Visited during Easter hols. Lots of parking. Pleasantly surprised by how clean the whole Zoo was..not a spot of litter anywhere! Lots of staff and volunteers on hand to give info when needed. Restaurant busy but served fairly quick. All staff friendly and wearing a smile which really makes a difference! Enjoyable day.

My wife uses a mobility scooter, on this occasion we hadn't charged it sufficiently and it powered down. Luckily we were just inside the zoo. I spoke with a chap at reception who supplied us with a wheelchair and stored ours securely during our visit. Extremely helpful and pleasant, I think his name was Jamie. Just for information, the zoo is particularly hilly and has several inclines, only the most robust of mobility scooter would cope with the terrain. We enjoyed our day, ate in the restaurant and once again the chap that served us was very pleasant and helpful. The food was good too.

It was a nice day out however we were slightly disappointed by the lack of animals. A few of the enclosures were empty with no sign of why, whilst others were empty with signs stating that work was being done. This was fine. The fact that the park is so big and hard to navigate made the day slightly more frustrating. The guide (map) was £3.50 on the way in which is a clear money making scheme and there were no maps on the way around to see where we were or where we were going. We ended up walking up dead ends, away from all the animals and this was extremely frustrating as someone who is 8 months pregnant trying to make the most of the school holidays with her children. We missed a number of animals simply because we couldn't find our way to them. Yes we could have bought a guide, but £3.50 for something you throw away when you get home, on top of the price of food and tickets, was unreasonable to me. Other zoos I have attended provide these free on the way in and provide maps whilst navigating the area. Ice cream was overpriced, but to be expected for an attraction area such as this. Gift shop is located on the way in and way out, another clear money making scheme however the items in the gift shop are nice and have a good range. There is a lot of walking included in the visit and a very small amount of it is flat, this is something people should be aware of if walking or in mobility scooters as the land is sometimes uneven. I'm very unsure if I'll be attending this zoo again as I have found others that are more beneficial and animal focused.

Thi was the worst zoo we have ever been. It can get reward for being the most empty zoo ever! We walked and walked to see animals but we could hardly see just few animals there. There were posters of animals, pics sculptures, decorations but animals! It was such a waste of money and time in Torquay! Our kids also were disappointed as much as we were. I do not recommend going! ***We enjoyed seeing flamingos at the entrance though***

Fantastic place to bring the family. We arrived as soon as it opened and could easily have kept the children entertained all day. There's so much to do and lots of different play areas as well. There are many diverse animals to see and lots of great information about them all as well. If you're visiting Paignton I would definitely recommend a visit.

Very well designed obviously with the welfare of the animals first and foremost. Easily spent 5 hours there with the 8 year old who loved it. Facilities were great, lots to do and see and food was good too. Picnic areas and places to sit down en route throughout the site. Well worth a visit and worth the price.

Amazing day with family , and couldn't done it with out mobility scooter there was lots of hills lots of walking for the others. Unfortunately due weather lot animals was hiding can't say I blame them. Lots changes from time I remember sadly few things was closed. It was great day out but I wouldn't go again . What is great though you can higher out mobility scooter but must phone them £20 deposit and £10 to higher. I would recommend if you struggle with walking as it big place to get around. There no way I would of able do that on foot. It was good to be out with the family we haven't done that since the lock down . Staff was lovely and friendly 😊 very helpful. Good experience and the family really enjoyed it .it definitely all day thing so you do get your moneys worth .the Restaurant was not bad prices . Though we took our own pack lunch. Plenty tolits and drink places to sit . Great day out .

Surprisingly spacious zoo with so much to do and so nicely laid out! The zoo itself was super clean too and we went on a busy weekend. Make sure you bring your walking boots though as it is super hilly but well worth the trek!

This trip was my first visit since Duchess the elephant passed away in 2019. Before that I used to visit almost weekly and take a stroll around the zoo. 4 years after my annual membership comes to an end, I visit again, however, this time I was more disappointed than happy. A lot of sections were closed off for renovation -which is great for the animals - but i think the list of animals that we couldn't see would outweigh the list of animals that we could see. We stopped in the restaurant for some lunch. Possibly a little over priced but it did taste good. Overall I think Paignton Zoo is an expensive day out. If you plan on making a family trip, I'd recommend bringing your own picnic to save on costs and booking tickets in advance. Positives: the car park is extremely big and free. Walking around the zoo is great excersize. The renovations shouldn't take too long to finish and the animals will have nicer enclosures :) I wish Paignton Zoo all the best.

