Not too large. Not too small. But just right! This zoo is nicely sized to complete in a few hours. The path winding throughout offers varying views of the animal and enclosure without blocking the animal. If that makes sense…. Would recommend. It was worth the drive from Austin for sure.

Love this zoo! We brought our youngest sons here when they were little and now we get to share it with our grandbabies. There have been a few updates since we were here 10 years ago but overall it was nice to share a similar experience. We also ate at the food court. It would be nice to see some updates to this area. Lines were long and although service was friendly the options are limited.

The zoo was fantastic. It has shaded areas too when you’re walking around so the sun isn’t always directly hitting you. I also forgot my stroller and they had these really cute carts you can rent out I only paid $14 for it. They had so many beautiful animals. I overall loved it and my kids had soo much fun.

What an awesome zoo for young kids. We loved every minute but the highlights were the big cats and the otter slide. Also note the coffee from the food truck just inside was really good. We will definitely be back

This place is a great zoo. My daughters and I have a great experience here. We went in the fall where the weather are like 65 degree and sunny. Cool weather makes it so nice to walk around. This sightseeing zoo is the most beautiful thing with the bamboo all around atmosphere. Very roomy, spacious, playground area, lots of restrooms area around zoo. These animals are active and moving. Pacing back to forth. Most zoo I went, animals are lazy and just sit, laid, sleeping, or inactive. This zoo is shade all around. Lots of animals to see. I think the animals are trained to walk around in that small habitat that they live in. There's a small aquarium and reptiles room too. Over all it's awesome zoo. One thing for sure is, don't wear anything but comfy shoes. It's huge... Wear comfortable shoes to walks in. Not too crowded. We didn't get to see the elephant that was labeled. We saw a very nice variety of animals though. I'm very satisfied with the outcome of this zoo have. I'm likely to returned after they get the penguin area. I'm looking forward to this day. Whenever that is.... Thank you for reading my reviews. If you like or find it helpful, give me a thumb up and like and follow me.

This zoo surprised me, the variety in the wildlife is astounding and not what I expected. All the exhibits are carefully thought out and pleasant to look at. I’m a reptile fanatic so the snakes and lizard variety alone made this trip worth it. Zoo was clean, well maintained, and no animals were living in filth. Size wise it is perfect for a few hours to see and admire everything they have to offer. It’s not overly big to where you will be exhausted seeing everything, has plenty of shade, food, and drink stops so you’ll always have the option to rest nearby. Animals were very happy, the baby orangutan was doing cartwheels, jumping around, and putting on his own little show to us. Will definitely be returning soon.

A very enjoyable trip to the zoo. A beautiful location to walk around and look at all of the exhibits with animals. My children loved the interactive nature of the exhibits and especially the large playground for the kids to play on. Our favorite moment was when the lion roared right in front of the glass and rubbed its face against the glass. Amazing! The zoo seemed clean and well kept.

My wife and I spent a day of shenanigans at the Cameron Park Zoo. I have lived in Texas most of my life and never have been here to this beautiful zoo. Better late than never! We had a wonderful time and matter of fact if you live within Texas and/or planning a getaway vacation I highly recommend this zoo as it's very similar to the world renowned San Diego Zoo with all of its hilly and wooden pathways and buildings. I have been there twice and the Cameron Park Zoo brought back many cherished memories as the orangutan inclosure not included in all of the photos and video is exactly the same as the one at the San Diego Zoo.

This is a smaller sized zoo. It's not super cheap but not to expensive. It takes about an hour to see all of it. They are doing a lot of construction right now. So we didn't get to see all the animals. We hope to come back when it's completed.

The zoo is really shaded and nice. I wish they had an interactive map. I had to call multiple times to find out if they had Cheetah at the zoo and no one seemed to know and everyone was giving me different responses. At the zoo when I inquired about the Cheetah they sent me to the Tiger :-) some staff members were new so I guess that's alright. Someone from the gift shop was very helpful and they went out of their way to help me over the phone to get me to Cheetah.

We had a really nice time. The kids were so excited to be there. I thought they would complain about all the walking but they did the total opposite. Definitely will go back. They had lots of different animals. The aquarium and then the Africa area were really cool. Of course the gift shop was expensive. The food prices were so-so. The parking was really confusing. They had it blocked off at first. We were able to find extra parking in a lot around the corner. There were two signs on that lot that said lot full but it definitely wasn't. We parked there any way. By the time we walked up to the actual zoo the parking lot was back open and there was plenty of space to park. We were a little p-ed off by that. So be ware of that issue. Other then that great place to take your family.

