Welcome Gym Cheltenham

Gym

👍 Been using this gym for about a 18 months, great facilities! My only complaint and I genuinely hope this is considered because I think it would be good for business- is that it is not open 24/7. Many people work 9-5s on Saturday/Sunday and are unable to get to the gym for a workout. Or even staying... People often mention staff, friendly, good, classes, equipment, gyms, people, recommend, price, weights,

Good price but that’s the only positive. The gym is filthy and just smells and you rarely see the trainers cleaning - I realise it’s a gym and isn’t going to smell like a spa but it just smells like stale sweat and would be better if it was cleaned properly. Equipment is okay but no weights order or signage it’s just a mess. Management is friendly and professional but some of the other staff are not and it’s quite appalling; no one seems to take pride in how the gym is presented or it’s cleanliness. Overall I wouldn’t recommend.

Paid the place a visit to see the equipment kit. The registration process at the entrance sounded doggy as it looked like gathering data from people. The assistant who was there got me in and was walking in front of me by a metre or two and speaking about the gym quickly like if he was in an ultra rush and just wanted my visit to end - that's if I could understand what he was saying even, with him projecting his voice in the opposite direction from me. I needed to tell him that I want to check the equipment kit for myself and see which machine was for which muscle group, and he was like, "like what?" !! When I asked him if I could just sit on one of the machines and try its motion to see how it clicks with my muscles, he said I couldn't do that! When I asked if I can try the gym for a session, he said the gym doesn't offer a free trial days. Now after all of that, give me one single reason that would make me come to the gym or recommend it to others??? When people who have zero-knowledge in marketing and customer attraction open a business!

Large gym with excellent range of equipment including rowing machines. Staff are nice, price is likely the most reasonable in town (£7 for a 24hr pass beats the leisure centre). Leg extension machine is curiously uncomfortable. The toilets/bathrooms aren't very pleasant - good to have a free to use sauna but the air conditioning in the locker room isn't enough to cope.

I’ve been attending gyms on a regular basis for a very long time and this one is by far the best I’ve used. There is a wide variety of high quality fitness equipment, fitness classes are run every day and personal trainers are on hand if you want to invest in a focussed training programme. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It’s good to see a diverse clientele, people of all ages, ethnicities and background. There is an easy, cost-effective, straightforward membership too. The app is great and you can access a huge variety of classes online from there. I can’t recommend it highly enough. If you’re not a member you’re really missing out.

Local gym. Dated equipment but there's all yo need for a normal workout. Lots of cardio stuff. It gets very messy with people not putting away their weights after use. In a small local gym where people seem to know and chat to staff regularly, I didn't expect this to happen. Locker and shower facilities are again dated but fit for purpose. For the price, it's good, but don't expect Lloyds club.

Great gym, friendly staff, friendly members, all major equipment you would need for the average weight lifter and gym go-er. Treadmill, Eliptical, rowing machine, bikes, isolated muscle machines, multiple full sets of free weights, multiple benchs, multiple squat racks, showers and lockers.

Great gym, reasonable price, nice vibe, helpful staff, EXCELLENT classes! I love anything Gabi is doing! I'm finally starting to love exercise! Great if you're not confident in what you're doing so avoid gyms, because they'll guide you all the way.

Gym opening hours are 8am-6pm weekends, yet predicted next day usage on the app does not reflect that, making me think, is the predicted usage even real?

I’ve been at this gym for a good while and to say I’m gutted that it’s closing is an understatement. It’s perfect for where I live, quick 7 min on my bike and has all the equipment that I need. A friendly good feel place, where I can just zone out…my get away. It becomes a little part of your life. There’s so much competition now with gyms and even though you have 24 hour gyms with the latest equipment etc etc I enjoy welcome gym. It’s got all that you need. I will stay a member till the end, and then unfortunately will have to become a member of another. And just to say thank you to you all, and wish you all the best for the future xx

Really good gym overall! I do feel compared to other gyms, they’d benefit from more benches for free weights and mirrors around to check form etc

So far so good! I've been to two classes, both of which have had really friendly and helpful instructors which have helped to make going to the gym a less daunting experience.

I’ve been training here for a few weeks now and it has become my favourite gym in cheltenham! Everyone is super friendly and the location is really convenient too. I also really like how the gym is laid out as it means I don’t have to walk from one side of the gym to the other in between sets! The ladies only section is great too, it’s a nice place to practice exercises I’m less confident at before I do them in the free weights section. Super pleased to have found this gem and will be here for a long time 😁 💗

As a very reluctant participant I was prepared not to like anything. I'm not a fit young thing but was made so comfortable. I will go back once I stop aching (unfit, not tortured)

Great gym to join with! Staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help when needed. Very affordable and offers plenty of classes to attend included in the membership price.