Getting to the Zoo was no problem at all after arriving at the booked time slot. It was fascinating to see the different types of animals in their almost natural enclosures. The information boards were packed with key facts and information to provide insight to what the animals eat and what are like out in the wild. We spent the whole day here which was good considering how much you are paying to gain entry. Would advise bringing a picnic but beware of the seagulls. All round good day out for two.

What a disappointment! My experience at Paignton Zoo was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the lack of parking was a major inconvenience. Although I now understand that parking is not included in the ticket price, it is essential for many families like mine. If the zoo continues to accept admissions without addressing the parking issue, it will create further frustration for visitors. Secondly, I was extremely disappointed with the number of animals we saw. Many paddocks were overgrown or resembled construction sites. It felt like we were visiting a diggerland rather than a zoo. Even though my kids were admitted for free, the overall price of admission was not justified by the limited animal sightings. It was a complete waste of our afternoon. I sincerely hope that Paignton Zoo takes immediate action to rectify these issues. I understand the need to maintain and develop the park, but not at peak season. It is crucial for them to improve the parking situation and ensure that visitors have a better experience with a wider variety of animals. I truly hope that they can get things back on track sooner rather than later.

Very quiet on a Friday morning into early afternoon visit. With just young families and the odd members walking around it felt like we had the place to ourselves. All the animals were visible and we saw all the new arrivals since our last visit. We also had lunch in the restaurant which was quick and convenient.

Great Zoo! My disabled wife, teenage son , teenage daughter and I visited the zoo on 23rd October and discovered Paignton Zoo really cares about their animals and their customers. We booked tickets online as requested and arrived at 12.30pm there was plenty of free parking but be advised the Zoo is on the side of a steep valley which if you have a self propelled wheelchair, like us, is going to be challenge. When booking online and providing you supply proof, one carer can be submitted free of charge, which I thought very generous. We entered the Zoo and discovered really helpful staff who offered us the opportunity to rent an off-road electric scooter for just £20 for the duration of our visit. We also had to pay a £20 deposit which would be refunded when we returned the scooter undamaged. We were in two minds whether to take this offer but this turned out to be a great investment as the hills were steep and the paths were long. They also provided us with a map marking out the routes and attractions available via scooter or buggies. There was a real focus on making disabled customers and families with buggies/prams welcome in all areas of the zoo. Toilets and refreshment stalls were dotted around the zoo keeping kids happy and the animals and attractions were accessible for all to see. Even though maintenance was taking place all animals were accessible, bar the giraffes. Apparently, they had a wild time the night previous and just couldn't face dealing with the public with hangovers.. we've all been there! The zoo wasn't over crowded, there was no waiting in-line for anything even though it was quite busy. Food was lovely and we all had a really good time. We would definitely recommend a visit and don't forget to leave a donation as they get no financial support from the Government.

The facilities staff were very friendly and helpful. Some of the zookeepers appeared unapproachable but it was a long hot summer day. Lovely zoo with lots of enrichment in the enclosures. Great to see natural behaviour Good for all ages. Gift shop had some lovely trinkets in. Easy parking and lots of toilets and refreshments spaced out throughout.

Medium sized zoo with ample parking especially disabled parking. Friendly staff Currently there are a lot of enclosures that are shut or not there at present. It can be quite hilly especially if you fancy hunting for the giraffes! Wheelchair accessibility is good all around the zoo. In places it looked like a building site

I find the best time to visit here is during the winter on a weekday. Best chance of getting the photos you want and the best idea for those who want a little peaceful visit to the zoo. I visit once a year or once every 2 years... Lovely place to visit 😊

Fantastic Zoo with fantastic enclosures. We went midweek and the zoo was quiet enough to enjoy at a pace we liked. Having the mobility scooters for hire was absolutely fantastic, it meant I could ensure the experience with my children without worrying about the repercussions later. The food was lovely and had great portion sizes. Overall a fantastic day with very helpful and attentive staff.

