Just okay. Let's start with the negative points: - For the price, some areas need to be taken care of, the lawns are a clear example. - The farm animals are visible depressed. - The tiger and lion pits are so far away you can barely seen them (and consider they're sleeping most of the time). Some nice points: - The dolphin, sea lion and birds educational activities are free and repeated around 3 times throughout the day. They're worth it in the order I mentioned them. - The aquarium is nice, they have some medium sized sharks together with sea turtles, you're able to see them close up and even swimming above you. - The brown bears are beautiful and take interest in the visitors. The pandas don't seem to care and just do their own thing. Would recommend if you want to see a bunch of animals, but don't get your expectations too high.

I loved this zoo! It's got an amazing variety of animals and each animal has a space that's been designed for that specific animal to be similar to their natural habitat. Most of the animals have open spaces and they're not in glass boxes. It is a really big place though so lots of walking. And to see it properly you need to spend at least most of the day there. There are lots of play parks too around the zoo. The dolphin show was lovely too.

Not sure what zoos some of the complaints are coming from, but this this is one of the better zoos I’ve been to. I’ve visited zoos all over the eastern US and Madrid zoo is as good, if not better. Yes these animals are in a cage, but they live the good life. There is no pleasant death in the wild. We enjoyed ourselves and there is plenty to see. The aquarium is amazing for the life and size. Great destination while in Madrid. Only 15 minutes outside the city.

Very interesting zoo with lots of different animals. Pandas are there, they are so cute. Also, I was impressed by giraffes and how much free space they had. Dolphin show was not bad but definitely not the best. For visiting zoo you need at least 3 hours more is better. It you are visiting Madrid and have some free time it definitely worth to see

I walked away from here ashamed that I had perpetuated the existence of a zoo like this in 2023. The animals seemed to have so little space and the poor black bear had the smallest of pools to cool off in. Even then it was in direct sunlight and the water looked filthy. I'm sure kids of primary school age might think it's wonderful but I truly felt sorry for the animals that live there.

Good Zoo, there is cassowary, I really wanted to see it, you can feed flamingos and giraffes but last ones just in warm time

We visited the zoo with friends when we were travelling in Madrid. The ticket price is quite expensive, but considering the size of the zoo, we initially thought it was justified. The peacocks and bunnies roam freely, which we liked very much. The aquarium is solid, as are the facilities of some of the animals. However, many of the animals have small cages, dirty and outdated. We were very disappointed with the whole experience and would not recommend it!

Really fun zoo! Layout is easy to figure out and walk, and animals are housed so that it is easy for people to visit and actually sight an animal. They have a large variety of animal shows, and the Dolphin one is the best I have ever seen. My negative is that I wish more things were printed in English but otherwise it was a great zoo.

(Translated by Google) As always great the zoo; if it lacks a bit of a facelift and it is a shame that the reptiles have been taken, it was a very cool enclosure. Attention of 10. Covid measures well; That yes, people do not respect, they throw themselves at you and do not keep a safe distance ... maybe with a little more vigilance from the zoo it could improve, but given the education and responsibility of the people, little can be done; We could check it in the aquarium where the security man, no matter how much he said, keep your distance, do not step on the white line. People did not keep their distance, they jumped on you, they passed the white line, and they touched the windows, from adults even children, who should be controlled by their parents ... Anyway, it seems that there is no covid ... normal that the situation does not improve.

I really enjoyed with my son. All the animals were so active and awake. In most zoo animals sleeps but here i saw all most all animals were awake and all children there enjoy. There were schools children also who came with there school trips. A very educational place for kids. And i love the aquarium most. You will see alots of sharks there and many more beautiful fishes. I highly recommend it to parents. A must visit place for kids. 👍🏻

Our visit to Madrid Zoo and Aquarium was a mesmerizing journey through diverse habitats. Greeted by the vibrant flamingos, we were instantly captivated. The playful penguins and the serene pandas were highlights, offering a glimpse into the wonders of wildlife from different continents. Each exhibit, from the lively flamingo area to the tranquil panda sanctuary, showcased the care and dedication to animal conservation. A perfect blend of education and entertainment, this place is a must-visit for nature lovers and families alike. An unforgettable experience that brings you closer to the marvels of the animal kingdom. For winter time there are limited options to dine. I recommend train tour if you are with younger children.

