This happens to be my first, personal zoo visit. It was an indepth experience where each animals detail was place just by the enclosure. I enjoyed the performance from the Seals and Tiger. The zoo has electric scotters for persons with disabilities and a detailed and readable map at all areas. The most exciting part for me was seeing all the animals healthy and lively

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes that are meant for long walks because this place is huge. You can buy the tickets online and skip the lines. They also have kiosks for the tickets onsite that only accepts credit or debit card. But the line for cash payments is long. Bring your mask with you because you'll need to wear them in enclosed spaces in the park. Otherwise, outdoor is great and a mask is not required. There are a few food trucks and water refilling stations here and there. Kids surely enjoy this place.

One of the most amazing zoo experiences i had in Canada where you can see the fluffy Polar bears and several animals that are found in the Arctic region. The Arctic Fox, Wolves, seals are some notable animals. You will also see the Australian Kangaroo in the zoo. The zoo is divided into various regions of the planet with all living beings across. It has a free Zoo Team ride inside the zoo that takes you to all stops. Several spots for the washroom and drinking water and food as well. I would highly recommend visiting with family friends and kids. You have ample parking space in front of the zoo and it's well connected with the public transport of the city of Winnipeg.

Spent 5 and a half hours at the Zoo. Animals were active in the morning. Polar Bears, Seals and wolves were a highlight for our nephew. Had a wonderful time. The dinosaur exhibits were interesting and right up a seven year olds alley. My wife will steal a red panda one day. Facilities were in good shape, signage was fairly informative and volunteers and staff were great.

This is a great zoo! The polar bear and seal underwater walkway is amazing!!! Lots of other animals to see also. Easily walked in 2-4 hours depending on how much time you spend reading the displays. Super fun dinosaur area with animatronic creatures! Easy (and free) parking. We had a very enjoyable time.

One of the better zoo's we've been to in Canada. Its clean, well kept, lots of exhibit variety. You can easily burn an entire day walking around this place. There is ample parking and the zoo is easy to get to. Getting through reception is fast and effective. There's typically volunteers spread throughout the park to assist you if needed. The main attraction is the large polar bear exhibit - the bears seem to be most active in the morning. Some other worth while attractions are the dinosaurs uncovered exhibit, aunt sally's farm, toucan ridge, and the kangaroo walkabout. Tundra grill is cafe near the Journey to Churchill exhibit and offers a great view of the polar bear enclosure while you have a bite to eat. Also inside the Tundra Grill is the Polar Playground - a great indoor play structure for the kids. Highly recommend the visit.

This was one of the most beautiful amazing trip we have had. We are thrilled to see lots of interesting animals for the first time. I highly recommend you to bring your whole family and enjoy the adventure together at Assiniboine Park & Zoo. There are also plenty of activities you can explore inside the park.

The tigress and the underwater tunnel in the seal world are quite a highlight in my view. One star less because some of the viewing glass windows could use a good cleaning to allow a clear view of the animals inside.

Our visit this summer was good, kids had fun and enjoyed different areas of the zoo. They liked the Polar Bear indoor structure. We had trouble finding it since there are no clear signs for it, even though it was in the map. It is located inside the building where the Tundra Grill Restaurant is. There are water refillable stations that spread throughout the zoo. The tram was nice too. The dinosaur exhibit is always a hit. The wildlife rescue was interesting, they had the turtle which the kids found amusing. The polar bears were visible and some wild cats. The seals are always fun to watch. One observation was areas that looks like it should have water for the animals seemed to be dry. Perhaps it is meant to be that way. It might look better if it had water especially when it is very hot and sunny ☀️. The other areas of improvement are the prices of the stuffies for the gift shop. It would sell more if it is reasonable but it is pricey. The visit was indeed a good experience.

Is a good Zoo with many selection of animals from some different part of the world. We had a nice time and walk around the zoo. Not too big but its quite nice place. We had to see the Polar Beer which has an outdoor area. The Sally Farm and The Seal are amazing as well as the Dinosaur Park. Maybe could add some more activities area and more selection of restaurant.