Overall an enjoyable visit, certainly easy to spend the whole day here which we certainly did. One of the best aspects of this zoo was their was many Lego animals which was very enjoyable to look at. Wide variety of animals to see and at the price was worth the value. Wouldn't come again for a couple years though certainly too many birds for my liking and with everything going on with Covid it makes it more difficult and attractions are closed. All in all if your in the area and need a day out to amuse you all day this was certainly worth doing and will be enjoyed by all ages.

One too many empty enclosures for my liking and better signage on pathways would be appreciated. But that said! Island restaurant was clean and comfortable to sit in( no charge for the company of the zoo cat) food pricey as are all zoo's but plenty of well kept picnic areas all around the place. Take your time and go round more than once as you will miss some little gems the first time round.

A great place to visit when in the area. We were staying in Torquay for the weekend and visited Paignton Zoo on a Sunday morning. There were lots of animals to go and see, including the indoor section where reptiles and birds were. They have a huge cafe area which has picnic space too. They make a great coffee!

Lovely zoo with many interesting animals. Some good improvements being made to some enclosures with animal welfare being focused on. Good access for those needing, good to book a scooter beforehand, with good instruction on areas to avoid. Lunch options cater for most tastes with a number of cafes scattered around and the main restaurant well placed.

It is a lovely zoo to walk around, be prepared for a good few hills though! Some of the enclosures look overgrown making it hard to see the animals, but on the other hand they look lovely and natural for the inhabitants. There were at least three play areas and plenty of picnic areas to stop in. Can't wait to come back again

Lovely day out. But can't help but feel the zoo is lacking somewhat, lots of empty enclosures, and things being moved. Kids went free which is good, can't say I'd be overly impressed if all paid full price. Staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming. Will probably wait for news of new animals before returning.

Had a great day at the zoo,the weather wasn't on our side but it didn't hamper our day. The hills can be a little steep but there are benches to rest on. The food is ok but recommended taking a packed lunch if you're on a budget

Plenty of parking. When we arrived the car parks were already almost full but the reception was clear and plenty of covid safe information everywhere. There was plenty of animals to see and our favourite was the incredibly friendly goats and sheep, who loved some attention. The staff throughout the park were inviting, friendly and happy to give information about the animals. Some of the directions were a little confusing but that just meant you found some gems on your adventure.

Our second visit and I remember why we place this zoo over London and Bristol zoos. Firstly parking is a doddle, plenty to go around and no lines so can get a space you can actually fit a car in. Secondly and obviously there are loads of animals. Great selection of big and small. Tigers and lions are a favourite although mine is the orangutan. There is plenty of variation in ways of seeing the animals which keeps the kids interested. Walkways, bridges, open air enclosures and buildings to walk through. The locations of the animals are well signposted. Be sure to visit the less busy areas like the reptile nursery and parrots, they are slightly off the beaten path. Under Covid we have had to book an entry time, but we could leave at whenever.

We have visited Paignton Zoo many times and every time thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Huge park with lots to see and do, its very easy to spend a whole day here and would recommend minimum half a day otherwise you won't see everything. Can be quite hilly in parts and a long walk between sections so wear suitable comfortable footwear, I believe if needed they also supply on a bookable basis mobility scooters for those with walking or mobility difficulties which is very good. I am no expert (not even an amateur) in animal welfare but all the animals and creatures look happy, healthy and well looked after. Unless you are fortunate enough to live amongst these beautiful animals or can afford to go on a safari or travel the world then Zoos such as Paignton offer the only opportunity many of us will ever get to see these beautiful animals in the flesh. Please support Paignton Zoo and all the other Zoos, Wildlife Parks and Aquariums as much as you possibly can. These places and their beautiful animals and creatures, big and small, deserve our help and support, it will be a very sad world we will live in if we don't help save and preserve their existence. Thank-you Paignton Zoo, all your amazing hard working staff and of course your residents, we hope to visit you all again very soon. ❤

This zoo was significantly larger than I had imagined. We arrived at about 13:30 and easily could have spent the whole afternoon there. Lots of animals to see, the general landscape of the zoo is very pretty and green. During covid the indoor viewing areas were all closed, but there's still more than enough purely outside. I'm not sure where we ate, but the caramelised flapjack was amazing.