Great place for kids! Many animals too see and enjoy and especially the Dolphins and the Aquarium are truly great and entertaining for kids. You can always take a break and grab some food - to avoid queues, use the automated ordering system instead of ordering from the counter. I wouldn’t recommend buying the food for animals they offer at the entrance, we did not had time to find all of the animals we could feed. We have been there for good several hours and it was tiring for the kids. Bring a stroller. The walk from the zoo to the metro is challenging and requires climbing up a steep hill, there’s a bus you can check too (we hadn’t)

I was expecting a better experience to be honest. Some of the venues were closed, maybe because i visited end of November, and the Zoo is probably better in summer time. However, the highlight was the dolphin show. If you get a chance dont miss the dolphin show.

Before going I read all the reviews about the terrible monkey situation, and while at first I wasn’t convinced, after going there I hate to say I agree. The animals themselves are interesting, but the care and management for them leaves a lot to be desired. Honestly the management team should review their current policies and implement better methods when taking care of the animals. On a completely unrelated note, I saw a lot of peacocks, bunnies and birds roaming around freely and interacting with people.

Few kinds of animals that I never had occasion to see: pandas, koalas, toucan. Exhibitions with birds (parrots and eagles) was cool. Exhibition with dolphins very disappointing, it is much better in different places. I felt bad, because in the photos and also on the official site it is wrote/shown that toucan will be part of exhibitions and also people had photos with him. Meanwhile those one looked very sick and was not part of any exhibition and it was impossible to have photo with him. Some animals are looking very sad/bad conditions (for example on of the rhinos). Overall zoo is cool.

Fun zoo, with very active animals. I have been to zoos around the world and never heard as many animals making so much noise. The dolphin show was a nice touch as well. You can get a good close view of most of the animals. Not the best zoo I've been to but fun way to spend an afternoon in Madrid.

A very nice zoo, not too big but big enough to fill about 4-5 hours. A lot of shows as well as photo moments throughout the day. The habitats are nice and clean, a lot of places to grab a small bite or drink as well. Maybe a little bit overpriced for a zoo but still well worth it. The animals also seem to like to strike a little pose, especially the bears had a great sense of humour :p

A lovely zoo but the aquarium is not that big. The twin pandas were amazing. Also don't miss the dolphin show! Make sure to go early as they close by 6pm. I wouldn't rate the food there. The self service restaurant was pretty awful. We left most of our food as did other people sitting around us. + Nice zoo with interesting animal shows (parrots, eagles, dolphins, sea lions) - Not a very wide variety of animals (few birds, reptiles, etc)

The Zoo and the Aquarium is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Madrid. The place is a very far away from the city center of Madrid. It takes almost 30 minutes by metro from the center point of Madrid. Besides, it takes the whole day if you wish to visit the whole area. So it's better to make a day long schedule if you wish to visit the place. The admission fee is 24 Euro per person. The most attractive part is dolphin show and the panda. The aquarium is also beautiful

Best zoo i have ever been too, we thought we missed the dolphin show as we arrived a little later but the dolphins were on show for all to see without having to pay. They have many designated smoking areas, they have s coach to take you around if you can't cope with the walking. Peacocks and rabbits running around wild and they are so cute and friendly. The staff are all friendly and a lot of them can speak English.

Amazing experience... a must do in Madrid with kids. The 3 euros train inside the zoo helps you to not waste time walking long distances. Starts 2 pm. It is better to arrive early to catch the birds presentation... Really worth seeing and you can get a beautiful photo beside the owl or other birds. Unfortunately we missed the dolphins presentation.

