Loved being able to enjoy a tasting menu with an option for each course. Service was a little frantic for this caliber of dining and can afford to slow a little and reflect the rhythm of the guests. Some superlative cooking, but dish design and imagination wasn't quite there for this place to earn its first star. Greater depth of flavour in the sauces could help! Wine pairings and selection was exceptional. You could visit just for the wine. Altogether a first rate experience, with tiny things to improve.

I had 3 courses for lunch. The food was absolutely amazing, and with the price, it is absolutely worth paying. All dishes were well created and tasty. The beef wagyu dish was my favorite. It was well cooked and tasty. I went there with a friend who has just got promoted and the restaurant was really considerate by preparing the card for him. I will definitely book again :)

A casual setting restaurant with Michelin food quality. Food is detail, creative with balanced taste profile, beautiful but not pretentious.

As another year passes by the standards at Caractere just seem to be getting higher and higher. The food , wine and service is quite simply exceptional. In the kitchen you have chefs Diego and Gaetano producing dishes of the highest quality. Sommelier Marco is very enthusiastic about his wine list and so he should be. It’s full of organic and biodynamic wines that are amazing. Then there’s the front of house led by manager Mattia who make you feel so welcome and who’s service is impeccable. Now let’s tell you about our latest visit. This started with the usual friendly welcome before being seated at our table. We ordered a cocktail while we looked at the menu. There is now more choices on the menu with the tasting menu , a la carte and the inclusion of a lunch menu. We decided to go for our usual choice of the tasting menu. While enjoying our cocktails we were presented with a delightful selection of snacks including Fried Pasta , Wasabi Royale and Pollock. Now it was time to discuss wine with sommelier Marco which resulted in an excellent Alois Lageder Mus - XX a light , fruity and elegant sparkling wine. CURIOUS - This is the first category of six that make up the tasting menu. The two dishes that started our lunch were absolutely stunning. The Red Sicilian Prawn Tartare with daikon , mandarin ponzu and a prawn cracker brought utter delight to my wife’s face. I was also in heaven as I enjoyed an amazing Stuffed Pappardelle with sheep ricotta , smoked eel , cime de rapa and puntarelle. The next section was SUBTLE. Here we both opted to choose the Acquerello Risotto with brown butter , smoked lardo , black lime and lemon. This dish was delicious and we both agreed that it was easily one of the best versions they’ve done. (sorry about the pic). DELICATE - This is the fish section that would also be the place of one of my favourite octopus dishes. Firstly my wife had the Steamed Cornish Cod stuffed with scallop and truffle , salsify and a vin jaune. Now on to my Barbecued Galician Octopus with calcot onion , olives , caper leaves and a red wine jus. Now we moved on to the main course called ROBUST. Here we were treated to two more exceptional dishes. The Roast Squab Pigeon with fried artichoke and rosé harissa as well as the Stuffed Saddle of Lamb with spinach , trompette mushrooms and smoked potato left us both not wanting the dishes to end. These were matched perfectly by two excellent recommendations from Marco. For the pigeon he chose a Avignonesi 2020 DA . DI. and for the lamb a fabulous 2017 Inama Carminium. Next to come was the additional STRONG which is the cheese course a selection of artisan cheeses with crackers , apple and prune chutney. Now it was time to finish with GREEDY. This s the dessert section. First was the refreshing pre dessert of Blood Orange with pistachio. This was followed by two absolutely delights. The Forced Yorkshire Rhubarb with caramelised puff pastry , creme anglaise and yoghurt sorbet was light and delicious. The revamped Chocolate and Pecan Tartelette with gavottes and a whiskey jelly was chocolate heaven. This was paired beautifully with a Moussamoussettes Pet Nat. We finished with coffee and petit fours to bring to an end another fabulous dining experience at Caractere. With every visit this restaurant goes from strength to strength and is an absolute credit to the hospitality industry. I would definitely recommend a visit and I’m looking forward to returning very soon myself. Thank You Diego , Emily , Marco , Gaetano , Mattia and all the team for a fantastic lunch and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

When you arrive at the extremely aptly named restaurant ‘CARACTÈRE’, the sense of the character of this place begins before you even walk through the door. Closed shut and almost a little unwelcoming looking - this creates an element of mystery. After you walk through the door you are greeted by the extremely attentive and friendly staff who will show you to the table and walk you through the very creative menu. We opted for the 3 course A La Carte which is reasonably priced at £78, especially given the location and quality. The waiters asked if we wanted an apéritif and swiftly delivered it with ‘pleasure’. Before ensuring we enjoyed a very hospitable evening with high quality and delicious dishes all round. I throughly enjoyed the experience and would just like to say two words to the owner if they are reading this. Thank you.

Great restaurant in Notting Hill. Real gastronomic delight: high quality ingredients, top level execution and presentation, and attentive service to top it all off. Fair prices given the quality on display

Been meaning to check this place out for a long time. Finally booked for my Girlfriend's Birthday and wow, it did not disappoint. Absolutely stunning flavours and presentation. Far from cheap but I would certainly pay to eat here again.

We came for our anniversary and were not disappointed. Brilliant price for the lunchtime tasting menu and wine pairing, and the food was beautiful. Staff were lovely and informative too. We came way back in September 2021 and I am STILL going on about the risotto.