I have been a member of this club for nearly 10 years. I have always found all staff to be very helpful & professional. The facilities have expanded during my period of membership. This gym is extremely good value & is in the centre of Cheltenham. Other gyms may be available BUT be prepared to pay a lot more for membership.

  • 4/5 Michael F. 2 years ago on Google
Still insisted on charging me £10 joining fee after returning after pandemic. But still only £19.99 month for basic membership. Weights, cardio and classes all available. Changing rooms, lockers and showers included. Remember to bring your own medium sized padlock for lockers.

Been using this gym for about a 18 months, great facilities! My only complaint and I genuinely hope this is considered because I think it would be good for business- is that it is not open 24/7. Many people work 9-5s on Saturday/Sunday and are unable to get to the gym for a workout. Or even staying open until midnight on weekdays, I think you’d be able to sway a few people from your competitors.

I have been a member of Welcome Gym for a year now and thought it was about time I wrote a review! Over the years I have been a member of at least five gyms in Cheltenham but this is the first one that I have attended regularly. The main reason is that the staff are knowledgeable and friendly and from the start took an interest in my progress. I was shown round the gym by Cheryl and immediately felt welcome and safe as she was very friendly and reassuring, as sometimes gyms can be intimidating places to enter on your own. I especially liked the separate ladies gym where I tended to go for the first few weeks. However I quickly grew in confidence and I now spend most of my time in the main body of the gym, as it is spacious and there is such a friendly relaxed atmosphere. I started with a personal trainer called Gabi to get me motivated and she certainly put me on the right track with a helpful regime and advice on the type of exercises that were appropriate for me. She inspired and encouraged me to attend classes which I had never done at any of the gyms before! I felt comfortable enough to try and have never felt embarrassed or intimidated by any of the staff or other clients. As a result I regularly attend the gym and especially love the classes which are great fun. I have lost nearly 2 stone and I’m fitter than I have ever been. I also have a new set of friends and know that there will always be someone to talk to whether its staff or fellow clients. I also think it’s fantastic that everyone is welcome – all ages, all abilities. Just before lock down the staff were determined in their efforts to keep the gym safe and open – cleaning machines and equipment every 30 minutes and encouraging us to do the same after use. I admit I was a little anxious about returning after the lockdown but have been impressed with the changes the manager and staff have put in place and their dedication to making sure the gym is clean and safe. I would like to thank the staff for their support and encouragement and would not hesitate to recommend the gym to others.

Small but very conveniently located gym. Clean and welcoming. Especially Gabi, she is always so friendly and very approachable (which isn’t all that common in a lot of gyms). I took one of her classes and she really makes people feel at ease and comfortable, which for a newbie at the gym was a god send! Great value for money & if you can join one of Gabi’s classes make sure you do!

The gym is well equipped, provides a varied range of classes, a ladies only space and a central location at a reasonable price. The staff are friendly and always happy to help. I joined this gym last year and it has been a great experience. Training with Gabi Greenwood has not only helped me achieve results but also changed my outlook towards health and fitness in a positive way. Would surely recommend!

I have been using welcome gym for years and i highly recommend it to anyone looking for a membership. Not only do they have fab equipment and workout spaces but they have excellent staff who are super friendly while still maintaining good hygiene and cleanliness within the gym. I cant say i know a huge amount about weight training, so was very grateful to be given tips and advice about posture and how to correctly lift weights safely from the staff on shift who delivered the information fantastically and didn't make me feel silly for asking!! An all round fab gym, again would really recommend!!

😠 Awful customer service. Arrived to book in for swimming with four children and was told the price and where to go. I asked how long they would have and the receptionist said an hour. In the pool for all of 10 mins before 3 members of staff told us to get out. There was a miscommunication about what...

👍👍 I've been a member here for 2+ years now. I give it 5 stars for having a lot of kit and being open 24/7 via a coded entry. It's also inexpensive, staff are always friendly, and the clientele are all very relaxed. Never had an issue.

😠 The gym is fine and the staff are great, really friendly and helpful. It's the company that is the problem. After you cancel your membership they will hound you for extra payment and the HQ customer service is awful. Do yourself a favour and find a gym run by a company that respects its customers.

😠 I’m giving 1 star for cleanliness and 1 star for good equipment. However, I cancelled my membership today as the gym is almost always packed. I don’t understand how the capacity is around 160 people as the building is not big enough for this (on the app it shows as 31% with 50 people). Even with 40-...
