This was a fantastic aquarium experience for all of us, kiddos and adults alike. Very nicely priced. So much to see and experience. The kids got to touch sting rays, starfish, anemones, and even jelly fish among other creatures. It wasn't very crowded for a spring break weekday. All the staff members were super sweet and kind to the kids. They answered all questions in the best and most interesting ways to keep the kids wanting to know more. The theater was also a big hit with the kids, as well as the interactive tablets and stamp collections for the booklets(which they had in a huge variety of different languages, it was so refreshing to see this). We all can't wait to go back and see all the critters and creatures again.

Absolutely wonderful experience! So many amazing exhibits and very informative and interactive displays. Parking was very easy and they even validated the parking. The cafes were good, and not packed. It was really cool to get to see the scuba divers feeding the fish, getting to pet sting rays, and feeding birds. We highly recommend putting this on the list of must see while in the long Beach area.

Pretty good aquarium to spend the day at. Not the best aquarium I have been too but this one seems pretty well designed space for the animals and they seem take good care of the animals. Great for kids with many interactive touch sensory areas for the kids… also with plenty of hand washing areas at each area. Good time for adults and kids. The ticket price seems a little high for adults and kids (3 or older)

The aquarium has been an active and popular attraction for a very long time in LB. Three levels of tanks displays and tons of information for all ages. There are demonstrations all day long and being able to interact with sting rays is really cool. Take in the video at the entrance and it helps to introduce you to the aquatic environment. The wave tank is really impressive. Looks like nature. The sea lions are fun and playful. Be patient with the screaming children running around Lol. They’re just excited. The parakeet encounter is equally entertaining. The really cool display for me was the three story tall glass wall that shows the giant Goliath grouper. Sharks glide around and just sitting on the bench and watching is relaxing. Enjoy 😊

I haven’t been to an aquarium for many years, and it was the first time my husband and I ever visited one together. It is huge, with so much to see! We spent a few hours there enjoying the experience. My favorite creates to see were the sea lions, jelly fish, seahorses, sharks, turtles, and sting rays. And the many colorful fish and sea life - all of it was really interesting and invigorating to observe. It’s unreal how large these creatures can be, and it’s cool to learn about. I love the layout of the exhibits, and the fact that they provide you a map (we would have easily missed things without the map, so it was great to have). The highlight of the experience was the opportunity to touch a moon jelly fish! It was really, really cool.

Fun for all ages. Helpful and friendly staff. A huge plus that they now serve alcohol. I wish someone told us to go feed the birds first thing upon arriving. I heard it was a great experience. Seeing them was nice. Even saw one bird do his cool mating dance only to get royally rejected. The jellyfish are beautiful and probably the most interesting to see. They have a very large tank with hammer head sharks and beautiful manta rays. This great exhibit makes you feel like part of the ocean. It's beautiful to see all the variety coexisting. It's a bit tough to see the octopus in his/her smallish tank. Some displays were down for repairs upon our visit so we'll have to return to get the full experience. The longest lines will be in the gift shop check out for some odd reason.

I was here about two weeks ago with my dear friend, her 18 month old daughter, and my three year old son. I haven't been here in many years and had forgotten how spacious this place is. Both the kids and adults had a blast! The staff is amazingly friendly and knowledgeable and most the exhibits were functioning. There was some pretty neat interactive activities like touching the stingrays and decorating a fish on a tablet that got displayed on a wall amongst fellow fish artists. We arrived a few minutes after our ticket time but it wasn't an issue. I prefer going on a Tuesday early-mid day, as I did on this day because I like to avoid crowds. Success!! Not many people! I read the maximum ticket price was $8 which turned into $12 upon paying to leave. No big price jump, but I'm thinking maybe the marquee was wrong?

My weekend at the Aquarium of the Pacific was fantastic. Getting tickets in advance made things super easy. What really impressed me was how well everything was taken care of. The staff did an amazing job making sure every exhibit looked great. From colorful displays to clean tanks, their hard work made the whole visit even better. It was not just educational but also visually stunning. Big thumbs up to the team for making it such a great day!

Great experience for kids with its abundant information about the aquatic life and beyond - a lot more interactive activities. Got there on a weekday afternoon and it was fairly packed. Really a great gem! I heard that there were a lot of upgrades to the existing so I couldn't tell aside from really enjoying it all!

The whole staff was great and friendly despite the amount of children on field trips on Tuesday 11/14/23. It had been a while since my last visit so I needed, I was having some questions on where to find certain areas and staff was friendly to answer all of them. Excellent service! Moon jellyfish were my son's favorite area although they were a little on the hidden side of the aquarium. I had forgotten how fun this place is! Thinking of getting their membership since it is at good rate.

Amazing place: romantic (for couples), relaxing (for seniors) and magical (for kids)! Some creative parents tell their children fairy tales, while the little ones watch the mysterious underwater world... We are seniors, but we also like to stay nearby and listen to a fairy tale. Don't miss the sea lions show! All three pavilions (Conservation, Spineless and Sharks) are great! And outside you could see penguins, sea lions, otters and seals. The place is very clean, the staff are helpful and pleasant. The food is high quality and affordable. It is also allowed to bring your own meal. You can dine downstairs among the trees and flowers or upstairs on the terrace overlooking the ocean. Come and enjoy your visit!

Almost gave 4 stars because of how little amount of attractions there are (COVID times so it's understandable), but the customer service was amazing! Everyone was so sweet and kind and you still get to touch the jellyfish, stingrays, some fish and sharks. It costs $19 per adult so we payed $38 for two of us and our son who is under 3 was free. Everything is outside, don't be afraid to go up the stairs, that's where the penguins are and some of the stingrays. We finished in about 30 minutes and then walked the pier where we grabbed a coffee and funnel cake. At the aquarium make sure to validate your parking ticket so you only pay $8 when you're leaving. (You need to put the original ticket in and then the validated ticket and the machine will ask for the $8 so don't lose them!)

Had a great time at the aquarium! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the stamp activity on the maps helped us keep my nephew engaged (it works best when embossing one page at a time as pointed out in the instructions). There were lots of people leaving right before 3 PM, so this seemed to be a good time for us to visit (stayed until almost 8 PM though)

NY Aquarium has been recently renovated and got an additions like shark tank. Reserve some time for a visit, take your camera, bring your children and friends and enjoy amazing views if aquatic life. Jelly fish pavilion has magical dark rooms with many types of rare species. Educate yourself with well done supporting information and scientific explanations and visualizations.