People can enjoy the Zoo year round taking a stroll through the many paths. Watch the many animals, the polar bears entertaining playing or in the water. You can enjoy a picnic and relax to read a book if you wish. There are play areas for children too. It’s nice to get away from work or your busy life to enjoy what is around you. What a delight going to the Zoo Lights on Wednesday December 4/19. The evening temps were perfect to walk along the paths to enjoy the light display. Here’s a peek at the amazing display worth every penny. I just may go again. What a gorgeous night for a walk & admire the lights. There’s Entertainment, games, food & hot beverages to warm one’s inside, heating stations to warm up or fire pits. I had a peaceful evening walk just what I needed to clear my thoughts 🎄💋♥️ February 21, 2021: What a beautiful day, only wore a sweatshirt and summer jacket why not head to the zoo. Lots of ppl & families to enjoy the great outdoors. The animals were also enjoying the sun rays coming done on them. Spring is on it’s way I hope you enjoy your day as much as I did. Xx 💋

All indoor exhibits are still closed even though 25% capacity indoors is allowed by the MB government. Why?? Then it's not worth the admission price to see a fraction of the zoo. If I can go to home depot, there should be no reason to close indoor facilities especially in the winter. Hard pass for me.

Probably one of Winnipeg's best tourist sites. I recently was gifted a membership and find myself using it all the time. The rates for a membership are paid off after only 4 or so visits, and it comes with many other perks. Would highly recommend many to buy a membership with limited activity's during covid times. Feel like going for a walk? May as well go look at some polar bears or monkeys while you do it!

Zoolights event; I loved the feeling of being in a lit up park. The animations and all the decorations that was, the music tents, some dancing and food or beverages of varying choice. I didn't drink or eat the food, but it was a great experience. I arrived late close to 9pm and the music died down by 10, but the park remains open for awhile. There's warming fire pits managed by volunteers for those that get too chilled and need to warm up their hands. For $15 you could easily spend a couple of hours there and be entertained. I'd go again with more company

Glad to have visited this zoo where we saw a variety of animals in particular those from boreal and arctic habitats. Staff are nice and knowledgeable. We visited in the winter spring time and the outdoor pathways have horrible drain system not keeping paths puddle free. Will visit again but not in this season.

Very neat zoo but missing so much, probably because it's winter. Definitely lots of walking just to see a goat at some points...

If you haven't been in a while, the zoo has become so much better over the years. Journey to Churchill is incredible, being able to see Arctic animals either on the land or in the water. The new farm area has a bridge for their 17ish goats and those guys are fun to watch. Overall it's a great experience, I'd highly recommend going, especially if you have kids, a date, or a camera.

Great zoo with plenty of interesting and exciting animal enclosures! Though it’s been a few years since I visited (around 3 years), I remember it being a well put together experience, with animals I haven’t seen before. I went during Winter and there were many snowy animals on display outside, from arctic foxes to wolves and other wildlife. The indoor displays were equally impressive, with a nice stingray pool which you can approach and do some petting as well! A really nice polar bear exhibit as well. The gift/souvenir shop is quite cool as well with a ton of things to buy. Good pricing for zoo admission from what I remember. There are also zoo lights around winter time as well! Highly recommend this zoo if you’re in the Winnipeg area!

Super!!! A very beautiful place. Lots of animals and nice atmosphere. It is better to choose a not very hot day to visit the zoo, then most of the animals will not be hiding from the sun and you can enjoy it. On site you can eat ice cream and have a snack in the cafe. There is also a souvenir shop. Great place for the whole family.

Best part of Downtown Winnipeg if you want to reconnect with nature and the mighty Red River. The river may look tame and tiny but don't underestimate the power of Mother Nature. Enjoy various activities such as fishing and kayaking but don't think jumping in the river on a hot sweltering day will cool you off. No one will be impressed and people will be disguested if you make it out.

