Nice restaurant with great atmosphere which looks ordinary from the outside but interesting interior. Beautiful and delicious food! Huge range of cocktail and wine list. Service slightly off, had to wait for one of the dishes for a long time. Nice and Friendly waiter and waitress. Clean and well maintained. Highly recommended! :)

A must-try restaurant in Brisbane! The ambience is amazing and the service was great. The food was very interesting with a unique touch. We tried the tasting menu with wine pairing and we loved the experience. Definitely worth checking out. You can make a booking via their website - generally 1-2 weeks prior would be a good idea. Organise your parking as there is very limited parking on streets. Some of the street parking has clearway signs after certain times so please check before you park :)

Well, the dining scene in Fortitude Valley has certainly improved in the 25 years since I was last here. Agnes is a world class restaurant and we had a world class dinner. As you will know, everything is cooked over coals. And tastes delicious. The building is very impressive, split over multiple floors. Having taken you so long to get a reservation, you certainly won't want to leave.

Absolutely divine. The service was very attentive and the waitress who served our table gave really good recommendations. Some of the dishes were on the saltier side but the flavours really compensated it. The steak was beautifully done and the tuna was unique but heavenly. Price point is on the upper end so I would only go on special occasions.

This was an easy top 3 world wide fire-based restaurant for me. To preface my experience, I’ve been to several others including in Sydney, London, Nee York and Switzerland - and we have 3 firewood based bbqs at home. We are huge fans of wood fire cooking. The spice influence of every dish, the balance and creativity will leave your senses swirling. The tenderness of the meat, and the inventiveness of the use of fire or coal related distances (charred leak dust, smoked cream, flame roasting and braising) was incredible. The restaurant should absolutely have a cookbook. If the meal was to the quality we had, you will leave stunned in a lovely atmosphere. One mention was the desert - Valhrona mousse, salt + Smoked cream… likely the best desert I’ve ever tasted. Its simplicity and complexity all in one bowl was mind blowing. Congrats Agnes. We will be back.

I wish that we'd loved the experience from end to end. When you enter the dimly lit restaurant, your eyes are drawn to the the flame from their amazing woodfired grills and oven. We were greeted warmly. Expectations were running high. We enjoyed the bread, smoked butter and the lamb ribs. As it turned out, these were the only dishes which really hinted at being cooked over, in or near wood fire. The turbot was perfectly cooked but the sauce, a bit overpowering. The pork was chewy and small in portion. Our side of carrots looked great but was undercooked. We didn't stay for dessert.

Went there for my birthday lunch which happened to be Fathers Day! From the get go pleasantly welcomed by a staff member. Every single staff we encountered were delightful. Food was well presented, delicious and generous. Incredible ambience with the open concept. Can’t rave enough about service at this place so thoughtful and lovely!

Service was excellent. The preparation and crafting of the dishes were fine, but many just lacked a bit of flavour and balance. I found the flatbread was VERY salty. We really enjoyed the lamb. And the 2 side dishes, pumpkin and leeks, were very tasty. The chocolate mousse was a pleasant finish.

Amazing foodie experience Agnes is set in what looks like a converted warehouse and the interior is industrial style with an open kitchen. The food here is truly amazing, it's cooked to perfection and the presentation is beautiful. The wine list is extensive - but perhaps it's a little too long and could be trimmed down. We really only enjoyed 2 out of the 4 wines that we sampled. The service is excellent - the staff were super attentive and helpful. It's nicey but pricey!!

This is a great restaurant… The food is an experience itself, which is like an explosion of unique and different tastes. The atmosphere of the restaurant is just right for a quiet evening. The staff are nice and friendly. The management was kind enough to give us discount for the delay and the wait for the table, which is a very nice gesture. Great food, great ambiance, friendly staff…if you're a foodie, dining here is an experience you should not miss.

Flawless in every way! The food, the service, the ambiance, the venue, just wonderful. We came here for a birthday dinner and it was perfect. Everything was gluten free too! Most of the menu is gluten free and the staff know which dishes aren’t and can let you know what to avoid. Some of those dishes can be altered to be gluten free too. It was a magical evening and I can’t wait to go back!

I would dine here every week if I could. We had the tasting menu for 2 people. It was incredibly delicious food, lots of variety, good portion size. If they did pick-up, I would totally order the oysters & mousse with pistachio & cream!! Service was great - very knowledgeable waitstaff. Wine recommendation was on point, so were the cocktails. I cannot wait to go back again.

Best restaurant in Brisbane! Each dish was delightful and unique. Favourites were the cheddar gougere, lamb sweetbread and the duck. Excellent service and perfect place for date nights! Would definitely be back.

What a fantastic restaurant! It is moody and industrial inside with an open kitchen so you can enjoy the fire. Service was quick and attentive, drinks were wonderful. I loved all of the dishes we ordered, special mention to the crumpets as they were divine. Everything is presented beautiful and were very tasty. Would definitely come back again to try the seasonal things on the menu!