Was okay to visit with kids. They opened the outdoor exhibits NOT indoors. It would definitely worth to visit if they open indoors. It took less than 2 hours to see all the outdoor exhibits. Parking needs to be paid separately. There are lots of sanitizers and washing stations, but social distance is not well kept by people.

Best aquarium ever!!! The admission ticket is not expensive for the experience, $49.90 for two people. They open at 10 am and closes at 6 pm. The ticket admission does not include food, beverages, and parking, but the ticket is valid for the whole day. It was worth the price. Parking was $18 for 0-3 hours and $25 for more than 3 hours. They have food trucks inside if you choose to get food. I had a great experience there. My favorite moment was the 4D aqua theater. The place was clean and equipped with hand sanitizer at every exits and entrance.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL aquarium! Such a wide variety of animals from birds, to fish, to sharks! I could have spent all day just watching some of these tanks. It has been a little over 10 years since I have been to this aquarium and it is every bit as fascinating as I remember. The first tank you see is floor to ceiling and has giant sea bass, some sharks hanging out at the bottom and it only gets better from there! The best part for me was the touch pool with the stingrays and sturgeon. The stingrays are really like water puppies! I didn't want to move from this area but there was so much to see! I highly recommend the short film they show. It's a nice little break from walking around. Bring your water bottles and save the oceans because they have refill stations. I can't recommend visiting here enough. It's just gorgeous.

For all the exhibits they offer, the entry price is more than fair. This aquarium is surprisingly large and features both the flora and fauna of our beautiful oceans. I had never even seen or heard of many of the plants and animals they had to show, and there were always educated, friendly staff or information cards nearby to answer any questions. The penguin exhibit was super cute and the chance to touch sting rays was really neat. Near those areas they have very informative interactive displays that explain how rain water is collected and how many water systems in cities work. The aquarium is also situated in a great area for exploring afterward but it isn’t a really recreational beach area. You gotta check this place out if you’re nearby. It’s exciting for children and adults alike!

Such a beautiful aquarium, I adored all the exhibits, especially the shark lagoon made me happy. The volunteers and staff were all very friendly! What a wonderful space for learning about our amazing ocean and everything that comes with it! The daily ticket price does feel a bit too much. Honestly, I would consider getting a membership since daily ticket fees are not that affordable for young adults who aren’t students however I’m still unsure personally.

I went to the Aquarium of the Pacific for the first time on the day they re-opened. I had a great time and would definitely visit again soon! Staff checked our temperature before we entered, we were required to wear masks at all times, as well as adhere to social distancing guidelines. I felt safe and appreciated all of the safety measures put into place. I would highly recommend this exciting and educational activity to people of all ages. There is a fair amount of walking involved, but it's really not THAT big. I think that families with children of all ages, couples, groups, and senior citizens would enjoy visiting this aquarium!

It was a nice visit. Only outdoor is open now. But still we had lots of fun. We went with our 3 year old and he enjoyed well. Kids would love it more. I would really appreciate the efforts put up by the aquarium people in maintaining distancing as well as sanitizing surfaces. Great work

Since they just reopened it was only the outdoor exhibits, but it was still a really great fun. Surprisingly, the bird cage was probably the most fun, as a few of them landed on my head. Souvenirs aren't price-gouged like at Disney, so that's also a big plus.

Nice place to take the kids. Lots of kid friendly exhibits. There's an outdoor are with several touch tanks, and a small playground. They also have a cafe and a small restaurant in the aquarium so you can stay for lunch if you want, it can get a little crowded though around lunch. One of the more fun things to do is feed the birds, they're only hungry at certain times though so you need to come at the right time but when you do they land on you and feed right out of your hand.

What a cool place and way cheaper than I thought it was going to be. Coming from the east coast to CA I kind of had this thought everything was going to be super expensive. Very reasonably priced. I found the aquarium to be super clean. The exhibits were all very cool and I got to see animals we don’t usually have in our southern east coast aquariums. The penguins were super cool.

Aquarium of Pacific is very beautiful. It's been too long that I've been here. It's really nice just to stop and do something different. For the tickets, it's always best to purchase online. It's easier that way. Less things to worry or stress about. The Aquarium of Pacific is very cleaned. The animals are easy to see and very beautiful. The tanks are so well kept. I also enjoy reading all of the signs and having a better understanding where the animals live and where they are located. I learn so much here. The exhibit was really cute. You can touch sting rays. They even have a tank for sharks…. Scary but cool at the same time. The staff employees are very friendly and they provide great service. Always kind. The bathrooms are always stocked and clean. They are very well maintained. A lot of sanitizations around the whole facility. We did so much in a day. We will definitely come back here again. I believe everyone should really check this place. Very exciting for everyone. Overall, I give this place 5 stars.

It was both a first time experience for my husband and I, and we were blown away. We had gone during the weekend, so parking was a bit trickier to find. But the plus is that the aquarium will validate your ticket for a cheaper price! But onto to the good stuff, there were so many exhibits and seeing all the beautiful sea creatures will leave you in awe. From shark lagoon, sea otters, and the penguin habitat there is so much to explore. One of our favorites were the jellyfish, definitely check them out! I also love how much you learn about the fish and the staff are so knowledgeable. We also ate at the cafe and the food was fairly good, quite pricey but pleasant! Family day, solo trip, or a date night - This aquarium will steal your heart with all the wonders of the sea. We cannot wait to be back again!

I really loved the "touch" experiences. The opportunity to pet a shark, feel a star fish, even a jelly fish was amazing. There's plenty to see. We spent a couple of hours there and could've stayed longer if we had stayed for the short films, but figured we can watch videos on nature anytime. It's by the Shoreline Village which offers a scenic and pleasant stroll with shops and restaurants. We took a shuttle from our hotel so can't comment on the parking situation. It was timed entry tickets so a stroll was nice but found places to sit and wait outside.