This zoo brings back so much memories. They have updated a lot to the place over the years. Glad to see a peacock still roaming freely around. Some of the animals where missing in action. (Unless they could be sleeping) Glad to see the zoo still busy as ever. Would give a 5 star if the attraction where fully stocked or working and up and running.

The size of this zoo is massive and they have a large selection of animals. However I do think some of the animal enclosures are very poorly decorated and extremely small. Monkeys were cool though! The admission price is not bad as well.

Great zoo, but lots of puddles and geese. Many animals are inside or huddled when it's cold out but got to see a few. Good day to see the fossils and robo dinosaurs without crowds.

The new gift shop is nice. The polar bear and seal building, where there is the walk-way under the water, that was nice too. Bathroom at the gift shop was clean. The animal enclosures was kinda sad. Felt for the poor tiger and polar bear and wolf - they looked bored and depressed. Lots of weeds around the walk ways. There weren't many animals and i guess we were there at the wrong time of day. I think the kicker is the price - 2 adults and 3 kids was over $80. Better entertainment value elsewhere.

We love this zoo. Have been members for 5 years and have visited up to 3 times a week when it was the only safe thing to do with our household during covid. My kids learn so much about animals, animal care and knows the names of many of the zoo’s residents.

We visited this zoo on a cooler day and the animals were super active! I think a heated day would have made all the difference as that makes the animals lazy. The monkeys were pur absolute favorite! It seemed as though they were trying to impress all the onlookers. Amd the mom and her little baby monkey was super adorable!

Beautiful Zoo! Polar Bears, Seals, Artic Fox, Kangaroo, Camel , Jurassic Park … to name a few ! So nice to see all these animals . It was a perfect day , it’s not so cold that time yet there are many people, families enjoying the Zoo. There’s an entrance fee and discounted if you are a student . We came late and 2 hours is enough , we were able to see what we want to see altho that time , the 3 polar bears are lazy, one is awake while the other 2 are taking their naps. We waited a while for them to swim but that didn’t happened.

The zoo has definitely become better since years ago, the journey to Churchill is definitely the greatest part of the zoo. Having said that, it still could use a lot of work! There's still a lot of cages empty and some parts feel old and not well kept.

This zoo is beyond amazing. Each exhibit was spectacular. The polar bear habitat was really well done with great educational pieces. The glass tunnel under water was such a great experience to see. The dinosaur exhibit was also great and highly recommend going to. Lots to eat, great prices, lots of fun things for the kids to do.

This year I wanted to go for something less scary for Halloween and Boo at the zoo was a pretty good choice. They did a pretty good job decorating the place while making it a little scary for the kids. Enjoyed it very much. We also got a bucket of mini donuts and hot chocolates, very tasty 9/10 Best past was the 🎡

It was such a great time to visit. Morning animals were all up and about, having breakfast, playing. The polar bears were swimming! The seals put on a show. The gibbons were super active and interactive. The lynx was walking around (only ever saw it sleep). There are still a lot of empty spots. Would be nice if something was done about the big pond enclosure.

We have been to this zoo couple of times they do events at different times like dinosaur, halloween christmas etc and its great. Kids have lots of fun especially with polar bears. There are playgrounds through out the park, butterfly conservatory and bugs zoo is great. Over all in Winnipeg if you were to visit this will be one of the top recomendations for family with kids. Ample parking and washroom. There is a bit of walk so take the strollers they do provide carts, wheelchairs and golf cart rides for seniors. Check out the images and follow for more.

I went to Assiniboine zoo on the weekend and it’s a must visit. It wasn’t really cold so we had a great time their. We saw polar bear who is the center of attraction of the zoo along with so many other animals like tiger, owl, camels etc. you can easily spend 5-6 hrs so plan accordingly. There’s a tundra grill place where you can enjoy burgers, hot chocolate, ham burgers, fries. They have veg options too.