Just the place. Staff worked wonders with covid 19 restrictions. Signage everywhere to show one way system where needed. Great time to visit just remember to pre book your time slot. The Great Big Brick Safari the one to follow, download your map to find all the Big Brick Animals. Just some of the animals to find in my photos. Remember to wear your face coverings at all eateries service counters and anywhere else you are asked too.

Before I start - This is our favourite zoo in the country. We visit regularly when we can. We visited today and feel sad that the effects of Covid 19 are showing. Some areas are looking a little tired and in need of some TLC - some areas are still closed and the Train is broken and not running which ATM looks pretty permanent ( cue a very unhappy 3 year old) this is not a criticism but a plea for everyone to show support and visit this wonderful zoo to help raise the funds to get it back to the top. The animals on show are great and if someone can come up with a way to get rid of the bloody seagulls around the ice cream huts that would be helpful. I reiterate this is not a criticism of the zoo or the staff after the hard nearly 18months that have passed.

Had a lovely day out here today, takes around 4 to 5 hours to go around the park to see the animals excluding shows or feeding times. The animals all look well cared for and happy. Some parts of the park are looking slightly run down but looks like they are starting to do the place up a bit. It's worth booking online to save a bit of money. It's quite hilly so can be energetic to walk around.

Lovely place with lots to see. Many animals stayed inside due to the cold which was a shame. Lots of walking which was great. A fabulous day out for little ones too with a couple if decent play parks. No hot food for customers from the cafe though, only hot pizzas for the workmen! Disappointing as they had run out of pasties which was the only thing available and nothing vegetarian either.

We had a lovely time, despite being a chilly winter day, mid-February. It did mean most of the animals were staying tucked up inside in the warm. But we could view them in their quarters, apart from the Giraffes. My 3 year old granddaughter loved it. They are doing renovations for some of the enclosures and public park areas, which I'm sure will be fabulous by the summer. They have some great birds and lots of cheeky apes. I would say the Baboons need to be next on the list for a regeneration. Fabulous, reasonably priced coffee. Caution ⚠️(parents with little ones) The shop with delightful toys is on full view when you enter! Haha Car parking is free.

Pity a lot of the animals were inside their huts as we only got to see about half of the animals. Some of the snack type facilities weren’t open & it was a case of going back to the restaurant for food. Thought the prices in the restaurant were very reasonable. Paths around the zoo were good but be warned that it’s not all on a level ground.

What a great zoo! Lots to see and do. The COVID restrictions weren't too bad. Most of the site was open and we got to see all the lovely zoo. Plenty of free parking. There are hills involved, but the paths were all of very good standard. Food and drinks outlets were clean and tidy.

Lovely zoo and well cared for gardens. We enjoyed the Lego exhibition despite the rain. There was a lack of social distancing in the crocodile house and the queue outside, this needed policing a bit better really as the general public seem to forget about it in all the zoo excitement. A great day out overall, would recommend a visit.

I was happy to visit during the restrictions and felt confident with the one way system that was in place on certain walkways. A keep to the left system is in place while walking around the zoo and it's easy enough for people to follow. There is plenty of signage and pavement signs to help people remember. There is plenty of hand sanitiser available all around the zoo and the toilets have every other cubicle unavailable. Understandably some enclosures are closed to the public but that doesn't take away a good day out.

One of the best zoos in the UK. Really well laid out and amazing selection of animals. As with all zoos the animals never look as happy as in the wild, but zoos do play an important part in conservation and it seems the Paignton zookeepers and staff do take good care of the animals.

I'd have had a considerablely better day if I didn't have to que ages for an overpriced micro latte, and then have to que again in a separate line for hot food. Mcdonalds will be getting my £6.75 My friend (who is more patient than I am) waited in the second que. However, ended up having to choose chips or he'd have to wait longer. I'm not sure if they realise its lunchtime? No wonder the elephant died, if it takes this long to get food. Still scores 3 stars, as you can't bring your own lion

So much to see and do and we visited in the off season. Staff were friendly and helpful. Literally hundreds of hand sanitizing stations. Well worth the entry price to see a huge variety of animals over a massive site. Plenty of places to eat, benches to sit down and play areas and toilets.