It's not worth it. I was really excited to be there but was not happy once I was done. Nothing much or different I would say as compared to other aquariums. The ticket is expensive as compared to the experience. If u buy the ticket through city pass make sure you book your time slot. No one informed that to us and we were not allowed to enter without a time slot booking and it was full so could not book one on the spot. Had to go there the next day which screwed our itinerary because it's far n secluded. I planned IOWA n aquarium the same day as they are close by n secluded with the rest of tourist attractions. I gave three star for the space n set up along with shark's to see. N they had a fun activity of stamping a booklet and at the end they give u a prize. N you also get to touch some floral things that are there underwater (added a video of it) Though the prize is the same for everyone -a tote bag.

Prices are affordable place is fun, food is pricey so bring stuff from home if you can food and beverages are allowed. People seemed friendly visited on a Sunday. I recommend you pay attention to the time your tickets are for just because there is a wait time for entrys depending on your ticket purchase. Restrooms where clean.

This was a favorite place of my husband. He used to scuba dive, and many of the displays evoke that experience. It is temporarily closed due to Covid 19. It will be so nice when we can put this behind us and enjoy the beautiful places that have closed as a result of the Corona Virus.

Disappointed that it was only open for outside exhibits. I understand, but I wouldn't have paid so much if I had known and I didn't see anything on the website saying that. I thought that the reservation of time slots was so that they could limit the amount of people inside at a time. That is not what it was for. We do plan on going back when it is open inside though.

Opening is Limited to outdoor activities only, so don't think you'll spend more than an hour here. Suggest to do combo of the harbor cruise tour of long beach with ur visit, so u can stretch ur day of activities. And buy some stuff to support the aquarium! Plush toys were reasonably priced. Got to aquarium by 2pm and was done by 245, then bought tickets for harbor cruise for 330 and was able to walk to Shoreline and come back to hop on the 45 minutes and was having dinner little after 5pm. Little more chilling on boat ride but fun. The kid had a great time and ready for bedtime when we got home <yay>

After receiving approval from Guest Services Director, I was turned away for being disabled and unable to wear a face covering. Fernando and Linde of security seem to not understand the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, neither do they follow orders when their supervisor is not present. I will be pursuing legal action unless this issue is corrected immediately.

Overall it's decent. However it's a rather small aquarium and not worth the price right now ($19.95 adult ticket/ $18 minimum for parking). When I went (end of January) the Spineless exhibit was closed. All the outdoor exhibits were closed: so no penguins or seals or otters. There were no shows or feedings. And the beluga tank that had a whale the last time I visited was empty. These empty outdoor exhibits were actually pretty dirty and even had some trash in the tanks. The exhibits that were open were really cool though. Especially the Sharks exhibit was really good. But you can go through the whole thing in like 15-30 minutes. I was kind of disappointed. I used to come here when I was a kid. I remember it being a lot better then. Perhaps during the summer and during a normal years it's better. And I know they've been working to redo the aquarium since Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Maybe it'll be worth it when they're finished construction and when the world is a bit more normal. Also FYI the tickets are non refundable and you cannot reschedule. Just like with all the other NYC zoos.

What more can an aquatic enthusiast demand? A walkthrough places aptly in the haven of sharks, hovering around and above you, an exotic collection of fish that never fail to amuse and entice you and yes, not to forget, a small scale sea-world kind of aquatic show featuring some enthusiastic dolphins and one really likable sea lion! This place certainly deserves a day’s visit, well, only if fish really excites you and keeps you merry along the tour route!

Wonderful place to visit! You can touch and play with the sting rays and they do love to play with you! Touch the other small sharks, fish, and sea creatures, feel a jelly fish and feed the birds. You can also see inside the procedure room and if your lucky observe one. They have videos and interactive technology to learn about what your seeing. They also have the best viewing windows, they are so big and so many. Definitely a must see!

This place is small compared to other aquariums in the state of California but it is a great spot to distract yourself or have your kids learn about marine life. They have great exhibits and they also have a virtual exhibit customize your own fish and watch it flow on a screen wall. If you need some time to get away from all of the people surrounding the exhibits, you can always go to the gift shop or walk around the lighthouse.

We haven't been here in a while so it's always something nice to go to back to when we can :) I love that they enforce mask rules, but I wish there were more staff around to tell people to keep their masks up because there were so many people with either their masks down or below the nose or no mask at all. I don't understand why people come out if they can't follow the rules. Regardless every exhibit is awesome and I specifically love the jellyfish they have, although I believe there were some animals that weren't on display, not sure if that's Covid related or what? Overall, everything is beautiful!

The new Aquarium of the Pacific. Growing up in LA, had been here many times before. I got to say that quarantine did good to this place. They took advantage of the "down time" and revamped the building 🏢 architecturally it's good for an aquarium, got to check it out. What I really loved is that they expanded their activities and show rooms. Many many tanks. Can actually touch the manta rays and sharks. Fun activities for kids. They took advantage of their back space that was underutilized and filled it with activities. Love the new Aquarium of the Pacific.

Been here since I was in high school. I will definitely recommend this place to friends. Place is not that big but fills with all necessary exhibits that really catch eyes. Seriously it is much cleaner than the sea world in SD. Jellyfish collections are really amazing. If you have kids, bring them here is a very good choice and kill some time and their energy.

Wow! What an amazing place! You can pet the sharks, jelly fish, rays, feed the birds, see all sorts of different fish and sea creatures, and even watch a film on ways to safe the environment through saving the oceans and harnessing its tidal waves for power. So interesting!

Aquarium of the Pacific. This is the first park we are visiting after the pandemic. It is nice that they limit the number of people that get in to the park for the day by having everybody reserve a time slot. They have installed sinks throughout the aquarium as well as hand sanitizing stations throughout the park to help keep the visitors safe. They have also a good deal on their yearly pass with no restrictions and with good benefits. Overall a positive experience.

It's a great aquarium, the animals are well taken care of, even though it was crowded I never felt overwhelmed by the amount of people. If you bring little kids I would recommend you to get the aquarium map and find all the stamps throughout the aquarium, it will keep the entertained and make them learn about the animals they are trying to find.