Our family had a very nice trip to the zoo. Lots of walking, my feet are pulsing, but worth it! Would recommend to go on a mild, overcast or even rainy day as, if too hot, the animals will hide and you won't see much. I thought it was well-laid out and taken care of, neat and tidy. Appreciated all the boards with little timbit facts, cool! The volunteers/workers we came into contact with were friendly and knowledgeable. Highlights were the polar bears/seals, gibbon and tiger exhibit and the dinosaurs - best mini donuts ever close by! ⭐

If the polar bears are swimming, you're in for a real treat! Some of the zoo is sure showing its age - but it's still a great way to spend the day! We bought a membership, and definitely recommend going on a weekday or a Sunday as long as it's not a holiday - Mother's/Father's Day were bonkers busy!

A Must-Visit in Winnipeg! I had the pleasure of visiting the zoo in Winnipeg about a month before Halloween and was pleasantly surprised to see the beautiful Halloween decorations adorning the place. The festive atmosphere only added to the overall experience. The highlight for me was the polar bears. I’ve always been fond of them, and seeing so many in one place was truly a treat. But it wasn’t just about the polar bears; the zoo offers a diverse range of animals which captivated my attention throughout my visit.

What a great way to enjoy a nice October day in Winnipeg. Several areas were unavailable due to the 'BOO AT THE ZOO' event that started this weekend and runs til Halloween. (But that fantastic event is worth it) Fantastic enclosure improvements since I was last here. Particularly liked the seals and polar bear areas. The most active other animals by far were the Amur tigers and the monkeys. We also enjoyed an active look at the wolves and arctic fox.

Nice place to take kids to learn about plants and animals, also nice for wedding photo shoots. Good spot for a picnic date. So many things to see and wander about. The park is big so alot of walking will be involved, unless you catch the shuttle service which is a very nice pleasant ride, the driver is very friendly and willing to provide directions. I enjoyed seeing the polar bear. Lots of parking available too.

It is a nice zoo. I prefer going during colder weathers and in the winter as this is when you get to see more animals. They have ample free parking on site. It is a large zoo, so bring comfortable footwear, water and snacks.

I am one of those people who doesn't find going to zoo a fun activity, I can't tolerate watching animals in cage. But this one is worth a visit! It's really impressive, the way they have ensured every animal lives in an environment tailor-made for them.

Wonderful venue set in beautiful grounds did not feel like a Zoo as I am not in favour of them, however they rescue polar cubs who have been orphaned and there are some adult ones too who were brought there as young ones.

Assiniboine zoo is an amazing spot for family outing. You can go for picnic and see a lot of animals at the same time. There are many animals here, including arctic animals, amazing tundra birds, small aquariums, farm animals in summer etc. I have been here a lot of times both in summer as well as winter. In my opinion, during summers the place is very crowded but it does have plus points which are missing in winter. For example butterflies, bug exhibit etc. On the other hand if you go here in winter, there are less people and the volunteers are easily available if you have questions about animals. They have restaurant, shop for souvenirs as well. This place deserves 5 starts, there is always something new going on here. They also have some special days for kids, old people etc. They have separate Churchill area, they also have kids’ play area. You must visit the zoo if you are in Winnipeg. I have tonne of photos, but uploading a few here.

The walk way is great when it was still accessible and not all broken it should be cleaned and put back to what it was before the high water. It is normally an amazing walk way and yes it should be patrolled there is some weird people there sneaking around at times

Lots of weirdos. There should be more patrolling on riverwalk to keep out the questionable characters, drunks, and downright scum. Some male in his 50s was on a bicycle yesterday deliberately making loud noise with his stereo system attached to his bike. Like someone cares about the dumb music.

Really fun Zoo! Visit makes an active and informative day for adults and kids. Polar bear exhibit is the highlight.

Huge exhibits. Lots to see. The two big ticket animals we didn't see though. No polar bears or tigers could be seen. Avoid hot part of the day I think if you want to catch those two. We went from 1-5pm. The dinosaur exhibit on new species was awesome. I hadn't heard of many of them before. The butterfly conservatory was top notch too. On par with Niagara butterfly conservatory.