Despite covid, this was still a fun day seeing the animals and even quite close to some of them. Shame some areas were closed, but understandable and wanted to help keep them running. Distancing was easy, booking online easy too. Staff friendly as ever.

We arrived to be parked in a car park accross the road even though we noticed that there was plenty of parking in the main car park , so why direct people accross the road before the car park was full was totally unnecessary. So few animals , lots of empty cages , the kids were walking round saying ' another empty cage , another empty cage !!! ' very disappointing ... saw giraffas, and rinhos ... lots of birds, but to much greenery so couldnt see them very well , I understand its nice to have a more natural invironment but you do need to see them as well... The only other thing to do was the train which you had to pay extra for and again a disappointing... lot of money for a overpriced day , and then we couldnt get in the shop due to a hugh queue , but only a few in the shop , understand the need to space out but not very well organised !!

Absolutely fantastic day out despite many areas being closed for various reasons, coronavirus included. A lot of the animals are in nice large open spaces and you are able to get very nearby and up-close. We spent about 4hrs here and despite the rain was an afternoon very well spent. I'm not sure if we just turned up an a good day but all the inhabitants we're very active and friendly. Had to dock 1 star because of parking rage and people taking up 1.5 spaces making it difficult for us to find a spot. (The overflow car park was not in use the day we went)

A zoo doing it's best to survive in current circumstances. Very safe measures, running on half capacity with plenty of signage and hand washing. Some inside areas closed, but had great day out. Booked time slot online a week before and loads of choice. Lego animals were good to see (& easier to take photos of!) Staff were great.

such a lovely zoo, felt very welcomed and had lovely walking routes! loved seeing the animals on a gorgeous weekend. had lovely ice cream stalls dotted around the park which sold drinks as well. family friendly and well kept.

  • 1/5 Lynne C. 3 years ago on Google
Very happy to hear (belatedly) that the zoo will not be getting any more elephants in. These magnificent animals need huge expanses of land in which to roam, and being social creatures (like most animals) would usually be part of a group of elephants - mothers, aunts and youngsters. Hopefully this - not replacing - will also be the case when the lions die off - no more of the animals that are used to savannah-sized areas in hot climates and group interaction, please! It breaks my heart when I go to Morrison's and I hear a lion calling out in the zoo, and getting no response from another of its kind!

Had a really great time at Paignton zoo. We really enjoyed looking round every aspect of the zoo but by far the primates where our favourite. This zoo is not for people who struggle to do hills as it is mainly built up of hill after hill after hill and they aren’t shallow inclines either so bare that in mind when planning to visit.

Very enjoyable day. Saw most of the animals though some enclosures empty. Highlight was the apes. Restaurant reasonably priced. Glad we came.

  • 4/5 Leigh A. 2 years ago on Google
Brilliant day out! Only marginal thing was, it would have been nice to have been informed that the Ape centre gets very busy. We chose not to queue as it was less stressful for us and anyone around us, will bare this in mind next time and get there early in the day. Everywhere else was great, they controlled the numbers, it was very busy without feeling over crowded.

Had such a great day out at Paignton Zoo. We was really impressed with the amount of space the animals have. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our girls age 13 and 3 both had a great day. I would say the highlight was seeing the rhinos up close having there feed. Thank you for a great day xxx

Great day out, we had sunny weather which always helps. Good facilities, lovely walk around the grounds. Not always sure about zoos, but could see a selection of endangered animals & why they are looked after.

  • 5/5 Terrie C. 2 years ago on Google
Had a good day, was very busy in the last week of the school holidays so didn't get to see the Orangutans as they were indoors and the queue was long and slow. Haven't been to this Zoo for years and was slightly shocked the price being £18, but managed to get a good 3 and half hours there. If anyone uses any mobility device (wheelchair/mobility scooter) I would recommend dropping off at the entrance as car park is far up and a bit of a walk. They still have Disabled parking spaces, but if you can drop of at entrance just to make it easier for that person/persons.

