Such a nice zoo. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the on-site dining and activities such as merry-go-round, sluicing, and animal encounters. The walkways are wide and easy to use. Bathrooms are clean and accessible. The kids enjoyed the play areas. Overall a great zoo!

This was the best zoo I have been to! My wife and I visit zoos pretty often, and this place is our favorite! We’re from Georgia and will definitely be traveling back up to visit! The staff was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable! The animals all seemed extremely happy and they were very well taken care of! Don’t hesitate to visit this place! I would give it 10 stars if I could!! So many animals to see, the shop was amazing, and they even have a little gem mining area! Worth the money!!

This is a small zoo. It has been in this are for 3 years. The animals seem to be well taken care of. The rides, zipline ride or zoo train were not running and cost extra. For the $25 ticket price it is disappointing. We past several keepers none of which spoke to us. The only keepers that were friendly was at the petting barn. They were awesome! This is a once and done. We visit zoos around the world.

What a lovely zoo! We went right when it opened and it was very peaceful. It’s very clean and well kept, all of the animals seemed to be very relaxed and happy. We ended up walking around the loop twice and that gave us an opportunity to see some of the animals that were still sleeping when we first showed up. We will come back if we are in the area again!

Not quite as good as fellow reviewers led me to believe. When driving up to this place there is a grand entrance like Jurassic Park and a long driveway in leading you to believe that you are going into a larger zoo than you actually are. They boast 300 animals, but when you have several of the same kind over and over it doesn't seem like you are seeing very much. I would go 45 minutes east to Gulf Breeze instead if given the chance over again.

We really enjoyed this zoo. This is a more intimate experience than you would get at a larger urban zoo. There is a good selection of animals and also a small petting zoo. You can buy a package and go in with some of the animals as well.

We stopped by here on a road trip and it was wonderful. Staff was pleasant and everything from the path, to the gift shop, to the restroom was very clean. We arrived around 1130 and left around 230-3. We saw a lot of animals and even had a few chats with the keepers as they tended a few of the enclosures who were very knowledgeable and willing to spend some time with us. There is a garden section which was a pleasant surprise as I haven't seen that at a zoo before and you are able to take a walk and sit on benches provided. It was a beautiful landscape area that has a cute little chicken coop. There is a stage for performance although there was not one scheduled during our visit. There is also an area to watch alligators being fed that happens on Tues & Thurs. The gift shop was also awesome with items ranging from very inexpensive at 1$ to things created by artisans that are 50+. It worked out great for us as we had two little boys who were able to get something without it breaking the bank while I was able to get a cute shirt to remember our stop and warm up as the temp dropped unexpectedly on us!

This is a new zoo, small, but wonderful! There are animal encounters and I love sloths! For a person who goes to many zoos and compares everything to Busch Gardens, I appreciated this zoo. We went on a rainy day which it didn't have any shows, but My husband paid $21 and I got 15 minutes with a sloth and a trainer which I was able to ask all the questions I wanted. Paige was very patient with me as she answered everything and our 15 minutes went by so fast! This was amazing and cant wait to do it again! Sitting there with the sloth really relaxed me and I was feeling so happy! The zoo was an amazing place and I loved it! It was so cozy and family friendly. I highly recommend this zoo for the whole family.

The zoo was okay... way to overpriced in my opinion. It cost us 68 dollars for three people...Couldn't really see the animals from all the gates that were put up. Then you have to pay extra just to interact with the animals. 20 bucks a person 🙄 no elephants at all which is crazy. The water in the vending machine was 3 dollars each. No shade for anyone one and the cages are kind of small for wild animals. None of the food trucks or shops were open. Just not really impressed. Our family is on vacation and I kind of wish we did something else besides visit this zoo...

Cute fun zoo to visit. Lots of animals to see. If you want can even add on animal encounters. Has a zip line for those more adventurous. Didn't go in the Cafe but has food options. Has a gift shop also.

The zoo is nice in that a family with small children can get through it with one trip. It has a normal small shop at the beginning for souvenirs. The first thing out is the giraffe feeding area but be careful if you want to take pictures of the yougins as the staff person stands on the wrong side for parents to get snap shots. Most of the exhibits have something in them and the kids are close to them for the most part. Lion can be pretty far off to see along with the alligators. Non of the vendors were open but a couple and I’m sure that is because we were here at the end of February. They had a nice play area for the kids about halfway.