Definitely a great place to explore, learn and have fun for the kids! Besides it has been renovated and great things were added. If you live close by , anual membership would be the prefect choice for you! $159 simple family package which include parents and all kids living in the same household. 👍

Had a great time today at the aquarium! It has been about a year since I've been but there are some new interactive areas that my kids loved. There is a room where you color in fish or a shark and the coloring shows up on a large projected screen. This was my son's favorite We got here about 11am and a lot of the animals were active. It also was not top busy even though it was presidents day. It got busier by the time we left at 2pm. I was able to get photos of octopus moving, turtles, penguins, and many more animals. If you have a AAA membership I would recommend buying through them cause the tickets are slightly cheaper. My kids and I always love seeing all the animals!

A well-curated, well-staffed local highlight in downtown Long Beach, the Aquarium of the Pacific is a great place to learn about California's ocean and what lives in them. The Aquarium has plenty of parking in a structure directly across from the facility (automatic kiosks will let you self validate so you only pay the Museum rate of $8). There are 2 places to get food (A cafe on the first floor and an actual restaurant on the second floor), and the people working them are nice. The fast service and decent quality doesn't make up for the extreme prices, so if your budget is tight, eat before you go. If you do order from the sit down restaurant, there is one outstanding thing; the view of the seal enclosure from the window tables. There are plenty of hands on exhibits and very friendly and knowledgeable docents to help you out, and they really make the Aquarium a pleasure to visit. If you have special needs kids, do be aware that several of the galleries can be disorienting and uncomfortable, and the noise and chaotic movement of crowds can be exhausting. Fortunately, there are seating areas if you need a rest. Bathrooms are plentiful on both floors and come with changing tables. Water fountains and hand wash stations are all over the place. There's an outdoor play area for toddlers and plenty of interactive fun to keep you busy all day.

The aquarium was well laid out. The outside exhibits had tanks where you could pet rays and sharks. There was also an exhibit showing some water birds. The holding tank was also nice and currently holds some large rays. The indoor exhibits had some nice educational sections that talked about the growing population and carbon dioxide emissions. The student volunteers were also well informed and gave good information about the abalone breeding program that the aquarium has. There was also a program to raise awareness for an endangered porpoise. There were some interactive exhibits that were sanitized well. The parking was close by with plenty of space. There were also many places nearby to eat. There is also a good view of the queen Mary.

This place is always great. Also a great learning place for kids with a ray touching pool and an aviary, The birds will sit on your hand and eat from seed cups... Lots of sea life from around the world, plenty to see for the whole family they even have several sea lions and a very large Sea Ray in the upper Ray pool... You can take a 2 1/2 hour whale watching tour also, we saw a few hundred dolphins and a fin whale on our last trip..

Beautiful place with lots of different environments to see filled with their various plants, animals, and everything in between. Some hands on exhibits let you interact with a few types of animals, walk through tunnels filled with gigantic water tanks, some even with waves! Wonderful place to take the family or a date, just be sure to make your reservation before you get there.

This place is amazing. They have wonderful display tanks to admire all of the beautiful fish. You can go outside and touch the starfish and jellyfish. There are a few eatery places inside along with snacks to buy. Bathrooms are very clean and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is right across the street and they do validate your visit. You can even leave the facility and return the same day as long as you get a stamp on your hand on the way out. Sometimes they have giveaways like FREE posters and such. There is a great big gift shop near the exit to buy cool things. Wonderful place for a kids field trip and great to place to visit and enjoy with family and friends. Highly recommend !!!

This aquarium is so nice!! And the area surrounding is very nice and new. It feels like Newport, but without the beach. The aquarium has everything you could imagine. From baby jelly fish to poison arrow frogs, etc. Even more exciting was the "pet the fish zone." You can pet a live swimming sturgeon!! Also, theres sharks, stingrays, starfish, and many other creatures too. It exceeded my expectations. Next time we may even stay in Long Beach. It's a beautiful location.

My family and I (fiance, two children) visited the Aquarium of the Pacific this past Thursday 5/11. We did not have to wait to enter, although there was a decent turn out for a Thurs. The staff were courteous and welcoming. I had not visited the AOTP in several years and it was much smaller than I remember. I'll boil it down to a few points: If you have small children like I do, ages 6 & under, they will have a blast. The small size and humility of this location was less intimidating to my small kids. The simple exhibits and boat/playground in the outdoor/patio area were more than enough to make their day. If you're looking for excitement and more adult oriented fun, this may not be the place. #Kid Friendly 😅

It was a good experience. We need to reserve tickets a day ahead, at least. It takes more than 3 hours to complete the whole tour. Kids love this place. Pets are not allowed. While leaving the aquarium, ask for the parking ticket validation, which helps in paying $8 only for the parking. otherwise, it would cost more.

We've wanted to visit for years - I'm so glad we finally made the time to go. It's a great aquarium! My 17 year old and I spent hours walking around and really enjoyed all the exhibits. There are some unique animals that we don't have in any of our local aquariums. I was able to get discount tickets through my union which made it even better!

Visting Aquarium of the Pacific has transformed me into an aquarium LOVER! The touching pools were SO AWESOME!!! touching the sting rays, the sturgeon and the moon jellies was one of the coolest experiences ever. The star fish and anemone touch experience was also pretty cool. Seeing an axolotl in real life was a joy. The sea lion and bay seal show would made anyone smile. I would absolutely go back to the Aquarium of the Pacific. It's such a fun place to visit. In the mean time I'm planning visits to all the aquariums in my local area 🐟🐠🐡🦑

It was absolutely amazing. I felt like a child, it was our first time so we started walking around and kinda get lost until a worker told us that we could use the book as a guide to get through all the aquariums and complete the stamps for a gift, we were missing so many things and animals we didn’t even though could be there, the book literally show us everywhere to go, staff was friendly, they also have educational and care videos about the ocean, gift shop prices were good and some are made from sustainable sources. If you wanna do whale tours you need to wait for a schedule, I recommend buying online

If you like oceans and seas and everything that is connected with them, then you should definitely visit this aquarium. In addition to seeing the ocean inhabitants, I learned a lot about them, the guide tells a lot of interesting facts, I also learned that during the pandemic, the owner of the aquarium sold everything she had and moved to live there and slept on a cot, just to have money to keep the aquarium, also many families donated money to help, on the territory there is a long wall, where engraved thanks to each family that contributed. I think this is the highest level of kindness and humanity, all the animals are kept in the best conditions ♥️ we were able to not only see but also pet some of the sea creatures, it's incredible!!!! There is also a small park with parrots, an aquarium with seals, a separate aquarium with penguins. I was impressed by what I saw and definitely recommend this place and wish it prosperity 👍🏼

Being one of the few family attractions open during Covid this seemed to be the winning vote. The exhibits are only a very limited few that are able to be held outdoors to ensure proper social distancing. I think we would have passed on the visit had we known it was as stripped down as it was. Plan on 30 minutes. Tops.