Lovely experience, so many animals, more than we anticipated. I was looking forward seeing red pandas, but there didn't appear to be any around. The goats were so fun in the little farm area. They kept on trying to eat my baggy shirt which was hilarious. The aquarium too was amazing. The windows are massive and you can see right through to the end of this massive tank. Very nice experience, and I would go again if I come back to Madrid

Ok it’s a zoo, but still have dolphins in a swimming pool and chimpanzee in cages.. I saw a rhinoceros bleeding bcs he hit himself many times with a barrier. Sad moment .. instead of that it’s a clean place. They have water around the parc, and plenty of places for snack and fast food.

Small zoo (much less impressive than other we visited), but very suitable for spending a couple of hours with kids. Aquarium was disappointing. It is one of the few that have a Panda, which was great to see (first time for some of our group). Red Panda was surprisingly beautiful (if you never saw one). Shows - you should come early since there are limited seats in the shade: The Dolphin show was great. The Birds show was okay. We missed the Sea Lion show because there were no seats in the shade (in early October, the weather was sunny with 30°C). Consider taking the bus or a taxi (~€4) on the way back in order to avoid the uphill walk to the Casa de Campo metro station (on the way to the zoo you can enjoy the scenery during the downhill walk). Note the opening hours (attractions in Madrid tend to open rather late).

Visited the zoo and aquarium on a warm sunny winter day. The price was good. Not overly crowded. Pleasantly surprised that many animal were out even in the cold. The zoo is lovely. Old school style. The aquarium is small but a nice addition. Took the train from city center and walked down hill to the zoo. There are two signs but no more once you cross the street from the metro. We didn't realize until we got down to the zoo that there is a bus you can take from the train stations. I would recommend if you have kids.

Great place to visit being in Madrid. Espectaily with kids! So many wild animals and birds. Tigers are awesome, leopards and bears are great! They even pose to a photo 😃 Dolphins show steals the heart, very pleasant experiance :) Definitely a place worth recommending!

Nice place. I spent good and funny time. It’s included lots of animals divided according to the continental. The dolphins show was very interesting. Flamingos were amazing as well. There are lots of cafeterias and gift shops spread every were in the zoo. You can feed some animals as well.

We visit this zoo to see the Panda and the zoo has many wild animals like rabbits and bird which maybe they are not belong to this zoo but come to stay here volunteerily because they get free foods, the most cutest things is the wet land because many different animals sharing the same place and those animals are freedom to get in or get out but they choose to stay. As I understand the Panda has give birth 5 babies panda since they moved to Madrid Zoo,this Zoo has good atmosphere and nice environment, dolphin show is good but due to the day we visited is raining so maybe is better without rain.

Nice zoo with a lot of animals. Better to buy tickets online or you have to wait at the cash desk, usually between 11-13 h there are many visitors. There are some restaurants inside and coffee shops, but you have to wait again. There are enough bathrooms. It is good to spend 2 hours in the Zoo.

The zoo was huge. I didn't notice restroom in every spot but there was a restroom. Vending machine are available only coins are accepted. The restaurant was closed we visited the zoo in (Tuesday. JULY. 2019) no wifi available. There's small shops sells (water, chips, ice cream..) The animals looks extra depressed and won't move all of 'em hidding or laying on the ground. Nice place to take kids and for walk. There's taxi stop outside the zoo gate.

I doubt it very much, when we entered where the gorillas, nobody respected the safety distance, there was no one to control how many people entered and if the rules were respected ... in the aquarium, yes There were people inside controlling, but people ignored ... and another thing that I did not like about the aquarium, if you cannot enter with the cars you rent, I could put a sign or information at the entrance before taking it. . When we were already leaving, the police even showed up because there were too many people ... they should be more aware of the moments that we are going through right now ... A little more crowded than I expected knowing the situation we live with the pandemic. This is a world class zoo with an amazing range of animals with large, interesting enclosures and great information. Get there early for the exhibitions/shows which are all free once you're in, and the animals are very well trained and look healthy and happy. I took my family and absolutely loved it. It's an absolute steal at €20pp - so check it out before they realise they could comfortably be charging double that.