Great value for the price of admission. Lions and tigers and bears oh my! They had a suprising amount of animal exhibits for a little known zoo. We brought our 2-1/2yo there and she loved all of the monkeys. The petting Zoo at the end was also very fun to experience through her eyes. She was able to feed the goats right out of her hand. They zoo has giraffes, Lions, tigers, bears, baboons, snakes, and lizards. The only exhibits that were not there were elephants, zebras, or gorillas. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much they did have.

This place was great!! Took my 4 year old and we had a blast! Lots of wonderful animals to see, two playgrounds inside the park, a couple of food trucks with ice cream and drinks, and a carousel! The place is immaculate and very nice! Bathrooms were super clean and everything was well staffed!

Awesome Zoo great price and plenty to do and keeps interest for kids and adults! The butterfly exhibit was a nice addition and probably one of our favorite things. We went around noon and unfortunately most of the cats were asleep and we never did see a male lion. But we will definitely be back!

Very nice small zoo. They offered feeding a giraffe for $5 during a certain time window...very worth it! It is a beautiful zoo, a nice layout also with a petting zoo of farm animals for small kids. They have a merry-go-round. You can take a small motorized car ride to see a few animals. Enjoyed the day at the zoo. Employees work hard and are very knowledgeable.

Ok I love visiting zoo's and seeing animal but I was so disappointed in this one it looks great when you pull up. But they really need to put some money into this place and start by cleaning it up take the time to trim Grass and shrubs in the cages the poor animal looked bad as well for over 65 dollars for 2 adults and a child it definitely wasn't worth it. O and a lot of empty cages a lot

The zoo is very small, we walked the whole place in 1 hour, most of the animals were inside of their habits because it was too hot. The total for 4 people was $92, including taxes. The kids loved the ride around the cows it cost $5.99 per person We liked the zoo. My recommendation is to go early in the morning when it isn't too hot, you will probably get to see more animals.

Perfect zoo to go through with a young baby! My 9 month old had a great time and you can tell the animals are well cared for. The landscaping is gorgeous. I've been to a few different zoos in different states and I have to say this is now my favorite.

Wonderful experience. Amazing encounters!! Small but great. They have more animals than we expected and a lot of animal interaction which is terrific for the little ones. It only takes a couple of hours to tour but it was time well spent. We'll be back again next year to see their new location. I can't wait. We really love this little hidden gem in Gulf Shores.

Tucked away in the southern state of Alabama is this not so small zoo! This zoo is the perfect place to take a family or make it a day trip with the gang. The animals are mainly separated by chain link fence which provides an immersive connection to all the animals. (Even the BEAR!) There are a few attractions that have an additional cost inside the park, but they do look like they will be worth it depending on your budget, but you won’t feel like you missed out if you don’t take the plunge. The zoo has plenty of spaces for your little ones to run, jump, and crawl to their hearts desire. This zoo is a must visit!

A small zoo, but nice big enclosures with lots of grass. I have never seen such relaxed cats in a zoo environment. All of the animals were relaxed and happy. Many would come to the front of the pens to look at the visitors.

Our family loves to come every year on our annual beach trip. Their new location is amazing! New features include a large, paved parking lot, beautiful landscaping, rides, a restaurant, larger animal enclosures, and an expanded gift shop. All of their friendly staff are wearing masks and encouraging guests to as well. This is a great place for the whole family.

It’s a super cute little zoo with a lot of heart! It is small so you have to go through with that in mind. It’s extremely clean and the animals are all healthy. We paid extra for the sloth experience on my daughter’s birthday and it was amazing to get so close to the sloth!🦥 The price was a little higher than expected.

Loved the quaint size. It was easy to navigate. Animals were very easy to spot in their habitats, although you could tell they were very hot and ready to cool off. Loved being able to pet the goats, and especially that sweet little donkey. The butterfly house is really set up nice. We got there with only an hour left before they closed and we rushed thru, but truly enjoyed it. We plan on going back so that we can actually feed and pet the giraffes and lemurs.

A welcome alternative to the beach, especially for cool or wet days (which the animals love, leading to more activity). A bit pricey with any add-ons, but it's got to be hard to raise money in south Alabama. Well maintained and friendly.

One of the best and most interactive zoos I have ever been to! It's a smaller zoo but very well kept. There are animal expericenes for a decent price to interact with sloths, lemers, and kangaroos! Not to mention you can feed the giraffes! The zookeepers were super nice and loved answering questions!