My family was looking for an unique outing experience with a few hours to spare. We have been talking about visiting another aquarium down south, but we didn't have a bunch of time to make the expense worthwhile... so we looked for an alternative and found Pier 39. Yes, it's a tourist trap and yes, it's expensive for what it is, BUT you can almost always get some kind of deal and this aquarium is very cool for what it is--a small aquarium. Go during the off season when it's not packed with tourists and put some of your favorite music on your iPod while watching fish swimming around and above you.

It was a very nice outing for small children. I took three girls 9, 10, and 11 years old. They all had a blast despite everything being outside. It is a smallish aquarium - but we're used to the one at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore which is one of the best in the country (so I am told). We had a great time here. It was a little hot and wearing a mask doesn't make it any better but I recommend spending the extra money and going for the Aquarium and whale watching tour. You get nice and warm and tired walking around looking at the animals and petting the jellys and rays then you end the day on boat where you get to sit, drink a beer, and watch some blue whales. Bring a jacket it gets cold!!

  • 5/5 Brian V. 3 years ago on Google
It has definitely changed a lot since I last came here when I was 12. A return was set in motion and I came here with a friend and we absolutely enjoyed it! We unfortunately missed the Bird petting outside and the Jellyfish Petting as well Nooooo T . T But we were able to do everything else, and I must say, my favorite part, was interacting with the staff working here. The staff are honest, and absolutely bright and very knowledgeable. They handle the animals with so much respect and joy, and ensure how to educate the public in how we ought to conserve and protect our environment and the wildlife living in it. My second part, was in the very beginning. I got a manicure from a special kind of shrimp! The staff told me how it would clean the dead skin cells and other things from your hands and the experience was so cool!! The girls were super super nice and funny, definitely a memorable moment! The third best part were the penguins and jellyfish! Watching jellyfish is such a therapeutic thing to do, especially with the music they make. And seeing the penguins, will turn anyone into a child again. Highly loved the Seal show as well! It was funny and cool!! Something I recommend is bringing your ticket with you from parking so you can get it validated inside, before you leave back to your car. Once you have it validated, then you go to the machine, pay it and can leave peacefully. I also suggest bringing a thin sweater, as some places get really really cold! Lastly, I would suggest bringing a portable charger. Some sections, your phone can not get signal and it will drain your battery mad fast. I can't wait to come back again and be like a kid again!!

Where to start? The entire experience at Aquarium of the Bay was hands-down the highlight of my San Fran trip. My husband and I arrived around 10am on a Friday. We started by looking at tanks filled with sea creatures ranging from eels, fishies, a baby shark, sand dabs, and a "Finding Nemo" tank that had all the fishes from the movie. There were also a lot of factoids about the Bay Area and a display of what our seas look like with trash. This particular exhibit had some hermit crabs, wandering amongst the glass bottles and whatnot.

As aquariums go, this is a good one, not the best but not too shabby at all. Lots of animals to see and touch, which is always a plus. Lots to learn which is always a big plus. My only issue with it has to do with the fact that it can get so busy and so full of kids be it during the school year or in the summer with camps, and I know that’s true of many of these type of places but it does take a bit of the joy. But don’t let that stop you from going.

The aquarium's a fascinating sight for schools & families! I've been there when I was in 1st grade, & all the fish looked wonderful! Sometimes, when we needed help, the employees were there to help & led us to the right destination that we needed to go to! School field trips are amazingly allowed, which I'm proud at, 'cause I'm sure many schools want to see the amazing experience of fish. It'll also teach kids how species of fish are have similarities & differences, its history, etc! The place again is a very fascinating sight for all people to see! Anyone who'd like to come here can be able to enjoy their happy stay!

Excellent experience visiting the outdoor exhibits. Family friendly. During COVID, try to reserve your entry time online in advance. Save some money parking in their structure, then have the first two hours validated as you leave the aquarium. Purchasing the nectar before you enter the enclosed bird exhibit is worth it, just be aware the birds might startle you (or small children) immediately upon entering the exhibit!

Amazing experience. My family and I went there and it was great. They dont have a ton of animals, but its just enough. The kids were so happy they got to touch the fish and sting rays. The staff was great and seemed energetic and friendly to the guests. Overall really great would come again.

Really had a great time at the aquarium with my family! However since Covid is still going on they have closed the inside of the aquarium to the public. So if you’re interested in going or are attending be aware of that! I would say we took about an hour to explore the aquarium.

  • 5/5 Sarah G. 3 years ago on Google
It was our first time back since the shutdown in March. The outdoor exhibits are very nicely kept. The food and juice bars outside were open, and the restrooms were nice and clean.

  • 5/5 Vianca B. 3 years ago on Google
Very fun and exciting. I took my 3 grand children we had a blast with the touch tank. We say the largest sting ray I have ever seen.

  • 3/5 Cathy F. 3 years ago on Google
This place makes me so happy! Giraffes, monkeys, bears and a beautiful tiger too! I highly recommend, I think this was one of the biggest zoos we have been to and the animals had a lot of space to roam around. If you have a Los Angeles address there is a discount. We also parked outside the lot because parking was easy.

  • 5/5 Lloyd A. 3 years ago on Google
Of course it's a pretty short exhibit, but it's pretty cool! The mango smoothie itself is to die for, and the bird exhibit is so worth it if you like birds flying on you. Buy the feed for the birds and they will hunt you from all over!! It's great.

  • 4/5 Barb B. 3 years ago on Google
Loved it. The sea lion show was adorable. And the shark thank is beautifully designed. Maybe a little bit small for a huge place as NY.