A nice, small zoo with plenty of shade and several inside exhibits to enjoy. The exhibits were small and some of the animals looked sad, but it was 100+ degrees outside, so we all kind of looked sad. Several of the exhibits were missing animals, including the giraffes, which was a bummer. My kids enjoyed the splash pad and playground, but the slide was super slick and my kids go hurt sliding down so quickly.

The Cameron Park Zoo was an extraordinary experience. The exhibits were very diversified. Lions, Bison, Sea life etc. Animals seemed to have very humane habitats and are well taken care of. The only downside was the lack of maps and exhibits such at the ocean life and night at the Brazos being hard to see. The night at the Brazos exhibit was unmarked and nearly missed by my group and others around us. The door appeared to be locked with a pad lock but wasn't upon inspection. The door wasn't labeled as an entrance ether which is a shame because it was an amazing experience. Overall, the zoo was a great day trip and well worth the time spent. Just be sure to see it all!

Perfect walking adventure for the kiddos. They have a new penguin exhibit coming soon so I'm excited. We went late in the day so the nocturnal barn animals were all active and was amazing to see their albino raccoons.

The Cameron Park Zoo is a treasure for the city of Waco. The zoo is the perfect size for a 1/2 day adventure. I recommend that you purchase tickets online. It will save you time at the gate. If you do purchase your tickets online be aware of the gate for online tickets. It’s not easy to spot. The exhibits are very good, but most wildlife is behind glass enclosures. Many zoos now have open exhibits with natural barriers such as water… etc. I can see exhibits that are being modernized. This will happen over time. Vultures appear to have taken over the otter exhibit. It seemed like 100s of vultures moved into the zoo. They are a protected species so the zoo doesn’t have much they can do. You will see the signs and explanation of the situation. The birds are covered due to Avian flu. This keeps a lot of the exhibits closed. Just be prepared to see the covers. The zoo was an awesome experience and I’ll plan to return in the fall.

This zoo is pretty nice. The exhibits look very accommodating. There aren’t many animals, but we enjoyed our time seeing the ones there. Also, be comfortable around wild vultures. They are everywhere at the park. That being said, our one year old loved it.

Not too busy on a Sunday afternoon. Perfect to visit along with nearby Mammoth Nat. Park. The animals look happy and healthy, and I love supporting their rehabilitation and conservation. Can't wait until they open the new Penguin exhibit.

This was a good zoo. We wish there were more animals. It seemed like they may have been doing renovations since a lot seemed empty or closed. We loved all of the shaded areas and how beautiful the layout is. This is a great place for families. Remember to bring your water bottle as they have plenty of places to fill up. We'll worth the price.

The zoo is a terrific place to visit. When i went there for the first time, I could relieve my home sickness for Korea a little bit because of cozy and greenish points. It has a sentimental background with trees, ponds, streams, and waterfall that changed seasonally. The course is 1 hour to walk around(it is possible if you go to the zoo several times each season for 10 years. Hahaha) if we take a fast-paced walk. It is absolutely perfect for the family picnic. We can take a close look at lots of animals so that kids observe them precisely.

A gem in the city of Waco! 💎 A great place for kids and adults of all ages. Also as a 22 y/o Baylor student I throughly enjoyed! It was $14 for adults (ages 13 & up). The zoo houses a variety of animals, reptiles, and aquatic creatures. It’s a perfect place for walkers and photo takers (the entire place can be walked through in about an hour and a half to two hours). They also have a small outdoor cafe and many areas to stop to sit or get a drink from a fountain. The zoo also has a penny presser and small gift shop (if you are a fan of sloth stuffed animals they have quite the selection). My favorite part of the zoo is the tortoise, bald eagle, and orangutan areas! I recommend visiting the adjacent Cameron Park and Baylor Bear Habitat after taking a trip here!

This zoo is a gem! They have great exhibits, it's easy to walk around, and everything is organized nicely. It is affordable and the parking lot is spacious. This is a great zoo for everyone. Young, or old, you would enjoy this zoo and the animals inside.