What an amazing zoo! Great route around the zoo to see all the animals. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of visiting.

  • 3/5 Michael R (. 2 years ago on Google
A bit hilly, so not good if you're wobbly on your pins and prefer the flat. Bits of it were closed during Covid, including the train which has been closed for months due to "a maintenance problem". Confusing signs point to attractions that are very hard to find or non-existent. The trees would be helpful in hot weather, but there are much better zoos than this one, especially as given the pricey entrance tickets it was poor value for three hours or so.

  • 5/5 James b. 2 years ago on Google

Paignton Zoo is one of our favourite places in this lovely seaside town to visit as a family. It's a great place to take a leisurely walk around taking in the sights and seeing the amazing range of exotic animals. The Gorillas are our favourites, along with the comical orangutans. Definitely worth a look if you are visiting Torbay.

  • 5/5 Krioson K. 2 years ago on Google
Just fantastic, lovely experience, wish not so many animal houses were closed, but was still worth it. I did find the price 18.55£ very stip, specially because not all attractions are open, and some food booths are just closed, despite all that, the animals look well taken care of! Beware of seagulls of you are eating ice-cream they will dive and try to steal it from you.

  • 5/5 Carl S. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely loved it. The Zoo is well set up for the animals they have there. It's well spaced out but it is hilly so if you have a pushchair or a wheelchair with you, be prepared to do some pushing up hill. The Reptile and Desert enclosure's are very good, especially the desert. Plenty of snack bars and rest areas to take a break and also several areas for kids to play as well. I'd say it's the best Zoo or Wildlife park I've been too.

  • 5/5 Louise 2 years ago on Google
We had a great afternoon here. Lots of animals to see. It is quite hilly in places definitely a good walk. Plenty of toilets and little shops to stop and get a drink or ice cream. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are this way.

Excellent visit with my young family today. Wonderful range of creatures to see. Fantastic exhibits, great signage and information boards, lots of friendly knowledgeable staff and keepers around who were approachable and happy to share their wisdom. Good food and drink options at several locations including excellent coffee and ice cream. Also picnic benches and places for picnics etc. Would recommend a visit to others. Only slight downside to note is a very hilly site with lots of ups and downs to see all the enclosures, paved throughout but hard work for buggies and wheelchairs.

  • 5/5 Paul 2 years ago on Google
Very nice couple of hours spent here in July 21, very reasonable entry price, lots of seating if you have to rest a lot, wide clean walkways so wheelchair friendly. Well laid out and easy to get round in aprox 2 hours. Plenty of Toilet blocks and refreshment areas. Would say the gift shop is a little pricey but the money is for the animals upkeep so don’t really begrudge paying a little bit more to help them. All in all a great place to visit whether young or old.

  • 4/5 Julie M. 2 years ago on Google
Although I live locally, I've not visited the zoo for many years. A wet Sunday in February was probably an odd day to visit but we went early & it was not too busy. NB Even if you have a pass, you must pre-book your arrival time at the zoo and adhere to getting there within your selected hour. Also, as with most zoos, you need to prepared to do lots of walking & some hills are fairly steep. Seeing the animals up close is always lovely so please visit and help to support their care

  • 5/5 Rosi P. 2 years ago on Google
Great place for adults and children. We came around noonp, haven't pre-booked tickets however we didn't wait long to enter. The zoo is quite spacious, clean and there are lots of different animals to see. It takes a few hours to see everything but there are some nice facilities on site - cafe, restaurant, etc.

  • 5/5 Kenny H. 1 year ago on Google
Surely one of the best zoos you can visit in the country. Big enough to never feel too busy but small enough to never be too far away from any of the exhibits. We had a lovely full family day here.

  • 5/5 Lorna M. 1 year ago on Google
Really good zoo. Take comfortable shoes though, it's pretty big so there's quite a walk.

  • 3/5 Stacey Y. 1 year ago on Google
We found it a little difficult to find our way around, it took us around half an hour to find the exit!! We had a nice day although we didn't see some of the animals as they were inside (I know animals have a to sleep) but I was a little disappointed that we couldn't see the giraffes, the inside viewing area was closed with no explanation as to why. The animals we did see were beautiful though, gorillas and the baboons were wonderful!