  • 5/5 Carmen V. 3 years ago on Google
What a beautiful day it was at the aquarium. They have the most amazing fish tanks. And the fish are all so beautiful. My favorite was the spineless aquarium. The jelly fish were so outstanding. And what about the octopus. Awesome

  • 3/5 Dvir K. 3 years ago on Google
Located next to the beautiful boardwalk and very close to the Q line. The display is magnificent, you will definitely see some amazing views of fish. The exhibit explanations are not very elaborate. No food or drink available at this time unless you can do with readymade sandwiches from the gift shop. Currently the spineless hall is closed so significantly less things to see. Some of the interactive displays are either inaccessible or not functional. Feeding shows are weather dependent so try to avoid rainy days (although the indoor displays are great for wet weather). The nearby Coney island amusement park is currently closed.

Was perfect for my two year old. Any older and the kid would be bored. The sea lion show was cute but not impressive. All in all we spent an hour there with a two year old and it was good. Any more time there or an older child would’ve been a problem.

  • 3/5 Marc M. 3 years ago on Google

  • 1/5 David J. 3 years ago on Google
Most of it is closed and there are basically 2 exhibits open and a 15 show. The penguin, otter, other outdoor exhibits can't be seen as they are roped off, glass is tok high to see over, and the glass is so dirty you can't see into the tank. The aquarium used to be great but this place is not worth the money. Better aquatic experience at the Bronx zoo.

After reading through many recent negative reviews, I decided to take my family to the aquarium to see for ourselves if it was true. Well, it’s true. Half the exhibits are closed. Huge bummer! However, the exhibits that are open are really cool and beautiful! The shark exhibit takes your breath away, really. I’m giving this aquarium a neutral review because the bad outweighed the food and vice versa. Will I be coming back? Absolutely.

This is an amazing museum. You can spend the whole day here. The indoor rain forest is impressive. There are butterflies surrounding you and it's just like you're in a real rain forest. There're also many other sections. You can see different types of animals, like jelly fish, various types of butterflies. This is also a white crocodile. In the ocean section, you get to touch sea cucumbers. There's also a cafeteria. You're not supposed to bring outside food in, so you can get food there if you want to eat. The prices are okay, but it's very crowded. It's a good place for adults and kids.

I absolutely love the aquarium! It is a great place to take children and explore the different species that live in different areas of the world/all the different oceans, rivers, lakes, etc. It is always so clean, the tanks are also always kept to the highest standard which is most important in my opinion (as the animals that occupy them should have decent habitats if they aren't in the wild). The short movies/films are always so well done and occur many time throughout the day; they do a great job of making it so you can see one if you would like during your visit. It is a bit pricey and the parking is another (overpriced) fee but annually it is worth it as it is a nice experience and one you will remember. Enjoy :)

  • 3/5 Shellee N. 3 years ago on Google
It was fun but 90% of it was closed. The only thing that was open was the outside space but you had to also make a reservation so that you could be spread out. Which I understand but why not do the same for the inside space? 😕 if I knew I wouldn't have gone. We were done in about 15 mins or so and costed me over 160 since I took my kids and nephews. That was just the money to get inside. Not mentioning the money I spent at the aquarium. Such a waste of money. For such a short amount of time. Really sad about it. Hopefully it will be all open soon so yhe kids can actually enjoy the whole thing and learn something new.

This aquarium is worth your time and money! You should expect to spend a few hours or even half a day there so make sure you give yourself enough time to enjoy the aquarium. There are a lot of live shows to enjoy. I really liked the jelly fish touch tank and ray touch tank! And despite the fact that they don't have manatees and the entrance fee is a bit high, they do have an amazing shark aquarium. They even have birds! Also, you can't bring in food or drinks but if you do have picnic tables outside where you can eat.

I remember going as a kid and loving it. We,now grown up took our kids. Due to covid regulations only outside exhibits were open. We were done inside aquarium in under 2 hours. In short, for $20 per person you can go inside a bird cage and touch a jelly fish on the way out. See a few little sharks in a small tank. Some huge Ray's in a even smaller tank. Also route to the the aquarium isn't so family/kid friendly.

It was okay. Pretty unfriendly staff. We had driven 4 hours, we got there at 11:30 , had reservations for 2:30. We hoped they’d let us in but we had to wait by the docks. They wouldn’t let us in 5 minutes early after we had waited that entire time. Theres only a few exhibits open, it took less than an hour to walk around. There were many people not wearing their mask, they had it below their mouth & nose. The food area was extremely crowded and packed in with no masks or social distancing.

For 20 dollars, plus the cost of 8 dollar parking and some time apent reserving your space online, you can visit the aquarium of the pacifics outdoor exhibits now. That seems a bit steep when you consider it only includes the sharks, the moon jellies, the lorikeets the sea lions the rays and the penguins. But after spending so much time away from normalcy, and knowing how hard the staff works to keep this place open, I think ita a fair price to touch and experience so much wonder. The rays were excited and happy to be touched, going so far as to flap their fins and lean into gentle pets. The penguins were energetic and eager to meet patrons at the glass, and the lorikeets were more than willing to fly to anyone with a nectar cup! These happy creatures brought me joy. The sea lions honked and went about their normal day to day business and we enjoyed a nice picnic of sorts on the tiered seating while having a rather cute and pleasant view. In fact we stayed long enough to catch the feeding when they were understandably at their most energetic. Sinks were available after petting the marine life, and sanitary atations were clearly and visibly available in every space. There were clear instructions to stay 6 ft apart and though not everyone was adhering to that I cant blame that on the staff. Children will be children. But I'm pleased they still got to experience such joy in the company of animals and well informed staff.

The aquarium has expanded since we visited last with a 2 story addition filled with interactive technology, giant wall screen projections, and an overall message to value sustainability. We were hosting a family with a small boy and they purchased an annual pass because they believed their son would enjoy it so much. Parking is very easy with a structure right next to the building that validates for an easy $8 price for parking for the day. Lots of restaurants in the area as well in walking distance. It was a great day for the family.

Keeping in mind you need to reserve your entry in advanced, this is a very nice facility. It has a lot of very interesting sea-life to see and some fun interactions such as petting jellyfish. My friend and I spent about 90 minutes here though with a family/children one could be here for hours. The theater was an impressive feature though the message of the movie was a bit dated and stale. Overall I would highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

My son and I have had passes for the past 3 years. This is our favorite place to go on my days off. If you have a toddler that you know won't last too long, coming at 9am is the best! You can see all of the exhibits and go outside and pet the sting rays before 10! The snack bar is a little pricey, but okay if you need something. Sometimes the parking validation doesn't go through. Other than that its a great place.