Well zoos have changed since I first went, I can see why. They have to raise money to keep the animals.......food etc hence a lot of extras to pay for if you wanted. The animals did look good, the zoo is very clean and well kept. I went in the morning about 10 o'clock which was handy because at about 12 noon it starts to get busy. Worth the visit

Got the annual family pass. We can add kids and friends or family when they visit. Very nice that the pass is flexible. It has been fun coming back each trip this year. New things to see each time and more new things coming from the construction areas in progress.

I have to agree with others that animals were difficult to see especially for young kids. Lots of fencing. Other zoos use large glass/ clear walls that make it easier. We also did sloth encounter. Very expensive and wished only a few did as better pictures outside of sloth area then in. Also the zoo keeper in sloths did not like kids and was pretty rude as my kids asked lots of questions and she didn’t even talk about the bird in sloth area. We did zoo car ride and the attendant tried to talk our kids out of it. She said you can see everything by just walking around. Guess she’d rather be on her phone then start up the cars. The best part was Kona ice. They were best snow cones we’ve ever had. We tried to do zip line but it was closed for lunch. I would not go back to this zoo. Definitely prefer gulf breeze zoo. We were there Mon april 4 10am till 1

We really enjoyed this little zoo! Spend the money and sit with the Lemurs. I would recommend getting tickets/appointments for hands on experience on line and filling out the waivers before you go. It was a lot trying to do these waivers for our family on my phone in the hot sun. Cool off in the reptile house! The whole place was very clean and relaxing. Employees are top notch! If you can go early there are more animals out when it's not so hot.

We have been visiting this zoo since it was in the old location in gulf shores. The little zoo that could has transformed into one of the nicest zoos in this part of the country! From the animal encounters to the attractions they have available, it’s guarantied fun for every age. The gift shop is wonderful! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable as well! The safari club restaurant is a must do, when visiting! The chicken tacos and bacon jam burger was the best! We stop anytime we are near just for the safari club!

It's ok. If you bought this as part of the ticket packages like an Alabama Fun Pass , it may be worth the visit. They need to add more shade to their playground and rest area. The extra experiences aren't worth the price. It does have a nice collection of animals and the park is clean and well maintained and has great bathrooms.

Feeding the giraffe was absolutely worth the money. All exhibits are close up so you get a good view and there are so many chances to interact with the animals. There are chances to feed the lemurs, cuddle the sloths, sing with the parrots. It's was week worth the money. Everything is handicap accessible and there are electric scooters available for rent.

I visited this zoo while on vacation in Gulf Shores. The zoo is clean and the animals seem well taken care of. There's playground equipment for children to play on, but really it was too hot to enjoy it. Most of the animals were hiding in the shade. My only complaint is that the zoo seems to advertise Peacocks, but there are none at this zoo. My daughter is obsessed with Peacocks and was really looking forward to seeing them live in action.

The zoo was a fun small day trip! My partner and I were able to walk the whole zoo in less than an hour but was very humid and hot so most of the animals were just laying down or hiding. The gift shop had a few fun things but not a large selection. For the price of $22.95 was a bit much for the time we spent. It came out to $50.40? Something like that for less about an hour. We decided to do the lemur encounter and we had a lot of fun! It was 24.95/pp but was fun! We wanted to do the kangaroo interaction but was informed that was more for educational purposes and if we wanted more interaction to do the lemurs. So glad we did. At first they were shy but then they got active and climbed all over us and licked us. We got to pet them and take plenty of pictures that was well worth the money.

We had an amazing experience at the zoo! Came during the holiday break in late December, and most of the animals were out and in close proximity to guests walking around. Loved the up close experience. Giraffe feeding was very neat, there were also sloth encounters and a kangaroo encounter. Highly recommend this zoo!

We really wanted to do the sloth encounter but were not able to due to Covid. We still decided to go see them, though. We were expecting them to have a bigger space and actually didn’t even see them our first time through and had to ask where they were. They were sleeping in a little enclosure inside the barn. We watched them sleep a while then made our way through the rest of the zoo. We have a great zoo where we live so we weren’t expecting much from this one but we had a nice time walking around this zoo. The monkeys were so social and came up to us when at the cages. The gift shop is nice and the employees we encountered were nice.