  • 5/5 Ben B. 10 months ago on Google
What a day so much to see. Sat nav straight to the entrance. Parking was a breeze. No cue to get in. Great to see toilets before the entrance. Easy to follow site map, wide paths and many drinks stands around with good coffee, slush and the usual cans and water as well as ice-creams. Fun for everyone and a gift shop to suit all budgets.

  • 4/5 Leah S. 11 months ago on Google
So much to love about this place. However the map is so bad. The pathways are the same colour as the leaflet so you can't see them very well. It's very cheaply done. It was a sunny day so we got to see lots of the animals as they were out sunbathing. Not much to see up by the giraffes apart for the giraffes. Some areas were a bit empty. Like the bird enclosures. But the staff are lovely as always. Nice play areas. Great access for wheelchair use. Although a fair few hills so not much fun for those of us pushing the wheelchair. So excited to see the new lions.

  • 5/5 Lance H. 10 months ago on Google
Took our (nearly) 3 year old here for the day and she had the time of her life. The zoo itself is more like a sprawling lush subtropical garden paradise with animal enclosures dotted throughout. The animals were all well cared for and healthy looking. The restaurant was nice too, offering a cool break from the heat outside. Make sure to take plenty of water in the warmer months! Highly recommended.

  • 4/5 Melissa C. 10 months ago on Google
I am local so I have an annual pass which is fantastic for my 2 year old we visit regularly he loves seeing the animals and the Soft play is great especially on a rainy day as he can run around still. Lots to see enough to make a full day of it. We are gutted the crocodile house has gone now but sounds like lots of new things happening and it's great that we have lions again.

  • 5/5 Deb S. 11 months ago on Google
Really enjoyed Paignton Zoo. Fabulous animals and loads to see. wonderful walkways although quite hilly but you can see other parts from high up! There was a few things closed, crocodile swamp which was a shame and the gorillas were being cleaned out but so much else to see. The sun was shining so had a brilliant time.

  • 4/5 Nicole O. 1 year ago on Google
The zoo was fantastic overall; although some of the animals had been moved due to changes to the enclosures and we couldn't see the crocodile when we went. It is a long walk for small children so I suggest taking a pram or pull along if you want to see all the animals as there are a few slight hills and the zoo is huge. We all really enjoyed our day out and would definitely go again in the future :)

  • 5/5 Faith L. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely zoo have lived here my life and have visited many times unfortunately due to bird flu lots where shut or empty enclosures, I'm thankful that they have set up precautions regarding safety of the other animals and members of the public. Booking information online is very easy, I think they should really tell people what parts have animals and what hasn't on a map of some sort? I do like the new layout of the zoo and some nice play parks have been updated. I cant wait to re visit and see the new additions to the site 😍

  • 4/5 kristy S. 9 months ago on Google
It has over 2,000 animals, however no elephants. The giraffes are my all time favorite, wish we could get up close and personal with them. Very clean, lovely walks on steady paths, great for disabled persons and also offer electric scooters for those that can't quite walk all the way around. The crocodiles have been taken out of the zoo due to power shortage from the weather, but great zoo all in all. Take a pack lunch or a picnic so you are saving on money.

Loved our holiday to Paignton zoo, lots to see and do with the whole family. We went on a day where they had a special off for entry (free child with a paying adult) so it was heaving. There was plenty of facilities spread through the zoo, toilets, refreshments etc. The animals looked well cared for and a huge variety of animals to see. Great day out.. Will definitely go again!

Great zoo. Been to Paignton many times but this was a first visit to the zoo. Great offer of kids go free with paying adult meant we paid £40 for a family of five. We spent three hours there but could easily have done more. Be prepared for lots of walking and some steep slopes. Several enclosures were going through renovation but there were still plenty of animals to see. Would definitely visit again.

Twas a lovely day out, great weather. A monkey so I heard, got lost or escaped? While we were viewing the birds area. Hence they had to close half of the zoo whilst looking for it. Funny scenario when we had to be locked in an ice cream shop “for safety”. Felt like a movie scene lol. Didn’t see much of the animals. Most were resting, some parts of the zoo were closed. We did have proper legs work 🤪