This aquarium was fun! We had an awesome time! It’s big and has a lot of different fishes and other animals to look at. It’s clean and I love how there were hand sanitizers everywhere. The kids can color fishes and see their creation on a big tv like screen, which I thought was pretty cool. There’s also drink and snacks sold inside the aquarium. There is also a gift store as well with reasonable prices. Kids will enjoy this aquarium as well as adults. Not to mention there’s a petting pool with sting rays and a sturgeon as well. Great place to take the kids as well to enjoy some family time!

I love coming here. Only negative is the price of admission is too high. Staff was awesome, friendly and willing to answer all questions. Clean exhibits. Gift shop was amazing.

A great place for kids and adults. They have three touch pools. You can feed jellies, Sting Rays, and small sharks. Totally worth going can see it all in one day which is great!!! Have fun

How fun!!! I've been wanting to come here for years!! I had the chance of coming with my little nephews. We both had a blast! Lots of sea animals with information about each written on the side. There's also volunteers going around sharing info about the animals. We were able to see feedings time in the shark tank. They also have a 🦜 parrot cage were you can feed the birds. They're so people friendly. We were able to pet the sturgeon! Sting ray to. We saw penguins seahorses OMG! Awesome!!! They have 2 souvenir areas to shop from. A mini cafe and 2 snacks and drink carts outside.

I really enjoyed my visit to this aquarium. The seal exhibit is a lot of fun to watch and the aviary is a great addition. You can buy little nectar cups that the birds love and they seem very comfortable with people. They built an impressive theater with a double screen. Highly recommend this as a day long activity and popping over to berth 55 fish market for a late lunch.

Smaller but beautiful aquarium. Touch tanks, interactive areas, plenty of places to purchase food in or nearby the wharf area. If you don't pay attention you may miss a neat encounter or hidden area!

Greatest petting experience: Manta Ray's and feeding birds. Nice Imax curved theater. Missed the Seals show. Wouldn't have missed it if I knew right in the front entryway with a bulletin or the time for shows. Gotta make it more convenient for tired tourist that just want to relax. Also their political views on conservation and depopulation. It would work if they started cleaning and maintaining the beach right next door full of needles, trash and debris.

We take 90 minutes to 2 hours here but we absolutely do everything. Look at the fish read the signs. Then we do outside to touch tanks, a ton of fun. Then we went to the aviary and walked through there. The parking is really nice and inexpensive. Don't eat the over priced mediocre food. Instead go to one of the surrounding places and enjoy good food for much less. Tickets are about 40$ but very much worth it. Oh and the movies they show are decent but will bore the littles

Nice experience with my son and husband. We watched the short movie together twice!! Very impressive! I suggest everyone should see it. Our planet needs our attention. After visit the aquarium, you can stop by the deck, located in front of the parking. Walk to the little park next to the sea. Enjoy your day.

Love this place, I wish we live close by, we drove 1 hour to get here but it is so worth! Playing with birds was so much fun, the boys enjoyed the petting of the sharks, sting rays and jellyfish. The star fish touch pool was closed. This is a beautiful place! Thank you for the experience!

Only thing is when arriving at the parking lot, I read the maximum ticket price was $8 which turned into $12 upon paying to leave. No big price jump, but I'm thinking maybe the marquee was wrong?

Great area, check in went smoothly, quite a few nice things to see but Still felt like there wasn’t enough especially for the price. The bare minimum. Still my 2 daughters age 3 & 5 had fun.

Penguins, seals and sea otters my favorite sea animals. Great tropical aquariums with lots of coral, fish and anenomes. Great place to spend three hours. Oh and you can pet rays and even a sturgeon.

So many cool exhibits, and a very knowledgeable team ready to share facts. Tip: dont forget to get your parking pass validated (if you aren't a member, I suppose), we saved a couple dollars - and were able to eat lunch next door without having to worry about parking. I have not been here in over a decade, so loved bringing my kids here for the first time. We live in Tampa, FL, and visit the Florida Aquarium all the time - we have River Otters and Lemurs at ours - but it was awesome to see Sea Otters and Seals... and Penguins! The only negative for me was with the birds - paid for the nectar, and the first bird came over and knocked the cup out of my older son's hand - staff girl was next to us and saw it happen, but only gave him a small squirt to replace the entire cup spillage... big bummer and disappointing. But the birds are really pretty - and it's always fun for the kids. Best part for me was getting the stamps from the machines, in the booklet - I found them all! Fun (free) souvenir from the experience, and the gift shop was awesome, too. My son picked out an axolotl, and I got my usual shot glass. Also, they still have squished pennies! We really enjoyed the visit and would love go back on our next CA trip.

We enjoyed ourselves. I liked that everyone wore a mask. Everyone tried their best to stay their distance. The bathroom was clean. There is lot of other things to see just have to come see for your selves. My 5 year old granddaughter loves it there.

Just to pet the sea flap flaps (sting rays), jellyfish, and sharks, I would go again. Also got to feed birds. The staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely a great place to take the kids or to go on a date. There are interactive stations and videos, and the gift shops have some really adorable finds.

Great place to visit! Our favorite exhibit was the Lorikeets they are so cute and friendly. Glad we purchased the nectar they ate from our hand and hung out our on shoulders. The other exhibits are very cool too. Very kid friendly.

Not the largest aquarium. And a bit expensive for the size but still a cool exhibit and place to be! I loved the outside exhibits they had.

Do the general admission + harbor tour; It’s worth every penny! My first time petting a stingray (they have excellent vision so when you place your flat hand into the water, the stingray will see your hand and approach. Gently touch the middle of their back and remember to use your hand and not the tips of your fingers to avoid scratching them with your nails)

Very nice aquarium, It was bigger and had more to see than I had expected. Perfect for kids of all ages. Even my 5 month old baby enjoyed seeing all the aquatic life. Our favorite was the jelly fish exhibit. We also really enjoyed touching the starfish, rays, and small sharks too.It There was plenty of room to social distance/have a hyperactive kid move around without interrupting others. There’s also plenty of areas to sit and take breaks with small kids. Would definitely be back if we visit Long Beach again!