It's a smaller ZOO that can't compare with the best (like Prague ZOO for example), but it's decent and definitely not a disappointment. Some descriptions are missing and some displays are old, unattractive and kinda sad for the animals to live in, but others are pretty nice. I could see a lot of good work done in the past years there. Off season you should expect most of the restaurants and other attractions to be closed.

This is my favourite aquarium I've gone to. It's got a wide variety of fish, coral, and other such wildlife. The tanks are large, well looked after and with lots of variation in habitat. There's boards talking about the contents of each tank and stages for talks when it's busier. Beautiful place!

It is a nice zoo. I would suggest to buy the tickit online else you may have to wait long to buy tickits specially if you visit on a holiday. The special attraction In the zoo include 1. Sea lion show 2. Dolphine show 3. Exotic brid show 4. Bird show . All of these show lasts for approx 15 min. This are must visit show in the zoo. Check the timings of the show as soon as you arrive in the zoo from the information center. For the Sea Lion show and Dolphine show, I will suggest you arrive atleast 30 min before to get a best sit. There are many places es to eat and drink Inside the zoo.

It's a nice place. We was at Sunday in August, suprasngly it wasn't very crowded. If you like paper map, and not the digital form, you probably need to print it bybyour self before you arrive, as they not provied ones. All the shows (dolphins and seals) are in Spanish and not have any translate to English. We was surprised in one point when we wanted to take a picture with panda statue, and they was one of the workers of the zoo, said its not allaoes only if he takes a picture of us, and we can buy it later in the zoo shop. With the giraffes it was the same but nit statue, it was with the real giraffe so it's mich more reasonable. About the toilets, it's have great cover, in lots of places. And suprasingly always very clean. Also there is place to sit on table and such comfy, and eat something with the family. I don't know how it on cold days, but it seem the heat also effect on some animals who just hiding in some shadow. The aquarium is amazing, not very big, but have a lot of speaces of fish, from glow in light Medusa to sharks.

A fantastic whole day out! Large zoo with many animals spread over a big distance. Almost all the signs are in Spanish and English which was nice. Booked tickets with the a fast food voucher which was fantastic value for money and I would definitely recommend going

We went on a Sunday during summer break and boy was it crowded. Buy a ticket ahead of time to avoid long lines. It's a big beautiful zoo with a lot to see. It was fun going around with friends and our kids. The zoo itself looks well kepts and animals well-tended to. A highlight for us and the kids was the petting zoo. Recommendations: - Bring/use sunblock, hats, sunglasses, water bottles - faucets to refill water bottles available around the zoo - bring sanitizer and tissue. They will save you in the bathrooms & when you get a table in the restaurant that's unclean. - bring snacks and even food if you don't want to line up I remove a star for: 1. impossibly the long lines in restaurants and the aquarium 2. Dirty tables in restaurants 3. Super gross bathrooms I recommend going on a weekday instead to avoid what we went through.

It’s very well organized place. Clean and neat. Paradise for birds and hell for gorillas 🦍. Too tinny kind of cage for 6 spices with windows around and crazy visitors to disturb the monsters . Felt really sorry for them as also for giraffes to be kept in the small room . Dolphins shows is at 12.30 not to be missed . Photos next to them you need pay 25 backs plus extra money to have hard copy. Looks ok but nothing big, you may take better pic down after the show is over. Many places for kids to chill out. Difficult approach spent 15 euros for taxi from center took 20 min. Visited on Tuesday in March no people at all in the opening hours. Ticket cost. 25 for adult

Visited 15.02.2022. It's a big zoo where there are animals grouped according to the parts of the world. The symbol of the zoo is a panda, but I'd say it should be a stork. There are a lot of nests of storks around the whole territory, with other types of birds they fly freely and create an unbelievable impression of wild nature. There are also other animals and birds (such as rabbits and peacocks) wandering around freely. There are a few restaurants and cafeterias on the territory, some of them were closed though, I think it's due to the season. Another option for eating and drinking is picnic areas and vending machines outside. The information about the animals is provided in Spanish and English. There is also an aquarium. There is something to see and to do for the whole day.