As a local that grew up going to their zoo camps as a kid... I sure thought 15 years of fundraising would have benefitted the animals more at the new location. From the looks of the enclosures vs the restaurants and gimmicks its clear where the managements priorities lay. The animals had bigger areas in the old location. Big cats in bare bones cages approx 50x50. A leopard in a cage smaller then my living room and thats not saying much. Even the tortoises were in a 10x 30 fence in a corner of a much larger fenced in area? $50 for me and the wife and we were so disappointed we were in and out in less then an hour

We had a great time here, we went for my husband's birthday and we did the lemur experience which was too cool! There was also an area where we could feed different types of animals. It is a smaller zoo but well worth the price!!!! We will be back!

We enjoyed both the lemur and kangaroo attractions (both were fun, but the lemurs were the best!). The close ups are of Tony, who really likes my phone. The only thing that disappointed us was that they booked our animal interactions back to back, so we essentially walked the zoo in 15 minutes to get from one to the other, missing everything in between. Lesson learned!

  • 2/5 Stephanie S. 9 months ago on Google
The zoo was very small it took us right at an hour from the time we parked to the time we got back in out vehicle. We went during the week and It was not crowded. Bring your own drinks! There was nowhere to get any kind of drinks or anything. Some of the animals are very hard for younger kids to be able to see without having to pick them up. It was tight at 85$ for 2 adults and 2 kids. For us it wasn't really that good.

If you come to south Alabama for vacation please take the time to come to this zoo! It is small but very beautiful and if you come early you will get to see some of them active and have fun. These pictures do not do the justice of how wonderful these beautiful animals are. The kids will probably have the most fun 😂. And for just 5 dollars you can feed the giraffes! So awesome and so much fun! 🤩❤️❤️

Really nice zoo with lots of animals and birds. And pet zoo. You can pay to pet kangaroo and feed giraffes. Animals have lots of room. They look happy. They even have lemurs island where lemurs leave free. You can also go on the train car ride that just goes around the camel cage. It was like a 20 - or 25 dollars adult entrance ticket.

Where do I start, well at the beginning I suppose. We had a day, to ourselves as a family. So the zoo was on the to do list. Here's the take away; Clean !!!! bathroom's, parking lot, restaurant, entire place tidy and sparkling clean. The Zoo is expanding and it's great for the conservation of all these specie's calling the space home. Please no naysayers or long-winded speech's about where rare species belong because of humans, I think adults all over the world 🌎 understand humans can be difficult. Good citizens/neighborly people know conservation is imperative for many animal species. Zoos are especially close to my heart, I think people need experiences with animals and new places and new people to learn new ways of being better people. You can encounter a 🦥 sloth, lemurs, giraffes and kangaroos here!!! You can see big Cats, I mean big!!! Within 3 feet of you! You can see so many rare birds and beautiful animals. The restaurant is new and has incredible veiws, weather is rather beautiful all year round. Remember, come with a learning heart, be mindful of the signs and have an adventure. Final note, if you think you only need the beach in Gulf shores on vacation, think again! These animals teach us humans every day, about all things we are responsible for in this beautiful world, our vacations should have a moment of education in a fun environment where the littles in our lives holler how amazing it is to see an ostrich or giraffe or lion or tiger oh my. This is a marvelous little gem in the whole state!!! The keepers are knowledgeable and kind, you will find everyone here really knows the animals and loves all of them. Take the time to fall in love anew with all the wild side.

I could not put how much I paid for tickets because my wife purchased year-round tickets sometime last year so we get in for free. But living in the area and being able to visit this zoo on a daily basis is very fun. I definitely recommend anybody with kids coming to visit make a trip here. It's not very expensive and there's plenty of stuff for the kids to look at.

This place is very nice as far as being clean and a new facility. However, some of the enclosures are hard to see in to. They didn’t offer very many exhibits for the price and almost everything you do extra inside of the zoo is additional money. The animals weren’t very active but of course it’s hard to fault the zoo necessarily. If you wanted to experience everything the zoo had to offer for a family of 4 you’re looking at almost $600 which is crazy to me. Also when we first arrived I used the men’s room and there was no soap to wash your hands. I told the staff about the problem and by the time we finished looking at all the exhibits and came back through the soap still hadn’t been replenished which is annoying. If you’re looking to get away from the beach for a few hours you can do it here just don’t expect to be wowed by any means.

By far the best zoo we've ever been to! The animals looked healthy, well cared for, and were in natural type enclosures. Watching the monkeys and Lemurs from their little islands was a relaxing treat. This zoo offers a great variety and the staff is super friendly. The zip lining was a blast and the popsicle truck is great. Our visit was the highlight of our beach vacation. We will definitely visit again. I wish we lived closer.