This review is based on summer visits and Boo At the Zoo. Regular zoo programming has been great everytime we've gone, our zoo is outdated and pretty low key compared to the other provinces. That being said, the exhibits aren't usually very packed and the grounds tend to be reasonably clean and tidy. The Rays were a neat new addition to the current exhibit. Boo at the Zoo was a great time. The set up was engaging and the exhibits were very cool for the little ones. We did miss the live performances and music, due to bottlenecking crowds and general poor etiquette of the crowds taking selfies everywhere. While the tacky crowd behaviour was not directly the Zoo's fault it definitely did directly detract from our enjoyment there. This should be addressed to some degree for future B@tZ, but that aside, this is a great outing for the little ones. I would say those between 7-12 would get the most out of this experience.

I always love the zoo! What a fun adventure! Only wished we could have seen the Polar Bears swimming around!

Went for boo at the zoo. Even though we had a time to enter due to Covid restrictions the zoo was in incredibly full of people. I feel like they should figure out a better way to have a turn over in guests. Our time was 8:30, but I feel like the people with earlier times stayed a lot longer than we were able to. Which made the place that much more crowded.

Great experience. Wonderful zoo. Very friendly and helpful volunteers make the visit so much more. Love the animals. Good tasting food at the Artic Tundra restaurant, where else can you have lunch and watch Polar bears

I love the zoo. This time is was for the zoo lights. So much fun. Allocate 1-2 hours and dress warm.

Absolutely love the zoo! The emphasis is on Canadian animals which is great because it means most of them can actually enjoy the winters here. Highly recommend going in the winter for the best experience, less crowds, and the animals are way more active!

Cute zoo. I'm sure it is busier in the summer. Runs look small for the animals. Dinosaur exhibit was pretty cool. We enjoyed seeing the seals and polar bears. The goats were adorable. Lovely staff who are very knowledgeable.

Always an enjoyable experience at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. So good to see the Polar bears. Although they were not in the water, they were visible through the glass featured walls along the walkway. We saw a beautiful playful display of two seals in the water; definitely a highlight. It began raining hard during our visit. My granddaughter was a trooper and enjoyed the umbrella wagon ride. The Kangaroos were not too eager to get wet so they stayed under their shelter. So cute. There's always a building to duck into to stay warm and dry.

It was awesome experience. This year they added dinosaur park. It's exciting thing over there. We visit every year

Always a fun visit! We ended up finishing our day just at 5pm. We were met in the gift shop by some disgruntled employees who were trying to close the gift shop. Understandable! But clear signage and someone pointing to another exit would have been more helpful.

My daughter and I love going to the zoo. Many animals to see. Zero wait times. We got a membership which is very useful, affordable, more worth while and we get discount at all vendors

Great experience. A very good variety of animals available for viewing, and very knowledgeable staff can be found throughout the Zoo. Unfortunately I went mid day and a lot of the animals were sleeping and harder to spot in some of the bigger enclosures. Also, the Animals of Asia section was closed during my visit.

Great place to spend 3-4hours. Lots of animals to see and learn about them The zoo is nicely laid out, lots of walking with many convinces along the way. We loved eating the polar bear playing in the water and thoroughly entertained by the seals Monkeys are always a delight and seeing the gray wolf was amazing. Loved the visit... Enjoyed the butterfly garden near the end. We'd definitely come back again

People think the zoo is a summer destination. Couldn't be so wrong! The fall, winter, and spring at the zoo are amazing. Seeing the animals out and about in the cooler weather is better for us & them! I've never seen them as active as on a cool winter day. Great family outing, and you can easily make a day out of it or run through it in a couple hours.