Came for a celebratory occasion and it was almost as if the host knew - service was impeccable, with very friendly and professional staff. the tasting menu is delicious and the food is beautifully presented (few shots below) Great value for the calibre of food, location, and setting. Have already recommended to friends in the area. I feel like they may be on their way to a Michelin star if I were to guess.

We came here to celebrate a birthday and we had an incredible experience. The tasting menu was creative, beautifully presented, and ultimately very delicious. Do try their creamy black truffle risotto covered in generous shavings of truffle! The service was professional and there was a very good atmosphere. We will definitely return!

Really cute restaurant in West London. Excellent food and service and definitely recommend taking the tasting menu! When we first booked that was a system glitch so they had to move us to another day and they gave us a complimentary drink because of that which is so nice of them.

It's a classy place but the warmth and attentiveness really makes everyone feel at home. The food was gorgeously creative and delicious, if at times a little too salty.

STUNNING. the food tasted absolutely sophisticated. It’s so flavorful but nothing is overpowering anything. Everything’s we had have us wowing on the inside if we manage to keep it in. We don’t usually have a sophisticated palate but we can absolutely tell that the food here is beyond exceptional. It is art. They also gave us tons of free snacks - 3 delicious one when you sit down, bread and AMAZING butter, and dessert after your dessert. When I say the butter is good, it is an understatement because we literally were trying to strategize how we can sneak the leftover into my purse. And all of these freebies are not just fillers because these are as exceptions as the main dishes we ordered. This place is on the more expensive side but it is understandable considering the amount of science it is put into preparing the food and the service but it’s well worth it. That said, the crowd is a bit uptight which made us a bit uncomfortable tbh because we just feel a bit pretentious but the food has distracted us.

Food as beautiful as the presentation. It’s either 3 courses or a tasting menu. So you have to be hungry enough to eat your way thru the menu. Very pleased to have gluten free options and gluten free bread 🥖 winner

Superb. We had the 6 course tasting menu and every dish was memorable, perfectly cooked and beautifully served. Not a single false note. Even the coffee was delicious! A place to splash out for a special occasion. Our second visit and hopefully it won't be our last.

Came on a date night with my partner nothing prepared me for the culinary adventure that was about to take place. While exploring flavour, texture, design and ambiance it was further enhanced by staff. Valentina stood out in particular as a member of the hosting staff who has a great passion and understanding of her work. I'll certainly be returning.

The highest praise I can give is it tastes even better that it looks. Wine pairing is a must with the tasting menu, great sommelier. Must be a Michellin star coming.

Beautiful fine dining experience. All expectations were met. Had the tasting menu and classic wine pairing. Everything cooked and presented to perfection. The only small minus was the dessert which even if delicious was too heavy to come at the end of a tasting menu. Highly recommended and worthy of a detour.

Well deserved 5 stars. It’s been a long time since a restaurant beat our (high) expectations in cooking. All the flavors as well as the presentation were impeccable. Service is a very high standard, efficient but personable. And we very much enjoyed the wines with the sommelier making great suggestions and happy to spend time understanding what we were looking for. Caractère should be high up anyone’s list.

I have been there for dinner this week. I was very impressed from what I have seen on Internet and I dicided to go and try. I was prefering michelin star restaurants most of the times but I was very interested and I was believing that something good is happening there. Upon my arrival I seen a nice looking restaurant, nice table and comfortable chair. I did decide to go for tasting menu with a quite good selection of wine, thanks to sommelier. Long story short, the food wasn't good although it was looking stunning. Everything was very beautiful plated and nice selection of plates. The plates that save a bit the day was the starters, crab and veal sweetbreads. Very tasty and well presented, especially the crab. Also the pre dessert was one of the best I did try last year. Very simple but very balanced and tasty. Blood orange sorbet, orange and pistachio . Worth mentioning was the bread . Other than that very bad experience. The temperature of the food was coming on the table was bearly hot. The cod with scallop mousse probably the worst plate I ever had. Fish almost cold and the combination of sauce, fish and garnish didn't work. The other fish course that my girlfriend has and I did try a small piece was not bad. And now we coming on main course. I have had venison and my girlfriend lamb. I did like the sides . Was very interested to get the lamb belly and the venison rib in the bbq but they came cold and hard . The lamb had a very heavy and strong taste of lamb, not very delicate. Although nice try with the spinach and duck liver. I have had venison as a main. I got the last part of the loin , the end(tail) Which is not the best piece to get. On top of that I get a piece almost raw. I do like medium rare cooking and I have not problem at all eating it but the piece I get was about to talk to me. I called the waiter and he did change the plate for me. The second I did get inhad two small pieces which was better than the first with better caramelisation outside. Apparently the restaurant didn't show to me that they are sorry for that and they didn't take the plate out of the bill or give as glass of champagne or coffee later on from the house. I am not a person who ask for that and I am not looking to pay less so I didn't really care but I said that to show the way of the treating. The service wasn't good at all. Apart of a very kind nice waitress, Angela. Thanks once again for the nice service. The rest of the team have had a weird attitude and the was looking all time on our table , not in a good way, like they are have to say something funny between them about us. In conclusion, I left very disappointed about my experience from service and food and on my way out no-one came to say goodbye or thank you, especially after this issue on the main course, and I had to look for the waitress to get my jacket. Nice looking food, taste needs a lot of work and service needs to change attitude ASAP.