This is an absolutely beautiful, new-feeling zoo. Giraffe feeding ($), kangaroo experience ($$$) and a little train ($) are all available during Covid. The large playground is closed, but there’s a shaded, smaller playground that is in excellent condition. The animals seem happy, and the exhibits are well thought-out and it’s easy to see the animals. As far as zoos go, it’s on the small side, but the animals that are there are top notch! It seems like they will be adding exhibits in the future. We went on an overcast, fall day and it was perfect. I’d imagine it would be unbearable in direct sun/heat. Very few trees. Bring a wagon or rent one there. I loved the exhibits in the ponds. The attached restaurant was very good! Wood fired pizzas for the kids.

We attended a wedding reception dinner at the restaurant there. It started at 6:30pm. The food prepared for us was exceptionally good. It was served in 5 coarse. Salad, 3 different meat courses each with it's own sides, a variety of desserts. The servers were the most alternative that we have ever experienced. They brought out a bird, a pig, & a porcupine that are on exhibit at the zoo. This was interesting & exciting for a wedding reception dinner. The next day my wife and I went back to go through the zoo. It is a very clean, well kept zoo. Excellent animal exhibits. This Gulf Coast Zoo is well worth a trip to Gulf Shores Alabama!!!

Love everything about this zoo. It's very close to home and my 5 yr old daughter enjoyed it. There is a nice variety of animals and the setting is fairly intimate. It's an easy walking facility with a lovely gift shop and a sit-down restaurant, that is reasonably priced. We spent 3 hours here which was perfect. I opted for the family annual membership, which was a great deal if you plan on visiting more than 2 times a year. I can see at least 6 visits a year in my future. I think fall/winter weather is perfect for this venue.

Very fun and exciting for kids to see all the exotic animals. The staff was very friendly and informative. We were able to pet baby lemurs, and it was such a wonderful experience!

We love the Zoo in Gulf Shores! Today we saw multiple animals being fed. The children love all the animal exhibits!

Blossoming zoo with great potential. Clean, organized, animals appeared healthy and active. So new at this location when we visited that Google Map's directions to the main entrance are off but road signs clearly mark it. There aren't even park maps yet and a few exhibits, animal encounters, and indoor/outdoor activity areas were still empty/closed or under construction, but still worth supporting it's growth - walked the main path twice. Also fed and pet the giraffe for $4.45

Really nice experience. Pretty well kept zoo. Very open plenty of space to walk and watch the animals. Definitely room to grow. Also had lunch at the restaurant. A little disappointed, overpriced. I'll come back again, Probably eat there again out of convenience. You're really going to have a good time here, should continue to improve as they grow.

Cute little zoo to spend the afternoon. Exhibits are well displayed and the zookeepers are very informative. Make sure to do the Kangaroo expedition.

We really enjoyed our time here. We have been coming to Gulf Shores for at least ten years currently moved down here in 2019. This zoo has a little bit of everything. Most of the animals were awake and we even got to feed the sheep. You guys did a great job building this one!

My kid got bit by a kangaroo during the "kangaroo encounter"... Which was a highlight of our visit in her eyes. Very small and expensive place. Employees all very helpful and kind.

Nice but small. Too costly for what you get.

Cheap to get in but then you only can pet one animal, have to pay 20$ a person to pet kangaroos. Don't know price of petting any other animal because they weren't open.

We really enjoyed our visit to this zoo. Although a small zoo, it was very clean and nicely laid out. It took us about 2hrs to explore. Many of the animals were quite active and appeared to be well cared for. my toddler very much enjoyed the animals and the playgrounds. We also ate at the restaurant. Even though they were short staffed, they provided a great meal and excellent service. Zoo staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

This is a friendly little zoo. It can all be walked in a couple hours with time to see, interact with the animals. It's all accessible and the terrain is for the most part even and there are no big elevation changes. Good for small kids and grandparents. Buy tickets online to skip the line and arrive early. We enjoyed it very much.

It was a great experience! A lot bigger than the zoo that was one the beach. As a local, I'm very pleased!

Well planned. Well staffed. Well just about new. The best zoo of its size I have ever seen. The animals are in great shape and are close by. Open environment adds to the natural feeling and the staff is friendly plus informative. Lots of family fun. Rides and more.

👍👍 As weird as it may sound to some, stopping at the nature exhibit at the Gulf State Park was one of the best parts of our trip ♥️ myself, my oldest son, my youngest son and my oldest son's girlfriend went here and broke off from a group of 16. The other part of the group went to go putt putt and came...
