more estate jewelry in the cases soon. GREAT: Lovely items and incredible team of employees. IFFY: The process to consign at this location is slow. It’s been 2 months from initial meeting and my items are still not out for sale.