With or without kids is a must see place. Is a beautiful place and it can be a all day visit. I will recomand you to came here at noon to see all the acvatic shows. They have also an app, with the activities scheduled and others. If is a plan trip, buy your tickets on line in advance. The tickets are more cheap. I didn't know that they can increase or decrease depending on the day. I think we payed 122 euros for 3 adults and 2 children at the tickets point at he zoo. Expensive, but it definitely worth it. For 2 euro you can buy food for the flamingo birds at the entry. The have many restaurants, at the time of our visits only 2 were opened. You can bring your own, they have picnic area, and also playgrounds.

We visited on a Monday afternoon and there was barely anybody. We felt like we had the entire zoo for ourselves. It was very hot outside though, probably 90+ F. Apparently for the petting zoo area you have to buy the food at the entrance of the main zoo, so when we got there we couldn't feed the small animals. We saw pandas, rhinos, hippos, zebras, sharks, etc. The aquarium is the perfect size, not too big or small. If you are visiting from abroad and have small kids then don't miss it.

  • 4/5 Sam J. 9 months ago on Google
Wow it felt like we had this whole place to ourselves. Hardly anyone in the whole zoo. We went in July on a weekday. The zoo has every animal that you would want to see (giraffes, elephants, rhinos, monkeys, pandas, bears, dolphins, penguins, sea lions, etc.). When visiting the giraffes NO ONE else was around and was a beautiful experience. Went to the dolphin show and the bird show - recommend checking them out. Cool aquarium to see as well. HOWEVER, many of the enclosures did not seem enriching enough and was a general concern throughout the visit.

  • 4/5 V M R. 9 months ago on Google
The zoo is really big and lots of animals. Perhaps should be less animals in one place as it seems some of the places are too crowded. This zoo is much better than many other zoos in Europe.

There were so many animals we ran out of time to see everything. Most enclosures have multiple angles to view from, meaning there is almost always an angle to see the animals. The zoo seemed pretty quiet, but that may have been down to the day we visited.

!!! The worst conditions ever !!! Madrid Zoo boasts an impressive collection of animals, including rare and endangered species. The staff's friendly demeanor and helpful nature further enhance the overall visitor experience. However, a glaring oversight mars the zoo's otherwise positive reputation: the deplorable conditions in the monkey enclosure. The monkey enclosure, a stark contrast to the rest of the zoo, presents a scene of overcrowding, filth, and a rampant rat infestation. The sheer number of monkeys confined to this cramped space is alarming, depriving them of the necessary room to roam freely and engage in their natural behaviors. The monkeys are living like slaves and they fighting like it s their last day sometimes..This overcrowding, coupled with the deplorable sanitation, creates a breeding ground for disease and distress among the primates. A recent incident further highlights the zoo's negligence towards its monkey inhabitants. Two monkeys engaged in a fight, resulting in one of them plummeting from a 15-meter-high wall. (they have a weird place where to stay). The severity of the fall left the monkey bleeding profusely and foaming at the mouth because she felt like an potato bag from 15m.The delayed response from zookeepers but they tried to do their best, one of them come and call the veterinary and so on but it seemed like that they know the bad situation.. The plight of the monkeys at Madrid Zoo serves as a stark reminder of the zoo's responsibility to provide adequate care for all its animals. The overcrowding, poor sanitation, and lack of proper safety measures within the monkey enclosure are unacceptable. Immediate action is required to address these issues and ensure the well-being of these primates. While Madrid Zoo may excel in many areas, its treatment of monkeys falls woefully short of animal welfare standards… their monkeys.. their slaves . Unfortunately can t upld videos..