We went to see the new baby giraffe. Mom and baby were bonding and kept inside. We did get to see and congratulate dad from a distance. The zoo trail is very well organized. I wish they had a map....we got lost at some point not knowing where on the maps we were and how many more stops til the giraffes. The trail has a great mixture of outer and inner exhibits. We are able to escape the heat. We took pictures of the markers throughout the adventure to keep track. It's a great walking course with measured symbols on post so you know how far you've walked. We walked for approximately 2 hours, and arrived back at the entrance shortly after 5:15p.

Wow! The setup is great for visitors and animals. The habitats are nice and clean for the animals. The walkways are mostly shaded making summertime visits so much more pleasant, with lots of vending machines and benches for breaks, and plenty of clean restrooms. We had lunch near the splash pad. The indoor exhibits were air conditioned and odor-free. The entire area is covered with trees so shade is plenty. They even have strollers for kids and mobility vehicles for adults at the entrance to the park. We took our time walking through the zoo, spending around 4 hours, that includes a stop for lunch. For me, this is the nicest zoo in Texas! The kids loved every minute of it. We'll be back soon!

I wish the front desk was more up front about the animals not being out today, kind of wasted my time and money here with only see the small aquarium and sad orangutan in their small cage. I hope that they bring in more traffic to fund this place because it seems like no staff was walking around to keep things in order and it just felt like the animals are left alone. I probably wouldn’t return because of its price but if you like to walk around and see the park, it might be a cool place to get some exercise.

We spend our afternoon in Cameron park zoo Waco Texas and it was definitely worth it. They have lots of exhibits and all the animals, birds, reptiles are so fun to watch. Definitely bring your kids here. Worth the prize. Takes about 3 to 4 hours if you want to spend at least 5 to 10 mins in an exhibit. The only negative I have to say is about the cafe. It was horrible. They only serve pizza as whole and not by slice. The pizza also tasted horrible. It was not good. They dont have many options either for vegetarians other than cheese pizza or grilled cheese. I mean I wish we got it by the slice. Rest of it was really good.

We really enjoyed this zoo. It was laid out very well. You can tell the animals are cared for here. Their environments were clean and the animals looked healthy. They had lots of items in their habitat that kept them busy. We went in the morning when it was cooler and that was fun since they were feeding the animals. The kids really enjoyed the slide that goes through the water in the otter habitat. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

For a small Zoo, Cameron Park Zoo is really nice. The animals are healthy and have natural looking spaces. They are working to add new exhibits. I personally fell in love with the orangutan, he came to sit with me and we had an amazing interaction.

I LOVE this zoo, by far the best I’ve been to in all of Texas. I travelled 2 hours to visit, and was not disappointed! The grounds are beautiful & naturally lush, makes for a beautiful walk. And there is a broad variety of animals to observe, I especially loved the reptile & aquarium buildings. There is plenty for the kids to do, even a little park, tree house, and little things mixed into different areas. Great place for the whole family.

Went on a Saturday. They no longer do paper maps, so you have to scan a QR code on your phone to pull up a map. Unfortunately, a lot of animals were hidden but I understand these animals don’t want to be bothered sometimes. I had no problem with it. The only things I’d say needed a bit more work was the entrance and the security. The woman who was working the ticket counter was extremely nice, but only having one line open on a Saturday seemed counterproductive. As for the security, maybe add some employees who ensure visitors aren’t banging on the glass or trying to bother the animals for a quick photo. There was a family there when I went who’s kids kept banging on the glass trying to get the leopard’s attention when it was just trying to sleep.

This is a small zoo. We went at around 1 and I thought we were going to miss most of the animals but we got to see everything except for the black bear. I love the diverse exhibits and the fact that it’s not overcrowded! It’s well maintained. We enjoyed visiting this zoo.

I had a blast visiting the Waco Zoo when I came to visit a friend of mine. We went on a Monday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded at all, it was really enjoyable, although they did have the Buffalo put up for exhibit cleaning but that’s understandable. Overall I’d go back if I’m ever in Waco again.

This is a pretty small little zoo, but it is spread out decently so you don't feel like it's small. There is a good variety of animals but only 1-3 of each animal. We went at a great time on Monday morning when there was no line to enter. The park was. Pretty much empty and we rarely ran into anyone else throughout our entire visit. The animals were pretty active including the Black bear which was fun to watch. It was just enough for our 2 year old to see some animals. Her favorite was the little aquarium windows! We bought a season pass and can't wait to go more. Parking was very easy and free! It's really close to the entrance and the park is very stroller friendly. Staff at the entrance was helpful and the entrance fee is only $13 per adult and kids under 3 are free!