We went on our annual family visit to the Assiniboine Zoo and had a great time! This was our 4th year! It was the perfect day to go as the sun was out but there was a light breeze going all afternoon. Seems like everyone else had the same idea though, as it took us more than 15mins to wait for an available parking spot as there was no parking anywhere when we got there at almost noon (yeah we did get there late, hehe). Always a high point for us is seeing the Polar Bears and Seals show off under water, like the one in one of my photos. The Gibbon family is always a treat, especially now they just had a new baby this year! We actually got to see Mr. Tiger active and walking around this year and go cool off in his water pool too! My 5-yr old has been wanting to see the Stingray exhibit again like last year but they replaced it with a Dinosaurs one this time. Fortunately, she wasn't too disappointed and surprisingly she actually knew a couple of the the featured Dinos! Good ol YouTube! Lol! Me and the wife were kinda telling each other that it seems like they have had the same animals for as long as we've been going, hehe. Hope they try something new next year. All in all though, a wholesome experience, as always! I would really recommend going, especially if you haven't been or gone in a while.

Went with my cousins to the park on a Friday. It has been awhile since we went here. Lots of kids due to a field trip so it was pretty busy. It was a really hot day and almost all of the animals in the zoo are hiding so we didn’t see much of them. Although, we got lucky enough to see the polar bears outside playing and wrestling around. It was still a good visit over all. We enjoyed the day there!!

Easy to purchase tickets online and save a few dollars (and skip the cue on a busier day.) Friendly staff and volunteers were all around the park which was lovely. Lots of signage to reorient yourself amidst the enclosures. I went on a very hot day so some.ofnthe animals (Amur Tigers) were a bit shy (hiding to keep cool I imagine.) And I only saw one wolf and one polar bear, which was a bit disappointing, I was hoping to see several knowing how many live at the zoo. That being said, it was a lovely walkabout, with plenty of educational displays surrounding the enclosures. In terms of amenities, it's fairly no-frills. No lockers are available for guests BUT you're welcome to pack your own food and water. There were lots of families with wagons who clearly had the right idea. It could definitely be a lot of walking for young ones or those with mobility challenges, and can certainly be a very hot and sunny day if the weather calls for it. Dress accordingly! Picnic areas were mostly shaded but the rest of the route was full sun so be prepared.

First time to be here. Unfortunately, there are some animals not available, but it is still a good place to explore and unwind. Good for all ages. Just be patient, for it is a long way for walking. There are also snack shops and picnic areas available. All in all, it is a great experience! 🙌🏼

Absolutely amazing place! Exhibits all over, lots to see but that also means lots of walking. However there are free transportation options to get around the park. See the pictures for about a third of what is available to see. Food is pricey and burgers are frozen patties.

A wonderful place to visit with your family. They have student discounts on admission as well. The polar bear experience was the best part of the trip. Loved it

It is a big zoo, different species and areas to visit. You will need enough time to walk through the different areas. There are a few stands selling food. Polar bears and wolves are awesome.

BOO, 07/10/2023 We went to BOO at the Zoo with our grandkids. It was very very good. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and we did almost everything that was available. We had hot chocolate at the tundra restaurant. The grandkids said it was really good. Very good staff and lots volunteers. The price we felt was reasonable for what we received. The parking lot was full but we were able to find a spot. Tips: Make sure dress warm and take mitts and a hat if you are going in the evening. Be prepared to spend a lot of time walking so wear good shoes.

Went for a date night with my wife. Didn't purchase any tickets in advance and was a bit concerned hearing a staff member telling the line to get their tickets ready. Fortunately tickets can be bought upon entry. The lights were pretty to look at, some areas much more well done then others. Some highlights were a very beautifully lit "underwater" area and even a romantic section with some sweet music and mood setting lights. Grabbed some mini donuts which were as good as you would expect them to be. Also got to see some polar bears playing, and a few wolves as well. It was a cold night so be prepared to dress warm enough for the evening as majority of it you will be stuck outside. There was a restaurant indoor section to warm up, as well as a few bonfires set up in some intervals. Taking our time to stop here and there for a few pictures, spent close to 2 hours inside. Not sure if I'd completely say it's worth the entrance fee of about $38 for two, but alot of work was put into it.