I cannot sing enough praises about this place. Everything from the ambience, to the dark furniture, choice of background music, and just the lively rhythm of the service team - it’s pure theatrical. Heck, they dedicate one person who runs the pass 100% of the time! Then there’s the food - they tickle your taste senses to no end! Portion sizes are actually decent compared to other casual fine dining places! They also have a vibey classy bar area at the back! Highly recommend to try their ‘starters’ and ‘snacks’ items - I tried 90% of them & all of them were incredible! Hats off to Agnes’ chefs & the culinary team!

Is this the No. 1 restaurant in Qld? It could be. Dined here Friday night with the family. First impression is of a dimly lit warehouse atmosphere with bench tables , very cozy very welcoming. We went nuts with our order and pretty much ordered a bit of everything , at a price of course. Service was efficient food was exceptional . I probably would not call it fine dining as that comes with a higher standard of service. Plates could have been changed a little more often and perhaps they should have realized that we needed side plates for the exceptional deserted. heck I would go back just for the desert. All in all an excellent dining experience that you should try. Sits up there with some of the finer dining venues in Brisbane.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary at Agnes. Our dining experience was truly remarkable, especially the tasting menu. Initially, we had our doubts about the portion sizes, but to our pleasant surprise, we ended up completely satiated. Each dish presented a unique and memorable culinary adventure, making it impossible to single out a favorite. Every course stood out with its distinct and special character.5🌟

Celebrated hubby’s bday and we had the $95 tasting menu and it was DEVINE chefs kiss. Every plate was presented beautifully. Staff were friendly and professional. We were seated close to the open kitchen where we can see the wood fire kitchen and the chefs working in harmony, a beautiful thing to watch. The overall ambience of the restaurant 5⭐️. Few off-street parking outside the restaurant. Quiet street. Highly recommended.

Dry aged duck and lamb were amazing. One of the best ducks I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection with flavoursome combination of ingredients. Lighting was a smidge too dark in favour of ambience/mood setting. Will def return.

Awesome service from Indy and Carles. One of the best meals I've ever had. Every dish was incredible, flavours were next level. It's hard to pick a favourite because they were all that incredible.

Came here for lunch for a business function. The entry is unsuspecting, but when you enter, it is a completely different atmosphere to outside! Ambience is a double height ceiling, not too bright lighting, with kitchen and wood fire exposed to vision. We took the upstairs area where there was a long table and could fit probably 20 people. Food came at good times, with our water being filled and service attentive without being asked. I ate a fish-only diet, there were a few options which were tasty. I am not an expert of dining, but vegetables with sauces, a range of nuts on top. Oysters, bread, fish and baked potato slices with mayonnaise and herbs. Generally food has a good home-made taste, Charcoal husk and always something unique with the flavor. Overall good experience.

What can we say, our experience at Agnes was amazing. From the delicious food and cocktails, being seating right by the kitchen so we could see all of the action, to the outstanding service by Sky and Jack, it was the perfect way to celebrate my husbands birthday. We’ll definitely be back!

Had a fantastic lunch at Agnes! I do prefer the previous version of Bay of fire, but the sourdough crumpet was amazing! Other dishes that stood out include the seafood, lamb sweetbread and wood roasted duck. Really busy afternoon, serving of food took a little longer, but they provided us a table at the bar area for us to enjoy our desserts which was pleasant.

I've been wanting to try this place since before it opened, as I was involved in the fitout of the restaurant. This place is not only singular, it is phenomenal. The audacity of trying to run a restaurant with only fire from a wood oven, charcoal and the raw elements, is matched only by the monumental talent that this kitchen presents it's privileged patrons. I can't even begin to describe the flavours and textures, except to say they were beyond any fault. Far beyond. This is not just food, it is art. I don't want to rant on except to say, go there, go now. You won't have experienced anything like Agnes. It is not just an experience, it's a pilgrimage. Ps they also have a bakery on James Street. But that's another review.

Dined here on Christmas Eve. Restaurant setting is lovely with a nice bar for pre drinks. Food all delicious but the potatoes with the green sauce were so good - must order! Would dine here again whilst visiting Brisbane.

Amazing! Such a cool venue with a great atmosphere and tunes to match. The food was outstanding. Absolutely loved the lamb ribs and beef tartare, but honestly could not fault any dish. Will be back for sure.

Exceptional service, wait staff knew the menu, fully explained the concept, extremely attentive without being overbearing and assisted our decision making. The sommelier was brilliant, knowledgeable, witty and charming. The food was extraordinary, designed as share plates (so do not balk at the price) and flawless. We had the beef tartare, tomahawk pork with cabbage and the flavours danced on the palate. Deserts were very different and paired well with the recommended desert wines. The whole place was buzzing with activity the entire time and the number of staff kept everything humming away like a beautiful oiled machine. Could not fault this place at all and we will be back. No wonder its sitting as the #1 in Brisbane.