Took my son to the Cameron Park Zoo today and we had a great time! It’s small, but they have a nice verity of animals to look at. It took us around 2hrs total to go through the whole zoo, and we felt it was worth what we paid, but it did feel slightly lacking in certain areas. Overall a great experience and would recommend if you’re in town and looking for something fun for the family!

We went first thing in the morning and most of the animals were having their breakfast so it was fun to see them. It's SO nice that most all of the paths are covered or have trees shading them to keep the sun off. GREAT PLACE! Very relaxing.

We were surprised to find such a nice zoo here on our way to Dallas from Austin. Exhibits were well taken care of and mechanical areas were well hidden. We spent 2 hours here just walking through and taking pictures. Look out for giant school field trip groups during the week. That was a bit annoying as they kept our kids from being able to see things well. This day was so windy that tree branches were breaking left and right and flying all over the place. I won't take a star away for this because it was not predictable, but the zoo staff was nowhere to be found and nobody showed any concern for guests safety. There was no clean up, warning signs or anything. I didn't think of it until a branch flew right into us during a big gust. Aside from the random wind storm, we thought it was a really nice zoo. Like a smaller version of the Dallas or SA zoos, but just as well kept.

Great zoo! The tickets were priced exceptionally well for the amount of things to see. The Goosechase scavenger hunt makes the trip more interactive and well worth it. Everyone working there is very friendly and there are many animals to see.

What a wonderful adventure. We could hear the lion roaring and when we came to their enclosure, the lioness was sitting on a rock...beautiful and majestic. The male was sunbathing on the grass. Great zoo! Well taken care of. Clean, not overcrowded. Five stars!!!!

One of the most beautiful Zoo's I have ever been too! Me and my wife try to make it a point to visit the zoo in every city that we visit. This is thus far the most beautiful and the design is great as it gives you an opportunity to see all the animals even as they hide. On this particular day, the animals were active. If you didn't know there is also vultures roaming around as they call the park their home!!

We took our son to Cameron park zoo for his very first zoo visit! At first we were worried about the heat with our 11 month old but there are plenty canopys, indoor cooled exhibits to visit along the whole zoo. We were also very grateful for the nursery pods, playground and splash area for a good spot to stop and decompress. It was very quiet and not too busy, food truck options and a cafe(we didn’t check out). A lot of the habits could be easily seen from the walking paths so it was easy to see the animals up close. We live an hour away but will most likely visit again!

Perfectly sized zoo for my 15 month old. Takes us about 2 hours to get through at a medium pace. But that can easily be sped up or slowed down. I haven't been since 2009 so it was nice to come back and see how it had been upgraded. Still very enjoyable. All the animals were moving around when we went since a cool front was passing through.

Probably one of my most favorite zoos I've visited to date. Lots of animals that I haven't seen before, and I love the interactive classes they do. It's fun to listen to the zoo keepers, and they answer your questions so friendly even though you know it's probably the hundredth time it's been asked this week! Loved the paved walkways that were mostly covered with shade trees or awnings. Some of the exhibits weren't open & some of the food places were closed as well when we went in January because of covid. Really liked the way the kids could slide through the otter tank! There's a gorgeous trail & park right outside the entrance, so bring a picnic lunch & be prepared to have an incredible family outting!

Such a great experience. Kids loved it as well as us adults. So many animals! Diffently Recommended walking shoes. Don't underestimate the distance or size of this zoo. Unfortunately was not able to feed giraffes due to covid. But still had a great time. I recommend bringing sandwiches and drinks. Food can be pricey. I like that there is a aquarium as well with cool fish. The gift shop has unique and nice stuff for memories. There is a lot of hills up and down. My mother was in a wheelchair so it made it harder to push just keep that in mind if you have a disabled member of your group. The animals looked healthy and well taken care of. Would go again for sure.

This zoo is perfect for a half day trip if you are in the city. It’s not too large and not to small. We had our little one walk everywhere. Good amount of animals but we missed out the Giraffe feeding. We will definitely come back to do that next time.