A very awesome experience overall. Both inside and outside areas were clean, and fun to be. Although a physically smaller area compared to other known aquariums, it still provided and brought well all the same sights and activities.

We have been up and down the coast of all the Pacific and I think this is one of the best. It surpasses Monterey. Very well done. I was so impressed don't miss it. Also better than the Birch and data point. Don't miss it. Very friendly. There's a restaurant and a beautiful gift shop and parking is $8

Love this place! It was my boys first time and they loved it, I think my only complaint would be that they need more stuff to do for kids. They had an outdoor play area that was great! But that was about it. Not too crowded during the week, but I imagine the weekends would be pretty crowded. Food is good, but expensive. Seeing the animals and touching the stingrays we're great 👍

Took my 6 year old niece. As soon as we walked I she told the Employee, "I haven't been here in months! I Love it here!!" Lots to do for children. The Aquarium itself is really not that big. It's 2-3 floors. They have an Aviary & small pools where they can reach in and touch sting rays, small sharks, etc. I definitely recommend taking your children some snacks and if they like juice ...... take some! I bought a 16 oz orange juice for my niece & it was $7 !!! 😲 Too much if you're on a budget. Also if you plan to buy drinks take your own recyclable straws. They do not give straws with your drinks. Also I use a walker and everything is ♿️ accessible. They have ramps & elevators. They also have a water splash area! So if your children like to get wet take extra clothes for them. 👍🏼

First thing to note is that you need to reserve the date/time for entry. If you have AAA you get a pretty good discount per ticket. There is so much to see and do. You can easily spend 4+ plus hours here. They have theatre’s, lots of exhibits, learning centers where you get to touch starfish, jellyfish, stingrays, and sharks. There is also a really yummy cafe upstairs and they serve alcohol. Parking is easily accessible across the street (bring your parking ticket with you to get it validated at the exit of the aquarium for $8)

Outside of Monterey Bay aquarium, the Aquarium of the Pacific is probably the only experience that comes remotely close to MBA. The facility has a beautiful exterior and the staff are super friendly and attentive. We had a shirt visit but this is definitely a place where you can easily spend 6 hours. It's educational and their efforts to create awareness of how we are literally destroying our only earth is eye opening. I think the only thing I didn't see there were marine turtles. I could be wrong. We got a souvenir for $3, which was such an incredible value. There are lots of places to eat nearby and it is just accessible and easy to get to. Highly recommend it.

This place is very nice for the whole family. It was a bit pricey but worth it. They have a lot of exhibits. And best of all they have a scavenger hunt in all of their booklets. Lots of walking. And parking is near by. They do sell snacks and food. And lots of gift shops. This has smaller tanks but lots of them. They have inside and outside exhibits. It gets hot outside in the summer months.

We visited the Aquarium of the Pacific and feel it was money well spent. There are loads of interactive displays, learning opportunities, friendly volunteers to answer your questions and most importantly, loads of aquariums! We arrived right at opening and didn't have to wait to get in. The aquarium is well organized and they do a great job of highlighting when and where presentations will be held. They have numerous aquariums filled with very cool sea life. They also have a shark, penguin, and sea lion / seal area. There are tide pools where you can "pet" the creatures if you'd like. I think the hidden gem here is if you're interested in whale watching you can book it through the aquarium along with access to the aquarium. For us, this was perfect because we could go early and checkout the aquarium and then jump on a boat to go look for whales. The cost was incredibly reasonable (we saved over $200 for our family of four to do both rather than just a whale watching excursion). The excursion comes with a knowledgable crew and you go out for a significant time. We were out for three hours! You'll want to bring sunscreen and hold onto your hats because it gets windy on the open waters. We were lucky enough to see a pod of common dolphins and a blue whale (we went in July). If you're going to whale watch use this route because it's cheaper and you're on the water for longer.

Unique and impressive aquarium for it's size. Enjoyed seeing the local wildlife and many fishes I hadn't seen before. The jellyfish and octopuses were also very cool. Definitely get there early. By 11AM on a Wednesday, it was already getting crowded.

We went there on my son's birthday, Beautiful place, very humble staff, volunteer children very knowledgeable and helpful. The food was really yummy 😋, we enjoyed it very much. my son enjoyed it so much that it was difficult for us to bring him back home, He wanted to stay there 😆. Love to visit again soon. Thank you 'Aquarium of the Pacific' making this day special.🤪 Much love and respect 🙏

Excellent place for the kiddos. The exhibits are well maintained. The outdoor shark tank and the walk-in bird experience are a must-see. Took my father in law when he came into town and he loved it. We loved it so much we bought a membership and have been back twice already. Membership pricing is pretty affordable for the value too.

I found the Aquarium of the Pacific attraction to be somewhat lacking in value for the ticket price. The prices are as follows: * Adult = $45 * Age 3 to 11 = $30 * Under 3 = Free I was genuinely surprised by the limited number of attractions and how swiftly we were able to explore the entire facility. Interestingly, it felt like there were more food stands than actual aquarium exhibits. Food prices, as you can imagine, are very expensive. I ended up spending nearly as much on food as I did on the tickets themselves, which I considered to be on the expensive side. Your tickets are for a specific time slot throughout the day, meaning, if you purchase tickets for 11 a.m., it means you can't enter any earlier than that time, anytime after is fine though. Parking in the parking garage cost me ~ $15. While the kids did had a good time, I still believe that the overall value was lacking in my opinion. On a brighter note, the seals were undoubtedly the highlight of the visit. One last thing, if you're military and want a discount you can't do this online as with most other theme parks, you'll have to buy them at the entrance.

This was one of my best visits in california.Aquariums teach kids about nature and caring for one helps them learn responsibility. If you watch the videos, you see how educative and interesting the place is. There are tour guides who will explain and educate u on the animals and fishes.

Went with someone else and we both loved it. Spent several hours here. They had multiple activities and plenty of staff for help and/or educational purposes. Got to touch sting rays, starfish, and several aquatic plants. Absolutely loved this place. It is a must visit if you're in LA. This is the best aquarium I've been to within the US. Make sure to get your parking verified upon exit makes parking only $8.