The food here is outstanding. Everything we ordered blew our minds away. We did not try everything on the menu, but one must must not pass the sourdough bread, the cabbage, and the ice cream. I’d say that if you are in Brisbane, Agnes is a must visit.

Delicious food. Every dish was very well presented and the taste reflected how it looks. The only let down was the pork was not very well cooked. It tasted a little raw inside and colour was a pink in the middle. Although I don’t eat raw fish, the feedback was spectacular. I loved the mushroom, riosoni, fish and duck. Sides, such as the potato and the tomatoes were sensational. Definitely recommend the desserts! Highlight of the night! Definitely recommend to order one of each.

Been here few times have to admit it’s one of the most atmospheric places in Brisbane - good food, wonderful setting, decent music most importantly! Highly recommend their steak, crawfish, lamb, carrots, burnt cabbage, desserts! However, some other dishes can be quite salty or not my type. So I’m looking forward to new menu and trying out more

No electricity, no gas!! Hided it in a small street, Agnes open its door to show you a different and unique experience, they don't use electricity and gas!! The food is amazing, every single dish was delicious. The Lamb was something exceptional, delicious is not enough to describe this dish, we highly recommend it, as the others dishes that were delicious. The service was great too, we ordered a wine but this was finished but a blonde girl (unfortunately we don't remember her name) suggested us another great wine and we really liked it. They just spotted on in every single thing, the food, the service and the ambience. We concluded our wonderful dinner at the terrace, enjoying the beautiful view and our dessert. We highly recommend this restaurant, and we'll be back soon for sure. Thank you Agnes for the amazing experience.

Loved the experience. The fires, smells of different woods burning, food cooking, ambience and of course, the menu! Agnes impressed my Sydney friends, and that's not easy to do! Went up to the rooftop bar and checked out the private dining room. Didn't have time to experience the downstairs cellar, next time!

Great experience. Food was great. Agnes charged me $75 dollars extra on my bill. Notified me that exact day to fix their mistake. Refund process was very smooth.

Duck has to be preordered so you don’t miss out - it was very tender and tasty. Wagyu sirloin was rare so a bit chewy and we didn’t finish it (we didn’t get asked for how it was cooked but assume this is the case for this dish). Vegetable dishes were delicious especially the cabbage and potatoes. The carrots and asparagus were nice however some pieces were undercooked. The cocktails were delicious especially the stuntman gin one. The ambience was very nice.

Food was phenomenal. Everything had so much flavour but wasn’t overpowering. Love the fact that everything was all wood fire. Fantastic service as well was immediately greeted at the table and the waiter took the time to go through the menu and explain everything, giving her recommendations on popular items from the menu. Will definitely be back thank you so much!

Great ambiance, really delicious food, and amazing staff. Must try - smoked lamb ribs- it’s so tender and so yummy! No wonder this place has been voted as one of the best restaurants in Brisbane 2021!😍🤗👍

Great atmosphere coupled with great-tasting steaks. Their wagyu t-bone was definitely the showstopper for the evening, but the accompaniments, the grilled tiger prawns, and pork was equally delectable. Worth the experience - a must for diners looking to taste steak the way it was meant to be eaten!

  • 5/5 Nick G. 1 year ago on Google
This is a really yum restaurant! All the food is cooked over charcoal, giving it a beautiful smokey quality. Of the meals we had, the potato flat bread, the savoury waffles, the cabbage side and the espresso meringue were all incredible and come recommended. On top of this, the service is top notch and it has a very good wine list.

Such a great experience. Super knowledgeable, friendly and attentive staff. Gorgeous setting. And the food! Omg! Everything we had was amazing. The eggplant is so tasty...the duck was perfectly cooked... and the wines were delicious. Definitely returning.

Agnes provided a lovely dining experience! Food was well presented and definitely fine dining. I enjoyed the drinks and deserts the most. Highly recommend the lemon tart and malt chocolate ice cream for desserts. Please bring back the Shishito Peppers!

One of the most incredible fine dining experiences I have ever had. The food, atmosphere and service were phenomenal. The staff had a extensive knowledge of everything on the menu and wine pairings. Drinks were always refilled without asking. Very attentive. I can't wait to come back. Make sure you book months in advance to ensure that you get a table. It's worth the high price tag

Food is good but a bit salty for me but the meat was very tender. All the side dishes are surprisingly so good. Dessert was amazing. I love the vibe there. Staff is professional and attentive. Overall it was a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be back :)

Amazing experience. The food was great and ambience is beautiful. Watching the fires burn in the kitchen is an eye catching and mesmerising sight. The service was outstanding. Could not believe how friendly, attentive and professional the staff were. Highly recommend giving this place a crack. Food portions of the mains were surprisingly big so you only need one between two. Highlight was the tiger prawn snack it has so much flavour.
